Hi all, after some help please.
I am running the most recent cm7 build to which I change the build.prop dpi setting to 200 as I prefer the look of it, however on other Rom's I have had all programs working correctly at the new dpi but now I can't?
The two that I am currently having problems with are current widget and powertutor. I know the current widget has worked at a dpi of 200 in the past so why not now?
I have had a look around the system to see if I could edit any system files to the app's to display fullscreen but am not having any luck. Does anyone know why or how to get the programs to display fullscreen?
Cheers go advance,
Blinky

I can confirm that current widget is working flawlessly running at dpi 200.. Even 160 works, but that the menus highlight is messed up.. Try disabling compatiblity mode in spare part.
I'm running cm7 pnk22..
Worked a treat, will have to remember that one, thanks a lot mate

There is an app, called "LCD Resolution".
It lets rooted phones to change the resolution. It is free and works on ace.
Looks cool.. Post a comment if you used it.. and what setting is optimum.
It just changes the screen density. However, if you really are intent on using it, try 140 and your 2d performance will improve a little bit.
Muhaha from pocketnow
You can d this also manually by editting build.prop or with lcd density

Two screenshot collections. One before other after setting to 140 (also added more columns with ADW).
My language has long words, this helps to see full length words in settings menu.

I'm more worried that I wouldn't be able to type that well anymore, or tap the right buttons when they become smaller
Have been looking for an app like this though, thanks!
Well you can write then with your eyeball

have you tried make/recieve a call with a different lcd density? i guess your phone app will simply crash.
If there is a solution please, i'll be very glad to know about because my ace with a 140 density is much more appealing to the eye!
Great apk. And which smalest can change density 140 or smalest?

Just booted with 80 (940x640)
I'm wondering, since 800x480 game resolutions wont fit Galaxy Ace's screen, will changing the density to 800x480 from 480x320 make it fit? Haha just curious though
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Android 4.0.1 ICS
ROM : TheMythICS Lite Beta 2

So it only changes the density, not the physical resolution of the screen, right?
Don't get it. Conventionally High Dpi = High resolution but it seems the opposite in this application.
Did you notice any loss of sharpness guys?
Using now 120, 110 status bar fc, 100 bootloop
If you do this keep it mind that it breaks the market, most things will say your device is incompatible, and lots of stuff will be missing.
At eny resolution i try i got crush of com.android.phone all other work good but i cant use phone for call :/ wen i got o try make call .. crush ;/

Change dpi editing build.prop and make sure you reboot your phone completely... BTW 120 works for me perfectly..

So I just tried out SlimBean for the GS3 and it works great. It fixes some of the annoyances I was having with CM9/10.
SlimBean allows the user to change the DPI settings (assuming through the build.prop file). The default value makes everything very small and would be great if all my widgets were justified correctly.
Does anyone know what DPI setting I should use to have the stock look & feel/icon size? From what I can tell the default is 241...
Do it in steps of 2 what i mean first 243 dpi then 245 etc until you found the perfect dpi

I totally agree. You want to take it real slow when editing the DPI. I would make a backup first before even thinking about changing anything like that.
320 is a good one. You can go to developer settings and change it instead of using the build prop editor.
Did a nandroid backup and stepped through a few different DPI settings. Turns out 320 is what I was looking for.
Thanks for the help.

Fwiw, 320 is the default, from the factory setting

under which header is it? I don't see it there.
Easy fix(without messing with build.prop): Definitely nandroid backup first. Then download this app: TexDroider DPI.
Worked wonders for me just now. Everything looks great at 320 dpi. It was previously 220.
I recently finally switched over to jelly bean from gingerbread. I used to use lcd modder pro to change my LCD density to 200 giving me the perfect screen resolution. I tried using it on JB and all it did was give me a soft brick making me reinstall everything. Is there something that works well with JB now to do the same thing? Also I would need to fix the problem with market incompability (LCD Modder fixed this inherently).
Thanks for any tips.

Yes, RTP sites a good job changing dpi. What you'll find, however cc is that some apps don't adjust properly, ie dialer, mail. For this I use the per app dpi changer. Great app found on here at XDA.

Have changed it but am not on stock
Why dont you make a nandoid backup and try it. I am curious myself. Find ro.sf.lcd_density in build.prop and try changing it to different values. Oh, and post some screenshots if you can
I tried that but then the Google Play goes haywire with compatibility issues and the home screen and app drawer do not cover up the whole screen :crying:
I am running 400 on stock

400 dpi works fine? I have tested 380 and found too small = [.
thx.
Can we change the default dpi on Mate 20 x. The developer setting to change the width only make the font smaller but everything else still big, like the icon, home screen and status bar etc. Any method for root or non root.

Some interface elements such as the ones you mention are not affected by changing the dpi setting. There is no way round that.
It's a bug, it worked great on the Honor Note 10.

Do you think it will get fix because its a bug or default on Mate 20 x. Does on Honor changes work fine on everything.?

I hope so, yeah on Honor its changed everything.
Hi guys, I posted this in another thread before I found this so I'm going to copy-paste what I put there:
Hey guys, I've been thinking of getting this phone but after trying it out at a store and realizing that the navigation buttons and notification doesn't change size, I'm a lot more hesitant to get the phone. Is it possible to change the sizes of them? Any luck using ADB to change the lcd.density? According to this other post in the Mate 10 forums https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=76106073&postcount=32 it's possible. They did edit the build prop directly though. Not sure if this is able to be edited through ADB so no root is required.
Would appreciate any answers to this! Thank you!
Is there really no way around it?
