Is there a way to hack Chrome to Phone to open webpages in other tabs instead of overwriting my existing one.
I wanted to read a couple of articles on the new Honeycomb tools that released today and I C2P'd it to my Evo. I found another article and when I C2P'd it, it replaced the first article.
Does anyone know if this would be possible. Is it controlled in the app itself or is it something that is controlled by the Browser APK.
Set the app on your phone to not open links automatically. This way you get the different links in your dropdown

I have Mobile Firefox (FF) installed. The latest version lets you synch FF desktop bookmarks to your FF on your mobile device. This is handy, but I would also LOVE to be able to export those bookmarks over to the stock android browser.
There are several bookmark synching (cloud based) apps out there - Xmarks (pay app), etc. However I don't see anything that specifically allows you to just import a bookmark set into Android. That functionality is also not built into the stock browser.
Surely, by now, there has to be a quick/easy way to import FF/IE/Chrome bookmarks directly to the Android Browser on your mobile device?
Nevermind. I did not read the OP carefully enough.
Edit: I also am looking for a solution to this. Supposedly Gmarks can do this but I could not figure out how.

MyBookmarks app (free in Market) will do this. You export your bookmarks; upload them to their site; import them to your device. Supposedly works on all phones (I have a Toshiba Thrive) and IE, Firefore, Safari, and Chrome.

I appreciate the response, I did a market search but this app must not have been popular enough to come up in the first 10-15 bookmark related apps.
I'll give it a try, there is a Free and Pro version.

Downloaded this mybookmarks app. Uploaded ff bookmarks on the website then imported them with the app. Said it was successful but the android native browser has the same bookmarks as before. Nothing new imported. Strange. Anyone else get this to work with synergy or gb based rom? Not sure why it's not importing them to the browser correctly.

No idea why this app doesn't work for me? Says it imports but my bookmarks are the same.

Same with me.
And I'm getting really upset that I can't transfer my Firefox bookmarks to my HTC. I have allot of them, and use them for work also.
Since I'm going on a business trip, I'll need it all on my DHD.
It's a pain in the ass to create one by one manually.
I love my kindle for Android! Being able to make notes and highlight is awesome. I read in the dark with the fonts white and the backgroud darkend...my wife is not disturbed in bed anymore with reading lights. Lately, the weather has chilled a bit here in SoFla so I like reading on the pool patio in the dark. Thanks to calibre, I can take all my .pdf books and convert them to .mobi...but...
My problem is:
I read from two devices (for example: Dell Sreak 5 and Toshiba Thrive and work with .mobi files on the laptop. So I've got two Androids and a pc that I switch back and forth. The laptop is NOT very important because I doen't read w/ it. Just proof files w/ it. As you are likely aware, I cannot sync my notes, etc accross the devices.
I see two problems. I want my Kindle for Android app to refer to a cloud (like dropbox) for books.
...and I want it to store the notes, highlights, etc there too. Or at least sync them to the cloud location.
I figured out how to get the app to sync with the cloud in a rudimentary way. I used foldersync from the market to sync the ../kindle on my local to the ../kindle in my dropbox. This does not have an effect on notes, etc. They do note sync.
From what I know, the Kindle app writes these notes and marks to a text file on the device. I believe that syncing this file to the cloud wont work because it will simple overwrite the older file. It cannot update the actual file contents so I think I require that the Kindle app write notes directly to the cloud. Now I understand this would require I have an internet connection at all times for this to work. I can live with that unless someone can come up with a better idea.
I do not want to break any forum rules so how do I go about getting this done? I am, of course refering to hiring a Kindle Geek to possibly modify the Kindle app for my purposes.
I am not sure if it does notes, but if you use Amazon Calibre plugin to add the amazon id (ASIN) to your .mobi files. I know that furthest page read and bookmarks sync across all of your devices/apps.
I know this isn't exactly what you are looking for but it may still be helpful.

Could you elaborate on this? Point me towards a 'How to...' Section somewhere. Im interested.
This belongs under questions, not development.

Just update metadata after installing amazon plugin. I'm mobile right now+ will try to find a howto when I get home.
Essentially it finds amazon asin and sets book type to ebok

My apologies if I posted improperly. Since I directed my request to the developers, I figured it belonged here.
Lemmee 'splain were i'm at right now. I stumbled on repligo for .pdf's and wow! It does more than I wanted on the android platform. It integrates with dropbox so the master is easily kept on the dropbox folder and annotations are all kept within the .pdf itself.
My only complaint is there is no dictionary feature for words within the doc and saving is not automatic. You have to push the save periodically or when your done. I had to get used to dropbox cuz it was saving on the cache folder on my sd and changes did not migrate. You must make sure you are working from the cloud version and not your cached version, although I believe that is easily fixed if that did happen.
This option is ok for me, however, I am looking for a more simple scenario. I do not want to set my wife up with this because she doesnt get into the details that much. She just wants a kindle experience with annotations on both of her devices for ebooks that are not on amazon server.
For the moment though, this repligo app has rich features that make this experience wonderful. For me!
Anyone who uses Chrome on their PC will know what I mean when I say is there any Android browser that allows you to search different websites from the navigation bar? For instance in desktop Chrome if you want to search youtube for Lady Gaga you just type in "youtube.com Lady Gaga". Is there any Android web browser with that kind of functionality? Android Chrome doesn't seem to do it.
Thanks for any help.

I use the stock browser and Chrome in that way with no problems. I think, there is something wrong with your settings.
I just reinstalled Chrome on my phone and typed in "youtube.com Lady Gaga" and it didn't work, it just searched on Google. Is there a setting you have to turn on?
As far as I know, the mobile version is fairly new and didn't see any options to enable it. Desktop chrome came with it already functional. The only mobile variation I found was using Firefox w/ the youtube add-on. Which sucks because I hate Firefox.
I love the dolphin browser you should try that one not sure what you are trying to do.

In Chrome on desktop, you can / have to go to options / search settings and set up these shortcuts (if not already present). I've only just started with new Android device - I assume there is a similar place to set such on handheld. e.g. On my desktop, type 'w' 'p' '<space>' auto-changes the address line to 'search wikipedia' (or like wording). I assume you see the same on your desktop when you type 'youtube.com', as per your message.
If nothing else, you can do '"lady gaga" site:youtube.com", in the mean time.
I just spent the better part of 5 minutes trying to do a very simple thing in Chrome; paste a different tracking number at the end of an existing url in the address bar.
I finally came away with the conclusion that the developers of Chrome feel there should be no way to do this. Have I missed something?
I use Firefox no issues like that maybe try it out

Thanks, but prefer Chrome for the bookmark syncing. I actually ended up constructing the entire url in a text editor and then pasting that into Chrome. I was hoping that someone might point out something I'm missing.
Came across a similar problem long ago on my old tablet s with the URL being too long for the screen, a keyboard with cursor keys is needed to input manually, although just now I see what you mean about trying to paste on to the end of a URL.
That's my work around from before chrome.

I just tried it. If you have a number cut on the clipboard, you can long press the URL, slide the blue tabs to start and end of existing number, hit delete, long press again and slide blue tabs to the same spot, and paste.
Or save as bookmark and edit bookmark (not any easier).
Or have Fedex bookmarked and paste there.
Or use FF or Boat or Xscope, with a Chrome html file a bookmark.
Hey what's up guys. Not sure if this has already been discussed but I was wondering if there was a way to activate the pop up browser without actually clicking on link. As many of you know we are somewhat limited on the applications we can use in split screen mode. But I noticed if I already have pop up browser open I am able to navigate to almost any application on the phone. It would be great to quickly look something up while already in a game or in an app that does not support multi window.
Any ideas?

Yes, I downloaded this and I'm positive it is exactly what you are looking for. It DOES work on my t-mo GN2 without a problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1972869
here is a news post about it as well. http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...er-without-clicking-links-on-the-galaxy-note/
it is in pure apk form(simple dl and install) and will create an app. You could launch it without clicking any links, just like you would launch the stock browser.
I am 99% that is the one i downloaded and it works perfect for me
If I understood you correctly and this is what you're looking for, hit the thanks button if i I helped you out. Gl
