Vplayer plays real files no problem... if not try rockplayer

So can the G2 play WMA files or should I start to convert to mp3? If it can play WMA, what are the settings needed?
Thanks in advance.

Rockplayer..plays most codecs. AVI being the biggest for me. Vplayer is cool because it has gestures but rockplayer is most stable for me. Plays wma too just to clarify. They both do

Yeah its good times being able to throw any rip on phone to watch at work and not bother having to shrink and convert

Any third party player should be able to handle most if not all media formats. The stock players often won't support rare formats like .m4a but if you really don't wanna convert them then stick to something like WinAmp.
Hello, I've been looking for just an apk of the cyanogenmod 7 music player. I've tried so many music players in tye market and cm7 is still my favorite! I used to have an HTC Eris so I tried unzipping the rom and looking for media player or android player... Even music player but it was unsuccessful. My next thought is to download the incredible 1 cm7 and searching there. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Plz'n'ty!

Hey guys, quick question. I have unity, when i first started using it the prompt would come up asking what player I wanted to use playing movies off the net. Now its just a player that i hate. The one I liked was like the stock player from the g2, you could press forward and it would advance in 15sec increments. Any idea where I can get that one or one like it? I think it was called "es player" or something when it would come up. Thank you in advance.

Try rock player. Stock video player on non sense roms suck balls. The sense video player is so much better and you can play more than 3GP or .mkv. for example with stock non sense player you would have to convert avi ti .mkv which is pointless when you have other players like the ones I mentioned that can play the correct codec without converting and dithering of quality

Ok, ill give that a try. Thank you!

Your talking about "es file explorer". It plays video files as will. Just go to market and get es file explorer you'll be all set.

Another vote for Rock Player.
Hi.
Problem is with HQ videos (movies etc).
Mostly HD videos have NOT the sound (experienced with MX Player, default 4.0.3. & 4.1.1 version players). Playing them with VPlayer (paid version) it force closes sometimes without any notification or something. Probably force closes because of RAM (not ROM).
BUT videos which haven't sound playing on other video players have sound on VPlayer.
The issue is on any ROM.
Please help me if you know the answer.. Thanks anyway
have a nice day..

Did you try using the S/W or S/W (fast mode) codec other than the default H/W codec? It's located on the top right and me and my brother have been using MX Player Pro and we play MKV files all the time.
(just dropping by on HoX section to check my brother's thread)

of course. anyway it isn't working.
p.s. just found out that the issue isn't only with HQ videos but with several formats..
yesterday watched a HQ video on MX Player and it worked. Now tried different video on MX Player, and again. There's no sound.
With VPlayer the sound is always but the player uses (probably) too much resources so it's force closes. Or VPlayer is stupid (hate paid apps that fails)
p.s.s. Just changed the sound_effects.conf file from system files (/etc) to the original one. Anyway it's not working.

Just found out that MX Player doesn't play sound for the videos that H/Q Decoder is NOT supported. How can I run them on MX Player with sound cause S/W player and S/W (fastmode) have NOT the sound ;(
and I don't want to use that freaking $#@$^ #@%$# @ %^ &#@* [email protected]%#^! VPlayer (+paid version).. (hate the refund policy)
Anybody have the same issue with H/Q Decoder for several videos?

try vlc pro free player from market then
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vlcforandroid.vlcdirectprofree&hl=en
I use MxPlayer Pro. Works very well and worth a couple bucks.
I rarely buy apps, but that and Titanium backup are worth it.
Rock player lite plays every avi i have that has crashed dice and its free

I use bs player it works fine for me

Either MX or Dice. Since Dice is crashing for you, try MX
Since update for 4.0.4 I've got problem with video playback - every avi randomly crashes (going back to menu) on both MX and VLC player - sometimes it runs for few minutes, sometimes it run for minute or less. What is the problem? I watch many movies on my HOX before the update and there wasn't any problems, now it's quite annoying. It's the software problem? If I convert the movie to .mp4 will it fix the problem temporally? If MX and VLC crashes I doubt, that using other player will help...
Try MX player. I'm using it ( especially with option screen lock )

I've mentioned twice in my post, that I'm using MX Player (full paid version). I wondering that, if it appeared in more than one player, then it's the system problem, not the player.

RockPlayer ftw
Thanks for pointing to MX Player.
It works great with the Viper ROM.
