I got a regular Desire right now and I am into buying a new phone. Desire HD or Z? I cannot decide. I can say that I like to watch movies on my phone, watch youtube, browse the internet and stuff like that. I can't say I'm the person who uses sms alot, but it happens when I feel like it.
So now you probably think, just get the HD then. But why? Give me your thoughts please.
Personally, the Z feels cheap
I'd wait a month or so and see what new ones comes out
I just upgraded my desire to a DHD, overall the device is excellent, there is a few minor flaws though like, the battery and sim card covers being badly designed and feel low quality compared to the excellent build quality of the rest of the device.. also if you have an amoled desire like i had, you will really notice a diffrence in the screen. Apart from that its awsome, and the multitouch actually works :-D

and your opinion is based upon what experiance? If you havnt used both devices you cant say which is better- unless you just think that the screen is what makes the differance, not for all my friend.
I havn't used the DHD or the DZ, however, looking at the development section, I'd much rather go fot the DZ as the drivers the phone has are just unbelievebly amazing- overclock yp to 2.2Ghz, from a 700Mhz at stock! :O Thats more than 3 times the stock clock speed!
Yes the DHD has an amazing screen, shame not Amoled, but you know, the SGS
Im not goin into much detail on the DHD because I simply dont know much about it..
I'd go for the DZ purely because of the drivers and the hardware keyboard, but thats just me.. make up your own opinion based on what you want to do in terms of the development and what you want to use it for- if you dont like the device, you will only have yourself to blame, not others that havent even touched the phone
Hope this helps!
Desire Z is device inferior to both Desire and Desire HD. It has moar internal memory truth be told, but I don't consider it a thing of grave importance since we have a2sd and soon data2sd will be ready for mass usage. CPU and RAM would be a downgrade from the Desire.
DHD on the other hand seems right. It is an upgrade alright, new sense and the device is better, but it has even weaker battery than Desire and the device is HUGE! I have a mate who can't reach the opposite edge of the screen with his thumb while holding the phone in his hand.
I'd say stick with the Desire and wait what new pops out, there is bound to be something soon enough.

Desire Z has Sense UI 2.0 too..
And although it does have a slower clock speed at stock- theres always SetCPU- and root for the new update!
The DHD has got a newer version of our Snapdragon 8250 to 8255 which does have new drivers, but overclock only up to 1.5Ghz.. The screen is LCD so yeah, not very efficient
I just hope they implement Sense 2.0 on Desire. I must have that remote lock&wipe thingy
I'm not sure you would want to overclock the descendant of the device who already had poor battery performance, just this comes with moar inferior battery, better CPU(more instructions, could be more efficient?) and 0.6" larger screen.

To be honest guys, I bought an iPhone 4 just because of the fact that I ain't that much of a poweruser anymore. I never rooted my Desire but still used it regularly with Android IRC, MSN Talk, Rockplayer and stuff like that. So I bought an iPhone 4 just because of it's simplicity and that I don't demand much from my phone. And yes, every Android phone with Froyo is better than the iPhone 4.
DZ weighs a tonne, and the keyboard is a bit dodgy - DHD gets my vote

The information here is so wrong. Im using a G2 the American version of the Desire Z. CPU is a upgrade from the Desire, Desire uses a first generation Snapdragon and the Desire Z uses the second generation Snapdragon CPU. Clock speed doesnt matter here, I can tell you my device keeps up or even surpasses the Desire HD when clocked in the same range (its basically a underclocked version of the CPU in the Desire HD). You clock a Desire Z to 1ghz and Im pretty sure it will keep up with a stock Desire HD and benchmark in the same range. And the difference between 576MB ram in the Desire and 512mb in the Desire Z will not make a difference. Im not sure what GPU the Desire uses but the Desire Z uses the same GPU found in the Desire HD, the new Adreno 205.
Desire Z and HD are a superior device compared to the Desire, besides arguably the screen. Ill give the edge slightly to the Desire HD over the Desire Z but performance wise they are in the same range.
Basically you're right, it slipped my attention that z packs second gen too. But when it comes to memory you in so much fail since it will not make much difference in inconsistent benchmarks your statements rely on, but in day to day usage, moar memory, or even better, the lack of it will be felt badly.

The RAM size would probably make a difference between the Desire HD and Desire Z but not the Desire Z and Desire. The difference is too small to be substantial in day to day use. I can tell you from day to day usage I have no slowness, lag, or problems with my G2. Go read any review on the Desire Z, they always mention how fast the device is and that is stock. Its probably aided by how efficient the second generation Snapdragon really is and utilizes the ram..

hi,
i wanted to ask which phone should i go for, the desire HD or desire Z ... which one is better in performance an has less flaws... the desire z looks weak- for exsample if it would fall on the ground would it break because of the loose hinge, the desire hd - soome people say that the screen is less crisp than the desire Zs and also DHD looks very very big (is it too big) ... so i ask you guys to help me decide which one should i buy .

The Desire HD is better in performance as far as I know.
The screen aint that big, it fits in your hand and it's nice to browse on the internet with a bigger screen.

1 Better in performance = generally desire HD, because of higher stock speed.
2 Build = desire HD HECK in my honest opinion the z-hinge wasnt a wise design. (i could be wrong)
3 screen = In my opinion if you'd like high res screens you should go for desire-Z. When placed side by side with desire HD, I think the colours look a slightly more vivid.
AH but of course, I've been using my phone(DHD) for 1 month and i can't differentiate between the individual pixels when my eyes are more than 7 cm from the screen. So all in all , I dont think the resolution of the screen screen is a problem of the DHD.
Main disadvantages of the DHD is that sometimes your pocketablility(LOL) is affected at some times, because of its sheer size.(especially if you LOVE wearing skinnys). Not a problem for me though.
If the hinge on the Z is made as well as that on the G1 you'll be fine. The G1 is virtually bomb proof and after two years and several drops the hinge works perfectly. I'd say you could take quality out of the equation.
The DHD is beter spec'd.
But I really I would have thought the choice comes down to whether or not you want a physical keyboard. As for size, go to a store, check them both out. I find the Z (as with the G1) feels bulkier than the DHD both in hand and pocket.
The dhd looks big and ungainly but the erotic curve on the back means it sits nicely in the hand.
Someone swyped my idea.

I'd say, if you really need a hardware keyboard, then go for the Desire Z, but if your willing to trade the keyboard for a bigger screen then go for the Desire HD. In terms of performance, desire HD is better:
Desire HD vs Desire Z:
768mb RAM vs 512mb RAM
1ghz snapdragon vs MSM 800mhz
and higher stock scores in quadrant...
I love my desire HD, i dont think its too big and i love the size of the screen. Both are solid in terms of build quality, and as for screen, i think the desire z has better colours and contrast, but the screen is still amazing, but in pixel density i didnt really notice a huge difference.
Only if you need the hardware keyboard then go for the desire z, otherwise desire HD.
I have had both, and I'm in love with the DHD, but the Z is a great phone also... DHD FTW
Sent from my Ginger Garnished HTC Desire HD
Before reviving my DHD I was worried it would be massive in hand and bulky in pocket, I thought the screen size would suit my large hands.
It was the right decision, the phone looks big compared to a iPhone for example until you place them on top of one another and see its only slightly bigger. The screen is great, again you can only see the pixels if you put your face on the screen, from normal distance the screen is crisp and natural.
In pocket its skimmer than my wallet and un-noticeable. Great build quality oh and fast.
Hope this helps.

Yes it is a 2nd gen snapdragon but it is a different model MSM 7230 800 MHz processor whereas desire HD uses QSD 8255 1ghz chip. Definatley both are better than the classic desire becuase they use a 45nm process vs the 65nm process. The 2nd gen also uses the adreno 205 gpu as apose to the adreno 200 in the 1st gen snapdragon. But the desire HD is said to have a stronger processor than the desire z overall.

Hi! I'm planning to buy DHD, but will it be worth to wait for IS, even IS isn't much better, if it is better...
IS has smaller display, less ROM, no card included, only better thing is HTC Sense 3.0 but I think i will be updated on DHD in q2 with G'bread.
If yuo have samo preposition, i'll be welcom to hear you. Thanks !
U have just answered ur own question. Why do u want a smaller phone with less RAM and no card if it gets gingerbread at the same time as the Dhd...the choice should be quite obvious....

Hi.
The screen on IS is supposed to be better than DHD. Although, coming from TP2 myself, I've been more than satisfied with the display quality. Otherwise there's the front mounted webcam to consider. If you plan on doing video calls there probably won't be any way around the IS. Personally though, I'd go for the DHD, but that's just my preferred choice on account of the slightly larger screen and more RAM.
Regards
Elo.

The resolution is exactly the same on both devices, the only difference being that the Incredible S' screen is a bit smaller, so the pixel density is greater and it may look a tad better.
As for the RAM HTC's website states that in fact the Incredible S has EXACTLY the same amount of RAM as the Desire HD.
On top of that, the Incredible S also has a 1450mAh battery, while the Desire HD only has 1230mAh. The Desire HD has 1.5 GB of internal storage while the Incredible S has 1.1, but if you have a good SD card you won't miss much!
So basically what the Incredible S is, is a slightly smaller Desire HD with a smaller screen and bigger battery.
If battery life is very important to you then by all means, get the Incredible S, but if you look at the Desire HD forums, it is supported by amazing developers, whose ROMs easily tackle the battery situation; you can't guarantee that there will be good developers for the Incredible S, so you're taking a risk.
All in all I recommend the Desire HD, the choice is yours though.
Oh yeah, also I believe that only the Desire S, the HTC Flyer, the HTC ChaCha, and the HTC Salsa come with Gingerbread by default. The Incredible S is confirmed to get Gingerbread at the same time as the Desire HD.

With all the new versions of the Desire becoming available is the original Desire still the best?
I love my desire and I've had it for about 10 months or so. The wife's contract is due for renewal soon and she does seems to like my HTC desire.
It would be her first smart phone.
I'm very pleased with mine. I am currently running an older LeeDroid ROM (Soon to be upgraded with his latest to be released version).
Would the original Desire still cut the mustard for the next 18 months or so?
Desire has been around for around 1 Year and till today it is one of the top phones. I own a Desire myself and have to say it's a great phone till today.
There's quite alot of phones coming out but nothing amazing has come out yet.
Not many people like the new Desire S because it's not that different from the standard Desire.Just a tiny bit different in memory.
Desire HD is quite big and battery life is appaling.
Desire Z quite heavy.
All the new versions aren't that amazing that would make me jump to them instead of staying with my Original Desire.
I've heard good things about the samsung galaxy S 2 which is coming out in March. If you want to consider that.

True that - I was expecting dual-core HTCs early this year.
The way I see it, the Desire would probably get left behind by HTC in the following 3 or 4 months (right after we get the official Gingerbread in April) to make room for their newer (dual-core?) models. After that? Well, it's up to us to keep it "alive and kicking" with new ROMs and crazy experimental stuff.
I think for new people the Desire S is probably a good choice... enough internal memory and a good size.
I think this is the point of the S... to be something to bring new people in. I love the desire original and wouldn't upgrade to an S

I think it is one of the best phones around still around.
I like the Desire S, think it looks quite nice, but not enough internal differences to justify an upgrade just yet.
I don't really like the Desire HD. Much too large to use with just one hand. Desire Z is a bit heavy, but I guess it caters for the people who prefer a physical keyboard.
I've still got about 14 months left with my Desire, so nearly 18 months, and I'm more than sure it'll be just fine for that amount of time.
what phone does your wife have at the moment?
I assume not a Desire - Desire / Desire S would make sense unless she wanted a bigger screen (Desire HD)
for me - like Jigswa said - the DHD is too big personally...
Oh also - unless you want rooting and custom roms and stuff - a DS would make sense (over the Desire Original) if you can hold out for it...
The only reason I say it is because its likely to be around for longer than the Desire original from an official capacity...

She's currently got a Nokia 6700 I think. Nothing fancy. But with her love of Facebook and Angry Birds she want's to now get a smart phone. Oh and something she can use for mobile broadband i.e. tethering.
A colleague of mine has just got a Galaxy S and to me it seemed a bit lightweight and felt plasticy.
I'm, trying to get her a decent 18 month contract. I've seen a few good little deals.
She probably won't want exactly the same phone as me. So maybe a Desire S would be the better option.
Had 2 iPhones before finally taking the plunge into Android. Had my eye on the Desire for awhile and thank god I finally bought it. Running the Oxygen Gingerbread rom ATM.. easiest thing in the world to get running. Had it for about 8 months now too but I won't be upgrading atleast until dual-core htc's.
I know exactly where you are coming from with the Galaxy S feeling light and plasticy - the Desire feels more substantial - as long as you don't want a super light phone!
Also I felt the UI was clunky and too iPhone-esque
the DHD felt heavier than the Desire too.
Desire S will fix any issues with installing stuff to the phone too by having the same storage space as the DHD - it will have Gingerbread out the box, and a nice clean Sense UI win win all round.
Desire S seems a perfect phone for people who don't have Android already IMO!
Apart from weak GPU, weak multi-touch in games, and lack of native DIVX support, I think Desire is still a good phone if those are not important too you. The battery and the internal memory are not issues for me anymore with custom ROMS and HBOOT.
HTC Desire Is 5x better then S(boottime, apps launchtime..so many bugs) i realy like my Desire Using 8 months

Desire S has moar internal memory, moar ram, packs 2nd generation Qualcomm cpus which rectify the first gen shortcomings, and on top of that, has better battery. Although it is not in the upgrade path for the original Desire owners, it is an upgrade nevertheless and excellent choice for the new users. You are trashing a device with superb specifications b4 it even went retail.

I agree, a colleague of mine has it. My fist is of enough size to comfortably use the biggest mices, yet I can't reach the opposite end of the screen with my thumb
Battery is roughly equal to the original Desire, both devices out of the box.
The biggest issue in my opinion is that they stuffed equal resolution on 0.6" bigger screen. Greater dot pitch usually means lower quality, I haven't used it enough to be 100% sure though.

The original Desire still has a lot of processing grunt compared to newer phones. Nothing is really better than it so to speak, a few phones are better at some things and worse at other but generally it's pretty level and just comes down to prefferance on a few features.
It'll be a sad day when I do retire my Desire its served me well so far and has at least a year left in it.

Using my desire over 10 months now. I'm still satisfied with it's performance.
It 's my first htc phone.
I've had some doubts about build quality before, because that was told to me.
I can say that i'm suprised. Beeing always in my pocket without case or screen protection, it is still looking like new.
It is still fast en reliable.
If i would by a new phone, would be desire again or maybe thinking about desire S.
my fist android
From a long line of old symbian nokias i finally decided to make a hole in my budget and to get a new phone. As i was keeping a close eye on Android and the HTC Desire for some time i got that phone.
It was a very good phone with it's stock froyo, and know it's an excellent phone with the Oxygen rom.
As some of the other members say, i do not see any good reason to upgrade maybe until dual-core HTC's come out.
The normal Desire is still up-to-date. But when the Desire S will be out there in the wild it will be the better one. Still that quite compact design, whithout the week points the original archives (internal mem, multitouch).
The cost-benefit analysis will show up that the older Desire will still be ok for a long time even bought new.
I bought my desire 3 months ago, and the only thing that annoys me is the 2-point touchscreen... Multi-touch is a must to a device like this but we can't have everything so apart from that is the best phone i've ever had ! Desire S is cool but in my opinion at the moment we're between a generation change so next stop is dual core, and desire s is single core. I will change my phone next year probably to a htc dual-core that will be announced this year.
My good old desire never lets me down !
I agree with everyone here. It has been an amazing phone. Its handled mass rom fllashhing and crazy overclocking and its handled it brilliantly. Had no problems with it at all. Rather have this than a Nexus, but I would like a DHD because the bigger screen.
I got a Galaxy Tab 4 months ago and since then my Desire has been neglected as it doesn't compete with the Tab. Recently got back into using it and I've realised why I fell in love with it.

I suggest you stick around with the HTC Desire till the end of the year or whenver Dual Core phones are released. The new models don't offer much of an advantage and I heard the HTC Desire HD has worst voice quality sound than the Desire....... The voice quality sound on the Desire is pretty terrible so I don't know how HTC managed to make it even worst with the Desire HD.
hopefully it will still work
I am not one for changing my phone when something new comes out and unless something breaks it will have to last me 2 years. The worry I have is will the microusb connecter last that long. Supposedly is it designed for up to 10,000 cycles of insertion but my niece has some sort of nokia with this connecter and its a struggle after 14 months to get it to charge (I have had to give her my htc lead and charger as it is the only one that works).
I don't like capitative keys, I had the ipod that had them and it was god awful to use , too sensitive. So the desire s is a step back from my pov
The desire is a nice phone and does me very well thanks
Only thing it is holding me back because it isn't popular phone so I might don't have much of support or any help for rooting, hardware issue or anything like that. I could just save $150 and go for HTC Desire, but I like 8mpx, front camera and the screen on HTC Incredible S. I like HTC Desire because it is quite popular and it has a lot of support, but Incredible S sounds and look much cooler.
Also excuse me for posting in wrong section, I couldn't find a correct section for general discussion of android phone (hardware).
EDIT: I posted this thread in both section Desire and Incredible S for unbiased opinion.
Two words. Incredible s. If you can wait get a sensation

Incredible S defenietly has better specifications, but it indeed does not have the same customrom / supportuserbase on xda yet.
Like stated above, the Sensation will be out in 1-2months, and thats a great phone. If you cannot wait and want a new phone now, perhaps the Desire HD is a valid option also (Better than regular Desire, similar specs to Incredible, but awesome support/userbase here on XDA).
Blah id get the lg optimus 2x for that amount of cash (dual corez)

I got an Arc to wait for the Sensation with root, I am considering to sell it and get a Desire or DHD just because the Arc while it has root it doesn't have any custom rom!
I sold my 1 year used N1 for 330$ 2 weeks ago so I think selling a Desire or DHD in 2 months will be pretty the same, whereas the SE price droping fast and its lack of popularity will mean that I will sell it for even less than a Desire.
So if you can't live without custom roms more than 2 weeks...buy a good old Desire or DHD!
The Sensation will be out between the 8th and 15th June, add to that another month to find a root and the price to decrease
Well, guys, thanks for replying, but why would you ever mention Sensation? I have a budget and I couldn't shell out that much of money and what I heard, dual-core is a battery drainer plus I don't want 4.3" screen as it's too big for me. Even 4" is, that's why I was going for Desire which is 3.7" or something.
Can you put custom ROM on Incredible S?
^If you're that worried about budget and everything, you might want to look into the Nexus S, it runs better than any of these phones (except dual-core), has decent dev support, is factory-unlocked, and it's more pocket-able than 4.3" phones.
If you're absolutely tied between the Desire and the Incredible S, then go for the Incredible S because of significantly better specs, a newer version of Sense and WAY more onboard memory.
To be honest, the main reasons people here work on custom roms, is because we don't have Sense 2.0 on the Desire without an Ace rom (DHD), because of memory limitations (147MB on stock partition table, vs 1.1GB in Incredible S), to make it run faster, or to run MIUI or AOSP.
Sense is great, and with the Incredible S, your phone will run better than a Desire running sense ever would, so go with that!

I couldn't go for Google Nexus S because it doesn't have support in Moscow, Russia e.g if I have hardware failure or such, I couldn't take it to the support.
Sounds like I wouldn't need to change ROM on Incredible S but I would like to be able to root it to have full power on it. Is Android applications depended of which phone model do you have (I'm already aware it's depended of android version)?
Also, is dev support is that important? If it is, then I guess I should fall back down to HTC Desire.
Also, I'm pretty tired of this 5 minutes limit for editing/posting, when will it get removed?
If you are in desperate need of a new phone and you can afford something more expensive than Desire, I think you should get either Incredible S or Nexus S.
If you can wait and still afford the price when it comes to the market, I think Sensation would be the better option.
The good old Desire is still a good option to get. Despite of all its weaknesses due to being an old model with old specs, Desire is very cheap at this moment, especially the second handed one.
I had a Desire about a year ago, then moved to the Samsung Galaxy S.
But just today I bought a Desire for £200 brand new, I couldn't resist as it's just such a good phone!
Running AdamG's Oxygen ROM on it now, it's so awesome!
Oh well I just discovered the weather from Sense 3.0 has been ported to DHD in a 100% workingl rom, the Desire will follow shortly
I guess it boils down to price for you by the sounds of it. Also consider if you are big in to gaming and video as Incredible GPU is much better than Desire from what I can remember. Is the Incredible locked though, as in bootloader/ROM's? Also something to bear in mind.

If you can I'd get a desire s sounds about right for you.

Hi there!
I just wanted to know which one is better, since I couldn't find a good comparison online...
They all feature 1GHz processors, but the Desire has a Adreno 200, while the other two have Adreno 205 (which is, according to WWW, better than 200...). But the Desire has an Amoled screen, the other Desire S has a S-LCD screen (don't know what's better but the 'amoled' sounds fancier), and the Desire HD has a LCD screen... I got the info about these phones on gsmarena.com...
I just want to know:
-what's better for gaming
-what's better for watching movies
-which one has better speakers, for playing music out loud
-what's better for just ... being a phone! - just your opinion (I don't care if it's subjective, just your feelings and thoughts if you ever held one and compared them.)
THANKS!
EDIT:
Yeah, sorry, the title is 'HTC Desire vs. Desire S vs. Desire HD... I want to know about all of them...
1)gaming: there are both even with the same GPU, CPU is 1GHz and there have the same ram 768
2) Watching films: i would say the desire S as it has a sharper resolution of 252 PPI were the desire HD has 216 PPI however the screen in HDH is bigger
3)sound- im not sure
here is the other things you might want to know:
1- camera HDH wins beacuse it has a 8MP where the desire s only has 5 MP howvere the desire s has a secondary camera with a 1.3 MP were to HDH hasnt there both 720p recording
2-battery: if you care about battary than the desire s has a better one.
3-talk time: desire S wins
Hope that helps
What about Desire, the original HTC Desire? It's GPU seems to be... low against S and HD... Anything about that?

You may as well forget about getting the Desire, there's no point now. It's old.
Desire S - looks good, good screen, good memory, good hardware.
Desire HD - Very bad battery life (from what I hear), sucky screen (but bigger), good hardware, good memory
I'd get a DesireS hands down. Actually.. if I was going to get a new phone it'd be a Galaxy Nexus, but out of those 3 the Desire S is the best choice.
Desire would be pointless compared to the desire s and HDH
and yes the HDH has a poor battery but the desire s and desire HD have similar specs but desire S wins for me
Thanks for the info! But about the price, which one is 'costier' and is it a good idea to buy a used android phone?
Sorry for bugging you...
P.S.
bortak, isnt that the desire in your signature? looks like it to me...
if u dont need htc sense, in my opinion the nexus s is the best compromise between price and performance at the moment
it already got ICS, better interface than the htc sense probably
The Desire is obsolete. No point in buying one now. While it's a good phone and can still hold its own, it has very low internal memory and that's a big problem now'days, as apps have gotten quite large (and interesting, which makes you wanna install more and more and more etc.). Sure, you can circumvent the low internal memory issue using an APPS2SD ROM, but why go through the hassle if you can completely avoid it?
In my opinion, the better phone between the three is the Desire S. Best battery life, easy to hold with one hand or fit in the pocket, decent screen, good GPU, good CPU, decent internal memory, Sense 3 straight from HTC, touch buttons (as opposed to physical buttons in the Desire, which are prone to failure). Just watch out for bad copies, as i've seen that there are quite a few people who had to return their phones because of mainboard issues. Some even got a replacement phone (brand new) with the same issue (mostly random reboots). So if you decide to get one, try and buy one which is still under warranty.
Regarding the HD and its low pixel density, that isn't that much of an issue in real life usage. The only thing about the HD is that it's quite big and it has quite a low battery life, making you need to carry your charger around with you.
If you're not really set on an HTC phone, yes, i have to agree, the Nexus S is best bang for buck ATM as ICS is quite the hit and it's gettin' it straight from Google, baby! Nothing faster than an AOSP ROM! Also, the ICS interface rocks!
Thanks, you guys!
but, about nexus, a used desire s costs three times less than a used nexus... anyways, the nexus is brand new here and people aren't showing much interest in it... besides, a new one costs ~650€ here and there are no used ones...
Nexus s or galaxy nexus

We're suggesting you buy a Google Nexus S, not a Google Galaxy Nexus. The Google Nexus S is basically a Samsung Galaxy S under the hood, the main difference being the fact that it gets all its updates straight from Google, including ICS (which Samsung isn't bringing to its Galaxy S line 'cause of "space reasons").
What about the screen res. between the nexus s and desire s? and the nexus s doesn't have radio... and they both have the same processor... so i'd reccommend the desire s more than nexus s...

desire is the worst of them.it is the worst for gaming and watching movies.for watching movies i guess desire hd is the best since it has a 4.3 inch screen. My opinion desire hd is the best of them all.and if you root you can even overclock the dhd to 1.5 ghz stable.desire isnt a good overclocker the stable rate is 1113.not sure about desire s.but it could probably get more overclocked then normal desire.Thats my opinion
