just got the new motorolla connected music app. its pretty sweet. does personal music, song look ups like shazam or from certain phrases in lyrics, displays lyrics for songs, and there is also a fm radio section. its pretty cool. worth a look.
anywho, if any1 is runnin this on their g2, has any1 gotten the fm radio to work? i'm tried every station, i get nothing. but i do get an fm volume rocker when tryin to change the volume so i know it can definately do fm radio. maybe the app is tryin to read the wrong model fm tuner/ wrong location? i'm clueless.
would love to get fm radio runnin on my gingerbread g2.
Did you try with the headphones plugged in the phone while on the radio?

Hello, i've been usually listening to the FM radio, but while searching for a dark widget for the music player i tried PowerAmp, and tried the earphones and I noticed that it started playing the FM radio, and the PowerAmp song at the same time.
I though this could be that the process auto starts with earphone or something, so used Task Killer and Android Assistant but there isn't anything about radio, or the normal player there...
I tried opening the music app, going to the radio and it shows like it is working, try to press the mute button and nothing happens, i try changing station and the same ...
I downloaded this app http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903103 and tried to open it while this problem was going on, it just was stuck on 'loading fm radio...'
anyone knows what this could be about? how can i stop the damn radio? I want to listen to my songs too!
Stock radio app? Click on headphones icon in center

This issue has been reported before. You might do a search of Moto forums.

Right, I didn't remember about the moto forums, I found the topic:
https://supportforums.motorola.com/message/306546#306546
Only solution I found is to turn off phone and reboot.
I'm wondering if this possible through a setting somewhere that I'm missing...
With my bluetooth device, the only thing I can do is chat on the phone. I'd love to be able to hear other things as well. Most notably, I would really, really love to be able to hear my Google NAV directions through bluetooth rather than the phone speaker. I can't figure out how to do that though. I'd also love to be able to listen to music through it.
Anybody know how to do this? Can it be done on the Epic?
Thanks for the assistance in advance.
GP
Not all devices are capable of ad2p (Bluetooth media audio). If your device is, you can go into bluetooth settings, long press the device, hit "Options", then tick the checkbox for Media Audio.
So I'll need to look for a headset that is ad2p capabe. Thank you for that very good info. I'll start looking for that now. I assume that our Epic's are set up for a2dp just fine....right?? As long as I have the right headset, I should be able to take advantage of the option?
Is there a way to spoof a2dp to stream music? Like an app or bt module? I remember being able to listen to music on bt without this profile on dk28 or I'm crazy but I swear I did.

J,
I found an app called "Bluetooth Audio Widget" (Pub: KokasIT) on the market. It does the job. Try the free 5 day trial and see if that does the trick for you. Appears to work on some phones/setups, not on others. I'm not really having any issues with it other than I had to stop and restart the service a couple times because the connection was poor, so the volume was real low. Once I restarted the widget, it worked fine. Listened to directions on the GPS, and a good bit of music last night.
Yup, there's an app called BT super mono froyo. I had the free trial installed for a while. I'm not positive about nav directions, but I know you can listen to music through your BT with it.
Thank you fellas will try both.

So there I am, getting in my car in the morning, ready to drive to work, I turn it on, get ready to pull out
OH MY GOODNESS SOME TECHNO I HAD ON THE NIGHT BEFORE IS AUTO BLASTING OVER BLUETOOTH
Yeah, that's the "feature" of having bluetooth media autoplay. Besides turning off all bluetooth media features is there a way to prevent Winamp or whatever other stock media player is on the phone from blasting away as soon as it connects?
(Rooted, Cyanogen 7)
Did you try clearing defaults for the applications in the applications menu?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
No defaults set for Winamp or any other music application that I can find.
It's just when the Bluetooth connects it starts to play. Mine does it with Cyanogen, wife's phone does it with the stock Sprint Sense rom.
So I guess this is just one of those feature/bugs of Android that has no fix?
My dual BT headset turns on the stock HTC player whilst playing threw Winamp. It does this when I press play after a paused interruption. I'm using misfits speedy Rom and it happens to me. I can't set a default player either. Well i tried.

Has anyone solved this problem. It is rather annoying. I don't want to have to remove all the mp3's from my phone just to stop it from doing this.
I like to use Pandora for my radio, but everytime I turn on my car I have to take the time to tell the music player to knock it off...

I purchased a JV KD-R730BT which uses BT to stream audio. It is pretty awesome. The only issue is that the player does not stream the actual MP3 Tag info with certain music apps. I have been using Power Amp which is awesome but nothing on the player. When I use the default music app built into android it does. Anyone else with any experience in this or suggestions?
And what are some other good music apps I might be able to try?
Thanks.

I'm using an Alpine 133BT, which I bought recently and LOVE being able to stream music wirelessly. I've also noticed that not all music apps transmit the ID3 MP3 tag.. I noticed that after updating to ICS, the Google Music app (which I prefer) will send the tag info to the headset. The only issue I have (and might be related to my deck) is that I have to toggle the songname/artist on the deck for each song, the tag info doesn't get updated every time I switch songs. I have to toggle the info off and then on to refresh it on the head unit.. frustrating.
I want to be like you guys when I grow up.
i use a JVC double din BT unit and mine does not transfer any tags to the player either, But Im not sure if its dependant on the phone or the actual head unit

I just ordered one of these from Crutchfield. It's supposed to be in Thursday. Mind if I ask if every connects quickly and properly? Have you tried using the JVC app to control the music?
I have a Kenwood bluetooth unit and it always displays info for songs no matter what app I stream with. Connects very fast and call quality is excellent.

for my exact same setup in my car, when i had my epic 4g no info was transferred from any app, also text message reading wasn't supported so i think the phone has a big role since now with the Epic 4G touch the stock player shows song info.

what apps have you tried? Also can you take a picture of it for us?
Only the stock player transmits song info for me as well. I have tried grooveshark, tune in radio, slacker, mortplayer, miui player, pandora and slacker.

Sorry for the late response.. i totally forgot about my thread here.. (moving around)
For the most part it connects fine. Sometimes it can be quirky but overall it is good. The Voice Talk app automatically opens and when you say the wake up command you can launch the default 'Music' player.
The JVC app to me is garbage. Just use the Voice Talk... set it to listen for the voice prompt on BT connect and you will be fine.
I'm not sure if this is a limitation of my new JVC deck, my ROM (liquid smooth), or the playback software I use (poweramp).
Does anybody else stream music to an aftermarket deck via BT, and have artist/track/album info show up? I can control with my steering wheel and deck just fine regarding next, previous, pause/play but no data appears to be displayed on the deck at all and it's kind of disappointing.
What are the chances another S3 owner is reading this forum who also uses a JVC deck (jvc kw-av61bt at that) that doesn't have the same issues.
I've never had my phone on stock trying to work with this unit, but have tried apollo music player with same results.

I just got the unit and only about a day of using it and from the first 10 minutes during bluetooth audio playback from my galaxy s3 it was streaming the info of the songs and i can pause and hit next and fast forward perfectly. Mine is not rooted and i am not using power amp i was thinking of buying the app but now that you mention that problem i am not sure anymore.
an update. I've tried with the stock rom on my GS3 sprint and it works fine, so I know it's to do with the ROM and/or kernel. love using liquid smooth and have tried using leankernel to no avail. It's tough to search out what to try next, any suggestions?
