Sorry if this has been addressed in another thread, but I haven't been able to find a good answer.
The Bluetooth stack for HTC Sense based android phones has some Bluetooth limitations that do not allow it to pair to Bluetooth game controllers, keyboards, and in some instances mobile (car) audio. I am not a developer so I only have a basic understanding how this works, but I've read that it is due to the SPP profile included being out of date.
A lot of Incredible owning Ford Sync and BMW drivers out there seem to be having issues syncing the Incredible, and I personally would like to be able to use a Wii controller or the Zeemote with my device. I bought a Zeemote for mobile gaming, but I gave it to my Droid X owning friend because it works great on stock Android, but refused to Sync with either my Incredible or another friend's Evo.
Does anyone (especially those people porting non Sense Android 2.2 to the Incredible) know if it would be possible to replace the HTC Bluetooth stack with a stock Android 2.2 Bluetooth stack? Ideally a user installable (with Root of course) APK.
I'd also like to know if this is possible/why it is not, even though I'm increasingly falling in love with CyanogenMod (especially as 6 seems to be nearing a stable release)
You have to download Bluetooth file transfer app from the market. Works perfectly.

Officially, Android does not support BT HID, which is needed for wiimote.
Cynaogenmod has added it via one of the devs who made it possible.
Their code is on github, if you want to attempt trying to port it to Sense based roms.
It's interesting that the Non HTC phones i've tried it on have worked fine if it is a problem with Android in general. I guess Motorolla added their own stack.
Try it on a samsung phone. Its not HTC only.

All we need to do is find an amazing chef like the guy over at Phandroid who makes the FrankenROM. I have 100% faith that guy could pull it off if he tried. He is freaking amazing!
Yes, can someone fix this. Full bluetooth functionality on 2.2 would be awesome!
Good to know about the Samsungs also having this issue. I've not had the opportunity to test a Samsung Android phone. Seems everyone I know has HTC or Motorolla.

Serious question...
As the Epic is the first Android phone I've rooted I've not experienced the Cyanogenmod ROM?
What makes it so great to want it so badly in the forums?
I mean we have great ROMs like Midnight, SRF, Frankenstien, Bonsai? (sorry if I didnt mention the other great ROMs available just didn't want to sit here and name them all as there are alot!)
So can someone give opinions on why it is so awesome?
Its based on gingerbread and was built from the source code.... We have a beta version for the epic... I flashed it a couple months ago and kept it for 2 days just to check it out... You should give it a shot...

I would give it a shot but I need it to be fully functional haha as I use the features that are broken
it is the hyped but up so much but it lives up to the hype.
If you were to tell someone four or five years ago. That a group of developers were going to take on a project to deliver a true open source experience and environment with nightly builds on a mobile phone they would have laughed at you. They would have laughed at you more when you tell him about this that this development team would be able to push Operating systems updates faster than manufactures of the phone itself.
The cyanogen mod is completely built from source so it does not include bloatware and no overlay
I for one love cyanogen mod not only does it add needed features, if theres an problem its discussed openly and the maintainer will actually let you know whats going on, if a fix is coming or its just totally borked. whereas with the telco or manufacturer they tell you that its not an issue and lie to you

Cyanogenmod, as stated above, is built from the ground up using source providing a true AOSP experience. This gives us the advantages of a fully custom and functional ROM without the disadvantages of having to wait for manufacturers to push out updates and having to wait for them ever so long. What makes it stand out from the other ROMS still is that since it is built from source, the ROM is being specifically built for our device, which will in return will take advantage of our phones unique hardware/capabilities to deliver an even richer ROM experience. Bottom line, once we get Cyanogenmod fully functioning on our Epics, that's when I will say th Epic has lived up to its true potential

Probably because you didn't read the post right also. CyanogenMod does not include ANY Google apps. There is a flash-able zip that has all of them for you to install.
Google doesn't allow them to include it in their ROM, but (as said) you can flash them.
What is the holdup with Cyanogenmon, for the Epic?
What is different about the source available for our phone, then the source available for the EVO? That allowed it to be ported to the EVO so much quicker??
Cyanogen mod is the fastest and lightest rom there is. There is also a bunch of really awesome cosmetic features such as you can change any of the drop down toggles and add them. The themes that you can get for cyanogen are awesome I don't remember some of the other features but it also has amazing battery life so that's why it is the most sought after rom. The slow down is samsungs propriatary drivers and the manpower to do this quickly but once they either have this kernel booting or we get official gb it will come faster quoting nullghost one of the developers on the cm7 team for the epic.

from what i know, the cm7 team is trying to port over a Nexus kernel to the Epic but are having troubles at the moment doing so. once the kernel is up and running tho, everything should move along much smoother. Once GB source drops, that should also help the devs out immensely.

hey barnacles,
if you grab the 'official' rom from miui.com or even the int'l sgs2 miui port from xda, all you need to do is swap the zimage with one of the epic 4g touch's (like LoStKernel) and it will boot up and function (maybe what the OP of this thread did, didn't download to see). Data and wifi were no go. If I remember, the cameras were working though unlike what this OP says. I've been working on this here and there but I definitely dont have as much free time as I'd like as I'm getting ready to move to the other side of the earth.
I'll be more than happy to answer questions and/or help development going as soon as I can put some time aside to work on this.

I'm not a fan of the MIUI ROM(its to iPhone-ish IMHO) but I still wanted to say thank you for this post. Although I know it wasn't its purpose, it did point me to the SkyRocket's Development, and Themes & Apps Section, and man do they have some goodies over there, which I never would've found had it not been for this post, so thanks again!
so you essentially made small tweaks and got aosp based rom from sgs2 int to boot? if so, nice. I wonder if this works with CM7 as well.

Hi Guys,
Not sure if anyone has looked into this yet as its pretty new, but Chainfire has built an odin app that can run directly on the phone. Epic 4g is not yet supported but I've provided the info needed to get support (Post# 243). Hopefully we will get support in a near version!

EDIT: I discovered xboxfanj has already provided the Epic info a couple days ago (was searching for sph-d700), props to you for submitting first, but it looks like he needs dump from stock RFS filesystem so hopefully my dump (on EI22 deodexed/pre-rooted stock) will satisfy the requirement. Especially because we don't have a EI22 tar yet for an easy way to get back to stock.

A quick look at Chainfire's thread shows that version 1.2 has support for the Epic TOUCH, not the original. I'll try to get a hold of him to see if the Touch at least has enough similarities that the original Epic can also be supported.

one more just in case...
There is no way I could build on my PC it would take a week just to finish, by then we would be on CM 11, but yes this is a port of the n7100 CM10 nightly from today, the connection issues are because there is no modem I am sure, or at least not one that I can find, and I can't make it stick, and the sound is because it is set up for the n7100, that should be an easy fix that I will work on tonight.
Thinking about this, I'm not sure it will ever get cell network. Because there needs to be a compiled kernel with the Qualcomm modem enabled. And since this is the 7100 it doesn't have lte. So even with the correct ril files, it won't work.
We need an aosp kernel with Qualcomm modem support.
If someone wanted to look at the quicnyatt defconfig on cyanogenmod's site, you might get inside for the defconfig needed for the smdk4412

The quincy has the old snapdragon 1.5, it does not have the new msm8960 as the S3's do. Also its not about modules. I've downloaded source and its pretty horrible, as most Samsung crap is.
Compiling a kernel would work from sources, it just has to support aosp, since CM uses its own ramdisk too.

I am all for pure AOSP I just don't know how to do much. I am happy to help test but that is about the extent of capabilities right now. I love my stylus but don't need all the stylus "shortcuts". I ran AOSP on my note one and the stylus worked great even did good for the harder you pressed on the stylus the darker it would write. The only thing I lost were all the button and shortcuts integrated with touchwiz. I used papyrus as my snote/smemo replacement and actually prefer it over the Samsung crap that lost my memos every time I flashed anything.

Yeah, I'll chime-in, too. Only thing I'm missing on this phone is AOSP ROM's. TouchWiz is TouchJiz. Specific features or not, AOSP is where it's at, and I would seriously consider returning this device if AOSP development was to do anything on the lines of cease. Frankly, it's killing me that there hasn't been more AOSP dev'ing up to this point. Devs are all we end-users have, and believe me, if I had any talent in that realm, I'd be offering my limbs towards development. Only thing, is I'm merely a user. I will test anything I'm able to, though! My precious phablet is my personal lab rat! Hehe...

There is no firmware in /system/etc. The only firmware is vendor/firmware.
And isn't ro.telephony back from gingerbread? Or is than an aosp thing? Its not in stock Samsung firmware.
Also even with those correct, we still don't have a kernel with Qualcomm modem support. So until we get that. Its dead in the water.
Your better off trying the 7100 rom on the 317. Since we already have a supported kernel.
Also remember DEVELOPMENT ONLY. Ask yourself. Will this aid in the development of this rom before posting!

Quincyatt won't be useful. There's a HUGE difference between a complete integrated Qualcomm SoC such as found in the quincyatt and d2 family, and a Qualcomm modem hung off of the Exynos4.
So far, no one has yet to figure out the proper defconfig for this. Although probably you could get it by looking at the Perseus N7105 defconfig.
Looks like CONFIG_QC_MODEM might do the trick?

I care! 1000%! I've never used that crappy pen. AOSP is the only thing I care about.
I am also all for aosp just let me know how to help. What we've tried already is replacing the entire vendor and csc and build.prop from i317 and dropping into a n71xx ROM and flashing. In addition have tried a large number of random RIL associated files from i317 into n71xx ROM and still no dice with the modem. Have made sure that no modem or kernel are being flashed while doing this. Logcat -b radio still spits out RIL related crap. I don't know enough about kernels to mess with defconfig unfortunately but I'm willing to help however I can. Fwiw replacing vendor/CSC/build.prop was enough to get a sprint note 2 ROM to work on T-Mobile thanks to someone who did that already.
My time is limited but let me know if some of you guys want to chat about this together on irc or something. I'm on freenode a few days a week after 9pm EST.
Edit: I should clarify all the things above that we tested (lpsi2000 and I) were TW based ROMs but getting the modem to fire up in whichever sense when porting things from n71xx I would guess should apply.
Thanks Entropy for pointing out that. I have to add kernel to my long list of things to learn more about in detail.

Trust me, you're not alone. AOSP would make this phone absolutely perfect.
