I'm on bonsai rom. My question is when I first flashed bonsai rom and I then decided to put a theme on it I flashed it and the wallpaper changed to match the theme. This last time I flashed bonsai rom I changed the wallpaper to a stock one that was on the phone. I then flashed the theme and everything flashed correctly except the wallpaper didn't change. I've tried my three favorite themes and it's all like this. Why does the wallpaper change when I don't change the original wallpaper but if I changed the wallpaper to a stock one before I flash the theme it won't change the wallpaper it just leaves the stock o e there and themes everything else? How can I get the wallpaper to match my theme? thanks
strange, I installed viper rom and same thing happened. When I reflashed it, I had a wallpaper of mine.
This had been an issue across two phones for me. This is my solution and other themers should do this as well. I open launcher2 and overwrite one or two of the wall papers (stock) with ones for the theme so all you have to do is long press on the screen and use the regular wallpaper menu.
The wall paper is inside the zip in system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/default_wallpaper.jpg you call pull it out and manually place it on your sd card.

Default_wallpaper.jpg I have that file on my SD card and its the pic that matches my theme I have installed. How do I over write a stock one with this one? Thanks.

Ive read the instructions for themeing , and while i can see rooting , but to me its just easier to change wallpaper in dI18 stock.
not trying to knock you but sometimes i think we tinker too much lol
I have the wallpaper on my Sd card and I open up launcher2 and I can see all rlthe wallpapers there but I can't figure out how to overwrite a stock one with the one on my SD card. If I click on one I can view it and if I long press I get extract. I just be doing something wrong.

Here's my stand on the wallpaper issue. The framework has a default wallpaper.jpg. So when you flash a rom it displays the default wallpaper. When flashing a theme it changes that default wall paper. No if you changed your wallpaper before flashing the theme the default wallpaper gets changed but you already changed the default wall paper. This is why I provided both wallpapers in my op of mg theme thread. I dunno how to write the edify script to add something to the sdcard. Once I figure that out the wallpapers work be on your sd card if you choose to use one

Well I figured out a way to get it to work. I took the wallpaper that I pulled from the framework and pasted it into my dcim/camera and just selected gallery and then that photo for my wallpaper.

I was going to try to remove them with NinjaMorph from Stericson, but the phone just reboots during initial checks. I am running slidemeroot2.
Its in the htc resources apk ..you have to be rooted because its a system file
or you can edit one of the themes, resign the apk and install on your phone

they are called Containers. they are located in themes under drawable-land and drawable-port
3 files in each folder
Dude you mind posting the signed apk with out them? I can't find my folder with my signing tool. I'm searching for what I used to use on the forums. Also I'm guessing to install you did it with adb install (or did you push) to system/app? ..mounted in recovery of course
you can download slidemeroot5 from eugene. her already removed bubbls in this build
I'd say your best bet without root would be to try adw launcher or launcher pro. probably the easiest route, anyway.
Like Mayormullet said, LauncherPro will do just want you want and give you a more useful menu bar. I can't live without it.
ADW will too, but I didn't like it as much.
I have the stock rom and I have rooted through visionary and it works for what I want but would like the black notification bar and the battery/signal from the sense (the more square green battery)
Is there a way to change it without having to flash another rom? Sorry if it's posted elsewhere I've looked and haven't found anything on it
you could use metamorph
Hmm...well since I've never used Metamorph I'm a little lost on which themes I can use and which I can't. Is it any that people have labeled as [Theme]?

i dont use it so i couldnt tell you ... try searching for one and you may find it
metamrph is app from the market. if a theme is for metamorph it will be labled on the topic title [morph] or [metamorph] or it will be labled on the op. some are rom specific but most arent. download metamorph and andexplorer the 2 work together. MM will then put a folder on ur sd called android themes. download a metamorph and it is in zip file, place it in android themes and apply via the MM app. now if u find a MM like inspira, you can take the imigaes out of the morph that is a zip file on ur comuter and edit the images to ur likeing and take out the images u dont want changed. but make sure u put the new images back in the zip folder or remove the images u dont want in the zip folder. so take the inspira MM and put it on ur computer extract the files and look for the status bar image in the framewrk-res folder. i cant remember i believe its called status bar background. and edit it to ur likeing via paint.gimp.or photoshop. you can even download other metamorphs extract the imigaes u want say the sense battery indicator u want. or even take the images from a stock sense rom. you will find something in system/framework/ called frameworl-res.apk. put it on ur computer and rename it to framework-res.zip instead of apk and extract the files. find the battery images and replacve them in ur morph. google or youtube how to make a metamorph. its really simple and once u start making themes u really start to know ur way around the android system
edit; im getting a laptop in 2 weeks. when i do ill make an awsome youtube video on how to morph and make them
Sounds fairly easy once I find a metamorph theme, I can do the editing from there..my biggest question though would be if I edit the bar to black it would keep the clock black correct? From what I remember with CM roms they had the option to change the clock color but without that it seems like it will stay black am I correct?

and look at the frameworks, its what i did
Are you on the stock rom? I haven't wanted to switch roms cause I use the wireless hotspot from time to time
I guess I have 2 problems. The first is, I was attempting to install the nexus s live wallpaper download, and I couldn't get it to work at all. I tried the update zip way, and I also tried the livewallpapers.apk. method, to no avail. Finally, I just gave up, and decided to move the original livewallpaper.apk back into system/app and deleted the nexus s download. The problem now is that my original live wallpapers wont show up in my personolize/home wallpaper settings any more. My evo is rooted and im running the warm 2.2 rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, I'm not exactly sure why it isn't working, but can you flash to a recent backup? I typically install live wallpapers the simple apk method and have no troubles with it.
Thanks for the response. I did in fact flash to a recent backup and now the original live wallpapers are back. Too bad I wasnt able to use the nexus s live wallpapers though.

Hi,
First time posting here but I've been rooted and flashing roms for about a year now. I'm having a problem with keeping the stock wallpaper that comes baked into the Jellybomb Domination Rom. I'm running the kernel that comes with the rom. I've deleted all downloaded wallpapers from my gallery, but as soon as I flash the rom and choose a launcher, it reverts back to the previously deleted wallpaper. I can't figure out where the heck it's pulling the old image from. I've cleared cache, dalvik cache and I've even done a data-reset, but the deleted wallpaper is still somewhere. Has anybody come across this? I've been searching ES File Explorer for hours but can't find anything. Also forgot to mention, the wallpapers were downloaded from Wallpaper Casa. I know it's not a huge issue, but I like the stock Jellybomb wallpaper and the dev hasn't posted them.
Hi there,
Recentley I dived in the rom world. First to try out was CM but somewhere I read that Xylon is a nice and stable rom as well so I went and tryed it. I love it specially that dark background I noticed CM didnt have it, for my screen is specially good cause I have for some reason burn ins. But. I want to make 2 small modifications in it and I havent figured out how:
1. I'd like to change the loading animation which I find boring to say at least.
2. I cant make the desktop to rotate.
If someones knows and has the time to help me out I'd apreaciate it.
Thank you.
Theres a tutorial here on XDA for changing boot animations. Pretty sure it's just a matter of switching out the file with a file manager. Desktop rotation would be enabled in the launcher settings. If the one you have doesn't allow for desktop rotation there are a bunch of them available through the Play Store. Nova is a good one. Just search for "launcher replacements".

That's the thing. I know of 2 places where loading animation must be placed but in Xylon I didnt have bootanimation.zip there and the one I placed didnt got loaded.
I installed Nova on Xylon and activated the option(s) to rotate desktop but it doesnt work, it works on CM however. With Xylon I can only rotate the lockscreen, not much use of it tough.

Maybe you didn't find the animation because the default Android boot logo files (2 .png files in framework-res.apk) are replaced with the custom ones....
Just flash one boot animation into /system/media/ and that's it.
Check rotation settings... there may also be tweak for JB 4.2.2 launcher to enable rotation (build.prop).. I'm not using Xylon ROM so I don't know which launcher it is using..
I managed with Nova Launcher to fix the desktop rotation. However, Xylon is a bit defferent then the rest of the rom's out there. The loading animation is located in the system/bin directory and is named bootanimation only, without .zip. Looks like it's out of the question to load an animation on Xylon.

No no no...
It's an Bin file that is needed and it have been in Android maybe since Android 1.5... It's not the file you are looking for! DO NOT touch that file if you don't want mess up anything!
open the ROM .zip file and go to this folder: /system/frameworks/ and open framework-res.apk and then locate to /assets/images/ check: android-logo-mask and -shine.png then you'll find that what you are looking for!
Nothing bad happened when I removed it but in the meantime I reinstalled the rom for other reasons. I managed to succesfully install other loading animations from recovery but the cyanogenmod loading animation still eludes me somehow. I can't get that working

Just download one flashable boot animation .zip (not bootanimation.zip) then open the flashable .zip and replace bootaniamtion.zip with CM's bootanimation.zip and flash the boot aniamtion.
Should be in either /system/media or /data/local

Well, I tried just now. I copied the bootanimation.zip into a working file and flashed it but the loader returns to the Xylon loading animation. I can flash any loading animation but the one from CM not.
