I guess I have 2 problems. The first is, I was attempting to install the nexus s live wallpaper download, and I couldn't get it to work at all. I tried the update zip way, and I also tried the livewallpapers.apk. method, to no avail. Finally, I just gave up, and decided to move the original livewallpaper.apk back into system/app and deleted the nexus s download. The problem now is that my original live wallpapers wont show up in my personolize/home wallpaper settings any more. My evo is rooted and im running the warm 2.2 rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, I'm not exactly sure why it isn't working, but can you flash to a recent backup? I typically install live wallpapers the simple apk method and have no troubles with it.
Thanks for the response. I did in fact flash to a recent backup and now the original live wallpapers are back. Too bad I wasnt able to use the nexus s live wallpapers though.

WELL what you can do it do a google search on nexus live wallpapers apk file, then install them from the root of your sd card.

I never really use Live Wallpapers on my Evo, but I noticed today that the option is completely gone now. HW 003 with latest stock OTA rooted with unrevoked.
Menu -> Wallpaper from the stock home screen and Launcher Pro Plus are both missing the Live Wallpapers option, and if I try to open a Live Wallpaper from the Market (which installs fine), it tells me my phone does not support Live Wallpapers.
The two things I can think of that I've done lately are installing Launcher Pro Plus and running Fix Permissions from ROM Manager (seeking better battery life). Currently my LiveWallpapers.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk have permissions of 644, but changing them to 777 seems to have no effect (even after a reboot).
I tried several things last night:
uninstalled Launcher Pro
reinstalled busybox
ran fix permissions from Clockwork Recovery
attempted to reinstall LiveWallpapers.apk
I say attempted because the install failed on both LiveWallpapers.apk and LiveWallpapersPicker.apk. I grabbed these from the latest Sprint OTA update.
Now, according to Astro, both apk's are in /system/apps, but there is no uninstall option, just install.
Can anyone lend me a hand? I have a nandroid backup from a few weeks ago, but I don't really want to flash it unless it's absolutely necessary. Thanks in advance.

I don't use ROM Manager for anything. It is far too easy and more productive to do things manually. Using Root Explorer or another file manager that lets you alter system files, you can easily maneuver to the /system/app folder, select the live wallpaper .apk, select Mount R/W and set the permissions to however you see fit. Hopefully, you've made a nandroid backup of your device PRIOR to making the changes that have caused you these problems. If not, get in the habit of doing so because if things go wrong or you find that you want to return things back to the way they were prior to the change(s), all you have to do is nandroid restore. Everything would be as it was.

Thanks for the response. Root Explorer is indeed how I set the apk's permissions to 777 just to test. I'm not in the habit of making nandroid backups unless I'm flashing something.
I'm not trying to blame ROM Manager and/or Launcher Pro, just wracking my brain trying to figure out how I got here. I could have very easily lost Live Wallpapers long before either of those.
Edit Update:
I broke down and flashed to my nandroid backup from sometime before running fix permissions and installing Launcher Pro... still no Live Wallpapers option. Now I'm out of ideas.

It's been a while since I've used LauncherPro extensively, but and I could be mistaken, but there's a chance that the HTC live wallpaper may be off limits while using LP like many of the HTC widgets are. The reason I say this is because your nandroid restore from long before your fix did not produce any live wallpapers. Do this, if you have the time: go into the applications menu, clear defaults after scrolling down and selecting LauncherPro. Press the home button and then select Sense as your launcher. Now select a live wallpaper and see if it displays. If it does then you know they are off limits to LP.

Well, my nandroid was from before I ever installed Launcher Pro, and I'm testing with more than just the HTC live wallpapers, but clearing defaults and data for Launcher Pro changed nothing.
Hello all,
I have tried to install live wallpaper of water(just like galaxy s) as per the procedure mentioned in one of the post here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161063
. But now there is no option of live wallpaper in wallpaper menu. How can i get it back?

Ask in that thread, make sure to note what rom you are using etc
Already posted there. But opened new thread so that more people can help me. My phone details are
PDA I9000XWKF3
PHONE I9000DDKE4
CSC I9000DDKF3
I have rooted my phone n replaced livewallpapers.apk with given in that thread under system/apps taking backup of original file. But now i m not able to set live wallpapers. So pls help me if someone is having any solution. Or i have to do factory rest. Does it solve the problem? And does factory reset erase all the data on main memory n will i have to install all aps again?
Thanks in advance.

Ok. I think I should explain in depth what I have done.
I want Water Live Wallpaper of Galaxy S and for that I found a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161063.
But first I connected to Samsung Kies 2.0 and updted my phone to
PDA I9000XWKF3
PHONE I9000DDKE4
CSC I9000DDKF3
and according to that thread, I need to root my phone. So I flashed kernal to GT-I9100_XWKF3_insecure and rooted my phone using odin method. After root, I again flashed kernal to GT-I9100_XWKF3_original as found in one of the thread. After that I followed the method of replacing livewallpapers.apk as mentioned in above thread. But after that, there is no option for live wallpaper selection in Wall paper option. I thought that factory reset will solve the problem so I done factory reset (2 times) but still I am not having option of Live Wallpaper. Now pls somebody help n let me know what would be the problem? Is it the update which I done using Kies? Coz I think after factory reset, everything should be as defaulted. Or is thare any other way to enable live wallpaper? I also downloaded some live wallpaper from market n they got successfully installed but didnt find Live Wallpaper option.
ive searched the forums...ive searched google and even manual for the HTC One V and i cannot for the life of me find a thing on how to (or where to) install themes ive downloaded and installed onto the device??
help would be appreciated, i just cannot figure this out and im sure its prob easy too? :silly:
What themes?
There is nothing called 'themes'! Is there? If you're not using any launcher, then in HTC Sense 4.0, we have to go to the HTC Hub and download themes/skins (as far as I know). And if you're using a launcher such as Apex, you'll have to go to the Play Store and download themes and they automatically get installed! Then where's the point of 'where to install themes?'
If you've downloaded the APK Theme Files of some launcher, then you just need to copy them to the SD Card and run and install them. Then it will be displayed in the corresponding launcher. :^)
It'll be better if you specify the extension of the theme files you've downloaded and the launcher you're using.

Well, you cant install any 3rd party themes in the stock rom. For that, you need to be running on custom roms (like CM9 based roms), even then, the themes have to be resolution specific.
The only way to customize the appearance of your OS is via Settings --> Personalize. There are a bunch of themes available ( not very beautiful though.)
okay...now im really confused??
some say use a file explorer, soforth but you are stating it cannot be done??
so, i cannot install my themes at all??

pls be generous enough to share from where u got themes (dont say they are live wallpapers)
to get into sdcard use xplore file manager by lcg or the es file explorer .....!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just to clear the confusion here,
If you are not rooted and are using the stock HTC Sense ROM without any 3rd party launchers then the only themes that you can use are the ones in the HTC hub.
If you do not wish to root but wanna install themes, i suggest you install Go Launcher, Apex or any other 3rd party launcher that is available in the play store, themes for these will also be available there.:good:
i think it was the play store i DLd to my PC then installed onto SDcard on device.
as it stands, it is using HTC stuff....i have no idea how to get a "launcher", i dont know a thing of "rooting"

follow this link,
(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gau.go.launcherex&hl=en) on your pc
click the button "install"
once you click it, it will ask you for a gmail account
use the same gmail account that you have used on your one v (assuming that you are connected to 2g/3g or WIFI from your phone)
once it accepts the credentials.
the download will start on your PHONE, there is no way to dl an app to your pc via play store.
you dont have to worry about installing it, once it is dl'd it will auto install
try to learn how this launcher works, use it for a few days, if you are not satisfied then you can give other launchers a go using play store app from your phone or using your browser to go to https://play.google.com/store
Enjoy:good:
Hi. Cudnt ask this in the ROM thread so hope someone here can answer. Flashed the latest Sparkplug ROM. While setting up my screen I noticed there wasnt a music app. I thought maybe I froze it but the ony thing available is a music widget. When I expanded the zip using 7zip I see data/app contains htcmusic.apk but cannot find it anywhere on my phone. Cannot access the widget from the home screen widget setup cause its not listed as a widget.

That may have been removed or broken in the process of optimizing the ROM (I can't speak for the developer, hopefully he will have a better answer). For now, you can install something like Google Play Music which works well on Sense ROMs. The only thing it will lack that the HTC music player has is lockscreen controls.
Edit: You say htcmusic.apk is in /data/app/ ? It should be in /system/app/ to work, if my thinking is correct.
I think I know what the problem is. You need to boot into recovery, format /system, then re-install the ROM.
back story:
I managed to pick up another inc today and flashed Sparkplug to it, I'm planning on setting it up for my wife. I had the same problem, music and many other of the HTC sense apps were installed, though they did not show up in the menu, and the sense widgets didn't show up in the widgets menu either, something was definitely up with the Sense UI stuff, though the phone ran fine and some of the apps (like flashlight) worked just fine. I had rooted, downgraded, and gotten s-off, then installed the ROM. I had done a factory reset but I had not wiped /system, and that was the problem I think. I installed the ROM the first time with ClockworkMod recovery (I figured that would be needed for s-off to work).
Anyway, I installed TWRP recovery (because I like that better), wiped /system, cache, and dalvik, then installed the ROM again (did NOT do a factory reset this time). As I suspected, all the HTC apps are there and work now, including the music player. I highly doubt usinc TWRP or CWN will make a difference, but I think you need to format /system and reinstall the ROM.
Ok. I tried it. Formatted the system & reflashed. Music APK still was not available but the music widget was. Then I installed ADW launcher & the widget disappeared. So if I want music, I cant use ADW. Think ill just head on back over to touch of blue.
music.apk on Sparkplug
Noticed the same thing here. Anyone know where to get music.apk and how to properly install it? Thanks.
Edit: Never mind, found the answer. I can't post outside links yet so... Google "612827 need music apk file" and that should get you a link to androidforums.com. It's for the Galaxy but the file identified in comment #5 worked for me. Just ran it from my Internet browser using "file:///sdcard/Music.apk" and everything worked. Hope this helps the OP if he is still looking for an answer.
I recently got an S3, I rooted and installed the stock AT&T rom and then ran the Ashaman debloat tool. I never tried to access live wallpapers before or during this process, but I see they are missing. When I go to display settings and go to change the wallpaper, my only options are Gallery and Wallpapers, no Live Wallpapers. I've seen on others' S3 phones this is usually an option. Also, I found the apks for some of the default live wallpapers and tried to install those. They installed fine but when I tried to run one, it showed a pop up message that said something like "It looks like like wallpapers are not available on this device! Please check with the manufacturer..."
Does anyone know if I may have unintentionally uninstalled live wallpaper support? Or how to manually install it back in?

Odin back to stock. Root. Try again (omitting the Live wallpaper option).
