It depends on what kernel you want to use (sense kernel/Aosp etc.)
I suggest to read through the kernel threads in the desire android developent section.
For me coutt's sense kernel is working fast.

Hello
Thread title says everything. Want to know whether a sense based or an asop rom has the lower battery drain. Maybe somebody who has already had both types of roms on his DHD could post here some informations.

Usually an asop one uses less battery but its easy enough to have a sence based ROM and flash an undervolted and overclocked kernel to save battery.
Yeah but uv/ov kernels are still not available for 1.72 based roms.

They are all the same mate.
Display takes proportionally the most out of your battery, no ROM can quite compensate for this.

Usually the one that comes packed with a ROM, so really depends what you are using tbh. If using CM7 then use the one that comes packed with that one, if using on of the Sense ROMS, ARHD or LeeDroid, I would recommend one of theirs. IMHO for the LeeDroid you shuold try and use the one with the BFS as it seemed to give better performance and when coupled with the Smartass Governator gave really god Battery life.
There is also a guide to enlarging your battery life on here somewhere. I will post it when i find it.

very good battery life plus quick usb charger... it charge faster than the power supply one
Currently I have ADHD but it does drain pretty quick,I'm careful with WiFi etc and running services but still goes pretty quick,are various kernels compatible or are some specific?

I want to update my desire hd to sense 3.5. I want to know which ROM is best, and method to update it. I haven't rooted my desire hd. I m currently running 2.3.3 with sense 2.1.
I have one more question, does overclocking affect the battery life of the mobile? and does over clocking heat up the mobile?
Runny 4.0 has 3.5 and virtuious affinity and a few others all are good,capys 4.0 has more tweaks but its what you like,try sense 3.0 Roma first as they are also good!

Well, interesting thing. I am not a developer, but I know that from few months there was not any ICS (Sense and not Sense) and also JellyBean based ROMs without kernel 3.0. All have kernel 3.0.
