please tell me what is cyanogen?
i can make my desire hd bricked? and lost my quarantee ?
what the different cyanogen with htc stock sense?
Cyanogenmod is modified to AOSP (Android Open Source Project.) It's the plain version of android which you get on devices like the nexus. It's nice but not as flashy as sense. It is a little faster though.
Only one way to know if it's for you ...
Someone swyped my idea.

<Delurk> Hi all, a noob here, but reasonably intelligent (aka can use the search engine!) and I have a question.
I'm currently using a stock froyo ROM on my desire, and I like it a lot, however I would like to try my hand at developing a hybrid of the stock froyo with Sense 2.0 - I have tried a heavily modded HD sense ROM and liked it, however I like the stock feel to things.
How can I go about trying to develop this idea??
i.e. Is Sense 2.0 simply an app that is compatible with the latest Froyo build??
And if so how do I go about incorporating it into a build using one of the available kitchens??
Many thanks
<lurk>
You'd have to re-write Sense to work on FroYo - can't see it happening so not really worth trying
Hi everyone,
Last week my dad bought my brother a Samsung Galaxy S phone, and I installed a custom ROM on it with one of the latest android versions.
The ROM looks really impressive and the Hebrew support is way better than it is on my own phone.
I have the 'classic' HTC Desire (not HD, Z or whatnot), with one of the early ROMs released (from Modoco if I remember right - I actually got the phone before a root for it was pubicly available).
I'm looking for a recommendation for a custom ROM to install. I really want proper Hebrew/RTL support in it, hopefully the gingerbread Hebrew keyboard which seems awesome, and since I've grown accustomed to the HTC Sense UI, I'd love to keep that as well.
What would you guys suggest?
There aren't many custom roms with Gingerbread in combination with HTC Sense if I am right. I know there is a custom gingerbread rom leaked with HTC sense a few days ago so that could be very good for us.
I really like Oxygen because it's really clean without software I don't need.

True, so far I havent find any real HTC Gingerbread rom, and those I did, were just filled with dodgy 'senselike' widgets, which is not the same... so I am still patiently waiting for 2.3 with sense
You could always have a look at the ported Z/HD roms for Desire, some of them are very nice. I am currently using RCMixHD 3.4 and I enjoy it a lot. It is basically an incremental update to sense with a few added optimizations.
Thanks for the replies.
AFAIK, the gingerbread keyboard can be ported to android 2.2.
The ROM I installed on my brother's phone was android 2.2.1 but had the gingerbread keyboard.
In regard to the HD ROMs, those can be installed on the regular Desire device?
The HD roms are quite feature rich as compared to Desire roms
got my first android phone and can you believe it?it's a defy and it's on a cm7 beta 6.
saw the MIUI rom.
which one is better? and can I install it without going back to froyo?
anyone can help me out? thanks a lot
I have the same question. My phone it´s on CM7 to...but I want to try MIUI. So someone know if it´s posible to go to MIUI from CM7 and then go back?
And ofcourse wich one is better?
For speed CM7 and for Eye candy MiUi....
I test MIUI and I don´t like it...it´s an Iphone clone....CM7 it´s more android look....
hii guyss..!!
i just want 2 know that which is the latest android version for htc wildfire (buzz). I want the original version nor the modded version or fake version. Plz tell me the latest update.
Are there any gingerbread ( 2.3 ) or honeycomb (3.0) for htc wildfire buzz???
plzz rplyyyy....
2.2.1 is the latest.
There wont be "non modded / fake" 2.3 for the Wildfire in all probability, and definitely not 3.0 since it is for tablets only.
sir i already have version 2.2.1 installed on my wildfire.. But i want to know dat will android 2.3 (gingerbread) be released for wildfire? if yes then what is the exact date??and original one not modded? i have listen about cyanogenmod 7. but when i read its reviews it just a joke..
As I have previously stated, its extremely unlikely official 2.3 will ever be released by HTC, because, the Wildfire is obsolete, and, if you see the other HTC Phones, Gingerbread is being released with Sense v2.1, which has issues working with the Wildfire.
So, as of now, its unlikely they will ever release 2.3, let alone give you a exact date. You can contact HTC and ask them, but I am sure all you will get is a rubbish automated reply.
And, if you read reviews of haters, ANY ROM will look like a "joke", but whatever, ROM choice is a personal thing, and I am not going to force you to use any ROM. You can stick with your "original" 2.2.1, if you are happy with it.

sir plz tell me more about cyanogrn mod 7..!! i wnt to know more about that..!! plz help me sir..!! plz tell me what is cyanogen mod exactly??
It's a Custom ROM created by the Cyanogenmod Dev Team. You can visit their official site here:
http://www.cyanogenmod.com/
It's based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project), with a lot of custom mods and features, and, obviously, its not "official", and, there is no trace of HTC Sense in it, so you will lose HTC Widgets, their Contacts, Dialer, FM, Camera etc. (Obviously there are replacements, but they are not as "slick" as in in HTC Sense.)
Before reading all reviews, I would personally recommend you give it a try. If you dont like it, you can always get back to an official stock ROM.
Is there any way or chance that our super-phone's can gain the Oxygen Rom?
I know a rom was released for the S II International, but I really wish one was created for our S IIs (T-Mobile/AT&T).
Back in my HD2 Android days, I found out that someone was able to port Oxygen to the HD2 from a HTC Desire release.
Can it be done?

Darkstone1337 was using Adam G's Oxygen for a base on some of his projects for the HD2. The Oxygen series is based of AOSP, so I would say its possible but we still need additional drivers for it to work. The reason the Desire was so easy to port to the HD2 is they have almost identical hardware, hence drivers.
Cyanogen is based of AOSP as well and hasn't come out of alpha stage because of needed drivers.
