Hello
I just received a text, but could not see who it was from or what it said, but instead an icon at the top bar with a message showed, saying that the storage was full, and should delete something. I did, and I can receive new messages now, but I never saw the message that was sent to me in the first place.
Is it somewhere else in on the phone, or the storage card? I would like to know who it was from, and what it said.
Thank you
Kristian
I have the same problem from time to time on my Froyo Hero.

Duplicate issue needs help
I am having the same issue. I have the ATT fuze, however this is my third one. The first one was perfect until there was a party foul that took it away. The second one had a typing issue so I replaced it. This third one is doing the same as the above poster mentioned. My today screen will show that I have text messages waiting to be opened but when I navigate to the folder there is nothing in it. Performed a hard-reset but the same thing happened. Installed third party software and now I can view the messages and reply. I am not happy with this "bandaid" but it will temporarily do till this can be resolved. Please help.
ROM version: 1.95.502.5 WWE
ROM date: 10/20/08
there may be something wrong with your storage card
the storage card can, by any means, have nothing to do with it. i personally never had such a problem, so i can just guess:
sample situation:
- i receive an sms, i see a notification, with the sender and the first few words.
- instead of clicking read, i press the hardware mail button to open messaging and read the sms
- while having it opened, i delete it.
- i go back to home screen and there is still a message and a notification
now i have confused my phone showing me new messages, although i already read and deleted them.
that is the only way i could think of to even get in that situation.
btw. that is the same thing with missed calls. if i have a notification of a missed call and instead of clicking the notification i open the phone manually and look whose call i missed, i will still have the message on home screen, telling me, there was a call i didn't know about, although i already checked.
please make sure that the description above is not the case.
because that is a general bug/user mistake, since the notification service is not fully integrated in pocket outlook, sometimes it gives out older data if you bypassed it to get to your information. that is normal. next time you get a message, try clicking the notification and click read or save as read, and look what consequences that has in your messaging folder.
if then still there is no message to be found, right after you read it once, it is still probably an error in the communication between notification service and pocket outlook, but then it is not your fault anymore you'd probably have to flash another rom then,
OR
it is something completely different and you need to contact your carrier, that receiving sms doesn't work out for you, that either you get a new sim or other network settings need to be changed.
my solution
I made some changes using advance config and changed portrait and landscape mode to cleartype. the fuze does not work with cleartype in landscape mode. Turn that off and it begins to work.
Text Messages not displayed
I know this is a very old thread but did anyone come out with a solution.
I'm still using my Blue Angel and it's come up with this problem.
I think it was after I received an MMS message (the first I received).
Hi all,
i recently got a desire on vodafone uk, i have found that i fail to recieve sms delivery reports whenever i send a text.
the box is checked in the sms settings but i still dont get any reports (although the texts do go through)
has anyone else had this problem? is it a handset problem or a network problem?
Are you sure? As far as i can tell you dont get a pop up, just an icon that appears in the corner of the message you just sent. Long press on the message and you get a list of options, one is View Report.
oh brilliant! i didn't realise that was the delivery report, ive just upgraded from the touch diamond where i would get an actual pop up msg notification.
cheers for your help.
It confused me to. While its not as nice as the Nokia pop up method, its better than the Winmo way, which is basically a full message, that i found really annoying.
Is there hack to show delivery pop ups or notifications
I don't want to use HANDCENT app
I was using opendesire ROM (4.0.36) later with original android mms app and it had that option (so cool ) it wasn't even showing the message icon before it was delivered.
(If you don't understand what I explained about opendesire ROM check it yourself)
AND NO I don't want to use opendesire ROMs too , although they are nice and frequently updated.
Issue 1801: Delivery report status icon for MMS/SMS
While "view report" works, displayed icon is not actually delivery notification. It is sent notification. It seems to be Android bug, not HTC's fault.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1801
All I'm saying that this is fixed in Opendesire ROMs (try it!) isn't there a way to fix it on for example Modaco ROMs?
I assume others are having this problem but not seen much posted about it
other then some people using other message alerts.
But basically, i get a text, i click on the message thing, reply to the text, but in the top corner the message sign is still there, and the led still flashes.
Its a little bug but rather anoying.
Any fixes?
Im not using any message alert things, just the normal pre loaded one.
I've had it a few times, normally when I'm in the sms app anyway and get sent another. Only way to clear it I've found is to send myself a message then read & delete it
I find a faster way is to quickly delete the messages icon and put back on your desktop.
Yer, glad im not only one with this problem, more of a annoying then a flaw i think
Hi all, I recently installed the excellent Ginger Villian ROM on my HTC Desire but have noticed an issue with the SMS time that is displayed when you receive a text.
Previously I have been used to the text displaying the time that the text was sent not the time my phone received it. Has anyone else noticed this?
For example, if I have my phone on airplane mode or turn it off over night any texts I receive in the morning show the time that I just received them (rather than when the sender sent it).
I have also tried using Handcent SMS but the same problem exists. Is this just a Gingerbread 'quirk' or is there a way to get round this? I know it's not a major problem to most people but I like to be able to tell what time someone actually text me...
Any help is appreciated.
I think I have found the solution myself (although will probably have to wait til tomorrow to test it)
In Messaging click Menu, Settings and then scroll to nearly the bottom of the list. There is a box that says "Use original timestamps" which says will "Display and store sent date instead of reception date". This sounds like it'll do the trick.
Hopefully this might help some other sad people out there who want to time sent like I do
It happens about once a week. I get a text message and but it never shows up in my inbox. The only reason I know that I received one is because I use call announcer to announce my incoming texts. I have had the problem on several different ROMs so I don't think it's a ROM issue.
Anyone have any ideas?
Have u tried ghostly sms. I think its supposed to be for exactly this issue.
I always had a suspicion that I was missing a message every now and then. I started using Ghostly SMS and I was amazed at how many messages it was catching that would have been lost otherwise.
Hey,
How much free memory do you have? sometimes when it is two low it kicks the messenger out and kills it as your getting your message so it doesnt go through. Thats what GHOSTLY SMS fixes! its a great app and I use it myself.
Its either that or sprint is fixing an issue, I know my towers will go out where I jsut dont get text from certain people and stuff.
To keep this from happening I use google voice to text, since it goes through data and not standard 1x I will always get my text through one or the other!
I hope I helped if I did please hit the thanks button!
Stevo
ok will try ghostly, thanks guys and thanks buttons pressed.
OK I have been using ghostly SMS for a couple of days now and either the problem was worse than I thought or it got worse. It is catching about 3 or 4 a day. It is kind of a pain though because I get 2 notifications and I have to keep checking both in boxes to make sure I din't miss any. Does anyone know if using a different sms program all together will solve the problem? Also last time I partitioned my sd card I set the swap size to 0 could that be causing the increase in lost messages?

You should check out the Ghostly thread. There are settings to prevent the double notifications, and to move the lost messages automatically.
