Hey guys, finally tried Cyanogen and WOW. Been up all day and night playing around with it but haven't found any way to sync Facebook contacts like the HTC Sense Facebook app. Damn, HTC really pulled that app off well.
I realize that I can try another custom ROM but this seems to be the bees knees. Any help for this Cyanogen newb would be greatly appreciated. Happy holidays!
Facebook for Android can sync all your friends to contacts or only sync existing contacts.

Hm.. I'll tinker around with it a bit more. It's not updating the contact pictures immediately. Dialer is a little lack luster compared to the Sense one but I'll be content if I can get the contact pictures to update without much fuss.
Thank you!

it really doesnt do a good job tho. you have to have your contacts saved as their exact name on fb - which can be annoying. Plus, sense gets hi res pics as opposed to blurry fb app pics.
i used to have an app by which you could manually sync your contacts to fb - but i dont have it any more and cant remember the name
anyone know the app?

There were a couple that I recall..... but I don't recall the names either lol. I used them on my Xperia X10.
It seems that Sense has put "Notes" in all the contacts and binds them to the respected Facebook profiles, even if you manually link it to another account. My wife has an English and a Vietnamese name for instance. And it's a nuisance when an old broken image of her from my SD card pops up. HTC Sense was fantastic for this.
Maybe someone will be willing to port it over. I have some ****ty coding skills and was looking into doing a few Android apps. Maybe I could figure something out but I doubt it.
*** EDIT ***
Nevermind... turns out the Sense Dialer is heavily tied into the Sense framework. Looks like I may need to look at another customer firmware. I never knew how attached to the Social phonebooks and other Social aspects of my Android phones.
What is everyone doing about uploading pictures to facebook after switching to AOSP builds? of all the things I've lost since switching to CM, this is the only one that I still miss. The htc gallery had an option when selecting multiple photos to upload them to facebook and to create new galleries out of them, now I am stuck uploading one at a time.
Any suggestions other than that?

Yeah so ive probably just been stupid and not thought of something here but anyways...
We cant sync facebook contacts anymore because facebook and google have had a lovers tiff.
I want my contacts to have pictures because it just looks lame without them.
Is there anyway of getting my facebook contacts pictures into my contact list any other without going round all my friends taking pictures of them and using photos from the gallery?
Google + is a no go because im the only god damn one that has it .
Oh and im completely stock 4.0.2 so any hax are are most likely out of the question.
Thanks for any help in advance guys! ( and gals )
Not a real good solution but you can grab each user's picture from FB or whatever and apply it to your contact within GMail. I didn't do it for everyone but I did do it for the people I contact the most.
I've heard HaxSync does that, havent tried it myself + it costs money...So...Here is a link to the app.
I use Friends Sync from the market works ok but you still need to add connection to each contact from your original contacts list bit of a pain I know
HaxSync is WELL worth the money.
HaxSync gets my vote too, worth the 89p-odd it costs
Can I please get a definite statement, if HD Contact Pics are syncing back to Google Contacts in JB?
I searched far and wide, but there are conflicting reports. It should be in there, as mentioned on those Google I/O slides, that now 720x720 are possible. But does it work also in a way that those are stored also in Google Contacts? Coz before I always had the problem, when flashing a new ROM and restoring my contacts from Google Contacts afterwards, that the pics come back pixelated.
I'm not interested in an on-phone solution, like those that are available in the market. Just wanna know, if this year-long problem is finally fixed in Android. Thanks!

Nope, not from Gmail contact pictures.
If the person has a G+ account then it'll be higher res, but gmail contact picture sync still sucks.
will google ever fix this crap? people have been complaining since 2008

This is what I'm seeing too.
But I'm seeing that once I add a picture while on JB, the photo is high res.
The new high res congtact pictures are useful only with contacts who habe google+ , the rest of the contatcs looks like crap, im gonna ask some friends to change their gmail picture now to see if from the moment of the announcement the new pictures are stored in good quality
It seems to be working for me if you add the pictures to the contacts ON YOUR PHONE (i.e. in Contacts in Jelly Bean) instead of through Gmail on the web. If I attached pictures through Gmail on the web, the pictures were resized.
JellyBean is still not officially released yet, so we shouldn't be surprised that not everything is "perfect" yet.
