Hi, i'm from Argentina, Latin America and i want to change my stock ROM but I have a few questions about it. So i decide to ask first before make a mistake.
My Defy specs are:
System version: Blur_Version6.14.7.MB525.Personal.en.AR
Firmware version: 2.1-update1
Number version: JORLA_U3_6.14.7
Should I use RSD Lite first to flash with the .sbf file an get an Stock ROM with a different number version (mine is JORLA and yours is JRDNEM) and then try Recovery or can i just skip RSD Lite and change mi ROM using Recovery?
My other question is, in case that i can change my ROM, what's the better choice 2.21 or 2.34. And what ROM do you recommend? i wanted to try Vanilla 1.01 or Clean 2.34 blurless Rom jit/deodexd but i don't know, maybe there are better roms.
Well, that's all. Hope you can understand what i tried to say.
Cheers.
If you are not sure what you ARE doing don't do it until you have enough research and knowledge about flashing, rooting or debranding/installing new firmware. Or else your going to become an idiot like me spending 3 days to get my firmware to work correctly.. Each day I bricked my phone, and also had boot loops. So before I went to bed I just used RSD Lite 4.9 to flash a working fresh ROM, because I 2.2.1CN (China) still had bugs and I was still trying to fix it. So when I tried to fix it, it bricked!
But I would use RSD lite 4.9 to flash your desired ROM. I recommend 2.2.1 because 2.34 is more of a test, I THINK it has more bugs. I currently have 2.2.1CN, I have a T-Mobile USA Motorola Defy.
Thanks for your suggestion but i already change the ROM to a Custom one.
I've some experience with RSD and flashing phones because i used to have an Motorola Rokr E2 (Linux).
After all, i did not try RSD Lite only used Recovery and all is working fine.
I'm using Vanilla w/Eclair 1.0.1's HanderExploit. The only issue is that i can't import contacts from my SIM Card.
There's the option to import, but when i press to import it does nothing, can anyone help me solve this issue?.
I can't use Europeans ROM because i have no signal (different GSM band).
Cheers.
At first I had the same problem too, but I opened up the dialer and put familiar phone numbers and some of my contacts displayed on the screen to dial. But they still weren't in my address book. I think I got it working by opening the CONTACTS app from menu. And pressing the four squares ion bottom. And pressing import usim. Then back at the contacts app, at the top pressing all contacts changing it to address book. That worked for me
There's a new Vanilla ROM with Froyo. So it seems that Vanilla w/Eclair 1.0.1 is outdated. I'll give it a chance.

I know that I have already posted on someone else's thread, so I figured rather than hijacking someone else, I would start my own.
Here is my issue. I have tried every posted method out there for flashing Radios into my Sprint Vogue (flashed to MetroPCS). I am currently on NFSFAN's 1.00.6.5 Rom (21864), with radio 3.37.10.
I have tried...
*Flashing from SD card with a fat32 formatted 2 GB card, renamed radio to VOGUIMG.NBH (upper and lower case),
*Flashing via USB with ActiveSync on,
*Flashing via USB with ActiveSync off,
*Flashing via USB with bootloader preset,
*Flashed back to the Alltel rom used for SuperCID and tried to flash radio while in that rom,
*I have tried with radios 3.42.30, .40, and .50.
The only thing I have not tried has been mtty, but somehow I have my doubts that it will work.
Every time the RUU runs, it starts and the progress quits at 8%, with my phone being rebooted. Also, the RUU displays error message 328....
I have searched all over and tried a few things but most of them are related to the Titan and not to the Vogue. If anyone has encountered this issue and knows how to solve it, I am open for suggestions. Thanks...
I suggest your flash your phone with the stock rom of bell if your want the 3.42.5 radio. Just reset as soon as your see the 3 second customization screen.
Then unlock phone, and then flash your fav custom rom.....

I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the suggestion...
@SL
I followed your advice to a certain extent. I went with the latest Sprint official rom, which carried 3.42.30 in it. This seemed to work ok. I still cannot go to .40 but I guess if I flash from the original carrier that had this rom, I will be in good shape (Bell with .50, etc). Do you know which carrier has .40? Thanks for the help!!!
@ SL
I finally went over to the Bell rom that can be found in HTC's official website. I am finally up and running with 3.42.50!!!
I will probably try to make a sticky or a post describing the problem and the solution for people with the same issue, which I have seen quite a bit looking for an answer...
Once again, thanks for all your help!
Hi,
I (foolishly) tried to upgrade to Telstra Defy (build #JRDNEM_U3_2.26.0) to Pays-Rom ([ROM] Pays-ROM Defy v5.1 Froyo with Ginger feeling [3.4.3-11 based!]). I played with it briefly, couldn't get Clockwork Recovery (defy version) to run, and so wanted to go back to the original Telstra soft (from http://and-developers.com/sbf:defy)
I've used RSD Lite to restore that telstra soft before (from Chinese froyo) and it worked fine. However, when I do it now (after having used RSD to apply the 3.4.3-11 Motorola SBF from this thread ) then I get a blank screen - not even a Moto logo - when I try to boot (like this guy I think).
I reflashed back to the 3.4.3-11 Motorola SBF and the phone is booting happily again. However, I don't really want to be stuck on this - particularly since I can't actually get System Recovery (i.e. Clockwork Recovery) to go so can't seem to install Pays-Rom.
The magic question is: by upgrading to 3.4.3-11 from the Pays-Rom pack, have I removed my ability to go back to my original rom? If not, can anyone think what I may be doing wrong with my downgrade to kill the phone?
Cheers.
Was asking why system recovery was not working - answer was because I had failed to disable USB debugging. Oops. Main problem remains though.
If you flashed a full SBF, then you can't go back to 2.1. It's not bad as you think, since 2.2 in every country is about to be released. When this happens you will need only a nandroid backup...

I have done a similar thing, flashed 3.4.2_155-002 and now cant downgrade back to the default Telstra rom. Not to concerned at the moment as I am using Color ROM from here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021742. It is based on this SBF, 3.4.2-155-2 deblur. Just follow the installation instructions and you should have no trouble. Very fast and deblurred. every thing works fine on my Defy, including clockwork recovery.
Only problem I may have is not being able to downgrade to stock if the phone has to go back to telstra for anything.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.
Hello all, I'm new to this forum and i got some questions, (I did research, but I haven't find answer for my Q).
Ok so I got installed custom ROM on .58 FW, and I want change baseband from -67 to -36. I went thru tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1469473 I did everything exactly how its says in step by step guide. The problem is when phone boots it keep giving me wellcome screen, poping up msg what I dont have enough space for my SMS, and when I go into phones internal storage its nothing there, I mean it does not show how many free space left and how many used.
So my question is: ROM is not supported by this baseband because this ROM is based under BB -67 ? Or I need to do something else ?
I want have this baseband because sometimes when I use data internet on my phone it respond very slowly.. i.e. I browsing internet everything OK, then I switch off screen and turn it back on, then go into browser and press any link there, my phone shows what is sending data but not receiving, after some while everything comes back and working fine again.. It very anoing thing, and I want fix that somehow.. I had this problem before I started to do any flashing (I was with stock FW) and now after some flashing new ROMs and kernels I still having..
Any suggestions ?

No solution guys ?
You may want to try re-formatting (called a factory reset in CWR)
Get to your bootloader and the option should be there to delete the data/cache partitions.
Note - you should backup, nandroid, etc before doing this.
Thanks for the post, I will try as soon as I get home, hope this will help.

Hi guys,
I have been having issues with my Australian Moto Z PLay. I have been Romming for a while now and tried to first return the phone to stock using the adb method. Which didnt work (I cant remember why, I think I finished it all and it would only boot to bootloader or recovery). Then tried updating only the modem using this method https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/how-to/update-bootloader-modem-to-flash-stock-t3818253 then I tried flashing a few ROM's
The issue now is that the phone turns itself off and on a few times a day. I have launcher crashed quite often and the battery seems to have less life in it.
In short I'm not too sure what I have done wrong. Maybe a few things. Can anyone help me get back to a point where I can install custom ROM's like before relatively safely and reliably? I have tried a few different rom's and had lots of similar issues with each.
ROM - AOSP Extended v5.8 Official
Android - 8.1.0
Baseband version - M8953_10238.63.04.83.01R

Thakn you in advance!
....also lots of lag. I'm going someone can guide me to the modem etc settings that should be in my device
hi all, please help. My zuk z2 plus keep restarting.
When I start it, it just open up the wallpaper and then restarting again and again.
The memory's just fine, still 25GB.
One weird thing is it shows 1/1/1970 for the date.
Is it some kind of bugs or virus?
What should I do? Anybody knows how to solve it?
Thanks in advance
You should try to restore the device back to its original firmware to make it run on factory default software.
Use QPST/QFIL method to flash your stock ROM. In case of Indian/Global Eng, then i guess the Zui 2.0 or 2.5
Refer to this thread for details https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/how-to/guide-lock-bootloader-avail-warranty-t3694883
Make sure to charge the device and your laptop battery fully before proceeding to QPST/QFIL flashing. Device or PC must not lose power or reboot while running the flashing process.
(Warning, QPST method will relock your bootloader while restoring factory default)
Once you are on your stock ROM, check if everything working fine or not. In case things are still not working, there is a high chance that you may be having some hardware issue.
Friend If your phone has already been installed zui 2.5 indiana (then installed the customs roms) Do not need to upgrade (install the Chinese 3.5 by qpst). The basebands do not come out of 1.70x only have one that is different that is 1.76 (mine is zuk z2 + (131) in it I put the zui 2.5 indiana and then went to the customs roms and now I went to the roms with kernel 4.4 without installing zui 3.5
