When I try to search on my DHD (2.2, 1.32.707.5, non-rooted) for 'ADWLauncher EX', the paid version of Fruit Ninja, or to update to the new Google Maps 5.0, its not showing up on the Market.
But when I search on my HTC Eris (KaosFroyo v38) they all show up.
Is there anything I can do so they show up on my Desire HD?
Which country is your SIM card from? Can you see paid apps at all?
The sim card on the Desire HD is the one from the Philippines, Globe Telecom.
Can't see most of paid apps.
EDIT: I'm also currently in the Philippines. Using Wi-fi for both Eris and Desire HD to access the Market
Have a look at http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=143779 . You can't buy apps from the Philippines.
You could root and use an app such as Market Enabler to get paid apps.
hm, that sucks. how about if i'm able to download an apk installer for the paid app, will that work?
I've also thought about that, download and just donate. It just bothers me that you can buy paid apps while in the Philippines with a rooted phone. I guess I'll be rooting my Desire HD later.

Well, I've turned on my Desire this morning, and performed the daily search for the Paypal app. There it is.
Tapatalk, and all the rest of the protected apps are now available on the generic ROM it seems!
Great news!
EDIT - All except Google Earth it seems.
I can see those two, but not Google Earth?
T-Mobile here.
I also see the applications you mention, but I still only see free apps?

I did actually, but missed it somehow.
Anyway, it's still news to some, obviously.
No worries, as the OP in the other thread I can understand how excited you were!
Seems to be a lot of demand for Google Earth. I've attached it if you guys want it.
But yes, Its not on the market on Vodafone either. Sounds like it might of been pulled altogether
KYI
Cheers for Google Earth!
Thx for the upload. Needs 23 mb rom lol. Root plz...
Oh come on, no paypal app for me in the market, strange
Argh, I cannot see the Paypal app!
I have an unbranded/unlocked Desire with the latest stock ROM (1.15.405.4) and I've set my locale to "English (United States)" with MoreLocale2. (doesn't work either with the "English (France)" settings)
UK Desire on T-Mobile, branded- have access to protected apps - and can see paypal app on market
I tried the install from #7 but I get 'there is a problem parsing the package'.
I have Google Earth, I always did have Google Earth.
Infact it was one of the first apps I installed on 27/03, I only just got protected apps today (I knew because I downloaded a copy of Abduction World Attack off the internet (it is an app I purchaed) and today I got prompted there was an update (it wasn't in my market before))
Edit: Just to add, I did also once have to do a reset and was able to redownload earth from the market again.
Most apps are showing up now in the market for me. Still can't see Google Earth though.
Here is some interesting news re "Market"

now we have "protected" apps, can anyone suggest some ones we're missing out on?
e.g google earth, ebay app - both of these i've had to find the apk files and use htc sync to install em. even appbrain doesn't work with them. they're tagged but the phone says not found on market
having the prob now since there's apparently an update to google earth but i can't find it.
is it due to my phone being a t-mobile desire and not a plain jane desire?
As far as I know google earth is only released for the nexus one on the market.
ach, ok. that sucks though
at least i got a working ver now thanks to forum dudes
I had Google Earth installed on my Desire (from the market). I uninstalled it as it took too much memory. Not sure why it cant be dl and installed anymore... beats me.
Install Google Earth via the .apk, it's Nexus only at the moment.
i can find the original apk, but is there a way to update it? or get an updated apk? (guessing no, since i can only find the original)
Hello,
I am new to this (i got my desire before 3 days) and i haven't rooted it or anything (yet i guess).
So what i wanted to ask is why i can't find on the market some well knows apps like "SwitchPro Widget" or "Fancy Widget Pro" (although i can find Fancy Widget) or even Beautiful Widgets.
They are just not on the market.
I have tried to install them from appbrain but since it also links you to the market i can't do it.
Can you please help me on that?
Thanks in advance
Paid apps are probably not available in your country.
Once rooted you'll be able to circumvent this with MarketEnabler.
Do you mean every paid app? Because i have downloaded LauncherPro (and paid for it) without any problem.
Thanks for your time btw.
afaik, Launcher Pro (Plus) is a different case, where you install the free version, then paypal the dev for the code to unlock the full version.
Much like how paid apps are not available in some countries, I have already read that some devs in a couple of countries are having trouble getting paid version of their apps on the marketplace, and have instead opt for a "donate" option on top of the free version of their app.
So I live in Costa Rica and I was trying to update my google maps app in my LeeDroid HD version and its says that my device is not compatible (HTC Desire) is there any way to force the installation?
Thanks!
google maps is listed on this forum , with links etc to the app
Look for Market Access or Market Enabler and never worry about your Google Maps not getting updates.

I am unable to purchase SetCPU (or any other program) from the marketplace I think it is because of my location (Kazakhstan).
I wish to purchase... how can i do this? Please help!!! I have given all of my credit card details to my google account.. but still i cannot buy
Please help me....
SetCPU ? Isn't it free in xda-dev for us xda-dev users ? Or you can try "no-frills", it's free from the market.
Anyway, have you tried "Market Enabler" ? Set your operator to T-Mobile - USA then maybe you can purchase apps from Market.

Absolutely true its free for us, but i am unable to buy any apps.. i have tried "Market Enabler" from the market and it (apparently) fakes the sim to T-Mobile USA, but still i am unable to purchase as it says that "your devise is incompatible"... it says this even when i access the market from the internet :-(

1. when using market enabler, you should set to "fake on boot" so everytime you boot up your phone, you set your phone for the US market (or whatever market you want, really)
2. after having set market enabler, erase data from market app as well as uninstall market updates
3. reboot device and open market - paid apps should now work
4. (dont know if that one still applies, but i would think it does): you need a credit card registered in the country you set for market enabler - means as much as: if you want to purchase an app using the US market, you need an US credit card
5. PC browser uses the countries market your pc is in, unless you use a VPN (or proxy) to access another market! so if the country you sit in doesnt support paid apps, you can't purchase them from your PC
