This topic has nothing to do with Hermes Window Mobile 6 or XDA forums, for that matter.
Take it elsewhere, please. I am sure there are plenty of sites on the web that will indulge your voyeurism.

I've seen some specs that say it supports bluetooth MAP profile, and some specs that omit it. The Samsung spec sheet doesn't seem to list it (at least not the one I've found). Before I buy this phone, I want to make sure the text messaging will work with my Ford Sync system which requires MAP profile to convey the text messages.

I'll test it tomorrow and let your know. I know it didn't work on the GSIII.

Sounds good. Also, let me know what Sync hardware system & S/W version you have. From the research I've been doing, it makes a big difference. FYI - there are a lot of people who have gotten their Galaxy SIII bluetooth MAP profile working with Sync. Try the method posted by "arlinto" on 10/22 about half way down the thread.

MAP works
MAP works beautifully in my '11 Ford Edge (MFT/SYNC) with the NOTE II

I'll have to check that out. I couldn't get the text message to work with SYNC and my Note II. I have a 2011 Ford Fusion. Not sure how to find hardware/software version in the SYNC. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
*EDIT* OK, so I read the androidcentral link you sent me and I have the basic Ford SYNC. I'm going to try what they suggested and see if I can get it work that way. I'll post findings tomorrow.

I'm very interested to see if this method works. I think it is for the Sony w/ Navigation version of the hardware. At least my interface matches the steps.

I spent a good 10 mins dicking around with my SYNC and Note II. I don't have a MAP profile setting so I couldn't do it that way, nor could I find any other way. So, I'm guessing if you just have the basic SYNC system it won't work. Again that is just a guess, I haven't done much research on this whole thing however. Anyway, hope this helped some and if not sorry. I hope someone can shed more light on this for you.

Bluetooth MAP. app that helps
Hello everybody,
For Bluetooth MAP you can check this app from VAiPho "Bluetooth Launcher" that also has interesting functionalities for Samsung users,

Unfortunately, there are no Bluetooth 4.0 (which Bluetooth LE is a part of) libraries built into android right now. In order to connect an android device to a Bluetooth 4.0 connection, you must do it for a specific device, and that device's manufacturer must have released a bluetooth 4.0 SDK. There is an open bluetooth low-energy SDK for Android

"I want my gb 6900 g-shock watch to pair with my GS3!!! UGH"
I am a app developer and I need Bluetooth 4.0 in order to develop hardware for my own phone. As of now i'm using Apples Iphone 5 " Samsung's Competitor" to develop my apps and Hardware. This does not look good on Samsung's part. I really hope this gets figured out. The Galaxy S3 is the top selling phone as of right now. It is also my favorite in terms of use but. The fact that they advertised 4.0 support this sucks!
I am with you on that bro. Got the gb 6900 on my wrist right now but no application to really take advantage of the ble. Just in case you dont know, you can always check that the SGS3 can see the GB 6900 using the "Bluetooth Smart Scanner" application tool found through play.
I also have a Moto Droid 4 which can natively see the watch using the Bluetooth page in settings but I am afriad I have to perhaps look into the developing my own app.

The nRF Utlility from Nordic, i couldnt even download from the Play Store because my phone is marked as "SAMSUNG-SGH-I747" which is at^t's SGS3. I wish there was a way i could download the .apk file from Play Store or even somewhere on the internet.
I am going to check if Nordic has put it on their developer site.
The application i mentioned only just discovers the Bluetooth 4.0 devices and doesnt connect to them. At the moment it is just good enough for proof that Samsung indeed has a Bluetooth Low Energy module in the SGS3.
If you can give me more info on your SGS3 such as network carrier, what rom and kernel you are using, perhaps i might be able to figure out why it is not working for you.

I just checked Nordic's website, unfortunately they dont have the .apk listed in the downloads section only the blasted iOS version of nRF
Also, i attached the incompatibility error i am getting when i try to download nRF from the Play store. Don't think you have the .apk for nRF Utility do you? Any way you know we can actually download the .apk from the play store?

The phone is my lifeline at the moment and given I am travelling, i am contemplating if i should root it. I just did the root to a Droid 4 but alas i dont know the market code for japan play store. As i understand google gives each country/region a specific "market code" or a "play code"
I am sure someone has figured out and listed all the market codes for each country... in Xda just going to do that soon after i finish replying.
But hey, thanks for the tip! I really appreciate it.

Hi! yes. You would first need to make sure you have the JB official ROM upgrade from at&t through Kies or rooted and unlocked bootloader SGS3 running JB. Unfortunately, there is no official app from Casio for SGS3 as G-Shock+ exists for iOS yet, but you can download nRF Utility from market and then use the watch as a proximity device.

The nordic nRF utility does connected to my s3 and the casio gb6900.
It even was connecting better than the official G-shock app ( from the apple store) and my partners iphone 5
I'm not a developer but does it mean i have to wait until casio, android, or samsung work on that ?
Does it work with the japanes g-shock app from their store ? (this app supports a gb-6900 bt reports the description)

have you tried to clear the bond between the casio gb6900 and nRF utility and Bluetooth smart scanner or other android apps? I believe you can do that by going to the setup screen on the watch and then keep the split.reset button pressed on the watch. What other apps other than Bluetooth Smart Scanner and nRF Utility have you found on android/for sgs3 that use BLE to connect?

I have yet to try the official G-Shock+ app for iOS. I try to stay away(physically and mentally) from any iOS device. You may be right on the on the "better connectivity " as i know Apple did screw up the Dual Mode Bluetooth chipset on the iPhone 4S...which they might have carried on with iPhone 5.
Yes, you would have to wait untill casio develops something or untill there is a API from Samsung for BLE development for Android. I think the latter one is more important as once there is a API, not only Casio can develop a full fledged app but also many individual developers. Samsung is the real sucker in this.
You hafto go into setup in watch menu then hit "start stop" twice then hold in reset. Then search for the watch again.

Well thanks for the effort. Many people before you have done that and got the same response. I dont know why Samsung is not at the top of the matter on this..especially if they really want to seal the deal for SGS3.
It could be that android/google is really pushing for NFC and not so much on BLE because iOS is pushing more on BLE and not so much on NFC.
I tell you these corporate battles just are hindrances to potential opportunity to many technologies and developers. Shame on them!
Update on Android App from Casio
I have some good news to share. We should be getting an Android based app from Casio. See this link
http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/49231/casio-g-shock-gb-5600a-iphone-pictures-hands-on
"It will work only with iPhone at present - because of the app support - but an Android app is in the pipeline for release later in the year."

Amazing that someone hasn't heard of Google Play where there is an untold number of free VPN's. I'll even bet that a quick Google will find a few. Either is going to be faster than posting on a forum and having to wait for aomeone to answer your plea. But then, some people just have to be led.
Makes me wonder how people who post this sort of moronic question have managed to sign up for the forum in the first place, or indeed found it at all. Or are we being trolled?

Thank you, and it's still pathetic that someone doesn't know how to search. And BTW, learn how to post questions that fully explain your problem. A quick search found this
https://www.guidingtech.com/58822/free-vpn-android-apps-bypass-country/
https://www.hongkiat.com/blog/free-android-vpn-apps/
I have to say that we don't know the position of @amjadRR
So his question is legit.
If you have never been to a country like China for example you won't understand @Tel864
But in short: Google is blocked in China and that means also Google services don't work there. Therefore you can't just google or download something in the Playstore, since the playstore is also blocked. So it's not that easy to get a VPN if you're in China.
I've been there for a year. Luckily I knew that before I went there, so I downloaded some VPN's before.
You can't just assume that everyone is living in a developed country or assume anything at all...
Anyway, if you need a download link for a VPN app let me know @amjadRR.
Thank you for your reply

@amjadRR the reason for these VPNs not working is very simple. They are in the store, so of course the government is gonna block them.
But as I said earlier in this forum, get wireguard.
This one might work and it is for free.
You just need to download the VPN profiles and open them with the wireguard app.

Nothing assumed and I have been there. What I assume is someone knowing how to post a question on forums so they can get the information they need. These forums are packed full of lazy people that would rather ask for something rather than search. BTW, there is a way to search in China and find those things. A free VPN is most likely not going to work. VYPRVPNI will make itself invisible and is what I used.

I'm not sure sideloading is the answer. I know that's the question that was asked but the application he mentioned is on the galaxy wearable store and has an iOS companion app on the iOS app store. That's why I asked my questions above. What exactly is he trying to resolve by sideloading? It doesn't make sense.
