Zune UI is basically like Windows Phone 7. Most apos are coded in C# or .NETCF.

You may want to try WAD.
Skip netcf apps, and spb or htc soft they will propose to you(soon).
These are just typical bad written bs.
hs++ is also good, it takes time to get effects, though.

How can I Make programs for Windows Mobile?

Hello
I want to make a program for Pocket PC What is the developmental environment to do so?
Most of the Visual 2007 Series by Microsoft are compatible with Windows Mobile 6.0 and up.
Example: Visual Basic.NET, Visual C#, etc..

Do you have to learn it?
Thank you again
Depending on what you're planning to create, or make mods for, you may need certain SDK Libraries.
But honestly, I won't be able to help you much with these. I develop Software for Windows, not Windows Mobile [BIG differences].

Depending on which programming language you prefer.
Basic,C,C++,C#,Pascal?
You could choose Basic4PPC or Lazarus or some native MS stuff.
I am using actually old embedded Visual C++ 4.0 SP3 with PocketPC 2003 SDK and everything works also on WM653. In addition I use WM 6.1 emulator, but it is not necessary.
you could do worse than go to www.ppl-lang.com
Pocket programming language is an easy to learnn WM5/6/6.1/6.5 compiler that can create windowed apps and games.
V1.60 is completely free or you can purchase V2 with loads of extra libraries for in game physics, databases etc. It also compiles Windows apps too.
I have been using this for the last 3 years almost and have created many fine windows mobile apps.
Check it out.

Windows Mobile 6.1 (launched) for Windows Phone

Ok, now DreamForceTeam launched Windows Mobile 6.1 on Windows Phone 7 (HTC 7 Pro) and showed that on the movie (what is next ?):
Now this shows how terrible windows mobile was. I would do this on my trophy, but seeing how putting a laggy os on a phone designed for wp7 is so pointless, I'd rather put windows phone (hopefully tango) on wm devices.
Yessss, with this we may have the chance of using FpseCE on WP7!
Agree

Very well said, couldn't agree more. The fact you can do something doesn't mean you should. I was a WM 6.5 fan but would NEVER go back to that after over a year with the constantly improving WP7.

You know...the video shows pretty good performance over all on it. Yea, 6.1 was a dog but, There is still a hanful of apps I would use on it that there is no WP7 app for.
If this was downloadable, I would download it to try it. It would be nice to bring back some App memories...
Is this only on a custom rom ?
That's sort of nostalgic. But like I'd never put Windows 95 on my current computers, I would also never go back to the Windows Mobile days. Sick of constant lock ups, bad memory management, overall laggy behaviour and such. If I wanted to use Windows Mobile again, I'd rather buy an HD2 from craigslist or eBay than flash it on my WP device.
If we could use equalizers and audio effects, I would love to see dual boot.

Did you even watch the video ? He was running ON TOP of WP7, at one point in the video he hit back and it jumped back to WP7.
If it's like shown, an emulator, I'm great with it, if I have to flash my device, screw it, dont want it.
If I can dump 6.1 on my WP7 device to run when I want to, it opens a whole world of 10+ years of Apps that will run on it (and there is a lot more of 6.0+ apps than there is WP7 apps)
I would want to dowload it and install cabs to it, if I can't do that, then I have no needs for it.
I would much rather use an emulator on my phone than waste $150-200 on a HD2 that ran Windows Mobile 6.5 anyway.

I do miss the equalizers I had loaded on WM 6.X. I miss them a great deal. It is the one thing I am still waiting for in WP7. I have found replacements for most all of the other apps I used on WM over the last few months.

I gotta admit that I didn't watch the video. I just assumed it was the one I found over at Twitter last night where a modified bootloader was shown that started WM on a WP device. An emulator would certainly be nice to play with. But I don't see me using it for more than just bringing back some nostalgic thoughts.
I dont see the reason for the hate....it may not make sense to run win95 on currrent hardware but u cant apply the same logic when wp7 is missing features/apps wm had.

I wouldn't call it hate. Lack of comprehension maybe. If I felt Windows Phone was missing features and/or apps I was really dependent on, I simply hadn't bought into it.

IMO, going backwards not a good idea.
for me it is, i have great navigarion app for WM and it don't work on WP7, iOS and on Android with problems, or GCzII app for Geocaching, so for me great idea

It would rock to have Garmin Mobile XT up and running via this loader on WP7. I'm still running WM6.5 because of this software.
This will prove very useful for running emulators, flash, and legacy apps. Don't dis it. It's an app, not a flashed os. I'm wondering, though, if they could use any of the code from this to develop an android emulator. I mean, my windows phone rocks, but extra compatibility is always welcome. Keep it up DFT
i would use just to trick people into thinking i flashed it onto my focus

Well if you have a keyboard...

[Q] Develop Apps for Windows Mobile

I want to develop simple apps for Windows Mobile. I read that I can use:
---Compact Framemork. (I downloaded Sharp Develop, it is free. It also exist a program from Resco that speedup the development with C.F.)
--- C or C++ or C# (I don't know if WinMo understand these...)
---Visual Basic (is difficult and Visual Studio isn't free, but I found another program that allows to develop more simple)
---Mortscript (I think is the most simple)
---Which is the best and the most simple language?
---Where can I read or download tutorials?
---I can not develop simple apps with images and sounds yet.
Please Help!
I want to develop
-a lock screen
-an app that turn on and turn off the leds of my device
-an app that change registry values (without softreset the device)
-an app that can copy, cut and delete files
-a Soft Imput Panel (a virtual keyboard)
I haven't done windows mobile development in quite some time, so things may have changed a bit. But to help you out better, it would be good to know what version of windows you intend to develop for (I assume Windows Phone 7?) as well as any specific devices you may want to concentrate on, and what experience you already have with coding.
MortScript is probably a good starting point, though if you want to get some real functionality going, you should look at C#.net CF. Take a look at this MSDN resource: LINK. It should be good for getting started.
I think that for modifying the registry, working with LEDs, and for the software keyboard you may need to use C++ ... though I can be mistaken. I'm not sure how Microsoft has worked out libraries and privileges in WP7.

Thanks CycloneZephyrxz7.
I want to develop for Windows Mobile 6.X for devices with WVGA resolution.
But with Mortscript I can do less things? Because I can only write scripts.
Do you know how is written a simple app like "ClearTemp"?
I wait other replies from Devolpers and people that used these languages...
