Is there any rom for the G2 that is nearly pure AOSP. CM is good but I want something as pure as possible.
Try stock, but flash CM's baconbits. Its just your stock rom, but with an overclocking kernel and trackpad wake. Not the entire rom intself. It can be found in rom manager under CM.

I'm more interested in Gingerbread. I guess I'll just root and uninstall the bloatware.
You can get adventurous and install the early early cmsrc gingerbread builds. Pretty much all stock from google src, be weary though, nothing comes bug free.

Is there any dev that is willing to build from AOSP with proper modifications for the G2? I like the pure android experience on the HD2, would love to see it on the G2. Willing to donate...
Can you just let this thread die?

You can use the build vision guide, just dont say cyanogen. Search for build froyo from source st0kes. It is the same for gb
I just recently installed AOSP on my brother's G1 (my old phone) and I have to say it's an excellent rom. Having something that bareboned on the G2 would be really nice.

I have been reading into it for a while, the thing is that I do not have the time at all to take on such a feat. I'm in my last semester in Electrical Engineering and have piled on 22 credit hours, plus research, plus ~30 hours a week at my robotics team. The only chance I'll get is this summer, was hoping something before that lol.
As you can see I'm not the only one.

Hi, I am currently a vibrant owner but I am getting sick of the GPS issues and the lack of support mainly a full source of 2.2 that runs good aside from just fast. Tmobile is sending me a G2 and I will have some time to see how I like it, I was looking for some input as far as roms and kernels go for if I decide to keep it.
I had a mytouch 3g before all this and loved the cyanogen and noticed there was a cyan rom for this and I would love to get some input on how it is, good or best or what have you. If you know of any better as far as functionality and speed go please toss me some idea so I can begin researching it.
There is a CyanogenMOD 6.1 (Android 2.2.1) ROM for the G2, They are actively working on CM7 (Android 2.3) and I would expect it to come out in the next month or so.
I'm still on the stock ROM because I'm waiting for CM7.
Expect the G2 to be similar to the G1 in terms of the amount and variety of roms. There appears to be quite a bit of support for this device.

Cyanogenmod and visionary have been the ones I've used and both are excellent. Cyanogenmod has been written about in how great it is, and visionary is a great sense rom if you care for that stuff.

Check out miui rom in android development! I'm currently using it! Its awesome. I went from stock to CM 6 then Virtious then MIUI. And I think for me Miui is the best rom, it incorporates so many things...and the new release is even more awesome.

Well AdamG is now working on Oxygen 2.0 so if you want to keep with the same dev it's the way to go. At the moment we are on RC7, but in the next few weeks the final build will be released, we are just waiting on the new Gingerbread OTA for the NexusOne.
Keep an eye out for it if you don't want to use a release candidate (at the moment the camera doesn't work in high quality video recording), I highly recommend it.
The thing to do would be to learn to read. In the development section for example.

Oxygen RC7 is here, take a look at it. Like I said the only thing that isn't functioning is the camera. Adam didn't want to hack up the Framework to get the camera hack working like Richardtrip has done for Ginger Villain But I love Oxygen and would highly reccomend it. A couple of weeks and the release of Nexus One OTA will be about and the Oxygen final build will be uploaded.

Try CyanogenMod 7 or use Google and install Ultimate Droid Mod 3.3.0. If you prefer the HTC UI called Sense UI you could use Virtuous Rom. If you prefer the "iPhone"-Style (please dont punish me for that xD) you could use a MIUI rom.

xboarder's rom is built from CM7 source, but isn't CM7 itself. still, it is new and if you like it, it should work better than GV1.5 in terms of bugs.
be on the lookout for a gingervillain update sometime in the future, though. I've been waiting for a loooong time for 2.0 to roll out.

Use PyroMod 2.3.4. TeamVillain abandoned GV months ago.

when GV 1.5 came out, in my humble opinion, it was the best aosp rom available. not sure when we will see an update, but when we do I don't doubt that it will be pretty slick.

not sure why you say that, russell just got a job.. give the man a break. I'm sure there will be more coming from him as he adjusts to his new schedule. may not be for the vision but we can port it.

I can't wait! I know we have 2.3 already but am very excited bout some new roms based off of it using the proprietary drivers and stuff that was made specifically for this phone! I know the desire z finally came out but not a big fan of sense. Love my CM but ready for a change of scenery I did not have this phone in the beginning but I'm assuming there was a butt load of custom froyo roms based off the official till froyo became old news.

the leaked gingerbread build for the g2 is the official and there are already asop roms out. check out rmks glite rom.
Totally agree with you OP! Use to like sense but not much anymore, to me feels like a bloatware and takes up to much resources. Whilst I do love CM7, theres always somthing that doesn't function quite right.
Has the official 2.3 update arrived yet for the G2? Or any ETA's?

Its not the final. People who have gotten the phone with that build of gb on it from tmobile (refurbs) have been told they have accidentally gotten a test build of gingerbread on it. Also if it was really the final why would it have been finished months ago and still not released.

Check out mexDroidrom's pre-ghost chili rom. It's super fast with eye candy
So my partners Blackberry has finally died & she's slightly pissed at me (I may have jumped for joy when she told me xD) Anyway she has asked if she can use my old phone (which I just use to play with know a days) which is this beautiful HTC Vision.
I'm trying to decided which Rom to go with as it will be her first ever Android device, I got her to play with a few different android devices from where I work & the only thing she said was "I don't like them HTC's, there complicated" ¬_¬
So I'm thinking of using a Stock android Rom but as i haven't kept up with the Vision ROM development (To busy playing with my Galaxy Nexus xD) I'm gonna ask the good people of XDA..
Which ROM have you found to be the most stable & best battery life?
Thanks in advance guys & girls ^_^
If she thinks they're complicated try miui.us
If she wants asop go glite
If she want more customization use a cm7 based rom - try ilwt
If she wants pretty sense ask someone else I don't use sense
Don't go ics
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
There is a new sense rom based on android 2.3.5 (I think) with sense 1.9. Its the zippiest sense rom I've tried. Other than that..... what he said /\

I've been running Andro Beta 2 since it was released, and Alphas 5-12. All were solid for me as a DD.
Personally I would install Virtuous 2.0 and then supercharge it.

Not for daily use for someone that wants a complete phone. No camcorder, glitches, camera glitches if you don't use stock app, no fm.
I use Andromadus and wouldn't ever change it with Gingerbread, but I wouldn't suggest it for a new user.
Go Miui!
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA
I always thought Sense was simple and awesome. The second one that is...but yeah, you should go with MIUI, it won't get simpler than that.
Yeah, virtuous sense 2. Smooth but with sense to help break android to a newbie.

I would recommend either virtuous sense or the latest miui version.
Both are very easy to use and have no major glitches or bugs!

I concur with this, ILWT is the way to go for CM7 based rom.
For sense, last time when I was in my flashing mode, Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 was my daily driver. Until it couldn't keep up with me, then I switched to ILWT
