Otterbox users....battery access? - Captivate Accessories

Thinking about ordering an otterbox case and wondering if it allows for easy access to the battery as I switch batteries daily? I could order a cheap silicon one but thought I would allow some experts to chime in before deciding.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

I have the middle case, and it's not hard to get to the battery. It's not super easy, but it's not hard. I don't think I'd want to do it daily though, as it could well stretch the silicon casing.

Thanks e_man, exactly the information I'm looking for. Looking for a case that would best fit a battery switcher as I have a spare battery. Stretching the product is definetly something I should avoid.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

Your best bet is going to end up being a Zagg full body shield. Doesn't stop drop damage, but it's good for scratches. You're going to destroy the mechanism that clips in the battery if you keep doing this though probably. It's going to get worn down.

Zagg had been my choice of coverage so far. Not sure if I have had a poor install, but it seems that the pieces shift when they become warm from being close to my body in my pocket. Then the adhesive begins to wear off and the next thing I know I have edges sticking up. They were replaced once and I could have them redone again but I don't want to go through this process every 6 months. So this is why I have been looking for a different solution. Actually the back panel has held up the best no problems once so ever changing batteries.

I have the otter box that comes as two pieces (this could be the only model tbh I just got it when I bought my captivate because I needed a case and never looked into what case I was going to get) a rubber case that covers the whole phone then a hard plastic cover for that. Overall its not incredibly hard to take the case off (no more than a minute) but getting the case back on can be a bit of a hassle mostly because the covers for the buttons are large to fit through the hard plastic. Really I don't think it would be too hard for you to use the otter box if you wanted to switch batteries mid-day.

I am thinking about just getting the entry level Impact and from what I have read there is a bit of slack in the case which should make removal and putting it back on easier. Thanks bulletproof almost sold on the idea.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

Yeah just looking at the Otter Box site now...I have the Commuter case and just looking at the Commuter and Impact I don't know. It looks like the impact would definetly suffer from repeated removal just because of the silicon stretching. I can personally attest that the Commuter's inner case is very loose (its meant to be held in place by the hard plastic) so it wouldn't suffer from any stretching. Other than the price of the Commuter (its $34.95 on the site compared to the $19.95 of the Impact) the only bad thing I can say about the case is that there is cover for the headphone jack that made the case ride up when I pulled it out of my pocket. But I fixed that by just cutting it off. Either way Otter Boxes are amazing which ever one you get.

Did some lurking around other threads and saw some pics of the Commuter and I really like the idea of having pieces. Probably will order direct if I find a code that works if not will probably head over to Amazon. Great salesman you are bulletproof!

I like the otter boxes but wouldn't it be better/easier to just get another wall charger or car charger instead?
I just bought a bluetooth unit with a micro usb charger that I will keep at work and I already have the car charger. Tbh, the bluetooth charger didn't seem to keep up while listening to espn online today.

I have the commuter case as well - I picked it over the entry case since it has a hard shell to keep the silicone sleeve in place and I have to say, it does a wonderful job.
If you're changing batteries daily, this wouldn't be a good choice - it's not tough to get the pieces off, but with daily removal I can see it stretching out the silicone sleeve prematurely (the commuter case has a thinner sleeve than the entry level).
If I were you, I'd see if the option of plugging the phone in for charging during the day may be an option (if you're sitting at a desk at work or something) rather than constantly switching batteries... the commuter case is pretty awesome!

I use the Impact case and it comes off easily for battery access without stretching too much. It is priced around $7 now in Amazon so you could try it. I ordered the Defender so I will see if I can continue to do the daily change easily. Otherwise I will have to charge during the day.

I have never been a fan of silicon cases as they come off too easy, especially if you put it in your pocket. That being said i bought the Otterbox Impact, it actually stays on very well. What made me buy it is i don't like big, thick cases that are bulky and this one is just right, good grip without the bulk.
Edit: Oh yeah, it's real easy to take off and on as well.

For any box with clips, u'd end up breaking the clips and/or loosening it if u keep putting it in n out daily.

I have had cheap silicon cases before with other phones and never experienced much if at all stretching when switching batteries on a daily basis. Does otter box silicon have a tendency to stretch more than a cheap silicon case? I would hope not.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

I have the defender case... It is for sure not the best case for you especially if you are going to change the battery daily. It has a hard shell then a silicone case over it. I love it because it is so durable but in your case it might not be the best idea.

I'm going to chime in here with my experience with the Commuter case... I agree with bulletproof, the silicone case is loose enough to make removal easy, if you're careful I'm sure stretching wouldn't be an issue. I'm very happy with mine. WirelessWave had mine for $39.99 here in Vancouver.

trow the rubber back on. you can see the outer rim that needs to be fitted back in and the top plugs.

it also comes with a screen protector. smears like no tomorrow. i got it applied perfect with no bubbles lint or smudges (on my third try using the method i posted here)

I took the plunge on the Commuter. Looking at the breakdown of the Defender, I would have to say it looks easy but yes doing those steps daily would probably grow tiresome. My Commuter should be here in the next couple of days. I'm excited! Thanks everyone for input! I will place a review about my ability to use the Commuter with daily battery changes in the near future.

Surface II or active

This is my final question about a case for my Evo, Im down to the Seidio Innocase II Surface and the Active which case will be the better choice? I red a couple reviews about the active not fitting correctly and i heard horror stories about the surface scratching the edges
I love my blue Seidio Innocase II Surface Case (looks purple on amazon)... Fits tight, no play. I have to go slow when I put it on so that I don't lift up the edge of my invisashield.
I think my case is the active and I hate it. The back has started to peel and a corner broke like it came unglued. I'm going to get an otterbox instead I think.

Looks like you have the innocase active limited edition, available only through amazon. I have the same and the plastic skeleton doesn't fit 100% perfectly, but it's not bad. I too had some clips (top and bottom right) break off, but mine gets banged up a lot while i'm at work so I wasn't too surprised.
The regular innocase active looks like the skeleton has been enlarged to prevent the clips from breaking.
I just ordered an otterbox commuter case and a seidio innocase rugged combo.
Personally, I like having the combo of a hard shell with the soft cushion of the silicone.

I had the exact same thing happen, but sedio did honor the warranty. Just a thought.
I bought the PT brand from Best Buy today and I believe it is the same as the surface. It is made by Seidio but labeled differently.
I love it. Doesn't add much bulk and feels good in the hand.
Well maybe I'll give them a call about the warranty. I like the overall case design just disappointed in the flaws I've had with it so far. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm in the same boat, my rugged has had the corners break off both on my case and my wife's.
I don't think I want to pay for the shipping to replace it through warranty though...I think I may just wait for TridentCase to make a Kraken case for the Evo.
Well, just got the seidio rugged case today and i'm really not impressed. Basically a larger version of the active limited edition. The plastic skeleton seems better quality though. Cheap port covers. My suggestions to seidio: take the rugged and shrink it to fit without the surface. Then make the belt clip so the phone can be inserted face in AND face out and reconfigure the top latch to be smaller/smoother.
Long story short, I switched back to my active limited while I wait for the trident cyclops and the otterbox commuter cases that I ordered to arrive.
Ps: I noticed that the exoskelleton from the rugged fits PERFECTLY over the one from the active limited.

No problems with my innocase active I got from eBay, I've seen a lot of people complaining about the limited edition one Amazon sells, very happy with mine though, and ebay had it cheaper than seidio's website. The otterbox isn't bad but only comes in one color I think.

Hate to be a bother, but anyway you or anyone can post pictures of their Active case? I'm on the fence about buying one, and if I do it'll be the Active case with holster combo.
Seidio says the camera does not touch any flat surface with the case, and it actually looks as if it doesn't add TOO much bulk to the phone like some others, and a couple of the Otterbox's I was looking at fall into that category.

The camera does not touch on a flat surface.
The case adds very little bulk, but it will sure seem like it does when you hold the evo naked after using it a while. Same for any case of this type.
I have the regular active (not the LE with smaller outer shell) and the rubbery outer coating has worn off in the corners like in the pics of the LE that were posted. I'm sure this is due to my using it in a snug leather case, and is confined to the corners. No big deal to me. You can only tell if you look closely.
As far as fit goes, it is snug and well designed. Button use is as good as naked. Only complaint is dust builds up slowly on the left side where the outer shell fits into the soft inner layer. I take it apart and rinse the soft layer off every couple weeks.
My phone has taken several 3ft drops (off desk, out of shirt pocket while tying shoe lace) and is completely unharmed.
Is it the best case in the world? Maybe not, but it is comfortable to hold and protects the phone very well.
If this one were to break, I may try the otterbox but I'm not parting with it any time soon.
The pictures on Seidio's web site are better than what I could send you.

I have the New Blue/Black Active Case and i LOVE it it fits perfectly its easy to take off if you need to swap batteries or put it in a dock, the new STyle Active is very durable doesn't crack easily.
Ive had mine for months now and the only visable issue with the back is where the Seidio name is its rubbing off from being set down and rubbed against other than that it's great it fits perfectly doesn't shift no gaps nothing.
the pictures they posted for the active in the beginning of this post is from the Active LIMITED it was their trial run before they changed it to the new Style
This is The New Active Case

I have the speck and the incipio feather. The speck adds too much bulk to the phone but the case looks nice and protects the phone appropriate. The incipio feather is really nice but it cracks easily even without dropping the phone just by taking it off the phone several times....
I have the spek case and while it does add bulk, it adds extremely good protection.

I have the Speck case and am more than impressed with it. Although it does add a little size to the stock phone, the protection is more than worth it. Side by side with the otter box and this thing looks as thin as a poker chip. Also the back of the case does get scratched up but who cares, that's what cases are for! This case meets every one of my needs so to me there's no better case on the market right now.

I have the spec case amazing i also had a speck case on the iphone the case holds up and really protects the phone i recommend it highly
ive been using the case since i got the phone and really like how theres a hard shell and the rubber lining around the screen. also makes the phone feel really solid. it does scratch really easily but i put some carbon fiber tape on it to cover it up and add some grip. its still a bit slippery for me so i just ordered a tpu case from ebay to see how it feels.
heres a pic of the speck

I have this same issue with the Speck case, and its really frustrating. The way I do it is to turn it over, push the center of the case with both my thumbs (as if you're holding a sandwich/burger). Keep pressing it and flexing the sides until the back cover pops off partially (usually from the top of the phone), and then separate the phone from the case by slowly pulling on it from top to bottom.

Sigh.....
call me a fruit, but it pisses me off that Speck is only making making one color of the case
just purchased the Speck case today from AT&T
It fits perfectly, in my opinion it DOES NOT add very much bulk to the phone AT ALL. But I did just come off of the OtterBox Defender that is a big freakin case
Overall, the Speck to me, seems like a phenomenal case, fits well, doesn't add any weight or size to the phone that is unnecessary, and the all black gloss looks sleek
I compared the spec against the otterbox commuter the other day at AT&T store and went with the commuter for the same price. About the same bulk. Both the store employee and I struggled to remove the spec, which at least means it's secure, and it dang near broke my battery cover since it popped off and got stuck in the spec. If the spec were a lot cheaper or you didn't want to pop it off often it seems great but the 2 piece design of the commuter is pretty ideal.

i absolutely love my speck case. i take my phone out by just using one hand to kinda pull the lip away from the phone screen, and the other hand to push in the fingerprint scanner.
i wish it looked cooler, but for the protection it adds with not a lot of bulk (IMO at least, it's not that bad at all, i compared it to my friend's otterbox'd iphone and i much prefer my speck)
it is a pain in the arse to remove.. i push the phone out by the power button/fingerprint scanner, while simultaneously pulling back on the lip of the case.
it keeps your phone protected thats for damn sure --but I use the Incipie feather as my everyday ---- the sleekness of it is way better

the only thing i dont like about this case is the scratches that it gets on it. best way for me to get it off is left thumb in the camera hole right thumb in the bottom of the finger print scanner and fingers on the rubber edges on the front.
I think the case is good, better then decent drop protection but the scratches make me sad haha, honestly it was worth getting but I will be searching for a new one simply because I am picky and like different cases for different situations.

Just bought an OtterBox Commuter case

I've had it about 2-3 weeks now, and I have to say, I'm liking it. It's also paid off too, I've dropped my phone a few times now, and I was happy I had the case on it.
It's a 2-piece case, the first layer being a rubber/silicone "glove" and the 2nd piece is a tough plastic outer shell that holds to the phone and silicone nicely. It also features flaps that cover the hdmi/charging ports and the headphone jack. The headphone jack cover is nice, it prevents water or pocket lint from getting inside, however I'm a bit iffy on the charging port cover. Its a silicone flap about an inch long that just kinda sticks into itself to remain closed. The problem with this design is that the flap opens when stuffed into your pocket, or getting caught up on the fabric and turning your pocket inside out when removing from your pocket. It's not a BIG deal to normal, regular human beings. But for guys who like to wear their sister's jeans, this might not be the phone-case for you.
Another issue, and again, not really a big deal at all, was with the kickstand. This case allows you to still use the Evo's kickstand. However the added size of the case prevents the phone from being very physically stable while using it. If you have your phone plugged in and charging while watching a movie on it using the kickstand, you would have to fight a little bit with the cord to prevent it from pulling the phone over. Not a big deal.
This case might still fit into most car docks. I have the MountTek cd-player mounted dock/holder, and it still fits in there. Not perfectly, but enough to hold it well. I don't know about any others.
At first, the ACTUAL case felt cheap. But after ACTUALLY having it for a while, I do ACTUALLY like it. I ACTUALLY chose the commuter case because I didn't want the bulkiness of the Defender case, but I wanted something more than the Impact. I find that the Commuter case fits the ACTUAL bill perfectly. It ACTUALLY holds well in my hand, and is ACTUALLY great for being able to just set down on the table, as it protects the ACTUAL protruding camera lens, the ACTUAL rear speaker, and the ACTUAL flash LEDs.
Yeah I've had mine for around 6 months maybe more. I forget. I cut off the bottom port protector. My only gripe is if you change batteries often the silicone inner case stretches.
Looks nice just bought the defender on eBay for 30 bucks the company from what I read fixed the kickstand issue.

Dust doesnt really get onto the phone, but the exposed silicone parts do collect dust and lint. Protects the phone though, I can deal with the rest.
I was going to do a video review of this case being completely stereotypical of the youtube videos out there, I was thinking something along the lines of..
"yo whats up its ya boy jasongthang, aka Jason, here to show you the uh... the uh.. Otterbox Def- uh- I mean Commuter case for the HTC Evo. First off, right off the bat, you can actually see the case is actually two pieces".... yada yada
but i didnt want to take away from the review or step on any toes..
I currently am using the Defender series and I can say I am loving it. I had the Impact one before, which was a waste, but Defender is pretty legit.
"Perfect is almost good enough"
I just got the Defender yesterday, and all in all I can say I'm pleased with it. Some reviewers over at Amazon call it "cumbersome," TBH the Evo is cumbersome to begin with.
I've got this as well.
I cut off the part over the charging port and it's much nicer. My only gripe now is that its pretty difficult to press the power button now.
I bought me and my wife the defender series a couple months ago. They were priced at $28 a piece on Newegg at the time.
They are awesome cases, but I have to say that the kickstand on them is cheaply made. Both of our kickstands broke off withing 3 weeks. But, I hardly use the kickstand anyway so it doesnt really bother me.
yeah i just picked up the defender case on ebay, thing is holding up like a champ, been dropped a few times by accident and it takes all the impact, great cases from Otterbox, had one for almost all my phones
The Commuter case is good for me, I actually snapped the bottom portion where the kickstand is shown, but I contacted Otter Box and they sent me a new one. So far so good with this one.
I bought the Otterbox Commuter some time ago to replace a very, very inexpensive silicone "shell" (it only protected the back of my EVO). Thus far, I've been happy with it, too. The supplied screen protector was crap so I replaced it with one from REALOOK. The silicone shell on my Commuter does attract some lint but said lint rubs off easily with a damp thumb moistened from water from a faucet.
I have yet to drop my EVO at all but the Commuter protects it wonderfully from dust and damage from sliding the device across tables, et cetera.

Yeah, good point. The screen protector it comes with is worthless. I tried many times to get it on right and it looked horrible. Right now I'm using PhantomSkinz screen protector. Its nice, but it seems the bottom edge is peeling up due to the edge of the case touching it. I have an extra phantomskinz protector and a Zagg, I'll change it out one of these days.
Just got my defender case today, and I love it. I can deal with the slight bulk it adds, got it off of Amazon for $28. Well worth the money.

I bought a commuter case in November and broke it. It cracked on the weak part by the kick stand. I called and they sent me a defender at no charge. I just put it oj. Bulky but tough. Well see!

[Review] Acase Leather Ez Folio Case

So the initial reason why I decided on the galaxy tab was because of its incredibly thin profile and light design.
I searched for days picking apart cases so I could keep that thin, light profile.
Well I think we found a winner folks. Its the Acase Ez Leather Folio Case.
It has an excellent feel to it, holding the tablet very tightly inside. It has those nifty magnetic flaps to keep it shut when needed. It has all of the ports cut out properly, including speakers, and the build quality is top notch.
It really has the two best viewing angles you could ask for. Perfect for typing, perfect for watching movies.
When you fold back its flap, it keeps the tablet thin and easy to view in landscape.
I guess my only 2 gripes is there not being a cut out for the charger when the flap is closed. But that seems to be very common among all folio cases. I guess they are trying to keep the dust out. Not a big deal for me as I am pretty good with a ruler and an exacto knife.
My other gripe is the bowing of the edges around the rim of the glass. It doesnt lay completely flat or flush. Although I will say its extremely stiff and probably the best I've seen in comparison. Alot of the other folio cases use a super thin and flapity leather or vinyl and, not only does it look cheap its very loose. This one is definitely an improvement over those. Its tight and uses a very thick, high quality leather, best I've seen.
If your looking for a high quality leather folio case that will keep your tablet thin & light without breaking the bank, then I recommended you go pick this one up on Amazon for $30 Shipped.
Dont forget to hit thanks if this post helped you!!

Looks very functional and thin but I am not loving the contrast white stitching.
I can't decide if I want to put full Ghost Armor on my GT or go for one of these type of cases. I would have loved the knock off Apple smart case, hopefully Samsung will approve that one soon. Screw crapple.
Personally, I love the white stitching. It matches my wallet and shoes! Haha.
Comparing it to all other folio cases, at least this one is unique with its own bit of personality and style. Searching through tons of cases, I was tired of seeing the same boaring straight black cases. I guess to each his own, but I like it cause it stands out.

Thanks for this! I was about to pull the trigger on the official Samsung case, but then I figured I'd take another quick look at the forums to see if I missed anything. I looked at your post and immediately changed my mind. I was looking for something that didn't add much bulk to the device, but would protect it fairly well. This looks pretty stylish to boot.
Also got a 3 pack of the same company's screen protectors for the Tab for 20 percent off with purchase of this case on Amazon. Ordering the case and the protectors, with next day shipping on Prime was 48 dollars, still about 20 dollars less than the Samsung case. Thank you SO much!
I like the case, just not the stitching, just my opinion.
The problem with getting such a brand new device is there not being anough quality choices in cases. Happens to me a lot because I unfortunately like to be an early adopter. I have spent so much money on Blackberry cases because I changed berries so damn often. Same happene with my Evo, bought a Golla pouch that I thought I would really like and then ended up not liking it so I got something else.
I may just do a full Ghost Armor for now until I find the ideal case, or just get the pasic slip in case for now.
I would have to agree on the stitching aspect. I like the case and would definitely buy it but I just think that doesn't sit with me for some reason. Thanks for the review.Nice to get one from a user aspect and not a company. Something I have been reading and searching for all day.
I love the look of this case. I am down to this case and the Melkco case. Tough decision to make.
Your welcome!

My favorite line.
Just because we are gadget geeks, does not mean there is any excuse for not dressing well and being stylish.

One of these days i will take a picture of my shoes and wallet and youll see what im talking about
This reminds me of the Yoobao executive folio case that I had for my iPad2. Have been looking for something like that and this is almost exactly like it.
Thx alot for the tip bro.
I received my Acase case today. It is a very sleek leather case that does not take away from it's attractiveness and yet its a great protective cover for my GT10.1. It is the best of both worlds.
Amazon Prime members can get it for a total of 24.95 landed.

Got mine and have been using it for about three weeks. I agree with the review overall. Unfortunately, the stitching on one of the corners is coming apart. I hope I can return it.
As long as you haven't poured something on the case or abused the case, you should be able to rightfully claim poor workmanship. No vendor wants to see bad reviews of their business on Amazon or on any message board.
Sorry to bump this old thread, but I think this deserves some bumpage.
I've been using the case for a few weeks now and I have one major complaint. Either the stitching is coming loose, or the leather is wearing down already. The leather tab that folds over the tablet to keep it in place does not stretch tightly anymore.
This means that when holding the tablet normally, since the bottom of the tablet rests on this flap, the tablet falls through the case quite a bit. Not only do the speakers get covered since it's not sitting right in the case anymore, but the entire thing is just annoying. Very hard to hit volume or power buttons, etc.
The Tab has not fallen completely out of the case....yet. But I can see that is where this is heading.
Funny thing is, I haven't even used the Tab all that much since getting the case. This case wore VERY quickly, and now I'm looking into other options. Don't think I can get my money back from Amazon at this point either
Anybody else with this case seeing this happen?
EDIT: Can take pictures to show what I'm talking about if asked

Boxwave Case + Holster with Kickstand Review (Pics)

Hey everyone so I just received this case and I wanted to give you guys a rundown on what I think about it.
So the case in question is this one. As you can see from the pictures it is a hard 1-piece case that snaps on to the phone, as well as a holster with a soft fabric lining that will not scratch the screen, and a kickstand.

The case itself is very nice. It has a good solid fit with the phone, no moving or sliding off here. It is made of a rubberized material that feels good in the hand, and the texture on the back provides a good grip. There are cutouts for the power and volume buttons so they are easy to press. As with most cases of this style, the top and bottom of the phone are exposed, BUT the case goes around the corners and extends off the top/bottom ever so slightly, that the case should absorb the main blunt of the impact, should the phone land on that position. The case comes up about 1mm off the screen so that the screen will not touch the surface if you place it face down. All in all I like the way it looks and feels, and I feel it provides adequate protection to the phone.
The holster is made of the same material as the case. Once again, the finish feels good in the hand. It has 3 "arms" that secure the phone in place when it is in the holster. It snaps into place and it feels secure and sturdy. The phone can be put into the holster with either the screen facing in or out. There is a soft fabric material on the inner side of the holster that protects the screen from scratching when the phone is mounted with the screen facing in. The clip on the holster is the star here, because it doubles as a kickstand. It rotates 180 degrees which allows you to position it any way you want. You simply open the clip and pull out a metal prop to keep the clip in its open position, and you've got yourself a kickstand. Another useful feature is that you can mount the clip onto the vents in your car to use it to hold the phone while using GPS navigation. This is really handy for those of use who live in a state where it's illegal to mount a GPS device on the windshield. Once again the holster is superb and incredibly useful.
Overall I'd definitely recommend this case to anyone who wants something sleek that doesn't add a lot of bulk, but that still wants good protection against drops. The holster with the kickstand makes it great for watching movies and videos. And the fact that you can mount it on your car vents for GPS navigation make this an awesome product. I definitely recommend!
WARNING:There is a similar case for this phone on eBay, but it is NOT the same! DO NOT BUY IT! I bought both and the eBay one is garbage! It doesn't even fit properly, adds a lot more bulk, and you can't mount the phone on the holster with the screen facing out (essentially making the kickstand feature useless!!).
Here is how to tell the difference: The ebay ones have only TWO "arms" to secure the phone:
And they have a SMALL cutout by the speaker, instead of a big one like the Boxwave one:
Don't buy the ebay ones they are garbage (unless you find a boxwave case on ebay). Don't make the same mistake I did.
Nice review. Now only if someone would make an ultra thin snap on case with a kickstand. Had one for my iphone and loved it.

Yeah I also wanted something thin that didn't add a lot of bulk. I think this fits that need.
It is nice and it doesn't add too much bulk. I just wish it had a locking clip on the top. Great buy for $13 bucks.

I really appreciate the review. It's EXACTLY the case i want. I've seen the boxwave for the Galaxy Nexus and Iphone up close first and and really like them. I also saw the cheap knockoff on the iphone and after one drop and keeping it in the pocket, the exterior matte finish was wearing off badly.
I have this Boxwave product as well. It's very nice. The stand feature works well and this case doesn't add much bulk at all. It's keeper.
Just thought I'd give an update. My boxwaves matte finish is wearing off after one week of use.

ive had 2 of them...although the case itself is nice and i really liked the belt clip and overall design..they are only like $12 on ebay, you get what you pay for...the belt clip broke off on both of them and i wasnt even doing anything...just a small nudge and the cheap plastic that holds it broke...i have given up on this case/belt combo...now im back to the old tpu case i bought and it works a lot better, i dont have to worry about breaking it
Not impressed.... Seidio is much better and you can order a holster too. Great fit and quality. Highly recommended.

I ordered a sgs2 yesterday since it was free .. don't have the phone yet but I actually was looking at this along w a tpu case. I like the holster look but wanted protection for top and bottom too. I was wondering if anyone knows if a tpu case can fit it in.

yes, i had this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SOFT-GEL-TP...182019?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item589236b983 from another seller on ebay
and this (broke the belt clip off by accident)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Case-Samsun...583185?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item53eb563d91
the slightly different version of this holster....there is little bit of extra space though..very very slight...it wont fall out by might move slightly...works well if you dont mind the extra space
Thanks .. I was thinking of the exact same tpu but in clear/white but I guess the black you got looks better with the holster. Can't wait for the phone to come home and okay with it ;-)

Btw .. you mind giving some input on the quality of that belt clip and is it good enough for day to day use? I actually like the seidiko combo better but since I paid 6 bucks (shipping) for tis phone after instant rebate and waived upgrade fee .. it doesn't seem justified to spend $45 for a case to go on a $6 phone ... but if the clip is too weak I might just give in and invest in something more sturdy.
Thanks for the info!

That's the knockoff the op was warning about, isn't it?
yes, its the knockoff...i bought it first a long time ago...broke the belt clip off of it...then saw the other one..bought it, and just recently broke the belt clip off of that one as well
the knockoff is just as good except for 1 thing..the phone doesnt fit with the screen facing outwards...so you cant use it as a kickstand to watch videos...if your looking for a case/holster it does the job just the same
my conclusion after buying both (and breaking both) is that the case/holster is nice but delicate...both times i broke it i was barely doing anything..i just tapped it and the cheap plastic tab that holds the belt clip broke off
i ended up spending like $28 total for both...and im back to my old TPU case and leather pouch...i dont have to worry about breaking the pouch..ive had it for like 2 years already..used it with my vibrant and it also fits the SG2..im sure the seidio combo is a lot more durable
also, if you got the SG2 for free thats great..however that doesnt change the value of the phone..its still a $600 phone, if you really want to protect it you gotta spend the $$...consider yourself lucky to be able to get the SG2 and a great case for only $51

Yeah I agree .. i actually like that seidio case too and it looks sturdy enough. I guess seidio it is
1 huge problem I experienced: The phone is not clipped into the holster and will pop out with when the moons line up. I wear mine horizontally and the moons lined up the other day and it hit the ground ... and when the sleeve hit the ground, the phone popped out too.
Other than that, everything else was cool but since this a biggie for me, I'm on the prowl for another case.
nooooooo!!!! i wish i saw this thread sooner. already ordered the ebay one...
