I'll try to make this quick. The case has a very nice soft rubbery finish. it fits realyl nicely and tight, but it is not hard to put on at all. It is also easy to take off starting from the top of the phone. It doesn't block any buttons nor the bottom-front and sides of the phones where the soft keys are located and where you usually scroll on the touch screen. I bought this directly from Incipio instead of waiting for it to hit eBay.

Thanks for the hi-def pics. I'd been looking at the two Incipio cases versus Otterbox. Still not convinced I need a case yet, but the feather looks nice.
awesome - i had a feather case for my zune, and loved it. i was kinda hoping they'd make something for the captivate.
Seems to rather miss the point of a case IMO; what's the point of a case that doesn't cover all 8 corners?
I have this now and like it a lot
Its a case thats meant to stay out of the way but still have some protection, just the back obviously lol. Main thing i like about it is the feel, without a case i always feel like im goin to drop my phone....but with this it gives a better/secure feel in your hands
Hmm this case looks pretty decent. Thanks for the pics, I may end up getting this!

Same here. I have dropped my phone 3 times outside since I have owned it from September and once with this Feather case after going to a club and getting wasted.
I'm using this one as well. Tried a number of cases when I had the iphone 3GS. So when I saw they have one for the captivate it was the first case I got.
I'm a bit disappointed though. It doesn't look as symmetrical as the one for iphone. And the rubbery material has rubbed off quite easily at the corners. I did not have this problem with the iphone case.
Still a great case. Love the feel and how thin it is.

I agree. If you drop it face first there doesn't seem to be any protection. Personally I like the Otterbox Commuter case as it gives you protection on all corners and still is pretty slim.... but that's just me.

The otterbox commuter case is going to make the phone larger in width it but it offer 100% protect to the phone. The plastic is no way cheap. It is made of the same polycarbonate material as your case. It is a tight fit with a silicone lining to offer impact protection. Your case only protects the back of the phone. The most most breakable part such as the glass is left completely exposed. I'm not trying to start anything but that case seem completely pointless.
Also, the feather case you are showing is very different from what is showing on their site. You look like to have some sort of belt clip phone holder then a case.

Some people don't need the Commuter. I have it and realized it's annoying to take it in and out of your pocket. So a nice thin minimal case like the feather is just what we need for day to day use. When I go camping I'll throw on the commuter.

It seems like it's a website mistake as those pics are exactly the same as the ones used for the EDGE case.
I agree though, the part of the phone that needs the most protection is the part where this case has absolutely none. Their feather case for the Vibrant is designed far better.
that case looks pretty sweet
Thanks for the heads up. I've never heard of this product but bought one. I really like it. Very sleek.

They will send you a new one. Just be careful putting it on and taking it off.
bought Insipio feather from Amazon. Love it. It gives you protection for back and some protection for corners, but it doesn't make it totally alien or bulky looking because the glossy parts are still exposed. If you want complete protection then this is not for you, but if you want some protection yet still sharp looking without matt/dull finish all over the phone then this is for you. Something about matt cover not being visible over the front of the phone makes it appealing.

I got this one as well. Had it for my Captivate too. Works great and doesn't stick to your pocket lining.
I think the Incipio Feather case should be very thin. Available from them directly or I'm hearing in Radio Shack too.
We have that same case on the wife's iP4 and it adds almost no bulk to the phone. It probably doesn't provide much shock resistance like the Otterbox cases, but prevents scratches and makes it easier to grip.
I purchased a smoke TPU case off of EBay; should be here today or tomorrow. I've used a TPU case on my EVO since about 2 weeks after I had it and I love the feel and the slimness of the case, and the fact that it provides a bumper of sorts to keep the screen from lying on surfaces (unlike the Incipio case).
The one I purchased is item 290530353216 (chose that one due to the seller's location being near to me, only reason really).
If you have prime with Amazon, the case 2 posts above is only $2 with 2 day shipping
http://www.amazon.com/EMPIRE-Black-...LKO4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1298653527&sr=8-2
Can you still dock the phone with the body glove?
The body glove case works with the car dock perfectly. It's a great case. Not to rubbery and not to slippery, just right.
any TPU case is the way to go. rubbery and protective, but not too rubbery to stick in your pocket and not come out.

I purchased the Speck case at the Att store. Very good protection nice looks without the added bulk of an otterbox case.

Cross posting this from the Incipio thread:
Just scored the Incipio Feather case (in black) - we're already using one on our iPhone 4, and I really like it. I wanted something to cover the back/side, provide better grip, and maybe offer a touch of drop resistance, but that's secondary.
The material is super thin, like 0.5mm or thinner, it basically adds no bulk to the phone. It does come with a screen protector, but I doubt I'll use it, I'm pretty gentle with my phones and they're usually just in my pocket (and I keep my rusty nails and broken glass in a +different+ pocket). Plus the design isn't edge-to-edut
The fit is tight, really clean, the ports/buttons are easily accessible. It uses that popular "soft touch" type material, which has an almost felt like surface. We have a Speck case that's like this. The nice thing vs. silicone is it's grippy, but it doesn't attract dust ~n~ gunk and wipes clean. It also isn't so sticky that it's hard to get out of a pocket!

The Body Glove does not work with these docks. It will fit (extremely tight), but the thickness of the sides of the case near the HDMI and microUSB ports keeps the phone from sitting all the way down on the dock. The end result is that it doesn't trigger or power the device.
I ended up returning my dock because of this.
+1 for the Incipio feather. Its the right mix of style and protection in the this case range. I dropped my phone about two feet this morning, and the feather was more than adequate to protect it.

I have the speck and the incipio feather. The speck adds too much bulk to the phone but the case looks nice and protects the phone appropriate. The incipio feather is really nice but it cracks easily even without dropping the phone just by taking it off the phone several times....

I have the Speck case and am more than impressed with it. Although it does add a little size to the stock phone, the protection is more than worth it. Side by side with the otter box and this thing looks as thin as a poker chip. Also the back of the case does get scratched up but who cares, that's what cases are for! This case meets every one of my needs so to me there's no better case on the market right now.

I have the spec case amazing i also had a speck case on the iphone the case holds up and really protects the phone i recommend it highly
ive been using the case since i got the phone and really like how theres a hard shell and the rubber lining around the screen. also makes the phone feel really solid. it does scratch really easily but i put some carbon fiber tape on it to cover it up and add some grip. its still a bit slippery for me so i just ordered a tpu case from ebay to see how it feels.
heres a pic of the speck

I have this same issue with the Speck case, and its really frustrating. The way I do it is to turn it over, push the center of the case with both my thumbs (as if you're holding a sandwich/burger). Keep pressing it and flexing the sides until the back cover pops off partially (usually from the top of the phone), and then separate the phone from the case by slowly pulling on it from top to bottom.

Sigh.....
call me a fruit, but it pisses me off that Speck is only making making one color of the case
just purchased the Speck case today from AT&T
It fits perfectly, in my opinion it DOES NOT add very much bulk to the phone AT ALL. But I did just come off of the OtterBox Defender that is a big freakin case
Overall, the Speck to me, seems like a phenomenal case, fits well, doesn't add any weight or size to the phone that is unnecessary, and the all black gloss looks sleek
I compared the spec against the otterbox commuter the other day at AT&T store and went with the commuter for the same price. About the same bulk. Both the store employee and I struggled to remove the spec, which at least means it's secure, and it dang near broke my battery cover since it popped off and got stuck in the spec. If the spec were a lot cheaper or you didn't want to pop it off often it seems great but the 2 piece design of the commuter is pretty ideal.

i absolutely love my speck case. i take my phone out by just using one hand to kinda pull the lip away from the phone screen, and the other hand to push in the fingerprint scanner.
i wish it looked cooler, but for the protection it adds with not a lot of bulk (IMO at least, it's not that bad at all, i compared it to my friend's otterbox'd iphone and i much prefer my speck)
it is a pain in the arse to remove.. i push the phone out by the power button/fingerprint scanner, while simultaneously pulling back on the lip of the case.
it keeps your phone protected thats for damn sure --but I use the Incipie feather as my everyday ---- the sleekness of it is way better

the only thing i dont like about this case is the scratches that it gets on it. best way for me to get it off is left thumb in the camera hole right thumb in the bottom of the finger print scanner and fingers on the rubber edges on the front.
I think the case is good, better then decent drop protection but the scratches make me sad haha, honestly it was worth getting but I will be searching for a new one simply because I am picky and like different cases for different situations.

Just emailed them to let me know when they are available. I have the otterbox defender and while I usually recommend them, the one for the atrix has issues. I'm on my second outer silicone part, and this one doesn't fit right either. The bottom corners bulge away from the inner plastic part, which makes them come off pretty easy.

The cases happen to be made right here in Fort Lauderdale on the other side of town. I may go get one on Monday. I have the Commuter case which I like, especially since the ports and earphone jack have covers to keep out dust and dirt and the case is easy to get on and off. I dunno if the ballistic has covers and there are no pictures of the front i can find but the design and colors look nice and I am sure the protection is good. Anyone get one yet?
Damn that thing looks thicker then my otterbox defender case. I like the color schemes though. Does it come with a holster? I have to use the holster with my defender case, just to hard putting it in my pocket.

Awesome!
Got my Ballistic SG
Well I recieved my Ballistic SG in the mail today, got it off ebay for $22 bucks! I haven't bought a lot of cases for my Atrix yet, I tried a Otterbox Impact on launch day and was disappointed with that. This case however feels extremely tough, My brother has the Otterbox Commuter, which i thought was awesome untill this one showed up. It feels very solid, The ports on the side are left exposed, as well as the speaker grill. The space for the fingerprint sensor does feel a slight bit cramped when swiping downwards, I may have to re-enter my prints to get it to read more accurately, but for now it doesn't seem to affect it too much. I've only had it for about 30 minutes but so far i'm impressed. The case doesn't slide around on the phone (though that may be in part to my invisible shield). The rubber/silicone layer does attract dust, but overall I'm happy with my purchase. I attached a few pictures if anyone's interested.

Not a bad looking case ya got there... is it rubber or plastic or both?
Edit: so the grey is rubber, red is plastic?
Sent from my Motorola Atrix 4G on the network with the most backhaul, whatever that is. This post might have errors as I hate touchscreen keyboards.
Yeah, the black part is rubber, the red is plastic, with a weird layer of black, that feels like slightly rubberized plastic. After using it for a few hours now I'm still satisfied with it. Definitely feels more solid than my brothers commuter case. Now to wait for the HC to be released and try that sucker out.
Dude, that's freaking sweet looking. Can't wait for the HC cases to be released.

epic !
I like it! May replace my Commuter, even though I couldnt be happier with the OB.
covered ports
I did not buy this case (yet). It looks really similar to the Commuter case as the designs are the same///a soft rubber held on with a hard plastic. However, the ports are not covered on this one. On the commuter both ports are covered in addition to the earphone jack. Someone here reported dust on the inside of the screen and it may have entered thru the earphone jack? On my wish list is a case with a built in stand.
I received an ACTIVE case from Seidio recently and it was for the Motorola Atrix 4G. Well being a case from Seidio, it had to be something good packed in it.
The package was nicely fitted into an average sized package and it contained an instruction pamphlet and the case itself. No pictures here sorry =(. The case is consists of a 2 piece design where the 1st piece is a silicon based glove and a harder backbone would be attached on to the back to strengthen the case.
Here's the case compared to the other cases

(from left: Otterbox Impact, Motorola Atrix, Seidio ACTIVE case, Otterbox Commuter)
Size : The Seidio ACTIVE case had the slimmest appearance among all the other cases and it was the lightest among them too. The Otterbox Impact was the bulkiest followed by the Otterbox Commuter Case.
Looks good!
Closer view on the top section of the ACTIVE case. There is even a small curve at front camera. Nice one there Seidio!
Front View: The Seidio ACTIVE case covers the sides of the Atrix and has a groove to enable users to place the phone face down and would prevent the screen from getting scratched. However, it is noted that there is no protection on the top section of the phone unlike the Otterbox Commuter. I personally preferred the one without because on the Otterbox Commuter, there was a noticeable amount of dust getting stuck at the earpiece and the front camera. Getting them cleaned was a hassle compared to the ACTIVE case which is much easier to clean.
Back view: Back side of the case. It resembles a fish bone type of design and there are hand grips on the sides which gives a nice secure hold when it is held. The finishing on the back section was also a joy to touch as it was slightly rubberised but still strong enough to withstand impacts.
The earphone jack area and finger print scanner had their own openings. As expected, the case is quite a dust magnet but it is negligible as I found it quite easy to wipe it off. I've yet to find a case which does not attract dust at the moment.
The jacks were left exposed as well. Probably this is to reduce the weight of the case and ease accessibility to the ports. Makes plugging the device in and out from the cable easy =). The rubber grip on the back adds extra functionality by preventing the phone from sliding off the table as well.
Here's another shot where the finishing of this case could be much improved. Guessed it is from the molding process.
Final thoughts: The case from Seidio did not fail to impress me. Protection was great as it felt really solid and the fittings were perfect. The looks were pleasant to the eyes and not too large unlike some cases where you would look like carrying a little rock with you. The only thing that I hoped could be improved was the finishing of the product and it could be molded better. Product well worth the $ 29.95 price tag. Blows all the TPU cases or cheap branded silicon cases out of the water.
Nice review!
I take it that it has a silicone feel to it? I hate the texture of the Ottorbox plastic bits, reminds me of nails on a chalkboard.
Yup, very nice review. Case looks nice but I already see hairs sticking to the silicone. Looks nicer than Otterbox though.

Seidio and the Car Dock
Does the Seidio case have to be removed for the phone to be placed into the car dock? I currently have the Body Glove case from AT&T but am looking for something a little different.
Thanks,
JAFO
This case looks pretty nice. Anybody know if they have a store where I can actually pick it up from though?

The harder shell of the case feels like the back of a SE xperia x10. hard but slightly rubbery feel while the other parts feels like the otterbox silicon.

yeah it's a dust magnet..
@jafo5236 , not sure as I do not have the car dock with me
but in the pic the active and the commuter look the same size, yet you said the active is the smallest and the commuter is the second biggest?
am i missing something here? >__<

somehow it looked slimmer when it was placed on the atrix :S
These kinds of cases look too "industrial" for my taste. They seem to serve a purpose if you are putting your phone down in hostile environments but my phone is either in my holster or on my desk next to me.
Does anyone know if this case works with the laptop dock?
I just received this case and I love it. It fits my hands nice and has a great feel to it.

The only two cases I have found that fit in the car dock are
1 - Motorola Ruggedized Battery Door, fits perfect in all docks with the little shim removed.
2 - The butt ugly Body Glove that AT&T sells for way too much money, I bought one too.
I have also tried the Seidio Active, a very nice case with great protection, and the Seidio Surface, preserves some of the slimness of the phone while giving some protection.
I've had this case for a few weeks now. Has anyone who owns one noticed any peeling on the silicone part? At the top of mine is has started to peel a bit. Is this normal?
Edit:
Here's what it looks like. I take good care of the phone too and have never dropped it. This is just from basic use.
Mine sees daily use as a gaming pad for a 3 year old and I've seen no problems.
I have the GLAS.t screen protector on my phone and I was worried about fitment, but I took a shot at it anyway.
The case consists of 2 individual layers: the first is a silicone case, which is just the more casual Trident Perseus, and the 2nd is the polycarbonate addon which turns it into the Kraken. You can use only the silicone layer if you like.
There were no fitment issues with just the silicone layer since it's flexible, but when I added the polycarbonate layer, it became a little tricky because of my thick GLAS.t screen protector. The fit is very tight and it took me a little adjusting to get it to sit well, but it's working well now.
The only gripes I have so far is the cover for the S-pen. Unlike the USB and headphone covers, there are no hinges or anything to secure the S-pen cover to the rest of the case, so it's just left hanging there all loose and free to flap around. You will be able to see it in the pictures. The second gripe I have is the kickstand. It's secured very tightly. Whenever I pop it out, it makes a loud popping sound and it feel like it's going to break off from the case.
Other than those issues, which are minor to me, I'm loving this case! It overall feels hefty and very solid in the hands. This case is huuuuge compared to my Seidio Active. It makes the already huge Galaxy Note even bigger and heavier. This case is not for everyone, but I figure if you are the type that would buy the Kraken, size shouldn't be an issue to you. If you do want the flexibility of going less rugged when you want, you can always just remove the polycarbonate layer.
Here are some pictures I just snapped:

You can clearly see the S-pen cover here:
And here:
Here's the case with just the silicone layer:
Here's one comparing the sizes of the Seidio Active and just the silicone layer of the Trident Kraken. They are about the same thickness and same size, with the Trident just a hair taller.
Here's one comparing the size of the Kraken and the naked Note:
Here's some comparing the thickness of the Kraken and the naked Note:
As you can see, it pretty much doubles the thickness of the phone.

damn it i thought this was perfect case which protects the stylus hope they add some hinges or something
Thanks a lot for pics and review was waiting for this review
can u post some pics with only silicon layer if possible
Do you plan on using that thing as a cannonball? Why so bulky protection :S ?!
With a case like that, I'd expect you're in construction about 500 feet off the floor! lol
Thanks for the thought and many pictures! It certainly helped me arrive at a concrete decision to buy the case. Would you share how thick it was with the outer shell on too?
this reminds me of the ballistic hardcore case i had for my old motorola atrix. that thing could take a drop, accidentally dropped it from the roof, atrix still ran fine, not a single scratch or crack on the atrix, and the case just had a few scratches.
if this case is anything like the ballistic hardcore, it will last you a while.
the only thing i dont like is that it makes the larger galaxy note even larger.
Badass
Amazing. I bet it doesn't even blend.
After a nuclear war there will be 3 things left dust, fog and your phone
Can you let me know how's the protection on the edges. I would really appreciate it
The photos of it on their website make it look like a flat black, but yours looks glossy. Is it because of your flash, or is the hard plastic gloss black?

I think it doubles the thickness of the phone. I'll take some pictures later on combaring the thickness of the phone to the case.

Self defense! God help whoever that tries to mug me! It'd be like chucking a brick at his face!
Seriously though, I love the way rugged cases look. I like to be able to be rough with the phone without worrying about damage, and the large cases provide me a better grip of the phone while using it.

I also had that same case for my Atrix and I loved it. The Kraken is kinda like reversed of the Ballistic HC case. The Ballistic HC case has the silicone layer on the outside while the Kraken has the silicone layer on the inside.

The edges are pretty strong too as it has the silicone layer reinforced by a hard polycarbonate layer.

Ah, all right. Thanks for the reply man. Looking forward to the pictures. Just to be nosey, did you get any of the other attachments for the case too?
My question is actually regarding the Seidio Active Case, how is the case and is it worth going for that case, since i actually like the design more...
If u can post a pic or two it would be highly appreciated with the Seidio case...
Liam Neeson approves this post.
Whats the link to buy it and does it fit the extra large batteries?

+1 to that. Looks great.
Can it be used with the outer skeleton?
