Sound playback issues with 2.2 - Defy General

I have reported problems with playing sound before but it probably got lost in the flood of other posts. Since I have recently found someone mentioning similar problem I am starting this topic to figure out if anyone else found it.
In the Chinese stock Froyo rom whenever I was playing any sounds (mp3/podcasts/last.fm) I was getting clicks from time to time. It was correlated with animations of the GUI - or in other words when I was scrolling emails the sound got more choppy. It irritated me so much that I have gone back to 2.1.
Is anyone experiencing similar issues?

Try Jboogie3's Froyo beta 2 or Clip 2 beta 2!! No problem with the case you mentioned!!

I have the exact same problem using Jboogie3's Froyo beta 2 and it is really annoying

I met the same problem too. I dont think it is related to UI. Sometimes there is click/beep even if I dont touch the phone.
Until I found someone using MS2 facing the same problem. It is not hardware problem. May be there are bugs in TI's decoder.
You can try PowerAMP. It uses its own native library as decoder. The sound is perfect!
Hope this helps.

I run into the same problems with the recently release USA Froyo. It's more of an downgrade than an upgrade!

Same issue. Using Vanilla Froyo (based off China 2.2).
Really REALLY annoying.

It's the same with GB Froyo (117).

Well, if this is the case I really hope they fix it until full release. Would ruin the phone for me

I am not experiencing this problem with the UK Froyo release, nor did I experience it with the Chinese Froyo release or with 2.21.0 or 2.34.1 firmwares.
Have you made any modifications to a default firmware release - de-ODEXing, overclocking/undervolting, a custom theme? Are you running CPU-intensive applications in the background? Are you using a lot of resource-intensive widgets?

[Q]About headphones volume

Hi there!
As you might see, I'm new here, so please kick my ass kindly if this issue has already been discussed (even though I'm pretty sure it didn't, after spending a couple of hours reading tones of threads).
I was kind of disappointed when I unpacked my Desire a week ago, discovering how low the headphones volume was compared to my former iPhone 3G (R.I.P). Fortunately, the froyo update came out a couple of days after, I installed it, hoping it will solve this issue... Obviously, it didn't.
After being able to root my desire (thanks to the downgrading hack ), I started trying a bunch of roms, starting with the Psychosis-1.2 one, and happily discovered that the music was finally as loud as on my iPhone with this rom.
The issue here is that I still get the same low volume problem with other roms (so far, I tried OpenDesire and Pinky (this name should definitely be changed...).
I also tried the NexTSense rom and unsurprisingly, the volume was good on this one as well (unsurprisingly, as Psychosis is based on that rom...).
My question is quite simple: would you know which .apk/.so/.jar could I extract from NexTSense in order to get a decent volume on the rom I will finally hang out with?
Thanks.
No one?
Just tried out the LeeDroid rom, and the volume is also ok with this rom...
LeeDroid does nothing really fancy.
So either your problem is fixed in the new 2.09 official update (and all the custom roms based on that one, like pinky, nextsense, leedroid, modaco r7)
It will for sure NOT be as simple as extracting a single .apk. The volume (and even mp3 decoding and media playback) is not handled by the music player software at all.
So you'll have to look in firmwares, libraries or kernel being used and stuff like that. Not something you easily dive into and rip out if you're new to linux / android developing. It might also be something with the new radio that you probably installed to get the latest leedroid or others running.
For what it's worth, I never noticed (too) low volume on my desire, and tried a lot of ROMs (2.1 official based, 2.2 official based, AOSP, Cyanogen)... never noticed a difference in volume. You sure it isn't some placebo effect?
Yep, 100 percent sure its not a placebo effect, I compared for each Rom the volume on my desire with the one on my former iPhone, using the same song and headphones, and the volume was only at the same level with the Roms I mentioned.
Plus, It's not radio related, as I had this issue with stock sense on both radios, and as I tried all the Roms with the last one...
I'm pretty convinced it's library related, I'll do a comp of the ones dealing with audio and tell you what.

Few seconds delay after incoming calls in some(or all?) Gingerbread ROMs

On Oxygen and GingerVillain setups.
After receiving a call I have to wait 2-3 seconds before other end could hear my hello. It seems that mic is starting to work after few seconds from the beggining of conversation. I've changed differents types of custom kernel from 2.6.35 to 2.6.37 without success. So it seems that it is ROM related problem. Any clues or ideas how to fix it?
Exuse in case of posting to wrong thread )
Me too on cm7.
Just wait for a fix, its a known issue.

I have this as well running Amethyst ROM.
Was this a problem on 2.2 as well, or is it just GB ROMs that have this issue?
Never really noticed it before, but now that you mention it, I noticed this on Amethyst.
Yeah iv like noticed the issue numerous time n its kinda annoying iv even noticed that there is delay in connection when u call up someone on cm7 builds
Yeah I've got the problem too on Amethyst. There's no point reflashing or checking the radio like I've seen some people recommend. Better off just waiting for a fix because a fair few are experiencing it.
I now have this issue with the latest nightly build, but I'd been on an older one build 17 I think, and it wasn't there, dialing & incoming calls had no delay.
Very strange. I guess we'll just have to wait for the fix.
Have seen it too on CM7 build 25.
But I guess it is a known problem.
This problem is very annoing and the big stopper for me to switch to GB.
I hope, there will be fix soon.
Does this problem still exists in the latest Gingerbread ROM's? (Ginger Villain, Oxygen, enz).
If so, will it be fixed with the Nexus One 2.3 OTA update?
Running on GingerVillain 1.1, same problem occurs
Running Redux v1.0.0 and having the same bug
Supposed to be fixed in the OTA
Oxygen 2.0, Devnull-Test, GV 1.2
Delay is still there after N1 libs update. Terrible echo is added also.
Is this ROM, radio, kernel or smth else problem? Any ideas? It is really annoying.
This has been posted over in the Oxygen 2.0 thread

I have fix for that , i can post if you want..
EDIT:
Flash this from recovery http://db.tt/r7ikNsQ
In any problems here is original file (frm Oxygen 2.0) http://db.tt/NDurkxU
This helped me, so no echo during calls.

It replaces proprietory firmware for bcm4329 module to Froyo one. This module is aware of GSM, Wifi, BT and other kind of network magic.
This fix doesn't work for me indeed. This could be affected by different revisions of hardware chip inside. May be couldn't, hard to say. We don't have source codes for that.
It is said in Oxygen thread that the most effective way is to say hello after two seconds after beginning of a call. But no flashable zip for it )))))
People end up putting the call down on me more often than not. It's really unneeded. I had the "terrible echo" on Oxygen builds too but it's far less pronounced on CM7 RC1. This one is actually useable.
I installed the OTA of Gingerbread and i'm having this issue ... Is it an apps causing that problem or is it gingerbread causing it... I don't know but i'm having this issue ... When I answer a call, people doesn't ear me in the first 3 (2-3 seconds)
Is there a bug open @ google ?
*** EDIT *** I own a Nexus One ... So, it's not only with "Desire"
Think this has been fixed for GingerVillain 1.3, there's flashable mods from the GV steup that deal with this

[Q] ICS Screen Tearing

So I did found some similar threads about this but none is actually answering my question.
Two days ago I flashed my Xperia Arc (for the first time) with custom rom. It was KA12 and then KA13 (based on ICS beta release). Since then, im noticing screen tearing when watching a video (taken by devices camera) with any video program and slight tearing while browsing (scrolling) thru menus. I tried kernel provided in the thread and DooM's ICS BETA kernel v04 with the same results.
Since im new here, I cant post directly in the related thread so im forced to ask here and hope to get some answers.
So is this happening to anyone using same rom or is it just me?
I'm also noticing some skipping while watching videos (again taken by phone's camera) but I think that's the issue of still immature ICS (the videos are fine on the PC). Or is it something else?
Don't know is it relevant but I would also like to point out that I flashed .64 baseband provided by the maker of the rom witch is apparently for Xperia Neo and everything works fine (except for the mentioned problems of course ).
P.S.
Sorry for my bad English and probably noobish questions but im still new to all this modding and such...

Main thing is that you are running beta ROM and there could be problems with it.
Searching in ROM's thread might help with that graphical issue.

Looks like that was the case, beta. I changed my rom to KA14 (based on leaked ICS) and tearing and skipping are gone now.
I'm having some other issues now but that's not related to this topic now.
Tnx again!

Any bugs in the stock CappyGlide ICS ROM?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1841502
Similar to the other thread where you post the bugs in the ICS leak, are there any in the stock ROM that was just posted today? I'm very interested, but I don't wanna go too far if it's riddled with issues.
I have gathered that the keyboard isn't backlit, but is there anything else that isn't functioning properly?
I think the CWMR ROM posted is just a repack of the same ROM, so any bugs present in the original leaked ROM would be present. Cant speak for everyone but other than the keyboard backlight, ICS is running great for me. I had a battery drain issue but it appears to have resolved itself.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but what came out today is the same ROM, just in a different format. Be patient, people are working on improving it, and the official version should come out soon as well. CM9 or 10 isn't in the too distant future as well, I'm guessing we'll have it by Thanksgiving.
I gave up using it, because I had constant crashes (not actual crashes, the system was still running, ie Pandora kept playing but the UI stopped responding) and I got molasses slow wifi. Most people have reported no wifi issues, however.
OK, that's quite alright. Thanks for the reply.

The thread i posted today is the exact same as the original post about the stock ICS, i just made this one flashable. Also i havent had any problems with it other than the backlit keyboard. Im making a debloated one ATM so you can look foward to that with a couple of tweaks.

[Help]Sonic 2 Running too fast?!

i am currently trying to play Sonic 2 game form the market on XPLAY HONAMIv2.1.4 ICS ROM but for some weird reason the game is running in fast motion I'ts like theirs no frame limiter on or something. i goggled this issue and it seems its common but no one seems to know how to fix it or why it occurs. on most ics roms this issue does not happen but here it does. i dont want to change my rom i want to fix this. my only thought could be something to do with the video card drivers/config.
