Same for all the shops...damn!
Yep, just got a reply now from Handtec.co.uk (what are they doing up at this time!):
"Thank you for your email,
The HTC Desire sim free release date has now been slightly postponed, this is in response to confirmation from HTC that the release of this product will not be the previously mentioned 29th March but will be anytime between now and the 7th April,
I do apologise for this delay however this will not only affect Handtec however will affect all UK retailers as this has been imposed by HTC directly, however once the stock arrives we will promptly dispatch the goods,
Please advise if we can assist you further."
Damn.
That's funny, then how has mine been despatched by T-Mobile and they actually have them in?
Or is this just the retail / sim free units?
That's very upsetting! It's on their website now, too.
I thought the same, but their response to me made reference to sim free versions being delayed. No idea why this would be. Gutted really.
I got an e-mail from T-Mobile, saying mine has already shipped.
Supposedly it should reach me tomorrow (Saturday).
Clove sent me an email this afternoon too saying more or less the same thing. They emphasized that the unlocked/sim free version is delayed though, that's probably why the T-Mobile ones are shipping out no problem. Just a guess about that last one though.

Yeah I got the same from Clove back to the 7th
A little annoying but I will just have to put up with the hd2 for another week or so I guess. Cant complain to much.. Just returned to its original release date. Also received the mail from Clove at about half 5-6ish..
I guess it goes to show the pushing power the networks have when they want the hardware to go to them first.
That the main thing that frustrates me... I'm willing to pay £400 for the device but have to wait an extra week or so for the pleasure. Ahhh well I'm sure I will live..
Now I have nothing to look forward to...besides Easter egg hunting bwahaha
(Anyone like Peeps?)
Yeah I hope the first shipment is bigger than expected. I ordered mine from Clove and they already told me that mine will be shipped from the second lot. That was supposed to be on 2nd April (3 days later) so I will probably have to wait until the 10th to get mine shipped
Still, it's nice of them to keep us informed. Many places I have pre-ordered from in the past (particularly from Hong Kong) just keep you in the dark when due-dates change. That is the reason I won't deal with Expansys any more (not to mention their over-inflated prices).
Well, to those of you who went the carrier route, I think you're obligated to get reviews up IMMEDIATELY so those of us who are waiting have something to look at
Does anyone know if HTC provided a reason for the delay? If it's to fix a bug I'm more than happy to wait a little longer...
Allegedly, the Desire ROM failed Google testing - and the Big T fixed the issue quicker: www-coolsmartphone-com/news5645.html
Sorry, with a join date back in 2008 I'm a new user and must not use links ;-)
I'm from Belgium and here the shops have announced the 6th of April as release date although at some point they were mentioning 1st or 2nd of April...
Not a big deal, will wait one more week
Pretty annoying. Was getting really excited already, now gotta wait a whole lot longer. As I only recently pre ordered may be even longer till I get it....
It's weird!
Expansys UK and UAE are saying that they will have it in 4 days aka April 1...
Could they have pre-release stock like T-mobile?
When I heard about this on Saturday I was gutted and immediately assumed that HTC were putting the network carriers ahead of their direct customers, but if the Coolsmartphone report is correct then all is forgiven and I'd rather wait and let the HTC engineers work their magic.
From reading the posts on here of issues found by T-mobile folks who have received their phones already then it appears to me that they are mirroring the issues that were reported of early Desire ROMs, and if these are fixed in the phone I eventually receive then I'll be a contented bunny. In fact I'd even give HTC a big thumbs up to have the "spuds" to risk upsetting their fanbase by delaying launch to ensure that those of us forking out the full ~£400 for the Desire receive the best quality product possible.
However with people reporting issues, so unnerving me about the phone I'm going to get, and others saying it's fab so turning me green with envy, I might just have to give these forums a miss for the next week or so to keep my sanity!
Can someone tell me why you cannot organize and even more important, have actual copies of your apps locally (on your home computer)?
I unfortunately own the lemon known as the Dell Venue Pro. I am now on my third one. And inbetween each return for defective items (the phone sucks in basic terms), an app in which I PURCHASED was removed from the marketplace (once by Microsoft and once by the developer). When the first phone went back, the Xbox Live game 'something' Blade (I forget the title of the side way shooter starring the psycho nun and the zombies) was removed from the marketplace. I had purchased it days before the unit crashed and was barely able to use it. While I was waiting for the new phone, the game was taken of the marketplace. Once I got the working phone, there was no way to reinstall or retrieve the app, since you are not allowed to own a copy locally. Microsoft had pulled the app due to content (game was not inappropriate at all compared to some of the others).
The second time I recieved a new phone was Thursday and the defective phone went back immediately. When I went to reinstall my apps (had to make a list of what I bought because I am not allowed to have them LOCALLY), to my suprise the developer of Doodle God removed it, to my best guess because they came out with almost the same game in Doodle Devil. So after pulling the game I contacted the developer and they pretty much told me that Doodle Devil is almost the same game and I could purchase that. What kind of crap is this?
So can someone explain why in all hell we are not allowed to locally organize and even more important OWN any of the apps we purchase. Essentially Doodle Devil seems to be an addon at best. So anytime a company wants to boost their sales of addons, all they have to do is delete their original app that many bought, and hope that if those original customers have since deleted them from their phone and will have to repurchase the "new version" if they want to use it again? This is ridiculous.

I feel for ya. That sounds very crappy...and a way MS seems to do business, as well. If the dev told you to buy the new version of the game you bought because of them deleting the old version, I would file suit with someone or demand they compensate me. My mouth would not cease till they resolved it. Fortunately I haven't purchased Doodle God or Doodle Devil. And I won't now.
I woke up this morning and tried to buy the slew of 10 cent apps, but I cannot purchase anything and most of the pages just don't load. Every time I try to buy something it tells me there is an error processing my purchase. Just wondering if anyone else is having the same issue or if it's just my new G Nexus thats acting up.
It's not the phone. Even if you try to buy from market.android.com from a computer it is saying the same thing.
Guess these problems have likely to do with the millions of users who want to download all the cheapos.

Pretty much what I'm thinking too many people hammering the servers . Figured google would handle this better but perhaps they weren't excepting it to be this demanding. I was able to purchase Need for Speed Shift and install, it but Spirit HD says this: You have already purchased this item and the order is still being processed. If you'd like, you can check your order status at anytime. :/(EDIT: just went through woo)
and when i go to check it (goes to google wallet) it doesn't show anything woo lol.. oh well the day isn't over yet guess just try to make your purchases and eventually they will go through
And I made the purchased on the site, android market app was giving me those error processing errors too.
Most of them are throwing a dollar app these days.
- Sent from Android Mobile
Something like this but even worse happened to some guy in a German forum. He purchased SwiftKey and they refused his order five hours later and now the price is up to normal again. :-D
As all interesting apps are already have been bought earlier I can deal with these market issues pretty good.
Hope there'll come out some more breakers in the next days.
Yea Market is misbehaving. I'm trying to buy some of those $.10 apps on sale today and it keeps erroring out. I did manage to buy one, but it won't download. Tried on my Transformer and market.android.com
I managed to buy 5-6 of them, but now I'm having the same issues... even on the computer won't work
If it is an issue with authorizing/processing purchases, that would be a Google Checkout/Google Wallet issue, not a Market issue.
Had issues, but it seems to work for me now.
I thought I was alone...
Hi,
I sent my phone to HTC for repair as the screen was yellow and had poor battery life
they changed the screen and the battery and its amazing now
there are no yellow spots and it works like a charm
the battery lasts 1.50 days dispite heavy use
for those having issues please send it to HTC.
If u send it back to your retailer for an exchange u are not guaranteed to get a phone without an issue, screen especially whereas sending the phone to HTC they make sure there are no issues after a repair they have done a good job and Im really happy with the phone now
8 years I buy HTC phones and have very good experience with them.
Only once I had a issue with my phone, they picked up and returned the machine fixed in 3 days.
htc will fix/replace your device if it has yellow spots?
100% its called Mura. Tell them and they will replace the lcd and u wont face the issue ever again as it s a known issue
Mine had this issue mainly and the new screen rocks
they are easier to deal with then apple... i will never buy another apple product mainly because of their customer service...

Thats odd, I had an ipod touch a few years back and my experience at the time was really positive. I had a problem and scheduled a visit online, went down to the local mall and gave it to them, they swapped it out for me. I've never had that good of an experience with anything else I own. Of course, that was the only new apple product I've ever had, so maybe regular apple users have a different experience, dunno.
I also have sent my HTC off for repairs (to some place in houston). It wasn't the screen, I had a problem with my mobile data that all but stopped working indoors and barely worked outdoors. I'll see how that goes. They did tell me that if they need any parts, it will cost me $20 because my One X is from france, whatever that means. Its really sad though, I don't really have any other usable android devices at the moment so I'm stuck using my work's blackberry while I wait. I hate that thing, I feel like i've gone back to the 90's.
That's very strange they ask $ 20 for it because HTC warrantee is worldwide.
The phone they fixed for me that time was a HTC Artemis P3300 from the US and I live in Holland. They didn't charge anything.

Screenshot of the usage and display time please. Otherwise I think you have the same battery everyone else has...
Also Stock unrooted phone I believe? If so can perfectly compare with my usage.

Yeah, they said because I live in the US and I purchased a phone from france and the repair place is in the US they would need to special order parts. Who knows. I'm actually a little concerned since they mistyped my email address (luckily I got the email anyway since I own the domain) on the rma info and even though they received the device on wednesday (according to the post office), there have been no updates to the website that they've received or are repairing it. So... I'll have to call them again and see what happened.
There is something to be said to buying devices directly from a local carrier.

I sent mine off to HTC too in the UK. They picked it up on Wednesday, Thursday evening it was showing as device received on their repair tracking.
Today afternoon it is showing as in repair.... :\ hopefully i get it middle of this week as i have no phone to use whatsoever. hopefully they will fix my yellow spot, i think the gorilla glass was not sitting properly on the LCD. as when i pressed it slightly it was gone.

Better luck than me... My phone was delivered on the 13th but never made it to 'received'. I now have an escalation ticket into HTC to find it. It took a few calls to them for them to even care that my phone was missing, they just kept saying that the repair place was probably behind. I then had to call them for an escalation ticket, then had to call a few days later to re-do the escalation ticket because the last guy didn't do it properly, then a call a few days later to get someone assigned to the escalation ticket. I'm now at the few days mark again, so I'll have to call again on monday and can hardly wait to hear the response this time.
I couldn't use the blackberry any longer, so I spent the other night screwing with my old captivate to at least get it working again so I'm not living in the dark ages anymore.
So, after a bunch more calls back and forth, they finally found my phone. At which point it sat for a couple more weeks while they ordered parts. Then they called back with the bad news. Apparently they can't order the parts because it's an international phone and due to copyright laws (supposedly) they can't ship the parts it needs overseas. The only options are to 1) return the phone, 2) send the phone to HTC France or 3) Replace the phone with an AT&T One-X. Obviously #1 is out. #3 isn't a great choice either, because the AT&T isn't as good as the International version, and so I discussed #2 with them. #2 apparently is only an option if I have a French shipping address, which obviously I don't. So, I'm pretty much out of options.
I think I may just take them up on replacing it with the AT&T one, and since it's new, I'll just ebay it and take the money to -mostly- pay for the S3. I really liked the One-x, but I don't want the limitations it already has (SD & Battery) combined with the more severe limitations of the AT&T version (dual core, 16gb storage - I can't use LTE so that's not a benefit).
Luckily my captivate has been holding up during this whole fiasco, but It's really on it's last legs.

It happened to someone else too. It's not parts, it's this...
BarryH_GEG said:
This makes sense but not for the reasons given. The U.S. One X's have the "app picker" disabled; users have to pre-set an event in settings for a single action to occur when clicking on a link in an app. Those sold outside the U.S. present a list of apps to choose from each time you click on a link just as every other Android device. Making sure the U.S. versions didn't have this feature enabled therefore violating Apple's patent is what held them up at customs. HTC U.S. restoring that feature, even on an international device, would be in violation of the patent. So if they had to replace the motherboard they couldn't load the international s/w on it and they have no alternative ROM with the feature disabled that runs on Teg3.

Great, thanks for that explanation. I didn't really understand and I don't think the HTC guy knew or was able to explain it either.
So, this is one of the post where a "user" rants!
Well, I am a software engineer, bought a defy this august thinking that it will be a cool experience after samsung galaxy ace got messed in rain.
I needed something robust. Well, then i invested in defy.
Phone went fine till september when it started giving issue with data cable, never detected my PC. 22nd October i gave it to service center.
Amazingly they give it to me after 2 months on 13 december, Well, better late than never as they say. I happily went back with my phone. Next day in office phone starts rebooting at random and my 3g signal just looks like barely coming in. Tested sim card on a galaxy and network was good. After a lot of research turns out that hardware is faulty, though earlier my phone used to be amazing at 3g.
While checking hardware turns out to be IMEI is different than what i gave and i was not even notified when receiving. Great move. Never mind, called back customer care again and they ask for minimum 20+ days time. Which is again great.
Thought of selling it to shop for atleast 60 USD or roughly 3000 INR. Bought it for 13000 INR. The shopkeeper says that box and bill has a different IMEI and he cant buy it for me, unless its free.
Just dropped motorola a mail
"So, here is my introduction.
I am a customer who buys a defy in august. A month later the usb starts giving an issue, in october i give it to service center, and in december first week i get it back. 2 months? really? and when i take it back to home, turns out that IMEI is different, and my phone just randomly reboots now. Alright, you guys gonna fix.. but well guess what, Service says 20+ days expected time... really? After all this i really wanted to go for a consumer court case, but i really pity how the things are being handled. You want my IMEI.. but which IMEI? thanks to you guys i have TWO IMEIs .. Point of my mail is not to get a solution, coz after all these months i know motorola wont have a solution for me. But Just saying that stay this way and whatever is left of in India .. of present or the future.. none willl ever trust motorola. Know the worst thing? I cant even sell my phone as my box and bill has a different IMEI. Thanks a lot motorola."
I have all valid ground to sue them, but dont want to. Rather i cant. I dont have time to get into this, as i start at morning 8 for office and its usually late when im back. Instead of getting 13000 Rs handset refunded, while loosing thousands a day by not being involved in office doesnt sound fair. Rather taking it as an "accident" that i stumbled across motorola.
Purpose of mail : NOTHING...
Just felt like ranting a bit. Nothing more, am right now sitting in my room with a sony xperia J. Nice display and good battery (though not amazing hardware but am an adventurer, not a power user, I need battery). For performance i use my laptop
While the time i was here in defy community it was good. Enjoyed a lot of custom roms. Quarx's and walter79's work always amazed me.
Anyways, time to switch to xperia community now.
Seems unbelievable that you got two faulty devices in a row... Me and my brother have both got DEFY+'s and both are working perfectly fine (never had battery drops on any ROM, come alone some bigger failure). So... I don't know, I'm just sorry that you had such a bad experience when Moto's are one of the most endurable phones (not talking just about the DEFY's now). In my experience and knowledge they are at least.
Oh, nevermind, I don't want to turn this into a Moto-fans vs others thread, just saying
I'm glad that you've enjoyed our community!
yeah, quite unlucky of me, but more bad was the service they gave to me. Got defy plus after a lot of research and reviews from actual owners. But seriously, motorola needs to learn. If the thing doesn't get sold, i can use it as a navigator (doesnt reboot when data is off) and fix it on my motorcycle.
It's so unlucky man. Because Defy is such a 'slave' mobile phone that you can put it to hell and can see it's still working. I'm using Defy for more than 1 year now and you don't know how roughly I'm using it. I'm from the southern part of India and you can guess the lifestyle here. This mobile has survived the dusty climate of Tamil Nadu, the pouring monsoon of Kerala and my software experiments with this poor soul, oh my god if not Defy, it would have screamed! I have tested every custom ROMs available for Defy here and it hasn't shown any rejection to any of them whatsoever. No problems with any of the hardware including speakers, display etc. In fact I'm going to try another ROM just after posting this. :cyclops: It is such a reliable machine and what happened to you may be one in a million.
well, all I want to say I would to love to take up your case against the company
I'll take up this one for free just for you all you need to do is sit back and give me the details i'll handle rest of it
P.S: I'll take 40% of of the compensation awarded
This thread goes to nowhere.
