Flash DHD back to stock ROM - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
Since i have rooted (S-OFF'd) and flashed my phone with the LeeDroid ROM my phone keeps turning off on its own. I know its not the ROM that is at fault, as i have flashed it to another DHD and it works fine.
Is there anyway i can flash the original ROM back onto my phone?
Also is there a way i can un-root my phone and turn off S-OFF?
Thanks

download the correct WWE RUU and run it, that will revert your phone back to stock and you can start again.
Good Luck,
Blinky

[Q] Stuck on boot screen-tried all usual tricks!

Hi guys, I'm at the end of my tether now!
My phone kept rebooting when using Navigation yesterday, then after the 3rd time it has just been stuck on the HTC boot screen and nothing will fix it.
I can't even get into recovery, so I cant do a nandroid restore.
I have been using Leedroid 2.2e with no problems before this.
I have tried flashing the latest RUU but because I had the latest Froyo already installed it wont work as it needs to be an older version on the phone.
I cant downgrade Froyo to an older version as I cant get into the phone to turn on USB debugging.
I have only had the phone 2 weeks, please help if possible.
If you use the 2.10.405.2 or 2.29.405.2 RUUs they should flash with no issues. Might be worth extracting out the ROM.zip from the RUU, rename it PB99IMG.zip, copy it to the sd card and go into HBOOT and it should revert back to stock (assuming it can read the card)
I tried flashing the 2.10.405.2 RUU but it fails halfway with a Customer ID error, and I know the goldcard is good so I thought it must be failing the check for older software version.
I also tried renaming and flashing the rom from the card, but the phone read the file and a progress bar went up the right hand side of the screen, then nothing, it just stopped.
I'm not really clued up on these things, but I have been doing a lot of reading on various forums.
Hey EddyOS, thanks for the heads up on the 2.29.405.2 RUU, that was what I needed to flash over my current rom.
All back and running now, after being up all night trying to fix it.
I'm scared to root and put a custom rom on now in case it happens again and I have to send it in for a warranty repair, that was my biggest worry.
Thanks again!

downgrade hboot

I can't seem to find it on the dev forums but there was a one click batch file that could take your desire back down to 0.83 again.
It was packaged as debrand.zip and did all the adb commands for you, can anyone give me a link to the forum posting?
Just curious, but why do I see a lot of threads about people who want to downgrade their Hboot? I don't understand the advantage of it.
Why do you need to go back?
my phone is fubar'd I need to get the original stock ROM onto it and using the executable from shipped ROMS doesn't work as it can't overwrite the boot loader.
I need to get a previous version of HBOOT onto the device so that the stock ROM can flash itself.
What stock ROM you trying to go back to?
O2 UK pre froyo.
Then i'm sending it back becuase the damn thing is acting up like a trouble child on crack. Random reboots to the HTC logo and 5 vibrates, freezing on any other ROM I try while downloading more than 1 app on the market.
You don't need to go back, just flash the stock o2 FroYo ROM...get it from shipped-roms

[Q] Returning Phone to Stock?

I had a few questions about returning my phone to stock. I am going to have to bring it in since the charger is not working properly any more.
But to do this. I know I need to flash stock rom too my phone. Not sure where they are located. But how do I remove the root and recovery mode from my phone?
Your best bet would be to download the stock RUU, I think its in the stickies, you need to run it on your pc. I did it not too long ago and it brought my evo back to 'out of the box' condition
How did you unroot? If you ran unrevoked you will need to download their s-on tool and flash that before your run the stock RUU or else you will keep your s-off.
Shipped Roms can be found here

unroot guide that worked for me here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141&highlight=shipped+roms
So. I havent removed the foot ( didnt use the unrevoked forever so it is just the second method on that page) but whenever I try to use the RUU it fails. Says my device is not plugged in.
Any ideas on how to do it without using a RUU? Could I just flash a stock rom and then remove the root??
Are you running the ruu from your computer or are you putting it on your sd card and flashing through recovery? Its not going to work from your comp because your plug is fried right? You're going to have to put the ruu on your sd card and flash from there to get back to stock.
If you're convinced it's a charger, why not just have them swap the charger out. Seems like an awful lot of work if that's really the only issue...

[Q] Installing Orange stock rom caused phone to become unrooted?

Hey well i've been experiancing echo's on leedroid and I didn't know if it was a hardware fault so I backed up to CM7 and it echoed so I instead installed the stock orange rom. This went smoothly, however now recovery doesn't work so I downloaded rom manager to reinstall recovery and it says I don't have permissions.
Some how my phone has become rooted again by installing the orange rom. Is this normal?
:EDIT:
Just checked and it's S-ON again :O.
Nvm, just found another thread and this is normal.
Question - Does this mean I have to unlock my phone from orange agian? Or am I at least unbranded? The gold card stuff was a pain!

Every stock ROM makes the phone unrooted,
You have to follow the rooting procedure again to make it root.
If it on Gingerbread, first you have to downgrade, before make it permanent root.

[SOLVED] Back to stock

Hi!
I'm having several issues with my DHD, one of them being that suddenly, for no reason, I can only boot in HBOOT...
That's why I need to send my phone back to warranty, and therefore to get it completely back to stock, and I have a few questions I'd like to ask before I start messing with my phone :
_If I flash an RUU, I assume my phone will be back to stock firmware and radio?
_How do I remove CWM?
_I'm not sure if I'm radio S-OFF, how do I know it and how to set it back to S-ON?
_I currently have SuperCID (1111111 or something like that), how to set it back to normal?
_Most important of all, if I flash an RUU, will I still be able to flash the original HBOOT?
Many thanks in advance!
PS: I know that there are already many threads about how to get back to stock, but I'm pretty sure none of them answer all of the above questions.
All you have to do is install from pc using RUU with exe(not zip from sd card) so that you don't have to worry about anything. Simply connect to pc and run exe..done.
Using the RUU also removes anything custom. ENG-S-OFF CWM etc will be gone. You will have to do the downgrade and root process over.

Not really, He'll still have Radio S-Off, so he'll be able to downgrade with an earlier version RUU without having to temproot.
I've just flashed the 1.32.405.6 RUU and everything is working fine. Thanks for the fast replies !
