[HELP] A2SD+ issue - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Im using LeeDroids 1.4.1 Rom and i flashed the a2sd+ patch that he released. It worked fine until i tried to restore a backup.
I made a backup before flashing MIUI rom to extract stuff from it and when i restored the leedroid rom none of the apps that are on the sd-ext partion show. I wiped everything before each flash. I searched for help in leedroids thread but no one had a solution except from start again. Over 200 of my apps got moved to the partition so i dont want to start again.
I searched google and xda for a solution but none of them worked for me.
Is there any way i can get the apps to show or extract the apps from the backup so i can use them again?

Which ROM with apps2sd+?

I have currently got a R1 rom with apps2sd on it but would like a ROM with apps2sd+ to save internal memory.
I have narrowed it down to 2 roms,
Pays-ROM Desire Sense v1.6 Dalvik+A2SD (RockSolid)+(BraveSoul OC)[05/19/10]
or
17/May r3 - MoDaCo Custom ROM
Im not to sure which one to go for. The requirements im after is obviously apps2sd+ and is the most similar to the standard HTD desre ROM.
Thanks,
Depending on the options you choose in the kitchen you can get the Modaco ROM to be pretty much the same as HTC Sense. I'm running a r3 MCR with A2SD+ and ADW Launcher on top and everything's running great.
Will changing the ROM wipe everything from the phone or will it still be there?
Finally, when installing the ROM with a2sd+, will it move the dalvik cache automatically to the SD or will i have to do it?
It's definetly recommended to do a FULL wipe before flashing a ROM. Just be as thorough as you can possibly be to avoid issues or even just having to flash again. Don't want to scare you but some people did brick their USB port while flashing. How this exactly happens isn't really clear but i always just do that bit extra to avoid issues.
So, you can use titanium backup to backup all your apps+appdata and also systemdata, then in recovery you can also do a nandroid backup which will backup your full system.
If flash is succesfull you can restore your backups with titanium backup again. Don't try to restore HTC stuff when it's not included in the new ROM.
If flashing is not succesful or you encounter to many issues you can always restore your nandroid backup. I tried to make a nandroid+ext partition backup but that didn't work somehow so i always just copy the whole card to my pc before doing anything.

Virus Kingdom Sense 3.0 Rom

Sorry I can't post to the dev forum. I'm a long time lurker here, and flash roms quite regularly.
I wiped my EVO, then used the Virus Superwipe and ran that 3 times. Then installed the Virus Kingdom 1.1.2 rom (which superwipes again).
However once I get everything up and running, all my apps that I had installed on CM7 nightly 74 just prior to wiping are showing up...they are all working as far as I can tell, I just am wondering why the apps are all there?
Are you storing those apps on the sd card in either an apps2sd partition or the android_secure folder? If so it's possible that those weren't wiped when you wiped the phone.
Thats why I really can't figure it out. I complete wiped my SD card when I installed as well. It's very weird, never seen this happen before.
You have to wipe the partition separately, I could be wrong but I believe that the superwipe does not perform that wipe. If I am incorrect someone please say something. If you did do that as a separate action the only thing I can think is that if you signed in to Google at the initial boot setup then it autosynced your apps like it was supposed to. Love that feature BTW, just wish it happened every time, way more stable than tb and faster than astro
App back up and restore was implemented in froyo. Cm7 being an aosp based rom uses it. Sense 3.0 is the first version of scense to use the backup function well. When you sign into gmail on a new Rom it should restore your apps that were backed up on the prior Rom.

+1....also recheck to make sure you got all of them or the ones you want because you'll get partial restores if you use the phone while the market is doing its thing
Like Trav said apps being restored is suppose to happen, but make sure everything is wiped atleast twice..data/dalvik/cache/any partition. Try using Calks format zip, it worked for me
yes that is correct, you do have to do the wipe on the sd-ext as well, superwipe will not do this one for you!
ROM has great potential but MANY issues for me. Running b1.1.2 waiting impatiently for 1.3

[Q] Google services framework stopped after nandroid restore.

Hi,
After rooting and trying some ROM's out i wanted to go back to an 'old' ROM from which I had a nandroid backup. It went smooth the first time but the second time I got a error saying that Google services framework stopped working.
Only the stock app worked and none of my other installed apps did.
I couldn't even open the settings menu nor could i open Titanium backup.
I then reflashed the ROM and manually copied some TB backup folders but lost all other data.
Someone has an idea about this?

Apps missing after restoring the backed up rom... ;(

Hello all,
I had installed XperiaMod 6 also had install many apps on the same. I had taken the backup through CWM yesterday. Today I thought of using the latest TEAM Rom.. So I flashed it.. but I didnt like it that much and thought of restoring the previous backed up XperiaMod rom. I restored the rom using CWM but now I see many installed apps are missing including the launcher I had used.. I restored the rom twice but had no success... What might have gone wrong??
I think I had moved some apps to /System/apps from /data/apps and that might have created the problem.. Anyway, I have reinstalled all the apps again.. so no issues now.. Mods can delete this thread..

Hi
is he on the stock rom? odexed or de-odexed? what rom version?
For a quick fix i would recommend flashing this rom via clockworkmod recovery, as it is fairly stock and already rooted. Ensure that your friend makes a full nandroid backup first, then wipe everything, except the sdcard, and then flash the rom afetr placing it onto the root of the sdcard. like he must have done to root. then, after the rom has booted up and is working with his sim card i recommend downloading this app here and use this to restore heir contacts, and sms ect. NOTE: only restore data apps, and not system apps at there may be conflicts! good luck pal.
