I know they are different from phone to phone and if you flash the wimax.img from an old evo you will lose your 4g so it its something off the phone

Yea what he said....
Using my HTC Evo phone which I'm using Xda app to post

I think that they have to be base of the serial number and probably computer generated to your phone .

So they ARE phone specific? I'm getting a new phone because my camera is broken. Is there any point in holding on to my old wimax.img so that those working (I think, no 4g in Detroit) keys could be used on another phone? Maybe for someone who torched theirs.

Are you returning the old phone when you get your new one? When a phone is returned the RSA keys are deactivated .....

Broken Wimax

I have seemed to be missing my wimax rsa keys. I am not good with pushing codes and do not have a back up of my wimax. They musst have broke when I flashed the lastest version on the radios. What would happen if I flashed them again? would this fix it or no?
If you lost your wimax key and didn't back up, you my friend are up **** creek.

How is there no way of getting them back?
No each key is device specific, so if you lost them with no back up they're gone forever.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
If its gone its done, because each key is unique to each phone.
What you COULD do is the following, another user tried this, but I don't know the outcome, and you try it at your own risk:
Get another wimax.img from another user, call like sprint tech support, give them your phone information and see if they will give you the wimax key, then try changing the key in the wimax.img.
That's just nonsense haha... Good thing I don't live in an area getting 4g anytime soon

[Q] Unrooting Evo

My wife recently dropped her phone and has to send it in to get replaced, so now we need to unroot it. I went through all the steps of unrooting to get s-on which it now is. The only problem was when I tried to reinstall the PC36IMG.zip file it says the version is to old and cannot install. I was wondering if anyone has the link to the NON ROOTED OTA PC36IMG.zip. Or I am wondering if she downloads and flashes the update.zip file if it would it delete the superuser app??
Please help
From what I've seen on here, when it comes to physical damage to your phone, Sprint no longer cares if you're rooted, only if you brick the phone will they not honor the warranty.

Not true for me at least (Boston area). My phone randomly reboots and the usb is broken so I couldn't unroot so I took it to Sprint and they said its against policy to work on rooted phones

They have already sent her a replacement phone. I am not worried about that. I just want to return the phone without any questions being asked.

They wont care, when they refurbish the phone they are gonna update the software anyway and totally wipe your phone, erasing whatever you had on there

I would go to a different Sprint store, your phone being rooted has nothing to do with your USB port being crappy, same thing happened to my USB port, I took my phone in, explained my phone wouldn't charge (by then my battery was drained) they went to the back and brought me out a replacement. The USB is a known issue with the evo they should have replaced your phone

Yeah the fat b**** in the back of the store that repairs the phones wouldn't even touch my phone when she heard it was rooted... and when I did unroot she gave a time of 2 hours just to clear storage on the phone even though I said I already did that. On top of that they said a replacement would be available over night... two days ago. Now I'm stuck waiting

So I guess it vary from store to store. I think my store might be cool. Actually one of the techs there taught me how to unlock my old palm pre. Oh and my usb port is starting to go. Does anyone know how it might work out if you just "lost" your phone?

definitely a good question!
i haven't dealt with refurbished EVOs before. they wouldn't happen to have supplied a box with the serial number on that?
i wonder if the serial number is listed in the software somewhere .. . perhaps you could ask in revolutionary's irc channel or tweet at alpharevx ?
the only other thought i had was to double check their guide to see if they mention this issue, but they don't list any method to bypass the serial check in the beta version. they do mention the stable release will not require a serial number. i'm sure the devs themselves should be able to provide a solution unless somebody else on here knows how else to obtain the serial number through the software.
i have a feeling the serial number isn't easy to obtain through software on purpose as HTC prob doesn't want people exposing this as I'd imagine they use it internally, potentially for warranty coverage/issues. sorry i don't have a better answer.
You can just download and run revolutionary.exe and read the s/n from the program. Then enter it to get the key.
Sent using Tapatalk from my EVO
I'll try that
Sent from my Evo 4G using XDA Premium App
I kinda wish that they would have just created an app similar to z4root to get S-off if possible
Sent from my Evo 4G using XDA Premium App
This is their "beta" test version, as all the bugs are worked out, in the official release it won't ask for a s/n.

[Q] [Help] I have lost my phone, any tips in wiping it remotely or finding it?

Hi, i have lost my phone, believe its stolen. Is it possible for me to remotely wipe data or logout my facebook and google?
Anyway to locate it through GPS?

Change all your passwords at least; it won't log you out but if whoever has it tries to access your account(s) it should ask them for the new password instead of just opening straight up.

Your phone can be track through your phone's IMEI number. Just complaint about your lost phone to a police station or to the phone's company. No matter if a person change your lost phone's SIM card, your phone will located through IMEI number.

You have to report as stolen they will give a crime number then go to your network they will block the phone, will never be able to connect to a mobile network.

Depends where you are. In the UK it's standard practice (report a phone stolen to your provider and they'll blacklist the IMEI so it can't be used on a mobile network). In the US I think it's less standard and will depend on your carrier. Elsewhere in the world I've no idea. It's something they can do, you'd have to check whether yours does.
I bet almost any phone carrier will try to track your phone through its IMEI

[Q] Is my ESN bad?

Back in January, I made a post asking about my SGS2 and why it wouldn't turn on. I didn't figure it out so I bought a SGS2 with a cracked screen and replaced my mainboard with it's. The eBay post said that the ESN was clean. I brought it to a Sprint Store to try and activate it but they said it doesn't show up in their system.
I don't think this phone was ever flashed. When I started it up, it brought me to a locked homescreen with a low-resolution wallpaper set and the ROM was still stock. I went into recovery and wiped the data. When I finally got into the phone, I found pictures of a some teenage girl who looked like she couldn't tell a Galaxy S from a Nokia.
So none of this makes sense to me. Is there any chance that this phone will activate?
Thanks in advance!
Maybe it was stolen from a shipment? Idk, that's odd that it didn't show up in the system.

The last owner had it activated fine. Her number is still in the phone and under Network it says "Sprint". The person working at the Sprint Store put in a ticket. Is it possible that they will just replace it?

Doubtful. Let us know what happens.
Something just doesn't sound right about that situation. If the phone did have a clean ESN then there would be no problem getting it activated. I have a feeling the ESN came back with a red flag and the Sprint representative didn't want to tell you.

You mention in Op that you swapped mainboards, could that carry over Sprint?
Where you on Sprint?
Could phone be a Virgin or T-Mobile variant.? With Sprint flavor?

Nope, I used a mainboard from an Epic 4G Touch. The DEC and HEX numbers I used were from the replacement mainboard.

I did not use the info from my original Epic that wouldn't start.
So the conflict or confusion the phone is having may be caused by this board.
If not mistaken, all the info Sprint looks for as far as there system id'ing should be coming from mainboard.

Means your mainboard - while it says SPH-D710 on the back - may not have been in the Sprint ESN pool.
For example, Boost, Virgin, KDDI, etc. all have separate ESN pools and while they say you can port I have had issues with it.
Does the sticker on the board show SPH-D710 still?
And does the MEID on the sticker match what's on your screen?

I'm not sure and I really don't want to disassemble the thing unless I absolutely have to. I really can't afford to accidentally mess it up and, knowing my luck, something will happen. What I can tell you it that the HEX and DEC under Status in the phone's settings match the sticker that's under the battery and that sticker says D710. When I pull down the notification bar, it says that it's connected to Sprint and the old owner's info is still in the phone. Her e-mail was ********@sprintpcs.com.
So basically, if what you're saying is true, Sprint can actually fix this issue?
EDIT: I did pull it apart and check the board. It does say SPH-D710.

Is that it? Well in that case Sprint should have no problems clearing it for me.
Nope. If the previous owner owes sprint money or the device was reported stolen, the ESN is bad and as far as I know there is no chance of clearing it.
