Hi new to the forums but have found them incredibly useful so far. Noticed a couple of weeks back an issue with my WiFi hotspot app where when it is turned on (with mobile data already enabled and working) it claims there is no network availability on the app and my laptop is unable to access the internet through it despite being connected wirelessly.
Strangely enough I can still access mobile data through the internet app whilst its running. I found I could solve this by turning mobile data on and off whilst the wifi hotspot is active and then disconnect/reconnect my laptop and it will work perfectly fine. The app will say connected to mobile internet. Intruigingly if I turn the mobile data off in settings and turn wifi hotspot on, I can access the internet on the phone but it will initially come up with the "connection failed" pop up and then continue to load the page, despite not apparently being connected.
It's no deal breaker but not sure if anyone has experienced this issue yet, anyone found a fix?
I got same problem dunno realy what is problem was working good then it just startet turning off my mobile network any fix for this ?
I had the same problem. Im using an app called 'Wifi Tether' and it works fine and its alot quicker, your phone needs to be rooted though.

Everything appeared to go well. I installed Fresh rom. However now when I setup my Phone for Sprint wifi hotspot everything is perfect, until I actually connect to the wireless connection. I am able to connect, but it keeps trying to identify, seems like it never receives an IP address and as a result although I am connected to Sprint Wifi Hotspot (confirmed on the device) the computer is never able to connect to the internet.
Strangely, the Wireless Tether app (free tethering) works fine. I would use this but it seems like it lag spikes more often than the Sprint app.
Appreciate any advice you might have!!! Really miss my internet! haha
Hi,
Since i've had the One X i've had nothing but problems with tethering. I've tried wifi, bluetooth and USB. All seem to suffer from the same problem.
The problem being that the phone will have a working mobile internet connection (I can use the phone to talk to the internet without problem) but my netbook cannot talk to the internet. The problem is definitely not with my netbook or the connectivity between the phone and the netbook as I can ping the phones IP address just fine.
It's almost like when tether is enabled some sort of forwarding or bridging between wifi/bluetooth/usb and mobile internet should be enabled but isn't being.
Then, totally randomly, it will just start working fine.
Sometimes disconnecting mobile internet and reconnecting fixes it. Sometimes enabling airplane mode and then disabling it fixes it. But most of the time I literally have to just wait until the phone decides to start forwarding my packcets to the internet.
I travel by train to/from work and used to tether my HTC Desire using wifi or usb. It would generally be useable for the whole journey except when I lost signal entirely or when the phone switched between Orange and T-Mobile whilst I was in the middle of something.
I guess my main questions are:
Is anyone else having this problem?
Can anyone think of a way I can try to debug what's happening?
Does anyone have a possible solution?
Thanks

Try resetting your APN setting back to default. This should fix the issue. You may have to do this everytime at OTA update is applied.
Hi there guy's and gal's
I have and odd one I have not encountered before. I have 2 wireless connections at home and when I connect to wifi 1 the phone tells me there is no connection to the internet via that AP.
Yet when I connect to wifi 2 it does not give the same message.
I have turned off the feature "warn when no internet connection"
When I connect via either wifi with mobile data turned off I do get internet, I know there is internet there so I am at a loss why the phone gives me the message saying no internet when there clearly is.
Any ideas on this or should I just live with it and keep the warning message about there being an Internet connection turned off.
I am running the stock firmware and the handset is not rooted. Is as it came to me from factory.
Thanks in advance.

I use my Mobile Hotspot to tether my Nexus 7 tablet in my car. I am running 5.0.1 Lollipop.
As soon as I turn the car off, the Mobile Hotspot turns off and the WiFi is turned on again. The phone will connect to my home wireless hotspot but there is no data tranfer.
Instagram says "Can't refresh feed" and Chrome cannot connect to the web.
In order to fix the problem I usually need to restart the device and then it will connect to WiFi will full connectivity again.
Any ideas?
Is my Mobile Hotspot locking something up in Android, like the MAC Address or IP Address or something until I reboot?
I've come across a quick fix I suppose. If I follow the steps below then I don't need to reboot the device to get the WiFi to work again:
1) Turn off Wifi before enabling Mobile Hotspot
2) Enable Mobile Spot
3) Turn off Mobile Hotspot when finished with it
4) Manually re-enable WiFi once Hotspot is off
Seems the issue stems from keeping the WiFi on when enabling the Mobile Hotspot. The Note 4 will automatically disable WiFi and re-enable WiFi on it's own if you do not manually disable the WiFi beforehand thus leading to the no internet connection issue.
Still curious what the actual issue is though.
UPDATE 10/14/2015: Seems as though the method I described above does not even work as a foolproof method for getting the WiFi to work properly again after hotspotting. Reboot is the only way to get it to work again. It's very temperamental.
I have been experiencing this same issue. I didn't link it to turning the mobile hotspot on and off until you mentioned it. I also have to reboot the phone to make Wi-Fi work again.

I have a problem on my Redmi 7. Since it has Hard reset, the mobile hotspot isn't stabilized. Sometimes i touch my phone and do something for a moment, the hotspot connection to my laptop lost their connection and the internet not accesible, but my phone's internet still working. The funny thing is the hotspot connection on my laptop with my phone hotspot are still connected. I have to do so many ways to fix this problem, even on my laptop but all that things aren't solved my problem. Please help.
