Why is my gallery cache always 0 when I look at Gallery in the "Manage Applications"? Isn't it suppose to create a cache for quicker use?
gallery create inside your photo/images folder another subfolder named .thumbnails which contain all thumbnails of your photo resized for preview.
or you can see some cache inside /sdcard/Android/data/com.cooliris.media/cache/jires image i think.

make a file called ".nomedia" in the folders you dont want to be caught by gallery.
then clear the cache of the gallery app

Hi!
For first - sorry for my english
My steps to restore backup:
1. Full wipe, clear cache/dalvik itd
2. Restore backup.
SGS3 wake up All it's ok (apps/settings etc) but when in try open gallery (images from camera) images dissapear.
In first moment, when I open Gallery I have "old" list (from backup) of images, but I can't open this.
I try copy images by USB, but folder "DCIM" is empty. Folder is on the internal memory, on the ex-SD i have "clockworkmod" and "LOST.DIR" folders.
I think that images from camera are saveing in internal memory, so why I can't restore them?
Thanks for help!
You might have some images cached in the Gallery app, and that might be why you see them on the app, but cant open them.
If you want them gone, go to Settings/Application manager/All tab. Select Gallery and click Clear Data button. This will clear the cache of the app.
If you had photos on the SD card, they should be there on the DCIM folder. Be sure to check external card.
I had photos on internal memory (DCIM folder), I'm sure of that. I did backup and now, when I want restore this backup I can't open my photos
After restore folder DCIM is empty. On the phone, when I open Gallery, I have list of restored photos but this list dissapear in some of seconds.
For some reason, when saving an MMS attachment it will not show up in the Gallery. It saves to the internal storage as normal, but for whatever reason the Gallery isn't picking up the folder and displaying the image that was just saved. I didn't see a way to refresh the Gallery or direct it pick up that folder. When saving the image it doesn't give you an option to select the folder you want, it just autosaves to the internal "Downloads" folder. I tried clearing the cache on the Gallery, reinserting the SD card to see if it would read and refresh but still no luck. Any ideas?

There are a lot of images in folder com.sgiggle.production which belong to Tango application. These small images are always show in my stock gallery. I do not want to see these small images in my gallery then I deleted folder com.sgiggle.production and all images were disappeared from gallery. But after reboot, these images were showed again.
I am on Ommi 4.4 with stock kernel.

put a .nomedia file in the same folder and clear your gallery data. This will prevent the system from scanning that folder for images.
.nomedia file solved my issue. Thank you very much.
can this directory be deleted to save space or will this wipe the actual photos from the gallery?
thanks

It can be deleted (the contents of this folder, not the folder itself) but thumbnails would be re-created. It might still be good to delete it from time to time since it might contain "orphaned" thumbs....
