Ok this is the third time I've had to retype this! Ugh I hate bootloops but I love gingerbread ... anyways there's a lot to ask ok now are there any optimizations I could do to my phone or ps3 to get a more stable/fast connection? Here's another, are we ever going to get upnp or is there a way yet to change Nat type? Which is better for tethering aosp, or sense/senseless. any kernel addons that help this at all? Should I stay with wireless tether or maybe something else like the tethering that comes with a rom. I'm wanting ANY feedback that may be helpfully even for Xbox live which shouldnt be to much different but it may be, so yea anything you have to say that could help would be appreciated

hey guys i need some help. it would be awesome if you guys can help out. ok my htc fuze gets wifi signal pretty good, better then my psp at least. and i have a psp and i like to do some online gaming. well my router is all the way on the other side of my house and my room is on the other side. so my psp does not connect very well to my router,, but my fuze does. so i was wondering if any of you guys could make a program that is kinda like "wifi router" that uses your data plan and gives of wifi. but instead uses a wifi signal and brings it closer to you somehow. i hope i made sense to some of you developers.
please try and help,,thanks
well that would be quiet complicated, or maybe even impossible ...
But you could use a Windows 7 Laptop with Virtual WiFi to archieve that. Here is a link to that: http://www.istartedsomething.com/20...e-virtual-wifi-technology-microsoft-research/
awwww man. i only have vista :/
i have the upgrade cd but first i have to fix my laptop
are yousure its complicated?????????????
I tried to play online game on my pc using the internet sharing from my Touch Pro2, but I got an error that said I am behind a firewall. Any solution for this? I tried using wifi rounter in the rom, didn't work either.
what game? does it require port forwarding? it shouldnt complain that you are behind a firewall. but you will be on an att lan so theres no way to get around this anyways.

Since I have updated to 4.2.+ i am not able to connect my xbox to my tether program. ( i pay for the tethering from verizon, just saying for those who wish to flame about tether) I use the built in tethering on the Gnex and All other devices , connect, PS3, Wii U, N7 etc.... except the 360.
Has anyone had this problem and been able to solve it?
Thank you

that actually sounds like your xbox compatibility issue instead of the android issue, afterall your other devices connects no problem.
I have the same problem!! I am running a stock rooted 4.1 rom , and it tethers great.. if I update to any ROM 4.2.X I can not tether my Xbox!! Everything else works great.. I can not figure it out. Its not the Xbox its something to do with 4.2.X.

I'm going on vacation soon, where free wired(ethernet) internet is common, but not wi-fi. So I wish to use my phone as a broadcaster.
After doing some reading, it appears ethernet-to-microUSB cables exist and can work for this function, but it depends on whether the phone/manufacturer included drivers for this.
So can our HOX do this? Would also like to know if anyone have any prior experiences, any difficulties with setting up or configuring etc.
Hi I know this sounds like a broad idea so ill get straight to the point.
I have a front door lock. I will lickley be getting the August lock or a Kevo. I have wireless lights and a NEST thermostat in the house also, the idea is that I want to create one app to control all my home wireless devices. I might use a rasberry pie which would act as some sort of repeater to link all my IR, RF, Wireless, devices to the Internet so I can use the app from anywhere in the world.
Is this possible? How difficult?
I found a device that can act as the controller to all the individual things in the house and links them to the internet however it uses its own app. any way to override the app with my own design?
Thanks!
Yes it is possible
We used to have a college thesis like this one back in the day. One solution that I can think of right now is you need to have the following:
1. Google App Engine to host a web app that connect your phone and a computer in your home
2. A custom mobile app that will communicate with the web app.
3. A computer / rasberry pi that will query the web app to know which switch to turn on / off. You'll need a USB relay to connect the computer with an appliance or a light bulb.
These are the three things I would start if I was to build one again. Good luck
Hey thanks for the reply.
That is reassuring. I will be communicating wirelessly to the lights however ( or the dimmable wall switch I should say).but that's the least of my concerns.
The main part is what you discussed. Any ideas how much I would need to pay someone to make the app? At there templates? I have some friend who are fantastic programmers however they have not touched apps b4.

No idea how much for the custom app but it cost me about 100 dollars (hardware and software) when I was in college to build the whole thing. Back then I only used SMS to communicate and not the internet. It would be fun building it your self.
If you want a ready made one, there are available ones in the market, and it would cost you about $50. Try searching for Belkin WeMo switch
