Is this possible? Or am I going to have to reroot it and try again?
I'm trying to set my friend's incredible back to stock but I encountered errors when trying to apply unrevoked's s-on zip (it wouldn't mount the sd in cw recovery). So I just applied the pb31img.zip and now it's unrooted but still s-off
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
You'll just have to flash a custom recovery, like CWM and get it to flash the s-on zip. Then flash the PB31IMG.zip again.
Edit: Make sure the sdcard it formated FAT32.
Thanks for the reply. I formatted it several times and it still wasn't recognized. Even after booting the phone up it still won't recognize it under settings > sd and storage

Have you tried another card?
Check dougpiston.com
He has a step by step process to do it. Confirmed because I've done it with my phone.
Yea I got the steps and the files I need, I guess I'll have to try my sd from my dx on it when I get home (after I back it up, of course lol). Thanks for the help, fellas!
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
you must be rooted with a custom recovery to achieve s-on,
I got 'er... reran unrevoked, used my sd from my dx, installed the s-on zip, ran the pb31img.zip (which worked with the old sd card, strangely), and it's good to go. Thanks again guys!

I have no clue what has hapened. I have my phone for some days and today I rooted my phone. After that I made my SD able for Apps2SD and in the end I thought of flashing the Radio. Something happened and now my phone gets stuck on the white screen with the HTC green letters. I don't know what to do. I reflashed with the some radio, reflashed with an older radio, searched on USB Bricked phone but from what I understand a USB bricked phone has nothing to do with my situation because you can actually start a USB bricked phone. I am so desperate and I have no clue what to do. PLEASE HELP!!!
Does it boot into bootloader mode?
Just do a factory reset and wipe cache if you can enter the recovery and ofc flash a rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Yes it loads in bootloader mode and in recovery. I have tried to wipe the cache and to do a factory reset. Nothing worked.
Tried a new rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Trying now, but the thing is that I didn't touch anything on the rom.
What exactly did you flash? Radio? Kernel?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Mmm this sounds familiar.... you have to do a wipe for the ext partition in your sd card, try to power on without sd
I had this exact same issue when I made an EXT4 partition for Apps2SD. Despite the fact that the kernel in MCR, and the UVOC kernels apparently support EXT4, if you have an EXT4 formatted card, it won't boot. Format the Apps2SD partition back to EXT2 or EXT3 and it should work.
Also, you need the FAT32 partition at the beginning of the card, and the EXT partition at the end.
Tried powering on without the sd, no luck. The problem was created when flashing the Radio. I downloaded the official WWE ROM but in what mode should I bee for the installation to get the required information to continue?? Bootloader, fastboot, or recovery???
Get the rom.zip file from the update, and put it onto the root of your SD card named as PB99IMG.zip, and then boot into bootloader mode, with volume down and power. The phone should automatically detect the presence of the zip file and prompt you to flash it.
Did you try my other tip about formatting the A2SD partition?
I put it ni fastboot mode and it was recognized through the USB so new ROM is on its way and about the App2SD I tried to boot without the card to see if its that and it would still not boot
Guys that was fast... My phone is BACK!!! THANX EVERYONE... YOU ARE AWESOME!! One last question... now that I flashed with the original ROM does it mean it has been unrooted???
Most rooted roms have a superuser apk pre-installed.. have a check in the menu.

Probably. I'd recommend you download the latest R6 risk free root from Modaco, it's far less likely to give you issues like that, as it omits the steps that caused the potential bricks.

Exactly what I did but still after trying to update the radio through the rooted phone my Desire was dead
An update to what has happened.
So, I have installed the original ROM " RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2 _release_126984_signed.exe" and have managed to get my phone back.
And then I rooted it again using the prementioned R6 risk free root from Modaco and all was OK. I turned it on and everything was fine. The, I wanted to push the Apps2SD and I followed the steps and then the phone wouldn't start again. (The SD was wiped cleaned just to be sure it was not a matter of the SD).
I did this 2 times to replicate the results and see where it actually gets stuck. So, I concluded that putting the Apps2SD to the rooted ROM of Modaco doesn't work.
Am I correct or am I doing something terribly wrong and I don't know about it???
HI there
i have the same problem like it switch on and white screen with htc logo while updating maybe i made something wrong\, this guide will work for m i think but can someone explain in detail cos i am not good in computer programing and zip and other things i really appreciate if some one help me in understanding language

I`v got the same problem with Desire. Where can I this "rom.zip" file ?
My phone-brand 2.2 froyo - rooted.
I was trying to unlock a friends evo with the v1.47 OTA - not Froyo. I used the simple root 1 click method. Everything seemed to work fine but when I tried to flash a new rom it is stuck a the boot screen. I can get to the recovery but I do not have a nand backup or the pc36img.zip on the sd card. Any suggestions?
Is there a way I can get my computer to recognize the phone and push the pc36img.zip file?
Did you wipe everything before flashing? That's a big cause to bootloop issues. Try doing a full wipe and then flash again.

I did wipe using clockworkmod, but will try again and let you know.

omg I'm stupid. I just pulled the sd card and loaded the pc36img.zip file back on.
Hi,
I am having some real problems with my Desire. I was using T-Mod (Leedroid) but thought I'd try out the RCMix ROM this arvo so I did all my backups and a Nandroid backup. I was using CWM 2.5.0.7 and this was fine before but I tried to flash RCMix on and it didn't work. I then tried to upgrade CWM to 3.2.0.8 unsuccessfully. I even tried upgrading from ext3 to ext4 and I formatted my 16GB SD card but that didn't help either.
I have not been able to upgrade anything yet and my phone will not even boot up stock. It is not letting me do any installs of zips, it says no files found and it won't let me do any Nandroid restores either.
So I am stuck with a useless phone that I can't even temporarily use because it won't boot past the Telstra boot screen. I can only get into bootloader and recovery. I have wiped everything but can't get anything to work. I am S-ON.
Can anybody help me? I'm at a loss and have been googling and trying things for hours upon hours tonight. It would be great just to even get back to stock....
Format your SD card (copy content to PC first!), go to fastboot and then try RUU from Telstra...
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using Tapatalk
The Telstra RUU didn't work because it's too old. I'm downloading the downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 right now, so I'll try that and see what happens.
Any ideas why CWM can't see the zip files on my sd card?
Corrupted data perhaps...? Try formating your sd (all partitions - if any ext3/4) and rebuild your partitions... It should work...by your intel, it must be an sd card problem, have you tried another one...?
Sent from my cool Desire
I tried formatting it a few times. I tried both ext3 and also ext4 but it still couldn't see the zip files. I also formatted the FAT32 part. I used Gparted to do it with the FAT32 partition at the left and ext3/4 on the right. I tried it at 2GB but it didn't like it so I tried 1.8GB and then it recognised the ext3/4 part but still can't see the zip files.
Just finished downloading the downgrade so will try that now.
Perhaps something is wrong with my sdcard..?
The downgrade failed but I've managed to flash RCMix on with a different 2GB sdcard. I have tried to use the other card again but CWM still can't find any files on it for some reason. Gparted is also not loading it anymore so perhaps that 16GB sdcard is dead. Looks like I'm going to need to buy a new 16GB sdcard so I can store my music on there again as 1GB is being used for the ext3 partition.
Does this sound about right, that the sdcard is dead?
I can still use and access it in windows, it just won't work on the phone.
I found that if the cards file system is on the way out cwm nicely wipes it for me. If after several formats its the same, it may well be a dead card
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yeah ok, I've formatted it numerous times and it still won't read any zips. I wasted so much time when all I had to do was use another sdcard....sucks so much.
Also how do I permanently upgrade CWM from 2.5.0.7? I have to keep fake flashing 3.2.0.8 at the moment.
I was thinking when I get my new sdcard that I'll try and do S-OFF. Is it worth it? Should I bother?
Oh god yeah. Fake flash has so many flaws. S-off and fastboot flash recovery.img. see fastboot faq in my signature
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ok thanks, I'll try S-OFF and flash a new recovery.img when I get a new sdcard.
Which version of CWM is best to use? I was going to use 3.2.0.8 because that's what was said to use with RCMix.
I use 5.0.2.0 for some time now and I haven't had any problems at all.

ok thanks, I'll try that version then.
Do I need to download recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.zip or recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-bravo.img ??
.img to fastboot flash it. I prefer 2.5.0.7 myself

Cool thanks. I can't use 2.5.0.7 though as apparently it won't work well with the ROM I'm using.

And why not? You get errors?
I did have some issues but never mind all that now. I bought a new 16gb card today and am now S-OFF thanks to the revolutionary method and have flashed cwm 5.0.2.0, a new splash img and boot animation. Now to set up the rest of my phone. I'm a happy chappy!
I'm having some major trouble with my Evo. I tried flashing from Classic v005 finale to v006 and I wiped everything 3 times. Now, I'm stuck in hboot and my recovery won't start. i have a PC36IMG file (TWRP 2) in my sdcard and says it updates but it really isn't. When I try to restart the phone, I get pushed back into fastboot. What can I do to fix my phone?
Twrp2 may have perm bricked your phone its done it to quite a few ppl hope you have ins cuz you'll need to flash a stock ruu thru hboot and send it in for replacement
ok. how do i push an ruu if i can't boot?
You'll have to put it on root of SD as a pc36img and boot to hboot/bootloader and run the update it should put your hboot back to a stock version so u can return it twrp2 had issues for several ppl and bricked their phones
Edit: does your hboot mysteriously say s-on now?
No, it doesn't. I might be screwed though because the only thing my computer sees when I plug in is the bootloader interface. Won't pick up the sdcard
try flashing a RUU for your phone and then Amon Ra recovery
Sounds like twrp2 borked it some ppl had s-on after but the not reading the phone on USB is a pretty sure sign twrp2 bricked it it was causing problems with bad blocks or something during the flash not sure what exactly it did to the phones but they were unrecoverable afterwards it screwed something up that wouldn't allow it to rewrite to the internal memory or be recognized by fastboot commands or adb

I've never used an RUU, but I believe it's an .exe file. I think you can run it from your PC while plugged into fastboot......from what I've seen posted over the years.
Until someone more knowledgeable gets back to you. Or if you have a SD card reader, do pc36img method, as was mentioned.

Try downloading shipped rom zip file. Load it on your root. Use a card reader if phone won't connect to PC. If it works you should still be s off. Just flash you custom rom back over it after you reflash a new recovery. I use amon.3.11.
See if that will work.
Shipped zip will over write recovery and should fix your problem.
ok I ran an ruu.exe so it's bootable now but I'm still getting random reboots and I can't mount my sdcard. any ideas?
It's broke. Call sprint they'll replace it with or without insurance. If your s-on running stock they won't know that you're rooted. Also sometimes stores will replace it as well. Be prepared to possibly get a upgrade for the phone.

Did you flash a new recovery?
If so, wipe everything.
Try mounting via recovery.
Does it mount SD there?
You may try to partition your card again and see if that helps.
Did you already wipe and try custom rom again?

It will still be s off even after running ruu I think.
To get s on you will need to flash s on before you take it back.
I would try to partition SD or wipe and flash new rom after amon recovery.
When I run the Factory Resets in Amon RA, it skips over everything on the sd card, saying, "E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1". The phone seems fried to me. Luckily, I have the insurance. lol, "oops I dropped it in the sink"
That sux twrp2 was a pretty neat looking recovery I'm glad I read about it after I installed it and had several failed backup attempts cuz I don't have ins so luckily I didn't attempt to proceed with flashing anything or I'd be in the same boat as you up the same creek only I wouldn't have a paddle lol
When will people check the TWRP thread and realize its a bad product ? Great idea, bad product.
Edit: I mean even after installing twrp, when will they check back to see it's hosed, before they get hosed?. This isn't a comment about you, OP. Just meant, too bad there's not a way to let all users of it know to change recoveries IMMEDIATELY.
sent from xda app on drews ics
After the backup failed twice I figured something was wrong since I had already backed up the same setup in amon ra just fine
If you ran the RUU, then either your SD Card is bad, or you're back to stock, so just take it to Sprint
Hi all... Never tried this before but I am trying to upgrade to the latest Radio (20.10). After flashing the Radio.zip and rebooting to complete installation, I get this not enough space error (So fast I couldn't get the exact words).
I Nandroided, wiped data to get more space but still got same error.
BTW, I used CWM 2.5.01 as recommended.
Help would be highly appreciated.
I had the exact same problem.
I had mtd partitions, so i removed it by flashing the recovery from the Hboot, then rebooted to recovery, flashed radio, booted the phone, then went back to recovery to get my mtd partitions back.
If you don't have mtd partitions then sorry i can't help.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk 2
Was thinking bout that too... I have MTD partitions... Imma flash that now. Thanks.
-EDIT-
Err... Sorry, how do you flash recovery from HBOOT please?
It's very simple.
I'm away grom home right now. So I'll upload the recovery when i go back home.
You will put the file I'll give you in the root of the SDcard, boot to the bootloader, it will scan for the file automatically, then it will install.
Tell me which CWM version do you want?
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using Tapatalk 2
As lo2ay said, just download the .zip file found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566677, put it on your SD card (on the root, not inside any folders) and just boot into the hboot.
use the link nejc121 wrote to get CWM version 5.0.2.8 which is the latest one
if you want another version refer to the second post in the complete wildfire index found here
