I have no clue what has hapened. I have my phone for some days and today I rooted my phone. After that I made my SD able for Apps2SD and in the end I thought of flashing the Radio. Something happened and now my phone gets stuck on the white screen with the HTC green letters. I don't know what to do. I reflashed with the some radio, reflashed with an older radio, searched on USB Bricked phone but from what I understand a USB bricked phone has nothing to do with my situation because you can actually start a USB bricked phone. I am so desperate and I have no clue what to do. PLEASE HELP!!!
Does it boot into bootloader mode?
Just do a factory reset and wipe cache if you can enter the recovery and ofc flash a rom.

Yes it loads in bootloader mode and in recovery. I have tried to wipe the cache and to do a factory reset. Nothing worked.
Tried a new rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Trying now, but the thing is that I didn't touch anything on the rom.
What exactly did you flash? Radio? Kernel?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Mmm this sounds familiar.... you have to do a wipe for the ext partition in your sd card, try to power on without sd
I had this exact same issue when I made an EXT4 partition for Apps2SD. Despite the fact that the kernel in MCR, and the UVOC kernels apparently support EXT4, if you have an EXT4 formatted card, it won't boot. Format the Apps2SD partition back to EXT2 or EXT3 and it should work.
Also, you need the FAT32 partition at the beginning of the card, and the EXT partition at the end.
Tried powering on without the sd, no luck. The problem was created when flashing the Radio. I downloaded the official WWE ROM but in what mode should I bee for the installation to get the required information to continue?? Bootloader, fastboot, or recovery???
Get the rom.zip file from the update, and put it onto the root of your SD card named as PB99IMG.zip, and then boot into bootloader mode, with volume down and power. The phone should automatically detect the presence of the zip file and prompt you to flash it.
Did you try my other tip about formatting the A2SD partition?
I put it ni fastboot mode and it was recognized through the USB so new ROM is on its way and about the App2SD I tried to boot without the card to see if its that and it would still not boot
Guys that was fast... My phone is BACK!!! THANX EVERYONE... YOU ARE AWESOME!! One last question... now that I flashed with the original ROM does it mean it has been unrooted???
Most rooted roms have a superuser apk pre-installed.. have a check in the menu.

Probably. I'd recommend you download the latest R6 risk free root from Modaco, it's far less likely to give you issues like that, as it omits the steps that caused the potential bricks.

Exactly what I did but still after trying to update the radio through the rooted phone my Desire was dead
An update to what has happened.
So, I have installed the original ROM " RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2 _release_126984_signed.exe" and have managed to get my phone back.
And then I rooted it again using the prementioned R6 risk free root from Modaco and all was OK. I turned it on and everything was fine. The, I wanted to push the Apps2SD and I followed the steps and then the phone wouldn't start again. (The SD was wiped cleaned just to be sure it was not a matter of the SD).
I did this 2 times to replicate the results and see where it actually gets stuck. So, I concluded that putting the Apps2SD to the rooted ROM of Modaco doesn't work.
Am I correct or am I doing something terribly wrong and I don't know about it???

Without SDcard it starts loading the system but the loading is a never ending loop.
Tried to format SD with fakeflash, dosent help
Tried reflashing my rom with wipe and everything, dosent help

yes that would be why

you should have thought about it.
only thing I can think of is trying to flash a official HTC RUU update so you will get back to stock and will have to re-root.
If you have wiped everything and re-flashed then I dont know what else to suggest.

Yeah, I guess that its my best chance. Do you know which files that has to be on the SD for fake-flash and where I can find them?
just need the update.zip on the root of the card.
Have u tryed using AM recovery?
If u load it like the clockwork recovery u can partiotion your sd-card in recovery mode,
works every time for me ;-)
http://www.multiupload.com/61STV8CPHL <-- fake flash version just like clockwork but whit partitioning options.

Yes that could work, if the ROM you have flashed requires a ext partition, it will boot loop if you dont have a SD card in. So use clockwork to re-partition the card with a ext.

Im on DeFrost right now, does it require ext? I have to find a micro sd reader then I get right on partitioning.
Edit: I've been thinking if this don't work. Is it possible for someone to make an image of their full rom so that I can try and flash that? Because what I've understood the ones that are up for downloading e.g. DeFrost are not 100% complete.
Maybe some developer know's what could cause a boot loop so I (with some help) could make a flash containing just those files.
u can also try booting recovery, mount SD-USB..
remove update.zip from your root sd.
Place the file i posted above in your root (rename to update.zip ofc's)
Restart phone and enter recovery again (now u get a new recovery) go to partition menu and repartition your SD.
I loooove this forum! Thanks for all the help people, reformat the sd solved my problem. Thanks a thousand times!
Hopefully someone can help me here.
I started the whole root/flash process and got here:
I did all the steps all but one, I forgot to put the radio.zip file onto the sd card and now I am already in the Clockwork Recovery Mode (green and black screen) I have done all steps right up until flash Radio.zip. Have no idea what I should do now. I have cleaned cache and data/factory reset.
What should I do since I cannot flash radio.zip?
HTC Desire
Have you flashed your rom yet?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Okay guys thanks for the response but managed to get help and basically mounted sd card through Clockworkmod Recovery Mode and copied radio.zip over then refreshed via the advanced settings and away we go with flashing rom, wooohhooooo
Cheers all.
You could've flashed the ROM and then turned the phone off, copied the radio and flashed that. Also, depending on the ROM, it shuld boot up with the wrong radio anyway - just might not work properly!!
Hi,
I am having some real problems with my Desire. I was using T-Mod (Leedroid) but thought I'd try out the RCMix ROM this arvo so I did all my backups and a Nandroid backup. I was using CWM 2.5.0.7 and this was fine before but I tried to flash RCMix on and it didn't work. I then tried to upgrade CWM to 3.2.0.8 unsuccessfully. I even tried upgrading from ext3 to ext4 and I formatted my 16GB SD card but that didn't help either.
I have not been able to upgrade anything yet and my phone will not even boot up stock. It is not letting me do any installs of zips, it says no files found and it won't let me do any Nandroid restores either.
So I am stuck with a useless phone that I can't even temporarily use because it won't boot past the Telstra boot screen. I can only get into bootloader and recovery. I have wiped everything but can't get anything to work. I am S-ON.
Can anybody help me? I'm at a loss and have been googling and trying things for hours upon hours tonight. It would be great just to even get back to stock....
Format your SD card (copy content to PC first!), go to fastboot and then try RUU from Telstra...
Sent from my HTC Flyer P510e using Tapatalk
The Telstra RUU didn't work because it's too old. I'm downloading the downgrade from 2.2 to 2.1 right now, so I'll try that and see what happens.
Any ideas why CWM can't see the zip files on my sd card?
Corrupted data perhaps...? Try formating your sd (all partitions - if any ext3/4) and rebuild your partitions... It should work...by your intel, it must be an sd card problem, have you tried another one...?
Sent from my cool Desire
I tried formatting it a few times. I tried both ext3 and also ext4 but it still couldn't see the zip files. I also formatted the FAT32 part. I used Gparted to do it with the FAT32 partition at the left and ext3/4 on the right. I tried it at 2GB but it didn't like it so I tried 1.8GB and then it recognised the ext3/4 part but still can't see the zip files.
Just finished downloading the downgrade so will try that now.
Perhaps something is wrong with my sdcard..?
The downgrade failed but I've managed to flash RCMix on with a different 2GB sdcard. I have tried to use the other card again but CWM still can't find any files on it for some reason. Gparted is also not loading it anymore so perhaps that 16GB sdcard is dead. Looks like I'm going to need to buy a new 16GB sdcard so I can store my music on there again as 1GB is being used for the ext3 partition.
Does this sound about right, that the sdcard is dead?
I can still use and access it in windows, it just won't work on the phone.
I found that if the cards file system is on the way out cwm nicely wipes it for me. If after several formats its the same, it may well be a dead card
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yeah ok, I've formatted it numerous times and it still won't read any zips. I wasted so much time when all I had to do was use another sdcard....sucks so much.
Also how do I permanently upgrade CWM from 2.5.0.7? I have to keep fake flashing 3.2.0.8 at the moment.
I was thinking when I get my new sdcard that I'll try and do S-OFF. Is it worth it? Should I bother?
Oh god yeah. Fake flash has so many flaws. S-off and fastboot flash recovery.img. see fastboot faq in my signature
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
ok thanks, I'll try S-OFF and flash a new recovery.img when I get a new sdcard.
Which version of CWM is best to use? I was going to use 3.2.0.8 because that's what was said to use with RCMix.
I use 5.0.2.0 for some time now and I haven't had any problems at all.

I did have some issues but never mind all that now. I bought a new 16gb card today and am now S-OFF thanks to the revolutionary method and have flashed cwm 5.0.2.0, a new splash img and boot animation. Now to set up the rest of my phone. I'm a happy chappy!
Hi everybody,
I like other people have had memory limitation issues with my HTC Desire.
Done everything including root, s-off, partitioned sd card.I am now trying to upgrade to CM 7.1, the final step hopefully!!!
Note:I am currently using stock 2.3.3
Currently have CM 7.1 downloaded on computer and going to install....BUT every instruction I see requires me to have rom manager/ clockworkmod recovery. However, I can't install these because ''this app can't be installed in your country''. unfortunately used to this.
So does anyone by chance have any links to instructions or have instructions of how I can install this without downloading any apps, hopefully an idiot proof version.(Not worried about saving a recovery etc....phone is basically blank.)
Thanks in advance for any help.
Kind Regards,
rkdeane
Put it on your SD card. Flash from recovery. See the CM wiki.
Recovery has nothing to do with Market.

So i looked on CM wiki but it wasn't clear to me.I have c/pasted what i saw below.
-By theme to they mean rom, bc didn't see any rom instructions.
-When it says copy to the root of my sd card, can i just copy the zip from my desktop to the sd card via windows, how do they mean the root of it??
-#4 , how do you flash. i see a flash image on the wiki, must i downlaod/install this??
Just double checking befor ei go experimenting and mess up soemthing.
Obviously a complete noob, but learning everyday, any help is much appreciated. thanks for the help so far guys.

from wiki:
1.Perform a Nandroid Backup before flashing any theme.
2.Download a theme you like. Check the forums.
3.Copy the zipped theme file to the root of your SD card.
4.Flash it like you would any other .zip file.
from how to use recover (wiki):
HTC Desire (GSM) Hold Volume Down and the Power button, then use Volume Down to highlight "bootloader" and press the Power button to select it. Once in the bootloader, use Volume Down to select "recovery" and press the Power button to select.

Ok so tried to insta.
Did the following:
1)hboot
2)went into recovery
3)install .zip in sd card
it went into unrevoked and i selected the file and installed.
everything finished then exited.
but now all i get is a screen with cyanogen android guy on skateboard and and arrow going in circles around hope....looks like a screen saver that refreshed like every 5 seconds......so what do i do now????? seems soemhting did not go as planned.
Did you wipe? Read what I said last post
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
no did not wipe....have nothing installed on phone....and i cleared everything off of sd card before i put on the cm 7.1 zip...
unfortunately your post came acouple mins after i attempted !! as luck would have it.
goign through your faq's now to see if i can sort it out.....
cant get passed the screen saver....but i can get into hboot/recovery
i see your wipe comment below:
should i let it run for 10 mins?? i let it run for like 2 and figured it was just stuck.
should i do a factory reset....will that undo all my rooting and partitioning that i have done???
also can cm7.1 work with an ext4 partition??? which is what i have.
the gparted advice was excellent as well.
what is all this about wiping? Do I need to?
Maybe. If you go from one stock ROM to a custom ROM, or one Custom ROM to another, the settings may not be compatible. You can wipe from ClockworkMod Recovery. - Wipe data/factory reset.
If the ROM is stuck in a boot loop for more that 10 minutes, you may have to back to recovery and do a wipe of the Data partition
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Yes you must factory reset. It won't affect root or anything. It just wipes the data partition
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Thanks rootSU,
I wiped/ factory reset it in recovery mode. next tiem i started it BOOTED INTO CM 7.1....though it seems to take its sweet time. doesn't recognize sim, but think i founds some pages to help deal with that......moving in the right direction
Thanks!
Terepin - I never said it did. But when did not having ROM manager affect flashing ROMs
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have a rooted gsm desire with s-off running on the froyo stock rom right now.
Lately, I've downloaded sandvold's beta ICS rom and tried to flash it. I've factory wiped the user data, cache partition and dalvik cache in CWM before that. Also, I have more than 1gb of space available in the sd card, if that is relevant.
The installation finished in less than 30 seconds and ended with "Installation completed". However, when I reboot the phone, I'm still on the original froyo rom.
The same thing happens when I flash the MIUI_AU ICS rom. The installation process takes up less than a minute and I return to the stock rom when I reboot.
Can anyone help?
Hi,
Perhaps it helps if you reinstall the recovery?
Which recovery do you use (clockworkmod?)?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Do you have the correct hboot with the right partitions?
You should find it in the romthread witch one you need.
Sent from my ICS Sensation XE powered by InsertCoin
I've switched my to 4ext recovery. I think I've managed to flash the rom but now it pauses at the white boot screen... it's been at the same screen for 10 minutes now.
What partitions do you have on your SD card?
Erm how do I check that?
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with this but when I select "check partition alignment" it says that my fat32 partition isn't perfectly aligned.
It seems that you dont have the needed partitions then.
via xda app
Is there any way I can fix that?
Read the noob guide in Development section. There is also a step about partitioning the SD card. And in the ROM's thread you find the required partition layout.
Apparently I just needed a stock hboot which I got from alpharev.nl. Everything's alright now.
Really gotta read the FAQ clearly and use the serach function more. Thanks!
