FROYO Petition

This is a P E T I T I O N / R E M I N D E R to Samsungs engineer´s/developer´s to boost them up and finally to show them HOW MUCH WE ARE WAITiNG FOR FROYO UPDATE to our lovely I9000 PHONE...
DONT LET THIS THREAD GO DOWN UNTIL WE´VE GOT IT!!!

Samsung have said Froyo will be released in late August to Korea, with other markets following shortly after.

?? for what should that post be usefull, Samsung already said that in August a Froyo Update will come, they only confirmed the korean version right now, but that doesn't mean that it won't come for other countries to, in the same time.

I dont think we have a mod yet. So I'm afraid the answer is no.

It's already been announced, so this thread is pointless.

Yeah, I know that. I'm just making the point that the phone was made with planning to get Froyo as an update by Samsung.

True, but that doesn't mean they will actually release it here. While I am quietly confident we will get it (by hook or by crook) the fact it has 512MB doesn't mean we are guaranteed to get it.

Froyo has been allready confirmed by Samsung to be released in August for the korean market, so I am very confident that the international version of the SGS will get it shortly after.
A pedition for samsung to commit to post-froyo releases on the other hand could be more usefull.

Yes, lets start a petition for 3.0/Gingerbread instead.
2.2 is definitely coming. Samsung doesn't have a choice. They're selling too many of these phones in too many markets not to follow through with their promise this time around. With 300,000 phones sold in Korea, imagine the PR disaster they'd have on their hands.
More than a Froyo release, I'd rather they release the video drivers so we can get custom roms. We should make a petition for that too!

Better to wait 14 days more and have good stable rom than .having installed it full of bugs .Good work takes time .

It is pointless..we are getting new Froyo test firmware every day so far...which means they are working on it...even if everyone in the world pressures them to release it...they can't change the law of physics and program faster then possible...it needs to be thoroughly debugged and make sure no major issues remain.

This should be the other version (maybe the one with CSC ITV) which was supposed to be released this week (according to Samsung's tweets and announcements).
Am I wrong or this "A" and "B" thingie is some kind of chronologic update? I mean, A comes before B, so JVA "might" be worse than JVB...
This is a stupid idea, I know, but I can see that the developers we have here are WAY better than samsung ones.

The XW region code is Western Europe, so often gets used for UK (XEU CSC code) firmwares. XX is worldwide generic, and often defaults to the KOR (Korea) CSC code.
However, this ROM is now confirmed as being a LUX code, which is indeed Western Europe, but not UK.

Would you recommend to flash the JVB version of Gingerbread? I'm on the stock 2.2.1 CSC ITV, don't know anything about bootloaders or stuff like that.

If that were the case, then JVK should technically have been more up-to-date than any of the two you mentioned. The only thing we can be certain here is that Samsung's approach to versioning and release is confusing.
I don't fault you for saying what you do, but it's important to appreciate the difference between what Samsung's and xda's developers are doing. Samsung's developers have to take a no-frills Android ROM and rebuild it into a usable operating system complete with full support for all the phone's hardware and software packages, to say nothing of having to write the TouchWiz framework from scratch. In comparison, a lot of developers here are just remixing and hacking upon a complete product that Samsung's developers have produced.
The devs here are doing a great thing, and I agree that at times certain decisions that Samsung took on the product design may be quite suspect, but it's not very considerate to discount the hard work of those who have enabled this to all take place in the first place.

I'm using JVB at the moment, having "updated" from JVK (which now looks to be the "generic" release) - the speed these things are popping out, I reckon there'll be an ITV coded release pretty soon.

Yeah, I got your point, but I meant that here, the Developers work for the whole XDA community - and not only - and they try to create the best Roms or Kernels, which are obviously based on what Samsung releases.
The thing is that it is really great to find people who can spend time on cooking modified roms or kernels, and most of them - if not all of them - do that for free. We are not paying for Samsung's firmware updates, but considering that Samsung's Developers are paid to do the best job they can do for their customers, they should do more. And they COULD.
That's why I think XDA ones are better, because they consider what people asks for and what people would like.

I'm not that positive... Of course, as soon as SGS II comes out, some developers will try to port TW4.0 on our SGS, but if it was possible I think Samsung would have added it with the last update.
Maybe some new firmwares will come out in a few days (weeks, months, years LOL) and maybe, as you stated before, we will have TW4 on our phones...

Build date is 4th April, I think that it has been encrypted on 6th April.

I think Samsung aren't gonna release Touchwiz 4 for the Galaxy S and if they do it will be after the S2 has hit the market.
It gives more reasons to upgrade to the latest S phone and also makes it an even bigger release than it already is.

It's not likely for near future. All developers are trying to make stable version for Wave S8500.

yeah and as soon as a stable version for S8500 is gonna release it will be a bit easier to port it to other waves

I hope so. But, Wave 723 has a whole different set of hardware and finding the right driver might be difficult. And also there is a Bada 1.1 factor. Developers have to find a new Bootloader and FOTA for Bada 1.1.

for the drivers i do agree with you but yeah it will take time for Wave 723 port but definitely less than S8500 wave, because now we have a way to breach bada

At this time S8500 (+ S8530), because based on nearly same Hardware/Software...
Samsung + Qualcomm
All the other bada handsets are based on Broadcom... total different.
So you have to start nearly from scratch.
Sorry. So not expect something in the near future...

As you can see - we've cracked through bada booting long time ago, porting android takes much longer time.
To be honest I don't believe port for Wave 723 will ever happen. It is even less popular than Waves I & II.

So you have to start from Scratch...
Not enough Developer, not enough time, to port Android to little bada devices.

I agree with adfree. If you guys find people with enough low level know-how willing to work on the project THEN I will help you with the bootloader.
I had a look at some 533 files, so first you may want to start with the boot2.img loaded at 0x83E00000. The code handling FOTA engine check is quite similar, so same trick should be possible if anybody wants, but I don't know whether it's going to be needed after all.

No offence, but you do not seem to be capable of 'editing firmware'. There is no software to do that. Firmware is being built from source code, which is not public.

Sorry, but it takes much more to offend me, if this is what you meant.
First of all, you'd have to show you are capable of doing more than talking while I offered my help spending that 20 minutes looking at the matter, that you didn't.
Lots of people, like you, come to this and many other sites hitting the demand tone without shadow of a reflection that people here sacrifice their private time and contribute what they discover voluntarily. Everybody with good intentions are accepted and supported, everybody with in-depth knowledge of the subject is more than welcome. You don't need to worship anybody, you don't need to have much tech know-how, but using own time to read before judging is still one single and the most important requirement. As you cannot respect these grounds you don't deserve help.

I am really dissappointed with Bada 2.0 (Delayed) and I wish to know whether anyone is working on a Port ...... ! I have seen the overclocking of WAVEDROID to 1.6 GHz (Great work mate Great WORK) and was thinking whether developers can port GingerBread on WAve !!! I use GS II and wwould like to seen that in my Wave too !!!
I am really amazed with the porting of Froyo to Wave !! I never thought that might be Possible !! (Hats Off the guys behind it !)

Well ! I bought the wave because of its specs ! LoL !! I bought it on the second day of its release in Germany ....(actually i should have bought the G S I but due to my urgency I choose Wave) !
Your reply was nice but I Used the Search to find any post about this Topic (While posting a thread it automatically searchs for the thread that resembles this post but it didnt show any thing so I thought no one has posted this !)

Thanks for the Info mate !!! We need to put some money to Mr.Oleg and Boost him up !! (I will donate soon)

Oleg said that he doesn't want money, he simply likes messing with his wife's phone. Also we really don't have any news from him, so who knows if he's still working on the port. Just sucks that this is a one man show. Bada sucks balls, but the phone is awesome and cheap.

Sorry guys,Just wanted to know.Here after,I will not post these kinds of threads.

Actually, Wave III has not even properly come out in India. If you are planning to buy this and want android on it. I suggest dump this phone. You have phones like SGS , i9003, SGSII to suit your needs and your budget! Don't be too eager. It is going to come in Indian in the Q2 of 2012...Still lot of time buddy!

Dude, Go to ANY dealer in Bangalore, you wont find Wave 3. It will take time to adjust to the trend. First, a basic FW upgrade has to come out. Don't expect all the Development to take place as soon as the phone is out! It will take a hell lot of time. You can chill on that for now!
