This mount looks to be made specifically for the EVO and also has 3 separate places to hold the phone in snuggly. On sale today for 5 dollars and free shipping (it's always free shipping though)

I have this dock (got mine off eBay). I don't have a cover and it fits nice and snug. It's actually an iPhone 4 / EVO mount, so don't be surprised if the box is labeled as such.
It does not have built in USB charging (no biggie, buy a cable) and will not be recognized by the phone as a "car dock". For me this was a non-issue, I just devoted one of my home screens to car apps (Google Maps, Trapster, etc.)

wow! for $5 I'll give it a try! I've been wanting one of these for a while but wasn't going to spend the money on sprint's car dock!
Just ordered one. thanks for the link!! i've been looking for a car mount and this deal is greatness. thank you!
just ordered mine too! this baby will go right where my gps was. gotta love google nav!
This probably won't work with the otterbox commuter case right?
Good question. Using the commuter case too.
just looking at the case I highly doubt it. That is one thing I've never been a fan of cases for...but for 5 dollars and free shipping how could you go wrong!
Just ordered mine.
Just received my order confirmation today. Looks like they are shipping it from Singapore and state that it might take 2-3 weeks.
I dont have this mount but just looking at the design...this will scratch your phone for sure..just my .02
Ill give one a shot before I order the one from Sprint off eBay its going for around $40 -$45.

I agree with you. plus i'm rockin' the OB Defender. I figure for $5, it'll give me a working platform and i can fabricate something better(read: JBWeld)
This mount is garbage you have to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL when taking the phone out of the Mount the two clips are very fragile and will break VERY easily.
also adjusting the car dock takes a little bit to get it right where you want it, also make sure to clean the suction cup with alcohol prior to use to get all the gunk off of it so it doesn't fall off the windshield when it warms up.
My first one broke so i called and complained they sent another one so i gave it away and bought the HTC Car dock, and haven't had one problem with it yet.

You called Singapore from California over a $5 part?
I ordered the same one, but it has a vent mount instead of a suction cup. The mount holds the phone perfectly. It does not scratch or marr the phone at all. Only bummer with the vent mount is that it isnt adjustable. Its just straight out. Im working on modifying it so I can tilt the phone towards me while its mounted.
Here is a picture and link to it on ebay. Super cheap! Took a few weeks to arrive though.

My car dock has the same "clip" portion, but a different suction base--but generally I'm extremely pleased with it. It was $5 shipped as well, took about 3 weeks to arrive, and has held up for the last five months or so perfectly.
I actually wrote an app for the market to get "dock" functionality out of car docks that don't actually cause a phone to "dock"; if you're interested it's called "Car Kit" in the market.
With the cheap dock and the app, my phone automatically does everything I want in the car just like the hella expensive official docks. No way I'm spending $50 on what less than $10 can do just as well.

i mean come on you wait almost a month to get it then it breaks days later that's BS
just got mine in the mail today! only thing that stands out right away is that you have to be careful putting in and taking out your evo. other than that, this thing is perfect for what I need and at $5 you can't go wrong!
I'm going to try it out tomorrow but with all the snow and ice moving through the midwest tonight I'll have my eyes glued to the road!
It's good to see these things are actually shipping. i'm STILL waiting on mine. I ordered parts for my ecig from Cyprus and even it beat the car dock here. wth?!

I use a car mount that I got from walmart years ago. Its one of those ones that clips to the vent.
I have the same case, but it is clear plastic and hard, not rubberized, so it actually provide some type of drop protection.
I added the disk to the back of the case, and it is great. Keeps the camera off the table when I set it down, and you don't notice the disk while its in your pocket.
That car mount is the nicest mount I have ever used. It is rock solid when installed. The disk will NOT firmly attach to the evo battery cover, the textured paint will cause it to fall off. The service from the guys that sell that case is absolutely top notch, I would buy again from them in a heartbeat.
Thanks for the idea. Ordered the exact samething, except I got the black case since that would match my car better. Same price too.

i just ordered two of them beause i have another weekend car. how is it on bumps? does it look as if its gonna fall off? im just worried about the phone falling off because i have stiff suspension on my other car.
is the clip on backplate sturdy enough?
thanks for posting the code though, thats awesome
<sorry, I cannot post a link or image yet>
I'm using scosche's mount for iphone 3gs(IPH3G). It is a bit tight for my evo, but I really like its flexible windshield mount, and this tightness makes the phone stay within the dock in any position.
fiy, I just got "Gizmo Dorks Rubberized Case Cover: $3.22", and it also fits with this mount.. (more tight than before though...)

Any tips on getting the disc to stick on the case?
I've used both of the disks, and they stay decenly on the case until I actually try to dock it in the M2... as soon as I try to rotate the device at all the disk just pops right off

I had the same issue. Super glue solved the problem. The adhesive they provide will not bond to anything (in my case, Seidio Innocase Active Limited Edition Black, the slightly ruberized exo-skeleton part). Works great now and I don't think its gonna fall off anytime soon.
I just bought one as well... this will be my first non proclip mount and I am happy about the discount - so much so that I bought 2 of them and a red case! Thanks for the tip! I will send pics when they arrive and I mount them - lets see if the summer heat melts them away!
installed last week
I didn't want to post a reply until I actually used it for a little while but now I can actually say... what a fantastic mount. I have it braced against my dash and installed the disc on the back of my active case. Unbelievable how unobtrusive thewhole set up is compared to a normal dock. Would recommend to anybody. FYI get a Bluetooth receiver. Unlimited data from Sprint means you can stream all day long
I was surprised to hear you had problems with the disk... did you swab the hell out of the case with the alcohol swab that came with, the case felt a little dusty so that is very important... I actually tried to get mine OFF and had a hell of a time and gave up. Another question, is the disk on the phone or the case I recommend?
Glad to hear its being enjoyed by some as much as I have enjoyed mine.

Well, to be totally honest the alcohol wipe I received was mostly dry when I openened it, and I figured the case was new so I didn't bother wiping it, although I used what little alcohol that was on it to wipe down my dash before applying the dash mount. However, I have noticed after all this that case does have a dusty feel out of the box, so maybe that was it.
It also seems the disk-in-the-mount is a tight fit... once it falls off of my case, I almost need a pair of pliers to rotate the disk and pull it out.
I'll try superglue and see if that helps.

They make the same one for multiple tablets and/or DVD players as they mention in the product title. Also, the dimensions they quote will fit the xoom.
Oddly enough, they charge different prices different models though they appear to be the same product.

Looks like a http://www.ram-mount.com mount.
It finally came, although just a day after a I was hoping to get it. Haven't had a chance to take a pic yet but it installed in minutes and fit perfectly in my Jeep Grand Cherokee.
There are foam pads on the clips which will prevent any scratching of the screen. The piece that holds the xoom has a spring loaded back which will hold it securly in the mount. Nothing really stopping you from using it with the portfolio case or other protective casing.
The only beef I have has to do with the headrest mount and the part that holds the xoom. They are two separate pieces which work on a slide lock mechanism. I imagine over time this could be an issue. Not so worried because of 14 price tag.
Very sturdy and well made for a $14 headrest mount. More well thought out than the portfolio case
Will try to take a pic or two tonight and upload.

Hi KidJoe,
Do you have a case on the Xoom right now? If you're using the Motorola portfolio case, by any chance, there's a sort of channel between the upper and lower sections of the case's back section in which you can nicely fit a small (like parachute or clothesline) cord. Not at all fancy, but it's quick and dirty and allows you to tie the Xoom to a headrest. It may not appear stable until you try it, since the back folds, but when it's tied to a firm object the back cannot fold and the Xoom stays nicely in place. You'll even have access to the charging port.

TFY 2nd Gen Car Headrest Mount Holder
Just thought I'd share this. It was so easy. I couldn't stand how using the holder as it comes because it was always in my direct line of sight while driving. Its kinda dangerous to have something block that much of my view. So what I did was take the tab holder and took off the pivit part of it, slid it into the car holder I had for my phone and it fit almost perfect. It clips into the heater/AC vents.
I'll get all the info on it later tonight when I get home.

Hello...i am looking to buy this one...could u please post some pics and may be a video?
Neat idea. This would be great if the tab was a 3g and you get a good GPS app. Or I suppose tethering your tab to your phone to use for gps. With a nice big screen to look at, it could make things convenient.
I'm desperate to find something like this, can you give detailed instructions for how you did that?

LOVE.IT.
I run Car Home Ultra and Mort Player for music. Sweet.
Especially nice if you use high-quality MP3s and have a decent head unit. Couple of weeks of non-repeating tunes to carry with me.
Jamming along on the highway and the music softly ramps down to mute when a call comes in ... then unmutes when they hang up.
Sound through the speakers is amazing (use GOOD cables.)
Oh, and get a nice 2.1A USB socket (I like Satechi.)
I have just received my car dock today after ordering it from amazon (uk).
The dock itself is easy to assemble and you have the option of either attaching it to the windscreen or there is an enclosed disc which you can stick on your dashboard and then attach the car dock assembly.
There are two usb cables suppiled (one LONG and the other short) and the long one has an audio adapter joined onto it at the base. There is also a usb charger included.
My phone has a mesh cover and, leaving out an included spacer, I am able to fit the phone into the dock without having to take the cover off.
I have had a quick try out whilst driving and it is an enjoyable experience and that is with using the motorola 'car' app.
This is the first time I have had a car dock and I would recomend this item.
Just a heads up to all you new car dock owners: sure, you could use the window mount and that plastic mount for the dashboard.
But, if you wanted to, you could also use this following product that lets you use the car dock in your vehicle's air vents:

If you use this adaptor for the air vents, it'll also help in keeping your phone cool while it's on the dock, especially on those hot days where having it on the windshield mount exposes it to the sun's heat even more so.
I've been using this for months now and it works very well and fits the car dock as if it were made for it.
Enjoy!
Love this dock, but it overheats in summer. Also it loses suction occasionally... might break the screen on my transmission stick.

I think I addressed a less than $5 fix for those issues in my post.
The one right before yours, actually.

I'm just responding to your overheating/suction issues by saying "you can solve both of those issues by doing this:...".
but if you don't want to put your phone near the vents, that's fine, too.
Just read the post about the vent clip. Looks sweet. Got out for $2.59 shipped on Ebay.

ifalldownalot,
You are using that model with your OEM dock?
I hope so, because I just pulled the trigger on one.
Screw it, $4.98 via 2 Day Air. Not a huge deal.

if by "that model" you mean the link I posted, then yes, I am using that with the OEM Motorola car dock.
I'll take a picture of it in a bit and post on here.

In my searching for a charging stand, I came across these that I thought may be of interest to others here but I hadn't seen anyone post them.

Looks nice, but the one the OP posted is priced better. Plus shipping is only $8.00 for California so I'm thinking about going with the one OP posted and save some money.
That last one looks really nice, but with shipping is very pricey
Unfortunately the prices listed are the best we can do. After everything that we put into this including shipping supplies, material, rubber feet and Microsuede, and then we get hit with high services charges there isn't much we can do. Remember you get what you pay for. Thanks!

Hi, how much did you have to shave? Was it difficult?
D.
maybe a cm? it was fairly easy, just traced around the charger then took an exacto knife to it. might have taken me 10m or so. the charger sits up a few mm from flush, and I have to say the watch has aligned properly and started charging on the first try every time. I would only get it to charge 2 out of 3 times before

How long did it take for you to get yours after ordering it? I've not even got an email letting me know when it'll be coming.

how does the charger attach to the stand? do you mind taking some pictures of it without the watch and phone? is there any padding where the phone rests? I'd worry that bare aluminum would scratch the phone. lastly,is that a case or skin on your phone? love the red sides

I've literally just blu-tacked the puck onto the stand. There is padding for the phone support, a little bit of rubber. The padding for the watch area I added myself using a bit of felt type material. And yes that is a skin on my phone I have attached an image, the back is a black matte dbrand and the size are red true color. The stand is completely modular as well so you can add any phone in any orientation.

I received this stand yesterday and I love it. It is great to have my phone and watch on the same stand. It took 2 weeks to arrive from China to the U.S. The watch stand is made to hold an Apple Watch charging puck. The hole in the metal is surrounded by a rubber grommet. The Huawei charging puck is too big to even begin to fit the hole so I temporarily fastened the puck using blue tape to the stand in the position I wanted . I then turned the stand over and filled the opening in the back with hot glue. I left the grommet in the opening which, if necessary, allows me to rotate the position of the charger if needed. Positioning the watch to attach properly to the charger is easy since if it doesn't connect on the first touch, you can slightly tweak the watch while the puck is held in place.

After 3 weeks, no stand and no response from the seller. Opened a PayPal dispute several days ago and the seller has not responded. Do not buy the first item in the OP!

Thats really sad to hear, makes all of us selling online look bad. I knew that price was too good to be true as the seller is making very little if any profit, and probably doesn't care about his customers. Lesson learned
The same exact thing happened to me last week but with the second stand listed (same seller) - after 3 weeks, no stand and no response from the seller. I opened a PayPal dispute last week and the seller has not responded.
Do not buy the second item in the OP!
Really unfortunate because I have not seen another stand that has those notches to keep the watch aligned.
