[Q] Getting stock launcher on CM7 - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey i was just wondering if there was anyway to either override or get rid of ADW launcher on CM7. i downloaded a stock launcher from the OMGB forum and flashed it and it worked, but i just woke up and its suddenly gone. i flashed it again and nothing happened. do i need to use a different download? or disable something? sorry i'm somewhat new to this xD

Have you tried one from the market?
Or did you try removing ADW manually or with root explorer after you install stock launcher?

Search "gingerbread launcher" in the market.

Or just flash this- Its from OMGB so credit goes to R2
Direct Link: Stock Launcher - Right Button Mapped to Browser
or download it from OMGB page
OMGB
I was thinking that flashing was easier because I flash cm7's latest rom almost everyday and then I can flash this with it. Or is the market one stay on phone through flashes since it's not in system/app because that would be much easier either way you have to delete custom launcher in titanium or something else.

Can you recommend any of the gingerbread launchers on Market. Most seem to be modified for froyo...

[Q] CyanogenMOD, where is the market?

So I recently installed CM6 RC1 on my evo, and i guess there isn't a market app on this ROM along with a lot of other apps I actually wanted from my old htc stock ROM. How can i get the market back? Also is there a way I can bring back other apps from the old htc stock?

you must download and flash the latest google apps. and what other apps are you refering to?

like calendar, since the only way i can get onto the calendar preloaded with cm can only be used with an exchange server, weather, etc.
User launcher pro plus instead of adw launcher. It has sense like widgets.

That will take longer than to just re-download them.
Go back to the thread and read EVERYTHING in the original post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735596

I just tried this a hour ago or so and once I deleted ADW I could go back to the home screen because I didn't have a launcher no more

You can't just uninstall all the launchers on the phone. You must have one installed to go to the homescreen. CM7 (and similar ROMs) have ADW built into the ROM and not just tacked onto the top of the stock ROM.
I guess I will post this yet again. Here's how you get the stock GB 2.3 launcher on your CM7 phone:::
You can find the mod here in the Nexus S forum: THREAD.
Download the first file and flash through recovery. You'll lose all your homescreen placements and widgets you have set up with ADW.
If you want to flash this over nightlies every day, you need to follow a specific order to not lose your placements again.
1) flash CM7 nightly via recovery (not ROM manager)
2) after install, stay in recovery (don't boot up into the ROM!), go to Advanced > Reboot recovery
3) after recovery reboots, flash the launcher mod
Just in case you're lazy, I've attached the file also.

And my answer: You can't do that. You need to install the stock launcher first....
If you have LP installed already, can you then uninstall ADW?
When I was using stock ROM, I used LP and liked it just fine. Now that I am on CM7 RC1, ADW won't keep my custom icons. I am not even using icons I made either, I am using the ADW icons.
For example, I changed the dock icons to a different market icon, phone, messaging and internet globe. Then after a few hours, I will look down at the phone and one of the icons will be back to the stock icon. Then a little while later, another one will be back. I have tried changing them back, locking the desktop and nothing.
I am fine with ADW, except for that, so if there is something I can do to fix it, please tell. If not, how can I switch to LP? I don't really want the stock launcher..

install LP from the market if you don't already have it,
go into your applications, go to "All", find ADW,
open it up and clear defaults.
press "home" and you should be prompted to select an action (check the Use as default box, then select LauncherPro)
should be golden.

Theme Only half works?

I installed Red Angry Alien theme and only the icons came up. Nothing else. I wiped cach, dlvik and factory reset (3 times each) and nothing. I uninstalled the app and re installed it twice. but nothing.
any ideas?
Thanks a lot!

ClockWorkMod Froyo.EC05
What version of CWM do you have? Is your Froyo.EC05 odexed? Is it the Stock Plus ROM?
One suggestion though is to try another theme. Maybe there is something wrong with the download. If other themes flash fine then that would be my suspicion.

I did it exactly the same way as before so Im not sure whats wrong.
As you can tell, I dont know much about this yet.

When you say you only get the icons but nothing else. What else is there? Are you talking about specifically like the pulldown notifications? or something else specifically?
If you open the Phone app, is your phone themed? What about your keyboard? Besides that i think only your notification drawer gets themed.
Also, can you try a different theme?

No, I mean the main icons on the dock. The Phone, Email, Web, Messaging, and Applications icons. There are no other icons that are the same as the themed icons that did download. I cant even open up the phone app. When I click it, all it says is, "this specific application is not installed on you're phone"
Also, I just unrooted my device and I plan on trying to root it again. Now, is there anything else I should do? Ive been using CWM 2.5.0.1 should I use this one or another version?

I mean it almost sounds like the theme is not compatible with your Rom. Most likely due to your ROM having CIQ enabled and maybe the theme you're using does not. Just a theory.
If you're going to use an EC05 Based ROM my suggestion is to use either SRF 1.1 or the Bonsai ROM (google it). There are others too but that's just my opinion.
If i were you prolly the easiest thing to do is flash this in ODIN:
Slightly Modded EXT4 EC05 Tar Prerooted Deodexed Zipaligned Png Optimized - http://www.multiupload.com/A9VPX4G2ZW
And then flash bonsai or SRF1.1 over it.
And then flash one of the themes you saw that you liked.

[Q] How to backup stock JellyBean launcher

All,
Been using Nova Launcher and its backup/restore on ICS. Recently switched to JellyBean and running stock. I forgot how much of a pain to reset my widgets, apps to my liking.
To avoid doing this everytime I flash Jellybean rom, is there an easier way to backup my stock launcher setting?
Thanks!

it can, you just might have ui errors until it gets updated.
It would be so great if someone knows the location of just the datafiles for the stock launcher. I want to do the same thing. No reason to use some backup app to do it. All I want to do is once I have my home screen set up the way I like, go grab the stock launcher data folder and save it on the sdcard.
Then the next time I load a new ROM all i have to do is copy that folder back and my home screen is back again.
At least that is my fantasy world...

[Q] Bricked

Hi! I'm new and I need help. I've just bricked my rooted S3.
My S3 was rooted with the official firmware. I did it last year, so I'm not sure which firmware was I on.
I was just messing around Titanium Backup and I've accidently frozen the TouchWiz launcher app. I thought it was just a junk app, but I was wrong. The S3 screen turned black, so I rebooted the phone and now I'm always stuck with the Samsung boot logo forever.
I can get into Download mode or CWM recovery. I heard that I could fix the S3 by putting the TouchWiz apk back into the system folder or something... But I don't know how.
I guess I can reflash but I don't want to lose data... How stupid of me not to backup data before.
Thanks in advance
Ok, I've managed to fix the brick problem by using ADB to push/install SecLauncher2.apk into the system folder. However, I'm running into a new problem right now. I constantly keep getting "Unfortunately, TouchWiz Home has stopped." errors and some blank screens.
Did I install the wrong HomeWiz launcher...? Or is it because of the conflict between this HomeWiz launcher and the frozen HomeWiz launcher from titanium backup?
Any solution...?

Sorry, missed that part......
Go here, download either the odexed or deodexed rom, flash it in recovery and you'll be good to go.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910947
Also, just fyi, if you can get your phone to turn on at all then it's not bricked......borked, sure, but not bricked. :highfive:
Dirty flash a rooted stock Rom or a custom one. TW based. Do NOT wipe anything.
You also can install another launcher like Apex or Nova and set right permissions to the launcher and unfrooze in TB.

Thanks, but my S3 isn't Spirit. Does it matter?
Well, I've just uninstalled the TouchWiz app via ADB and installed a different launcher called GO or something. No more error now, but the TouchWiz app is missing in Titanium backup (the one that I frozen)... Is it possible to find the touchwiz APK somewhere else? the one that actually works.
I've never installed a custom ROM before. So, can you recommend me which one to use? I'm all for battery efficiency.

What carrier are you on?
You have to go into recovery then wipe dalvik cache and fix permissions
A brick is when your phone becomes as useful as a brick. No booting, no bootloop, nothing
I just wanted to say that I'm so glad this isn't ANOTHER "I installed an international ROM" brick thread. So sick of seeing those.
so, thanks.

No this is one of those I have an international S3 and I'm posting in the wrong thread and I don't know what I'm doing posts.
