Both Amon_Ra (1.8 and higher) and The newest clockwork will backup the wimax partition.

does the newest version come with unrevoked by any chance

I think unrevoked flashes Clockwork recovery, you can use clockwork to flash alternative recovery and that will flash Amon_Ra 2.2.1.

The newest Amo ra, does have an option to back up the Wimax partision.

How to change amon ra recovery?

Can someone give me a guide? I install need it for an evo and incredible.

The long way is to use ADB and a couple of files. The short way is to download ROM manager and use it to flash either clockwork or amon RA
Both cases require you to have root on your phone already

+1 on using ROM Manager, it's so easy even a caveman can do it!
Yah easiest way to change from amon ra to clockwork is to use Rom manger and flash the clockwork recovery. Although not sure why you would want to do that since amon ra makes better nand backups....

And can properly wipe the dalvik cache...
My guess is that OP is upgrading to RA 1.8.0
Guys it doesnt have amon ra recovery in rom manager at the bottom.
The flash alternate recovery is
Ra_gmn recovery v1.7.6
Is that amon ra?

go to market and update your version of rom manager - it should say RA Recovery v1.8.0 under flash alternate recovery.

Put the zip anywhere and clockwork backups won't work on ra.

If it's the new RA recovery(2.1.1 I think? or 2.2?), it can be anywhere. I haven't used it yet (still on 1.8.0, if it's not broke, don't fix it), so I don't know how to navigate folders with it. On RA 1.8.0, the zip has to be on the root of your sd card for it to see it. And as the other guy said, you can't use clockwork nandroid backups on RA, and vice versa. So I suggest making backups with both, definitely is safe.

a few question on recoveries.

I rooted with unrevoked and have been happy. I made a back up with clockwork mod then quickly changed my recovery to amonra because I was told it would back up the 4g keys. Now I have flashed myns (first rom other than stock) and would like to go back to using clockwork so I can flash roms like crazy from rom manager. Is there anything I need to know before changing back.
Also if I need to go back to my stock nandroid back-up on amonra with my 4g keys, how can I get back to amonra again??
I want to try cyanogen mod 7 nightly.
Thanks in advance.

I personally wouldn't switch back to clockwork, IMO, Amon RA is more stable and reliable. I have also grown very partial to doing all of my flashing manually from recovery, and have stayed away from using ROM manager for flashing and wiping. I just dont trust it. However, if you do indeed wish to use clockwork and ROM manager, the simplest way to switch between Amon RA and Clockwork recovery is by using ROM manager. There is an option in within ROM manager that says "flash clockworkMOD recovery". That will flash you back to the most recently updated clockwork recovery. If you want to switch back to Amon Ra, there is an option "flash alternate Recovery". That will flash you back to Amons recovery. Just remember, any nandroids you created with Amon, can only be restored by Amon, and any created by clockwork can only be restored by clockwork. They are NOT interchangeable, and will cause problems if you try.

Backup in Clockwork.. How do i restore in Amon Ra

I have a backup that was created in Clockwork but now I am running Amon ra 3.07 how can I restore that backup?
I created a file in Mac. How do I open it in Windows???
Get it??
Actually, there's an Amon Ra Style Recovery in the Dev section that will restore CW Nandroids

Its never worked for me,if i backed up with cwm i couldnt restore with Amon Ra or TWRP.I think it has something to do with the MD5 code.

You'll have to use that amon style ra recovery where you can restore both recoveries.
Where can I get the CW latest zip file? I searched in forums but no luck
You can try this Amon Ra style recovery. It is supposed to work for CW and Amon Ra backups.

custom recovery

when i rooted my evo about a week ago i followed instructions to the t for the ENERGY sense rom. i use revolution-0.4 i think that included clockwork mod for the custom recovery. i was thinking of switching to amon ra recovery. can i jsut download and flash it or will that cause problems? if so what do i need to do prior to switching recovery tools?
All you need to do to switch recoveries is download Amon Ra. Rename it to PC36IMG.zip. Then put it on the root of your sdcard. Boot into bootloader and it will ask you to update, press volume up for "yes" and bam your done. Then delete the PC36IMG.zip. (if it doesn't ask you to update when you boot into the bootloader, start your phone back up and remove the ".zip" from the recovery you renamed.

Remember that if you have any backups with your current recovery, theres a chance the new one will not be able to verify the MD5SUM and restore your current backups.
