Need help searching for 100% stock rom - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I rooted my buddies EVO for him which also installed S-OFF. He's been complaining about his device freezing with the Sprintlovers ROM. I haven't actually looked to see what's the issue but he's coming today to have it fixed. I just want to install a 100% stock rom, maybe with root access available so I can fix him up fast. His is a newer white one with HBOOT 2.02, not the latest 2.10 (I think).
Can someone here kindly point me in the right direct to a 100% stock EVO Sense ROM?

Try joeykrims stock rom.

i had my evo rooted, and looked for 2.2 through software update and couldnt get it. now i factory restored and it still wont find the update, it also says i have 2.1 update-1 so idk what to do i really want froyo. thanks!
You should have stayed rooted and flashed a stock rom from the development section.

I am rooted also but I did see it in the HTC Updates on my phone.

not very helpful considering the fact that a factory reset most probably still has him in a root state. You either need to do a manual unroot to get back to a true factory reset or follow these instructions as an easier way:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-roms-hacks/19278-how-unroot-return-stock.html
When you choose the RUU...use the 1.47 one...then after complete you should be able to OTA Froyo.
Wouldn't it be easier to just keep your root and download one of the newer 2.2 roms and keep root. There's even stock rooted roms.
well i the only reason i rooted to begin with was for the 2.2 update. i think if there is a like newer versions of 2.2 without htc sense then i will flash to that. does anyone know of that? a 2.2 rom thats plain android. witht he cameras and bluetooth and 4g working also pretty stable?
Yup, fusionx has a wicked fast, snappy, and stable rom without sense. Check it out in development section. Download it, do a complete wipe, and flash it. Make sure to flash new radios and wimax as well. They will be listed under the rom probably. These need to be flashed one at a time. Good luck and have fun.

CM6 is as close to ASOP as you'll ever get. It is super nice. No 4G or Hdmi yet, it will be added eventually.
Do not update to 2.2 through sprint. There is absolutely no point. Flash the rooted 2.2 stock rom, it is the exact same thing except you get to keep your root.

[Q] GPS issues

new to rooting and flashing roms. there is onw problem I am having. When I flash a rom gps suddenly goes out the window, none of the indicators pop up in the notification bar, maps and navigation have a problem finding my location, and most of the time my phone doesn't know where I am. Now if I unroot back to stock everything goes back to normal which is weird to me but what I would like to ask the community is that, What can I do to fix this issue? Do I need to flash a fix or is there nothing I can do?
I'm sure you've already done this but you did go in to your location settings menu and checked the ones that apply? I haven't heard of this and it must not be a hardware issue if it works fine on stock..
that's what I thought... honestly I haven't tried all the roms (mostly just the stock roms) but I have flashed at least four, all with the same results. I would just keep it stock so I have a fully working phone but the only unrooted flash I know of is on the Unlockr site which will unroot it back to 2.1 and I don't know if I can live that far in the past
The other weird thing is in locations there is an option for location on and E911 . The E911 is checked on and it says that E911 cannot be checked off on any mobile device. Ask the other times it gives me an option. I am currently running Magnolia Final's latest version

when I flash through hboot should I wipe as if I'm flashing another rom? I flashed a 2.2 ruu before the OTA went out and I ended up bootlooping and everything forced closed on me. I think that's what made me root in the first place.
where do i go to get it
Having the same issue my GPS has not worked for like the past 6 months if anyone has found a fix to the problem. I'm running lous #8 the new evo radio .04.08

[Q] Flashing stock recovery to let Gingerbread OTA do it's job?

I've been running rooted Froyo on the Inc2 for a while now, and I finally decided to let the OTA run and root again after the update. I did not realize that the OTA would not complete with CWM installed, so now I'm in a loop where I can only use my phone for 2 minutes before the reboot initializes again - and hangs on the reboot.
All I really want to do is flash stock recovery over CWM, let the OTA run, and root again. This allows me to keep my data, apps, and cache.
Is this an option? I've been searching through xda for hours, but I haven't found the answer.
This thread spoke of the topic, but the answer linked to a rom that has since been removed from xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1165580
Any help? I'll send a few bucks for the answer. I'm desperate.
Just install the rooted 2.3.3 ota posted by rmk. It's the exact same thing you want to do. Why would you unroot to get the ota to root again. That would be the same as just d/l and running rooted ota in the first place.

rmk pulled that ROM from XDA.

That is correct.
All his ROMs are on Rootzwiki. Install the original, then flash the patch right after.
It's much easier for you to install the debloated ROM than to try to get the stock recovery back on and let the OTA do it's thing. If you still have CWM installed just DL the ROM, and flash it. Also you probably want to update your radio which can be done here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1134451
SkyRaider Zeus is an excellent hybrid ROM with no bugs that I have found. You can find that in the Team BAMF forums. I'd recommend that ROM.

Decided to try Skyraider Zeus and it's very nice! Should I still update my radio? Battery life is only OK so far, but great features and snappy.

On CM7 want to go back to stock

Im selling my G2 and thought i had made backup prior to flashing to CM7.
What is the best "official" rom to go back to? And maybe a little noob guidence. I beileve i just boot to recovery and then restore yes?
The official ROM is T-Mobile's stock ROM. You can find it along with a guide here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Unrooting_and_Returning_to_Stock
I dont want to unroot i just want to go to stock gingerbread rom
Well, I assumed you wanted to sell the phone in a state similar to as if it just came from the factory, in which case flashing the original stock ROM would be unrooted.
Than flash virtuous 2.0 - i think this is as close to stock you can get, with some good tweaks and you are still rooted

I was also confused. "Stock" implies stock, as in factory condition, i.e. unrooted...

He`s got a G2 though which means he never had HTC Sense, he would want Virtuous G-Lite if anything (unless that`s what you meant in which case my bad haha)
I think there are a few rooted stock gingerbread roms in the dev section. Flash those for a rooted stock experience.

There are stock 2.3.4 roms that are already rooted, but it screws up. I was in the same situation. I suggest try to go back to stock 2.2 (Froyo) and then install updates. I don't think rooting the G2 on 2.3.4 is worth it really. Trust me. Its a freakin pain. Anyway, back to rooted 2.3.4 rom. I flashed it 2 days ago and it almost screwed up my phone! I can't use the market (i get an error) and I can't use music, camera, media stuff.. Its not worth flashing 2.3.4 rom. Although, if you want to be a rebel, go for it
You've been warned by the way.
There's a 'stock' rooted ROM available that works great. However, I would not sell it when rooted. If the person you sell it to gets an automatic update from HTC, it could brick the phone. Put the original non-rooted ROM back on before you sell it.

Agreed. Off topic but @cheetodude24 should seek help if he/she is having problems with the rooted stock ROM.

[Q] Hopefully a quick question....

Well, I have the Incredible 2, which had 2.3.4 on it. I wanted to root, so I ran Revolutionary, and all went well. But, it did not downgrade to 2.3.3 like I thought it said, rather it downgraded to 2.2.1. It's rooted, and runs fine, but there were a couple apps that are not working properly, and the app says its due to the older version. So I guess my question(s) are: Did I make a mistake somewhere to make it downgrade to 2.2.1? And what is the simplest way to upgrade it to 2.3.3, (if possible) And whats the closest to a stock version of 2.3.3 can I get? I have searched, but know one else seems to have this problem. Sorry if it is posted somewhere, but I dont see it. Thanks in advance for any help

Well, we don't really have a stock 2.3.3 any more, but we do have ginger bang sense which is based off the latest update.

Sounds good to me, thanks. Just for ha ha's, any idea why it rolled back to 2.2.1 rather than 2.3.3? Not a huge deal, more curious in case I need to do it again.
