Baseband: 2.15.00
Kernel: 2.6.32.15
Please help me , show me how can i do root (i have tried unrevoked does not work)
I really need this asap
Thank you
You cant, you have to wait till someone finds a way to root 2.2. As of right now there is not a way.
Not to be rude, but you really should have searched, first. I can just about guarantee that others will not be so kind in suggesting you do the same.
However, in the interest of, perhaps, helping other searchers, Android 2.2 on the EVO cannot be rooted right now. We will all just have to wait until someone cracks it.

Also, tethering without paying is against your terms of service and technically stealing. Might want to just pay for the service, seeing as you can use Wired or Wireless tethering legally on the Evo. You can also just pay for the days you use it ($1 per day) by turning it on and off on your account.

x2 I never saw this.
Yeah that would be a pretty sweet deal for $1/day of actual usage vs. $30 each and every month. //skeptical

Is there a specific section in the TOS that states that? Just curious as to if it's against the TOS is why your calling it stealing, or if it's just your personal opinion, Since everyone has payed for the hardware, and it is a capability of the phone, and you are paying for the data usage, just not seeing it as stealing personally.

I think he was thinking turning on the wifi tethering with Sprint then canceling Wifi tethering once you don't need it. Since the service is $30 a month, they prorate the charge to about a dollar a day.

Ok I just got my EVO working on Sprint....again.
I got my evo and how happy I was to get it working, I was happy when it worked with 3g internet - the sleepless night and whole day paid off. But I was not content, so I tried to root it. I did and without slowing down I put Fresh 3.2 rom on it.
booom! no 3g no internet lots of frustration. i tried every possible rom I could get on it but no success. finally I got the WWE SPRINT rom from from shipped-roms flashed it - btw you have to get into bootloader, hold down vol down and then fastboot-> bootloader->then start RUU.
SO now I'm with Sprint soft, and after reseting in ##786# and phone reactivated and then I tried update profile-> it went on forever until it failed with 1012. I was getting ready to call Sprint CS, but went it to ##3282# just to check - and wow - suddenly 3g appears. Dont know why, it is magic but I am happy.
If anybody has some insights on what happened to me and more importantly why ? I would really like to know more about how root / custom rom makes evo not connect to internet, perhaps some one with insight knowledge of Sprint CS / and provisioning and how vision passwords work could chime in?
First off you want to make sure you post this in the Q&A forum. Next off I'm assuming since this EVO was a bad ESN and you got it working on a SERO you cloned another ESN. If that's the case I'm not thinking you're going to get much help here, and I wouldn't post that in a public forum. If not you need to give more information on how you got a Bad EVO esn activated on a SERO plan which doesn't take EVO's yet.
Hey, I edited my post. Sorry for the typos. If I;m in a wrong forum - Mods- please move, its my first post - so I apologize.
i consider that payin for data plans that makes your phone bill around $80 shouldn't be mandatory.
So i made a 2days research and i found that UnlockToTalk would flash my device for $50.
I dont want to pay that much money. So I wat to know how to flash my device to a CDMA PagePlus network.
I have a HTC EVO rooted,
v2.2 nd software: 3.70.651.1
i got the pageplus.prl file but i don't know how to install it into my device!.
by the way im a noob with only 2days of Android Devices. lol
Any help would be apprecciated
I know this is an old thread but I thought I'd answer it anyway as I just put my Evo on PP. Solution found on this thread: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1652333-Evo-on-PagePlus/page4
Can someone help make a HTC Incredible ROM for the Sprint network. I have a Incredible working on sprint and would like the ability to update the Profile info to fix my data issues ... also so it has the right PRL file and other items.
Any help would be nice
Thank You
Would love to know as my friend is looking into getting a used android to pit on boost, would be interested to see if he could use my Inc when I upgrade.
I'm no expert. I thought sprint used GSM, this WIKI shows they are the same Radio Technology(CDMA). I know Evo radio firmwares works with the DINC. Can't say it's impossible, there used to be a cricket rom on here.
I'd repost in Q&A section. Your likely to get closed down and flamed out here.
I think I've heard Sprint won't activate an ESN not in there system

I have VZW Incredible on Sprint, we will not go int details on the forum but my im using ported evo rom, the profile or prl update section in rom does not work however im guessing you can get calls and text msgs to work but you have no 3G?
Next Question is if phone and sms are working did you do it yourself? Because if you did then it makes the process of explaining a whole lot easier.
I was under the impression Sprint blocked VZW ESN
OH they definitely do but theres always a work around
wayne2410 ... yes i did it my self and the Phone works and texting but no data. My thought was if someone can show me or cook me a ROM for the incredible with all of the sprint items built in I can update my profile and let sprint fix the Data on the phone. I have put in the AAA password and everything just wont get data. If you have some other idea to help out please email me.
Thanks,
Jay
Cook an Incredible ROM for Sprint
So is anyone willing to Help me COOK a ROM that is for the Incredible but will sprint base files ... and will this even work after i install the ROM can i update the Profile from sprint and fix my data issues ?
Isn't it easier to just get a sprint phone
Yes it would be easier to get a Sprint phone and if sprint offered a HTC phone that was good without having to pay for 4G i would ... my wife will never use 4g and there is no need for me to pay for it ... but her HTC Hero sucks
Hey jhamady check your email I sent you info that i used t get my Droid incredible working on sprint $20.00 Free and clear 3000 min unlimited data plan LOL

I too am having the same issues, the aaa is in, but no data. If anyone could forward me the directions going around from wayne, I would be extremely grateful. An incredible without data is incredibly frustrating.
Any Luck
anyone have any more luck getting data to work... I am about ready to give in. I still think if we can get someone to cook an Incredible ROM with sprint sys files we might be able to run update profile and let it repair its own data connection but even that might not work.
Recomendations?
I've been looking around through ported roms and thought that would be the best place to start.
If any of you guys using a Dinc on Sprint could recomend a rom that has as much of the "sprint" left in it as possible that would be awesome.
I'm running a Dinc with the EVO 2.15.00.11.19 Radio and EVO 1.90 PRI.
This thing ran awesome for about a month then out of nowhere something when haywire and no amount of revising my settings, COMPLETELY wiping and reflashing everything seems to fix the issue. I'm hoping a rom that will accept a OTA PRL and/or "Firmware" (PRI) update will fix it. If not, then I don't care and I'll find a new phone. ha ha
Howdy everyone,
I got a verizon incredible that will be used on sprint. i keep reading other posts where people complain about roms with sprint remnants left over.
are there any roms tha ALL of the sprint provisioning apps are still in he rom?
my main concern is setting up data.
can anyone recommend a rom that is made for sprint or at least a rom with as much sprint remnants as possible?
thanks in advance
cheers,
disco

No ROM is made for Sprint because the DInc community is primarily on Verizon. However, you can try the port of the EVO Classic, here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399512&highlight=classic
It might have some Sprint stuff leftover.

When the GB OTA first dropped it had a few Sprint remnants, the market had a Sprint link instead of a Verizon link and the build prop listed the wrong screen size and had a few mentions of Sprint. Verizon eventually fixed the issues and all the dev's updated their ROM's so finding that first original OTA will be tough as no one is around anymore and really not worth finding as it had so few Sprint things in it anyways.

Wait are you saying you want to use the incredible with sprint service, or use the incredible with vzw service but a sprint phone ported rom?
To the best of my knowledge the htc incredible will not work on sprints network, as the inc is a cdma phone and the sprint network is gsm. I could be wrong about that though.
If you want to use a sprint ported rom, your bes bet would be to learn how to use android kitchen and port a sprint rom of your liking to the inc. Its not likley any already ported ink rom arround has all the correct things needed to run on the sprint network.

And the Inc has almost the exact same hardware as Sprints EVO and that is where a lot of our kernels were coming from.
hello again,
sorry if i wasnt clear, i am using the incredible on sprint (currently voice/txt works but no data) so i was wondering if there are any roms for the incredble that are already setup for sprint? i know it is not a native sprint device, i was just hoping maybe someone had put together a sprint rom.
anyone else using an incredible on sprint? any advice on getting data working would be appreciated.
thanks again

No clue on getting it to work on Sprint, and I haven't personally seen any sprint ROMS. I'm surprised you were able to get it working on sprint. i thought they checked for ESNs before activating it. Perhaps fool around with the APN settings.

You are the first person I've ever heard of using the Inc on Sprint and there are no Sprint specific ROMs here. There is a thread on a ROM for MetroPCS and Cricket and I don't know if it would be of any help to you as it was only a WIP (work in progress and never finished).

you didnt tell me you were getting into this
only the 1x will work no 3g
but its not a bad little setup
its similiar to doing a boost flash if you dont have access to the secret stuffs
use opensesamedoor method
CDMA WS paid will give you some stuff too
you also wanna grab the profile 0 and 1 AAA and HA keys with DFS
once thats done you can slap them on your "fashed" Inc and get her done
man
you gotta PM me more often about this stuff i Love it
BTW
you should just go with the dinc2 you can set that up on sprint in about a hour
What did you need to do to get sprint service working?
I have an old incredible and LG ally that I would love to be able to activate on Sprint in the event that I manage to brick my epic 4g touch (which is an imminent possiblity what with the unsafe recoveries we have available...) were you able to do this solely from home or did you need to get a Sprint tech involved?
All the Sprint and Verizon techs I spoke to about this said that they are not allowed to activate off-network phones, and that their jobs aren't worth me having a cheaper phone (can't really blame them.)
