Hey guys, I'm trying to insatll adfree pro and the new market to my oxygen rooted desire.
I put the .zip folder in the SD card and used ROM manager to install the ROM, however when it finalized and booted back up, adfree pro wasn't installed. Any ideas?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply thebazman, I've just installed appinstaller, however it's not reading my .zip files. Am I supposed to extract them beforehand?

can you not instal adfree from the "old" market
regards
Indeed I can, but I like keeping stuff up to date, so I'd ideally like the new market.
However, I'm not hugely keen on the new market so it's not a big loss anyway.
I was going for adfree pro also.

.... install ROMs once, of course, I've rooted my phone?
I'm asking this because the process seems to be much easier than (a) download the zip file to pc; (b) transfer from pc to sd card; (c) do all the things required to flash the rom (phone in recovery, wipes, etc.)
So I was wondering if ROM manager allows you to do most of it, if not all, from your phone.
Thanks
Astro
yep
yes it will download rom in ur sd and go to rom manager >install from sd> select the one u want to flash..all done sit back and enjoy.
Alright man! That's my app then! Now I can root my phone and enjoy the fruits!
Thanks for your help avseq!

and can it help to restore the stock (official) ROM as well?
Thanks!

Well it can help you flash a stock or stock rooted rom, but in order to completely unroot(flash std. hboot, recovery and rom), you will need to run an ruu .exe file, which is coming directly from HTC. The file is run on your computer, while the phone is connected. There is also another way, but the point is, rom manager cant do this.
Hi all,
Bought myself a lovely new Desire HD yesterday and have managed to successfully root and all that fun stuff. Have reached the stage where I need to install the clockwork Mod Recovery through Rom Manager before installing a new Rom.
However, Rom Manager won't let me do this as it gives a message saying I need a 'stable internet connection' or that my sd card is full - both of which aren't true as my net connection is fine, and my sd card has 14 GB free. So I'm wondering if this is because I live in China and the Great Firewall is blocking Rom Manager from downloading the appropriate files.
Is there any other way in which I can get Clockwork Mod on my phone, or does it HAVE to be done through Rom Manager? I'd be grateful for any help people can give!

ok im a newbie at this root stuff and i just flashed the fresh evo 3.5.0.1 but i still cant figure out how to change the theme and the one im trying to get says it works with that fresh and when i download it i get two zip files do i need to add both them to my root on my sd im lost someone please help
Take the zip file you want and move it to your root SD folder. Reboot into recovery and choose that file with choose zip from SD option. Then just flash it just like you did for your rom. This is the basic method you use to flash anything to your phone.

and do a NAND BACKUP FIRST !
Both methods above are correct. And to add the cherry to our ice cream of helpitude, if the theme isn't obviously on when you reboot the rom, check the theme manager app in your app drawer.
What recovery version are you using? If its clockwork 3.0 then you'll need to use something else (either an order version of clockwork or amon_ra). This actually happened to me with cw3.0, I was able to flash a Rom fine but no themes.

You can flash themes, they just have to Edify compatible, which a lot aren't at the moment.

Strange!
Maybe start over and try
[HOWTO] get into the Download Mode, Install CW Recovery & ROOT for n00bies
Actually everything has worked out fine! Thanks a lot! And I was also wondering what programs do I install to delete bloatware? This might sound nooby, but I purchased my first Android about a week ago

Titanium backup works wonders. Make sure to backup!
I'm constantly getting a reminder that I can upgrade from Flash 10.1 to Flash 11.0 in the market. However, if I try it fails because I have insufficient phone storage.
So, I have assumed that originally, Flash 10.1 is installed on the system partition and the update to Flash 11.0 is attempting to install on the data partition where I have in suffienet space.
So, my plan was to find the Flash 10.1 APK in /system/app and remove it before copying in a new Flash 11.0 APK to /system/app which does have enough room. I'm happy using ADB for this.
However, I have a few questions if anyone can help:
Can I upgrade Flash in this manner?
In /system/app I am unable to find a Flash APK. However I can find an install_flash_player APK & ODEX, is this the Flash Player APK or something else?
Where can I download the APK for Flash 1.0?
Thanks for any help!
not sure if that will work but here you go.
Just uninstall the old flash and install the new.
Don't forget to hit thanks

Thanks, I believe it is installed on the system partition and I can't uninstall it until I know which APK it is. Hence question 2.
What ROM are you using? Rooted? Try using Titanium Backup to remove the previous flash player (TB's got a removal feature too)
