[Q] Android Default Browser - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All,
I deleted the default browser a while ago and now want to use it again for testing. I cant find it in the market, so is there a download link to add it back to my device?
Also, I have removed most of the bloatware from the device but would like to know if there is an official ROM I can download in case I need to restore the device.
Can anyone point me to some links.
Thanks
Ian

Have you tried resetting the device to default? That could solve the problem.

Download a custom rom like Leedroids, extract it somewhere, navigate ti system/app and browser. Copy it and using root explorer mound r/w and paste it into system/app of your running rom.

(Q) - How to Deodex a Stock Rom?

Hey guys:
I was having trouble updating my Profile and PRL on stock deodex rom. So I unrooted my phone and then flashed the stock 3.70 update. Then I was able to update my Profile and PRL. Then I rooted again with Unrevoked and Unrevoked Forever.
But I want to get back to having a deodex rom. I know I can flash a custom one, but is there a way to maybe deodex the stock version I have now? Maybe an apk or zipfile I can install that will do it?
Thanks
I believe it can be done through a program called ThemePro. It has a rom manager button on it which has all the standard rom tools (deodex, zipalign, build, sign, extract, etc).
I dont have the link to where i got it any more but if you search google you should be able to find it with out to many issues.

Would I need to dump my rom or is this like app that can be installed?
you would need to dump the rom to your pc or mac. once on your pc you can then have it extract deodex (zipalign if you want it too) and rebuild it/sign it for your use you can also use it to edit the apps it includes its pretty nice little tool.

I figured it was a long process. Nothing is ever easy. I thought there might have been a some secret zip / hack I could install
ah no sadly not that easy. though once it is on your pc it is really just a few clicks in the program to get it working and set up or at least it looks like it should be. I have never deodexed my own rom just know it is there and from the rest of the program shouldn't be to extraneous

MS2GINGER3.0 question

Hi all,
I am in MS2GINGER3.0 RTM and when I am trying to replace a system file (eg SystemUI.apk) I always get "system is write protected".Also, when I give adb remount,I get an answer operation not permitted. Can anyone help?
You should use root explorer and make sure browsing files with read/write ready. Putting systemUI apk would freeze your phone if the modded file have different configuration. I would suggest you put the apk into a flash able zip and flash it under CWM.

The strange thing is that with previous versions of MS2GINGER I could do anything I wanted with Android Commander. Now I have the problem that I mentioned before.I ask for what changed and there is problem now.

[Q] Extracting keyboard from backup to use in custom ROM

Apologies if this has been answered somewhere but I couldn't find it.
I have an unlocked S-On wildfire S which has Stock 2.3.5 on it although I've uninstalled a fair bit since I unlocked the bootloader.
Basically, I want to use the Miui_JxMatteo_Alpha |CM7.2| ROM but I'm not a fan of the keyboard it has. Can I extract the keyboard from the stock ROM and load it into the Custom ROM? I think it would be a case of using ROOT explorer to locate the relevant files in the backup and then to copy them to the relevant root directory and then probably flash them but I don't know which files, where they are, where they go or how to flash them properly!
Any help would be appreciated.

clarifying phone modding

hey, im attempting to mod my xperia play r800i but need to clarify a few issue here as im very very very new to android.
1. currently on 0.42, if i root it and then update to 0.62, is the phone still rooted? if not, what is the way to root 0.62? is the same rooting method applicable on it?
2. to mod my phone, is the sequence correct? unlock boatloader via sony homepage>root phone> install DoomLord kernel> flash JokaWild rom
3. for the CVM, can it be accessed for all xperia play, or need to install someting to access into that mode?
thanks!
just unlock the bootloader and then install the DoomKernel via fastboot, Doomkernel is already rooted and CWM installed

If you update OTA and not through a computer, you keep root. However, OTA doesn't work after removing bloatware, so make sure you haven't removed anything yet.
The order would be unlock bootloader, flash stock .62 firmware, flash DooMKernel, load recovery, install jokawild.
The CWM you would use to flash jokawild is built into DooMKernel. When booting the phone, the notification light will turn blue. When it does, press the back button to enter recovery.
Also, you don't need to worry about keeping root, or rooting again since jokawild is already rooted automatically.

thanks for all the reply!
another question, how do i access my phone's internal memory via my laptop?
it seems that i can only access sd card data.
Afaik the only way is to use ADB, and I'm pretty sure that's only for push/pull commands and not file browsing.
I usually use root explorer from the phone itself.

I believe the app comes factory preset.
You could always just copy the Crash Bandicoot files to your computer and not worry about it though.

no need to install that API, just install this only
- Android SDK tools
- Android SDK Platform-tools
- Google usb driver(extra)
A factory reset, as in one you do through the phone menus, doesn't modify which apps are installed. It only wipes user settings.
Flashing a stock firmware includes the games that you had when you got the phone.

if u download an apk file outside the google play, go to your download folder to install it
which way to unlock boatloader is recommended? s2tool or from sony website?
is it true that if use s2tool method, update still can be done via OTA?
