so I'm having some issues with facebook for android (and Facebook for Samsung) everytime I try to open the application or sync my contacts with facebook it force closes, thus resulting in the app being useless.
I am running Instant v0.3.2 currently, but had the same issue on Darky's Gingerbread v8.0
& yes, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling countless times, to no avail.
any ideas as to what may be causing this problem?

Did you try either "wipe" version of Darky's v8.0 or did a factory reset before installing Darky's v8.0

Anyway, i have another problem - no push facebook notification received on my phone anymore now. I'm not sure what happen (i'm on Darky's v8.0 as well with speedmod kernel K12L (500 Mhz).

I am in no way a dev but i was just curious if this app can been run/ported to a vanilla android build?
I am currently running [ROM] YetiROM_Nexus_Inc (Vanilla 2.1)- stable with stock kernel ... I have tried pushing HTCFacebook.apk HTCFacebook.odex and FriendStream.apk to the /system/app via recovery caused a boot loop ... rm'd FriendStream.apk still boot loop ... rm'd HTCFacebook.apk and HTCFacebook.odex and phone booted fine... I knew it couldnt be that easy... are there other dependacies that HTC Sense apps need? Im guessing there is code inside the .apk that needs changed? Is this possible?
I am running Jager's 1.6.1 rom, and I pushed HtcFacebook.apk, HtcFacebook.odex, Friendstream.apk and Friendstream.odex to /system/app, and all is working fine with facebook sync on mine, with no ill side effects..... Just to let you know it DOES work that way.
hmmm ok i did not push the friendstream.odex originally ... ill give it another go ... thanks for the info!
the rom you are running still has alot of HTC stuff in it ... the one i am running has none... so im thinking there are other dependencies for HtcFacebook.apk to function ...
I was trying to get the HTC dialer running on yeti, but to no avail. I believe that some of the HTC apks need the sense launcher, not positive though.
yeah im not too sure its the sense launcher its looking for per se but there is definitly a dependency that the apps are looking for that arent there ... i posted this in Yeti's thread hopefully he has some ideas ... i may just start trying to copy over some more HTC stuff in the /system/app folder and see if i can get lucky lol
All of the htc ops and widgets are built to run only with sense. Only reason it still works on jager rom is because its still sense just all of the garbage is removed. None of the sense apps will work on a true vanilla rom or even a launcher running over sense (launcherpro etc.)

Correct - however I never had any facebook syncing issues when I was stock using LauncherPro. This only happens with other roms. I am trying lots to get it to work. Since you can have both facebook and HTCFacebook, maybe HTCFacebook does the syncing (using friendstream) and facebook (downloadable from market) just slaves the synced info from that.

HTCFacebook is the syncing i have yet to find a decent app that syncs facebooks contacts as well ... syncmypix is good but nothing like HTCfacebook ... and im coming from a Blackberry world where they do is great ... we get Yetis rom syncing contacts with facebook and its the best... i love vanilla android ... i have no clue why companies want to overlay there bloatware on top ... ie HTC Sense and MotoBlur
The syncing worked great on my motodroid. The thing is that the version of facebook available for download on market for incredible is downloading on top of HTCFacebook, so in essence you are really using both (this in stock incredible). I'm sure as more roms become available, since we are in early stages of custom roms, that this will be addressed.

That tutorial is for yager rom which still has alot of sense on it and i would imagine those steps would work for most of the roms out there that still have sense i actually tried doing that with Yeti's rom and it caused a boot loop ... im talking about trying to get facebook to sync properly with "vanilla" android ie no sense at all

What is actually happening and how to solve?
depends on whether the theme is compatible with the rom anot. some theme is not compatible with some roms.

you need to state what you have running such as rom, kernel, apps, tweaks, lagfixes etc, what theme you applied and the methods used, before anyone can assist you.
Sorry don't mean to hijack the thread but this happened to me too with your Black Android theme v3.5....
I actually had it working but flashed another theme to try and then tried to go back to Black Android and FC's like the OP.
Flashed with CWM, Speedmod 13C, no lagfix, 1st 3 tweaks (or not, tried both), I used a Doc kitchen rom JS5 based and tried both wipe and no-wipe, tried clearing caches...
Thought it was me but other themes work... Odd cuz it worked at first...

Recently I rooted my phone and flashed MrGarak's MIUI 1.4.29 v.4: Freshly Squeezed edition (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970196) onto my phone.
I synced my Google contacts as well as my facebook ones onto my phone.
Before I added the facebook contacts I added my Gfs number which was fine, I could edit her contact on the list etc. All was good.
However after I added the facebook contacts, every time i wish to add a number or edit a contact (facebook ones that is) I get a FC message which tells me that android.process.acore isn't working.
Everything else works perfectly fine.
Is there a way to fix this?

Make sure you are using the most up to date version of the Facebook app. The previous version had a bug causing a lot of force close errors.

i was had the same problem when i was tested some miui roms in my DESIRE and my DHD
My problem was not solved until i was reflashed the roms... but before i did a full wipe(fact reset, cache & dalvik) and did formats that are in the "mounts and storage paragraph (into CWM)then i was flashed miui again and did "wipe batery status...

Also try a "Fix Permissions" from recovery/ROM Manager.
Hey guys, wondering if anyone can help me out. I'm finished inserting translated *.xml-s into *.apk-s in the 1.9.9 MIUIAndroid ROM, compiled etc, but it's producing a com.android.inputmethod.latin FC :/ I triple checked the xml-s in LatinIME.apk, they should be fine. I switched the language back to english, the but FC still persists every time I need keyboard, and recurring even if I don't try to use it.
I replaced the LatinIME.apk from another 1.9.9 ROM, the FC persists. Everything else works fine.
"stock" miuiandroid 1.9.9 doesn't procude this issue.
Can anyone provide me with some sort of hint? Like, where else should I look for the root of the problem?
Excellent ROM, really enjoying it. Best battery life on this one =)
However, I'm hoping someone can help me with a couple of things:
Is there a way to run AOSP Calendar on this? I removed Sense, and installing gapps package or CalendarProvider.apk separately still doesn't register it in the system. Anybody know how to make it work?
QuickSettings - installing latest from the thread link mentioned in the OP doesn't work. Tried flashing it several times, cleared cache/dalvik cache - still no QS for me. Is it not compatible with this ROM? Then why is it mentioned?
