I rooted my desire with unrevoked a while back, used alpharev to get s-off then flashed oxygen rom with data2ext then added on top.
I want to go back to the stock rom, for which I have a nandroid backup taken after originally rooting. Can I simply use clockwork recovery to restore? Will I still have s-off and can I reflash data2ext back on top of the restored backup?
First you need to change back to the bravo 1.5 partition layout. Then you should be able to restore the nandroid, you won't lose S-off. No idea if data2whatever is gone work.
Technically you don't have to change the MTD as this will be reset when you flash the RUU. Best to do it in case, though

The way I read his post he does not want to run a RUU but just nandroid back to a stock rom. Then you do need to change back other wise the nandroid won't fit.

Thanks for your comments so far - can you explain (or give me a suitable link) that explains what I need to do to 'change back'?
Never mind,I thought you flashed the oxygen hboot, which you didn't. You can just restore the nandroid.

Currently I have a rooted DHD, with RADIO S OFF, and running a gingerbread build.
I am curious as to how I would go back to fully stock? Like how I bought it with no traces of any messing around with it.
Nothing happened to my phone and I love my rooted device, just wondering in case I want to sell it or if I need to bring it in for physical damages.
Thanks!

Do you know where i can get this from?
Although if you want to get back to 100% stock you will also need to reverse radio s-off. You do have your partition 7 backup safe I hope.

How do you restore the partition 7 backup?
Good question I need to know the same thing.

With Clockwork recovery 3.x, although slightly flaky at the moment so you first need to reflash your gingerbread rom, then boot into recovery, go to backup / restore and use advanced option to restore /data
So just to make this clear.
1. Flash RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_ 26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed
2. Boot into recovery and restore the partition 7 backup?
3. Everything back to normal?
What about S-OFF and Radio S-OFF?

Flashing the RUU will deal with S-OFF as it will replace the bootloader, radio S-OFF you would need to revert yourself, the RUU will also replace the recovery partition with stock so simplest thing would be to backup apps and data with Titanium (also backup sms with sms backup or similar) flash RUU then boot into ROM set up all the google stuff then install Titanium again and restore apps and data, you will not be able to restore system data without introducing some instability in the system though.
I believe dr.mox was suggesting you backup the cm7 partition should you wish to come back to gingerbread.
No I mean if you want to go back to 100% stock including removing radio s-off, you will need the partition 7 backup which the easy radio off tool generates. The easy tool also removes s-off but you need the backup.

My SD card managed to go BOOM before i got to copy a backup of my P7 files,

Maybe this could help you get Radio S-on

I'm sending my phone in to warrant repair tomrorow, I'm with orange got the phone about a week ago.
I'm going to flash the stock rom from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846248
its an RUU, after that i will use visionary to temp root and then set radio to s-on with that tool i linked above. After all that i will hardreset and keep the micro sd card. Will they know that i rooted/s-off my phone? Anything else i should look into doing?
I'm using leedroid 1.4.1 and i've updated to Buzz 1.1.4 kernel. However, i didn't update my radio before that
I've tried using the easy s-off to achieve eng s-off so that i can flash my radio to the recommended one. However, the easy s-off tool is apparently not compatible with my current ROM/Kernel
is there any way around this? my battery is really quite bad and i hope that by flashing a new radio, my battery will improve.
Hope some expert can help me!!

you can flash a radio from recovery, but the .img has to be packaged up in the .zip correctly, maybe you should pm someone with more knowledge about this, i also have only radio s-off and would like to know
If I had known better..I wld have done the Eng s-off before I did the flashing of the firmwares.
No idea that radio will be necessary to update..
You can reflash a custom rom with 1. 32 base and then you can attempt to achieve eng s-off. Do not forget to nandroid prior of reflashing so you can revert back to Lee's 1.4.1.

oh..do i just flash as per normal or would i have to downgrade using the method as in this thread?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
Mine is already rooted so i should be able to just flash 1.32, get eng s-off and then come back to 1.4.1?
When you say revert back to 1.4.1, does it mean that i just run recovery after i've achieved eng s-off and i can go back to 1.4.1?

Exactly that
what about downgrading to 1.32? just flash?
As long as you are rooted your real base is 1.32. You do not have anything to downgrade. You just flash a 1.32 custom rom. When i say revert i mean the nandroid backup that you create from recovery.
After finishing the s-off just boot into recovery and select backup/restore and then select restore. After it finishes restoring it will be againn at Lees 1.4.1

i used modaco r2 to go back to 1.32 and tried to s-off. it says successful. after which, i restored nandroid and tried to flash the radio. it still doesnt work..get stuck at the sending radio part.
did i do something wrong?
1. Nandroid backup
2. Go back to 1.32
3. Radio S-off
4. Flash radio
5. Recover nandroid
thanks..i'll try to do that when i have access to ADB..in office at the moment.

If u have made a nandroid backup u can do a nandroid restore to return back to stock.
And if u havent done, then u can flash rooted official roms (=safe zip files. NOT RUUs).
U can find them here under section 5:

Reboot to custom recovery and explore it. U will see the option to nandroid backup.
Edit: Nandroid backup done from a stock rom only returns to stock rom. I hope u know that.
Nandroid backup done from a particular rom can restore to that particular rom only.

Like i said If u have made nandroid backup when u r on stock rom, then that nandroid restore will get back u to that stock rom. And yes along with all the apps previously installed. U can also back up those 3rd party apps only.
And remember before nandroid restore, factory reset / wipe data / wipe cache needed. All can be done from the recovery itself.

If you run into problems (There are some version of 1.01.0002 that doesn't work), you will have to downgrade to 1.01.0001. Guide here:

I was astounded that it (AlphaRevX) worked. I was literally only two days away from paying out a big sum of cash for the use of an XTC Clip from some guy in the city centre. I was so happy, and with the help of the lovely people here on XDA Developers and the AlphaRev IRC I was able to make it happen.
Apparently I was one of the first thirty people in the public beta. I was very happy indeed. Personally, I recommend AlphaRevX for all users. It's very fast indeed, and powerful, and I'm loving the freedom.
I have Clockwork recovery, and was wondering how to go back to stock recovery if ever needed (such as sending for repair).
Will the RUU remove Clockwork recovery and replace it with the HTC recovery?
Thanks
Yes indeed it will.
Great thanks, just needed to clear that up in advance lol
RUU does not remove Eng S-OFF and Radio S-OFF, right?

I'm selling my DInc on eBay in a few days (upgrading to the Galaxy Nexus). It's currently running CM7 - I plan to give the buyer the option of a stock phone or a rooted phone with CM7 (as an aside, is this a good idea, or should I just sell it stock?). So I need to make sure I know how to return it to stock if necessary.
I found a very detailed and seemingly clear procedure over on another forum (I hope I'm allowed to link to it here, if not I apologize), but I just want to make sure of a couple of things.
1. The 2.3.4 PB31IMG.zip I downloaded (from here) contains a radio as well as the ROM. It's the same radio I'm already running (2.15.10.07.07) - am I ok to flash this over what I currently have, since it's the same baseband?
2. Will this also return recovery to stock (I have CWM recovery), or is that something I have to do in a separate step? If I have to do it separately, in what order do I do it - before I return it to S-ON using Unrevoked or after? Before flashing PB31IMG.zip or after?
3. Finally, in addition to CM7, my phone has the EXT4 4 All mod installed (/data and /cache are formatted ext4 instead of ext3), do I need to be concerned about this?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

Yes it is ok to flash the ruu even though it contains the same radio.
Flashinh an ruu will install the stock recovery. You will wany to flash the s-on tool on the unrevoked forever site before doing an ruu.
First you have to flash thru hboot the froyo 2.15.00.07.28 radio.
Then flash the s-on tool thru recovery.
Then do the ruu.
Thats it the phone is complete stock again, remember to format the emmc and sdcard before selling.
The ext 4 mod is not an issue if returning to stock, as it will be overwriten by the ruu. If the buyer wants it rooted i would still go in to recovery wipe everything in mounts and storrage and then flash a fresh rom.

Thanks for your response - it's very helpful. I have one question though -- why do I have to flash the Froyo 2.15.00.07.28 radio if I'm doing a Gingerbread 2.3.4 RUU that already has a later radio (2.15.10.07.07) included?
Don't worry, I'll definitely wipe everything and flash a fresh copy of CM7 if the buyer wants it rooted!

You have to go to the 07.28 radio to go s-on. Both unrevoked and the s-on tool require that radio to function properly. But then when you flash the ruu it will go back to 07.07

No problem. Also even if they want it stock you could just leave it s-off and flash the ruu. This would make it stock rom / recovery but much much simpler for them to root if they would so choose in the future.
U probably would get more money leaving it rooted with cm7
