got myns rom adn updated everything i needed to..
flashed a couple kernels and now the original stock market that came with myns (the black themed one) is gone and im back to the cheesy green normal one -_-
anyone know a way to get it back to the cool black one??
thanks in advance!
It updates while it is updating stock apps.
go to mikfroyo's rom thread and get his custom market, it's the updated version and won't go back to the cheesy green one. flash it through recovery.
that's what i use.
well that just sucks.. but thanks either way man..

If you want myns market back, use root explorer or es file manager to disable market updater, located in system/app. Name it market updater.bak. that will disable it, and stop the market from updating itself. Then go to menu/settings/applications/manage applications. Then go to the 'all ' tab. Find the market. Click uninstall updates. Problem solved.

Hey guys can you tell me if I am running the latest stuff to run Myns Rls5? I installed and flashed it but when it finishes and I can unlock my Evo it goes to the HTC white screen and stays there... any suggestions? Here is a screen shot of what I am currently running.
I did this last night. Easiest way is this:
Flash this:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/9a1ju....00.11.19_WiMAX_27167_R01_PRI_NV_1.90_003.zip
^^That will update your Radio, WiMax, PRI, and NV all at the same time. After you flash it, it will ask you to reboot. Let it reboot. When it comes back up you will see a phone graphic on a gray/black background. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR PHONE. It is flashing the radio. Your phone will reboot into recovery once it's done. When you're back in recovery, Flash Myn's ROM. Then you should be good to go from there.
I forgot to add. Wipe EVERYTHING before flashing the ROM.
Well you are up to date on the firmware side. But how are you installing this(amo-ra or CWM) ?

I dont know why people use clockwork when so many have trouble with it. amo-ra is just as easy to use.
I am installing through ROM manager. is this the wrong way ? And should I install the radios from the link in my first reapond? By the way you guys are faster than anything!! Thanks for the quick responds!

ROM Manager is just bloatware. Download Quickboot from the market. I use that to quickly get into recovery or bootloader.
Yes, use the link i provided. It will flash all the firmware upgrades you need (radio, pri, nv, wimax).

Go to the bottom of ROM Manager. What do you see listed as your Recovery?
By you using rom manager, you are using CWM, don't use it; just download it to your sd card and install it like that, but make sure to use Amo-ra.
I hate when people don't provide references from where they got the links so here is the thread for the firmware upgrade i provided. You can download from here (the combo) to make sure it's safe.

A little off topic, but was wondering if someone could quick answer my question. I have been using this ROM for a couple of weeks, and also using Riptides theme, I tried using my hdmi yesterday and it didn't work. Just wondering if it is disabled with this Rom? Appreciate if someone could answer this with out having to look for or start a new post. Thanks

Some people have been having problems. My suggestion would be to make a nandroid backup, flash the ROM without any mods and test whatever you want to test. If it works without any mods, then you know that your mods are causing the problem. I personally have never used the hdmi out so i can't test this myself.
So I just tried to update CWM via Rom Mgr. I was using 2.5.1.0. Rom Mgr supposed downloaded & updated me to version 3.0.1.4. Is that even a real version?? I thought 3.0.0.6 was the newest. Then when I booted to recovery from Rom Mgr, it shows that I'm still using 2.5.1.0. But when I boot back to system & open Rom Mgr, it shows 3.0.1.4. Good times...not. Apparently I guess I shouldn't use Rom Mgr to update CWM! lol
All I want to is update. Is it ok to just install a newer version over an old one or should I uninstall the old one first? I can't find any info covering this.
Thanx all.
Rom manager does not flash cwm for the epic. The kernel doesn't support it. If you want to upgrade use the one click root with cwm. Rom manager is honestly useless at this point. I hope I helped u out.

Lol, that figures. Even tho Epic4G is in the drop-down list for choices. Thanx for the reply. Yeah, I used one click root when I installed CWM 2.5.1.0. So is it ok to install a new version right over the top of an old one?
Yes it is.

hey everyone, I had clockwork recovery, which I wanted to get rid of. I got the stock recovery.img from htc vision wiki and flashed it using adb. but when i go to rom manager it still says current recovery:clock work. I cant even flash any alternate recovery in rom manager, because the option is not highlighted. I am just wondering is there any reason why i am unable to flash the stock recovery. Or is there anther recovery that I can download, and maybe try and flash that. Any help will be appreciated. thank you in advance.

RM might be lieing to you since that header is meant to show you what CWM you have installed and what the latest CWM is. Try booting into recovery from the bootloader and see what's there.

Pretty sure the OP is asking how to flash stock recovery or something other than clockworkmod.
My question is why? You don't have to flash newest cwm 5.X(you can flash older versions in RM) and there is a thread toget back to complete stock in dev section.
No alternate recoveries besides stock and cwm

thanks for the replies guys. no i flashed the stock recovery through adb. it sucks there is only stock or cwm. anyways the reason i was trying to get back to stock recovery is that i know gingerbread is already or will be available for htc desire z. and when it is rooted i want to upgrade to it. but i cant upgrade if i have cwm. and i dont like the modified rom people have. any ideas?
never mind, you were right. rm was lieing. crap my phone get factory reset. i wasnt expecting that....could have warned me -_- anyways i am guessing now i can update. btw if i update, then download clockwork. can i restore to my nandroid, which will have the 2.2?

It's already available for the G2 so it should be available for the DZ as well. Check the ROMs thread in the sticky, there's probably already a rooted version out that you could flash with CWM.

You can definitely flash a pre-rooted 2.3 DZ build when you have CWM recovery lol.

You have to unroot, get back to a fully stock setup, THEN take the OTA.
I have absolutely no idea why you would do this though. You can get any number of 2.3.3+ based ROMs, both stock and modified, that can just be flashed via recovery. You can be on the latest build and keep your root. Why go through all the hassle to unroot and upgrade when you could just keep root?

Not sure which apps youre referring to that aren't going to work in Canada... anything you use on your current ROM probably works on the 2.3 rooted Sense based ROMs lol.
The DZ is the G2 in the USA, and has completely different firmware. It doesn't have HTC sense. So you probably won't find many HTC Sense based ROMs that are "for the u.s." as you put it...
People like Virtuous unity. Its 2.3 based Sense with some Sense 3.0 flares. There are also a few stock pre-rooted OTA DZ builds out there. Go take a look in the dev section. If you like Sense, there are plenty of options for this device.
no i meant the rom that i will get has some apps that dont work in canada. anyways, what do you think is the best sense based rom with 2.3? post a link if possible. thanks.

I don't use Sense (don't like it) and I wouldn't wanna make a recommendation because I'm not very versed on them.
There are several options, I suggest you try them all and choose which you like. Lots of people like Virtuous Unity.
which tends to crash more? miui or virtuous unity?
So I am currently running ACS ICS v5.1 and will be needing to switch my Epic to a completely new Sprint account/number etc.
Will I need to revert back to stock ROM for this process, or can I stay on the custom ROM?
Would appreciate any insight into this matter. Thanks!!
No, as long as the needed files have not been removed like Sprint_app_updater and Sprintandroidextensions and probably devicemanagement.apk.

Yes. You can either ask what was removed in the thread or download the file, open it in Windows explorer and look in the system/app folder for the apps you need. If you like that ROM, we can get you what you need. I have the stock deodexed ROM that has all the stock apps in it. Or I just found this:

I have a rooted Epic 4g touch with build GINGERBREAD.EL29. I want to put a different rom on the phone. When I research I finding a lot of CWM. SO I went to the market and typed in clockworkmod recovery, and it gave me rom manager. I installed this; then flashed clockworkmod recovery 5.027. so I told it to boot in to recovery. All it did what show the little android dude with a yellow triangle, and exclamation mark inside. So then I went straight in to recovery, and there was not an option for the back up to sd as I been seeing. So what am I doing wrong? Did I install the wrong app? Do I need to have the paid version to make it work?

Which ROM are you going for and have you ran root checker, from the market (play store) to verify you're rooted?
Did you use SFHUB's one-click rooted el29 then use autoroot+CWM/?
All ROM's that I've tried have step by steps on getting installed and some with videos.
It would just help knowing where you're trying to go to try and answer your questions..

Don't use Rom Manager on this phone. It doesn't play well together. Go into developement section and read the roll up sticky section at the top of the development thread. They will guide you through what you need.

Thanks for the link to autoroot+CWM. As far as roms go I am not sure. There are just so many. I like the look of the wicked sensations, and I kinda like the cynogenmod. In the research I have been doing I been seeing that if I goto the cynogenmod; I would need to goto the 7 before I goto the 9. Is this true? Also where can I find how to put an overclock zImage kernel?

I personally run Wicked on my daily use. But it's all matter of personal preference and what the Dev's tastes are.
As DazedNConfused suggested, start here. There is a maintained list of ROMS.
As for the CyanogenMod 9, alpha5 - There is a detailed installation guide on the first page, first post. Be sure to read and follow every step.
Good Luck and don't rush it!!
:Edit: I forgot on the over/under clock question - Personally I have read mixed statements - Some say it works, others say it pointless.. All I can suggest is definitely research that more before attempting.

One more thing. I am about to take the plunge to Wicked Sensations 1.4 with FF18. I watched the video on how to install. He said to back up your system with titanium back up or what ever you have. I do not believe cwm will do selective restore that titanium will do.
My suggestion is to NOT restore apps that are already present in any custom roms, only those that are missing. But once you do that, I wouldn't bug the developer if you start having issues within the rom. Hope that makes sense.
If I were you, I'd make a backup of how you like the phone as its all working for you BEFORE you make changes w custom roms.
Get TB, and try selective restoring and see how it works for you.
And, as always, don't rush, read all suggested directions and Good Luck!
