[Q] Running Android on Samsung Omnia 7 - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

Hello there,
I like my new "different kind of phone", but, it's quite empty, and boring right now while it's only released.
Does anyone have information if it's possible to boot android on Samsung Omnia 7?
Thanks!

sure...
not happening now. Enjoy wp7

BUMP
Would also be interested in this. The Omnia 7 is a great phone, but the OS is not up to the job as yet so giving users the option to flash with Android would be cool, are you telling me no one is looking into this project as yet?
cheers
M.

I highly doubt it

Why.... Theres been a few phones that run WM that have had android flashed to them such as the HTC-HD2. the only question is will someone do it

Please read the rules. Thread closed.

Maybe we should ask the extremely talented chefs we have in this forum (ookba, Alekss and many others) and see if they are thinking in bringing a new rom to the table.
They won´t tell you what´s next...
They will simply make it available to all of us when "what´s next" is ready
Let´s support them and XDA with a small donation!
I´ll stay with WM for now...
Android! Android! Android!
wishful thinking
Android really could happen: there are a lot of good people trying to get it going on OMAP 850 devices. Please, if you think you can help in any way, check out Wing-linux https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki, things really are getting closer
android or winmo7?
android still need the missing drivers. however found a website news bout winmo7 that microsoft developers are using devices such touch pro, touch HD and Tmobile dash as a test beds for the new OS. just dont sure if the info from that site is reliable. but theres a screenshot of the dash running wm7 i guess.
well guys in moving onto the android software and will port over anything needed.

Buying Android - "upgrading" to WinMo

Hi,
as I've grown to HATE HTC and their products now, I was thinking about getting an android phone with the specs to run Win Phone 7 when it's released, but...How would wiping this and replacing the OS work? Anyone got any thoughts?
Cheers!

What the... WP7S isn't anywhere near a beta or leaked or anything and you're asking a question like that?
Come on man... Think about it... How could anyone know the answer? Very silly question. There is no information on anything to do with any aspect of installing WP7S and you want to know how to put it on an Android phone? Have you seen how hard people are working and how unbelievably hard Android is to get working on a WindowsMobile device? Obviously not otherwise you wouldn't be asking the above.
Tsk tsk. Sorry for the shoot down but this is a but of a waste of a thread dude.
EDIT: I find it humorous that you say you HATE HTC yet they are the only ones with an Android handset with enough power to meet WP7S's minimum specs haha.

if you want HD2 for only reason to upgrade to WP7 then I'd suggest to wait until it's available (maybe other WP7 are available earlier, or HD2 doesn't get an update)
wait.. you want to buy and android phone and then 'upgrade' to wp7? Just get the android phone, and then sell it when wp7 hits.
the internet. It's real life.

WP7 port

hey is there any chance that windows phone 7 will be ported to the htc desire?
It's already done for the htc hd2 and the hardware of the desire and hd2 are really similar to each other. Android is a really great os better than ios in my opinion and I don't want ios running on my desire else I would have bought an iphone in the first place, but anyway running windows phone 7 on my android device as a second os is what I think not bad isn't it?
I mean wp7 is smooth as hell and I would love to try wp7 out.
soo will there be a port of wp7 to the htc desire?
i feel sorry for you man. my prediction is you will be atacked by atleast 100 people
I was going to ask the same question. I'd really like to see WinPh 7 running on my Desire, possibly a dual boot hehe

lol I know what you mean xD but still if I had the knowledge to port it I would have done it even if the os isn't as good as android I sill would have because it has the abilty to run it so why not? (I mean hardware wise)
This has already been asked, infact it's currently on page 2 of this forum.

[Q] HTC HD2 and WP7

The HTC HD2 can now dual boot android and windows phone 7. I know that the hardware of the two phones are near-identical. Would it be possible to port WP7 to the Evo as well? If so, is anyone doing so?
btw: Don't flame, this is a specifically development related question; I only want your input if you have something relevant to say.

ha, you can put meego, ubuntu, winmo 6.5, win7, and android 2.3(?) on it...its ridiculous lol
you are in the wrong section, yes you want a developers input but you are asking a question about a WM phone in an Android rom section......
now think whats going to happen........
Despite his subject line, his question is about the Evo... however, I think the Q&A section would be a better place for this thread.
This has been asked about 5 or so times in this section(dev, but looks like its been moved).. unfortunately .... and has been trolled into oblivion.
please search before littering.. Im not trying to put you down.. but putting WINMO7 on the EVO is like asking to put a lawn mower engine in a Ferrari.. why hinder the performance.
and even mentioning WINMO here is blasphemous .. Just saying..
Sorry to bump an old thread, but with the leaked Sprint 'Gold' (HTC 7 Pro) WP7 ROM on the net and the HD2 working pretty well, are we any closer to a possible EVO WP7?

No...
1) No one has said they are working on it.
2) I'm sure XDA would not allow it on the site due to Microsoft license (before you ask, it isn't license for our phone. Like swype can only be included in roms that it comes stock in)
Well I knew nobody was working on it, I was just curious about the possibility. I figured the licensing would be a touchy issue, but I honestly wasn't sure where exactly XDA stood in that regard considering the HD2 seems to have full support. Just curious, really.

forum for Samsung Jét GT-S8000/3

Can anyone Developer create the forum for Samsung Jét GT-S8000/3 in here xda..?
Samsung Jét looks same like Samsung Omnia II GT-I8000...
But Samsung S8000/3 is TouchWiz mobile (CPU 800MHz) and Samsung Jét can Run Android with JetQi Boot loader... (JetDroid)
it's nice if here xda-developers forum are forum for GT-S8000/3 ...
My Android Binaries for Samsung Jét:
code.google .com/p/android-for-jet/
and videos of my Android binaries is in youtube: CarlosJacksonHD
Heya!
Since i had a samsung JET(my touch screen is screwed due to some "pressure" with another phone inside my pocket), i was reading abt jetdroid, but never came across any conclusion about it. is that already possible, i mean, would that worth fixing it? speed, functions and everything? By your video, i noticed that it already works, but worth it?
Hello, I'm sorry for bringing up this dead topic. I would like to know if there has been a progress in this? Thanks!
Still waiting for Jetdroid...
I like my S8000 but the Samsung custom OS on it is too limited and they stopped support (updates) very early.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using XDA

@Exnor I also like my S8000 very much, but I don't think so many people are interested in Jetdroid project.
Actually, it is very well described and easy to find in internet (although, unfortunatelly not on the XDA site). Did you install CM7 on your S8000?

Hi,
I've tried a early port and ride along with it since i've stop using my s8000 :/ in favor of my Galaxy nexus...
Its really sad to see such a good phone not getting more support ... the Jét still have a more decent hardware than the low end Android phones.
Thanks for the tip
Old good S8000 Jet
@Exnor I know what you mean, I have also been using my Galaxy S i9000 last two years But I want to revive it as my second phone again now.
Flashing the S8000 and upgrading it with Android OS is a real adventure with running Ubuntu in virtual box etc.
One of the guys who is still actively working on the Jetdroid project attends to build in the close future the ROM which uses linaro! It would give to old, good S8000 a real Jet speed.
There is also a CM10.2 ROM uploaded less than 2 weeks ago, look here:
