I tried to update my HTC Desire HDs software, but after ~25% it stios and i receive an error (NOT rooted device) anyone can help me?
Try download latest RUU rom and flash with USB, but You lose all data files and settings from memory phone.
any idea without flashing new rom?

Like quite a few people my desire started having the "random reboot" issue and I have decided to send it to HTC for repair. For this purpose I have also decided to restore the device to its original condition and ran an RUU on the device. Since my device is unbranded (as far as I know, I bought it SIM free in the UK) I have chosen the following RUU:
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.5_Radio_32.49.00. 32U_5.11.05.27_release
After the program finished I ended up with a device that does not boot (stays on the green HTC logo). I can see that the HBOOT version changed to 0.93 (originally was 0.75).
I am completely stuck. I can not run older RUUs because it gives and error regarding the newer HBOOT, I can not run unrevoked or even access the device using adb. What can I do to save the device?
How long did you leave it on the HTC logo? Can take a good 5 minutes to boot after flashing a stock ROM
I had a similar problem yesterday after installing Cyanogen.
I fixed it by reinstalling the rom.

Hi,
Im looking at selling my desire and need to unroot it.
I have download a tmobile RUU, tried to run it but i always get
the
error 170 - usb connected failed.
I have htc synced installed on my pc, it sees my desire and comes up with normal stuff, and on my phone it says connected.
Im on hboot 0.93 , android 2.3.3 software version 3.14.405.1
its a t mobile branded desire. Anybody have any ideas?

found solution - 2 infact.
Firstly i could do it straight from bootloader menu, (i.e. load up into bootload, plug in usb then work)
And for htc sync i just unistalled and reinstalled and worked.
Please i need someone to assist me on how to repair my HTC desire via memory card? i have tried to update it with "RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade" but its always stop at some different percentage. I even download some ROMs still could not complete the restoration. now i felt using memory card would be better.

Hello Friends,
I recently was fed up of my ROM so i updated it with the RUU and it went fine, but then i did software update from device ( OTA update) once and then it worked fine, then again i updated it once as it was showing one update but after that second update it did not receive the signal and my phone became dead as far as signal was considered. after that i tried to run again RUU to restore it back but it shows error that uncorrect RUU version. I tried installing other custom ROM but it stucks now and i am waiting at bootloader in wait of your help.
My details of phone are
Device : HTC One V CDMA Virgin Mobile
HBOOT 1.57.000
RADIO 1.00.00.0928

Hi, Hope someone can help. My nan has an old HTC desire running Android 2.2, WhatsApp will now no longer work with anything before 2.3
How can I get this updated to 2.3 (or higher) please ??
I've tried RUU, but it gets to waiting bootloader on PC, then the bootloader appears on the phone but I get the disconnected USB error 171 everytime ??
is there another way to update to 2.3 or above ??
Or how can I get passed the error 171 ??
