I flashed this file and after wards every time that I tried to boot it would go to hboot. Someone suggested flashing a custom rom. I flashed fresh and thought this fixed my problem but it would just bootloop the fresh splash screen. nand restores say that they are successful but I still can not get past hboot or the fresh splash screen. PLEASE HELP!
I'm assuming you're talking about this PC36IMG.zip from this thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7978758#post7978758
If so, it seemed to work fine for me...make sure you're flashing the one in post #18 not the OP.
the only thing I can guess is to make sure you wipe your cache and dalvic before flashing the rom and/or restoring a nand backup.
I had flashed fresh 3.2 and I flashed the pc36img file and I didn't even need to flash the rom again or my nand backup.
I would pull the battery, boot to bootloader, check what hboot you have to see if the pc36img flashed correctly, then go into recovery and make sure the recovery updated to 1.8 (look at the bottom of the screen in recovery), then do a factory data reset, wipe data twice, wipe dalvic twice, and then try to restore your backup and report back.
You mention you cant get past hboot or the fresh flash screen. Do you mean fresh's boot animation?
when I've flashed fresh roms the boot animation usually is on for about 5 minutes before it proceeds. Make sure you're waiting long enough once you get to that point.
Hi everyone,
I need some help. I recently rooted by HTC Desire and loaded Froyo. Everything has been working perfectly. That is until I tried to run a system update.
Firstly, I got the error "cannot verify file-signature", so I renamed the update to SDCARD: update.zip and ran this from the recovery screen.
The update seemed to run fine, until I was asked to reboot the phone... now it's stuck it a constant boot cycle only getting as far as the splash screen.
Can anyone help me ?
If you rooted your phone than don't do system updated scan.
Did you make a nandroid backup after you rooted your phone?
Have you tried rebooting in recovery mode and wipe cache and wipe data/factory and then flash your phone with the rom again?
Could also try just wipeing cache.
If that dosen't work you might have to format the sd card but i wouldn't jump to doing that and if you do that you should mount your sd card via recovery mode and take the data ther you don't want to lose, like your nandroid backup and other stuff.
If not i would try that before you do it you should nandroid backup your phone!
Wiping all user data won't make a difference. A factory reset will remove all data form the data partition but sysyem stays the same, and that is where the problem is.
If you get the signature verification failed it can mean two things. Either the file was not singed or it was singed but got corrupted/changed. What where you trying to flash?
If you can still boot in to recovery, reflash a rom (with a full wipe) you still have on the sd or mount you sd as mass storage and copy a new rom to the sd.
Just in case, to do a factory reset, choose the "CLEAR STORAGE" option which can be found under the HBOOT menu.. That's what I did when my phone kept getting stuck in a bootloop once, I also did a full wipe + dalvik cache wipe, and then flashed the ROM and it worked.
I cannot do a factory reset. I tried it... same issue. The boots to the flash screen, then gets stuck in a loop. Screen off, vibrate/flash screen on, screen off, vibrate/splash screen on, etc, etc.
Looks like I'll need to do something a little more drastic. Re-flash perhaps ?
Yes, you can try without wiping if you want to keep your data but best thing is a full wipe and reflash.
Am haveing the same problem thinking i unrooted my desire and istalled froyo rom did up date.
My problem seems to be little more then just reboot loop i get red triangle at recovery Fake flash didnt help.
Any ideas?
Oh please, give a solution! on this problem!
I've done the same update and got into a boot loop.
The problem is, I can't get into the recovery menu to flash my backup.
And also tried to reflash the recovery, but Unrevoked won't recognize the phone.
WHAT SHOULD I DO??????
So you updated a rooted phone with an OTA update?
could you post more details.
eg. the rom you are using, the original rom that was on the phone, branded etc....

OK. It's a NOT branded Desire with original Android 2.2 (ROM version 2.10405...), HBOOT 0.93, etc. And yes, I have done system update after Unrevoked rooting (I know it's a mistake)
Any ideas?
download this..
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
boot your phone into fastboot - power and BACK button.
connect to pc.
your phone should display FASTBOOT USB.
run the exe you downloaded as administrator and with any antivirus turned off.
wait...
done...
this will put your phone back to stock and will wipe everything but not your sdcard.
let us know how you get on

Thanks, I've already got that answer. Now trying to download the RUU with my poor connection.....
by the way, do I need a sim in the phone during this process?
I don't think it matters.

Just finished flashing the stock rom. It's really the only way to bring the phone alive
So i was trying to install something on my phone and forgot to make a back up. Phone is stuck in boot loop any idea for a solution. I would love to have my phone running again lol.
Take out battery. Put it back in. Boot into hboot by pressing power and volume down button simultaneously until you see hboot screen. From there boot into recovery. In recovery go into mounts and storage and mount SD card to PC. Download any Tom and move it to SD card. Then unmount from PC and then unmount SD card on phone. Go back to main recovery menu and flash the Tom zip after wiping data, cache, dalvik. Reboot.

The only thing I'd add from recent experience is to use a ROM that you know should be compatible with your Clockwork Recovery. I tried Incredibly Re-Engineered Z with CW 3.0.0.5 and got a boot loop (looks like issue has been fixed in the ROM). But since it was my wife's phone and I needed a ROM by the morning, I tried Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo but it didn't install. I found that I had to downgrade my CW to 2.5.1.2 and everything installed perfectly.
Here's the deal. I got a new 16GB sd card, copied everything over (including hidden files) and it worked fine for about two hours. Then the screen went black but the LED and soft buttons stayed lit. I did a Clockwork recovery (with a version that I've used successfully before) but it couldn't find SD-EXT so it would boot up to the red Droid "eye" thing (right before loading the homescreen) and then just keep showing that animation.
So I put the old card back in, tried again, and it still couldn't find the SD-EXT file so I've got a phone now which is stuck at this animation.
My question is, can I just boot into Clockwork and install Cyanogen (because I couldn't find a DINC custom recovery file anywhere) from a zip on the SD and have everything start working again? Don't want to mess it up more than it already is.
Unless you have made an SD-EXT partition, it will give that "error" in recovery. Its not actually messing anything up. I'm not sure why its bootlooping but you can try wiping data and cache then reboot or you can download a zip from www.dougpiston.com to take your phone back to stock.

I actually discovered that in further research after I posted.
Clearing the cache was a no-go so of DP's site should I go with PB31IMG or with one of his recovery images? I'm think of going with the one with CWM 2.5 on it.
I would try either doing a complete wipe and reflash of whatever rom you choose or you can use the PB31IMG.zip to get back to stock and flash a rom from there. Make sure you're doing a complete wipe as well (wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache) and do it manually in recovery, not with rom manager.

I tried to root my dhd with coredroid, and it dont start up. the coredroid logo comes but when is comes to homescreen it goes to coredroid logo again.
What can i do? i dont have a backup.
I can enter clockworkmod recovery an sd card.
Is it possible to download a back up from a nother dhd?
Wise.. Custom ROMs are always rooted, you do not need to root them again.
You probably broke something important. Just go to clockworkmod, do a wipe (factory reset / wipe data in main screen) and reflash your ROM from SD. There is too much hype around nandroid backups, because wipe + ROM flash has exactly the same effect.
