Hi all. Im having a strange problem with flashing roms. I am not new to this and have been problem free for a while. I went from fresh 3.4 to myns rls4. Then went to fresh 3.5 and tried to go back to myn from there. I use clockworkmod and recently updated to 3.0.0.0. I have tried flashing the roms in rom manager and by booting up in recovery. I was able to load a backup and am currently set up as follows:
unrevoked forever (used 3.21 before reading forever might fix this issue)
fresh 3.4
netarchy kernel
bootloader screen
supersonic evt3 ship s-off
hboot-0.97.0000
micro-041f
touch panel-atmelc03_16ac
radio-2.15.00.09.01
Heres what it says when I try to install any rom. All roms do and say the same thing.
clockworkmod recovery v3.0.0.0
installing
finding update package
opening update package
installing update...
installation aborted.
This is from flashing while in recovery using volume down and power button method. Any advice?

i think that clockwork 3.0 is causing problems
At OP: I Clockwork 3.0 appears to have some bugs. Hold on tight.
@aimbdd: You're not a mod, nor did you help at all (in answering the question or telling him what you did). You're actually FAR worse than he is. If you're not going to post something productive, please don't post.
On that note, this question should be in the Q&A section for future reference

How can i delete this thread?
I had to switch to RA to flash a new rom. I couldn't even downgrade to the clockwork recovery to 2.5. I was having the same problems as OP with Clockwork 3.0.0.0.

I had to do the same. I'm using RA as a result
Reading clockworkmods tweets it appears the new clockwork is only for the new hboot and doesn't work with the older hboots. Install amon ra 1.8 and you should be golden. You won't be able to use rom manager after you install aman ra.

OK here's my situation.
I bought the EVO back when it came out, then when 2.2 rolled out through sprint I did the OTA update. Shortly after that, I followed the 2-part video on youtube on rooting it, and I was successful.
I had some problems with the GMail app so I did the second OTA update (knowing I was going to lose root.) So here's my question. Do I need to go back and do the whole 2-part video on rooting my phone again? If so, how do I install the Custom ROM's listed on this site?
I've never did much with my evo until the 2-part rooting method on youtube, and I just followed the instructions.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
EDIT: when I followed the youtube video, I used Amon Ra recovery. I'm not sure if the latest OTA update affected that or not.
u need to root the phone using the latest method. try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828437
Just use unrevoked 3 one click root very simple
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
My security is off, here's what my phone says when I boot into HBOOT:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0.97.0000
MICROP-041f
TOUCH PANEL-ATMELC03_16ac
RADIO-2.15.00.09.01
Aug 19 2010, 14:29:08
But when I go to boot into recovery, I get a picture of a phone with a red exclamation mark next to it (I assume my Amon Ra recovery is either corrupt or missing, thanks to the last OTA update I did on my Evo)
I mean do I need to go through the whole rooting process over again, just as if I received a brand new Evo?
Just run unrevoked again so it can push a recovery image to your phone.

I got it. I actually decided to run Unrevoked before seeing those last 2 posts
The first try of unrevoked didn't work, had to run it a second time, and bingo.
I just installed EViO ROM, and I love it!
Now i have another quick question, say if i want to flash a custom boot animation or another lock screen, I do that exactly the same way as I flashed the ROM, correct?
Thanks for all your help, the members at XDA ROCK!

Yes everything is flashed through recovery. I always wipe cache and dalvik before flashing anything. Make sure you make some nandroid backups before you play around too much so you can recover quickly. Amon RA recovery is recommended over clockwork.
OK I'll install Amon Ra soon, that's what I had previously used in my first rooting experience. I did a Nandroid backup before I installed my first custom ROM, and I believe my radios and everything else are all up-to-date, so I don't think I should have any problems as far as that goes.
EDIT: Now I'm just looking for a stock 2.2 rooted ROM to restore to in case I decide to go back to stock again.
I flashed the new 3.0.0.2 with hboot .97 is there something I need to do to load into clockwork mod 3.0.0.2... 2.5 and ar 1.80 worked fine... im on a 3.70 rom.

ive flashed 3 different roms today using the latest cm recovery and havent had any issues that i noticed yet
yeah I can, but I want to see what the new clockwork is all about....
The new Clockwork ****ed up my Evo. I can't flash any other ROM except Fresh's. The ROM installs but then it hangs on the white Evo splash screen. I switched to AR and I still can't flash. Don't use CWM!

3.0.0.2 isn't meant to be run on your phone period. If you have hboot .97 the cwm is trying to flash using the wrong partition tables. Restore amom_ra 1.8 and it should be fine.
just got it to work.... flashed ar 1.8 then flashed 3.0.0.2 agin and now im backing it up now must have been a bad download.....
noob here I just rooted with unrevoked 3.3 all went great did a backup of nand from clockworks 3.0.0.2 worked like a champ. Should I switch to amonRa or am I ok.
Is is easy to do when clockwork is installed already.

my recommendation would be yes but use the correct amon_ra for your phone.
Went from Myn's Warm Z to CM7 to Myn's 2.2 RLS5. I can't seem to get the latest radio version to show.
After flashing 2.2 RLS5 and followed the steps below:
Downloads:
Download Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 5 (Mirror 1) (Mirror 2) - [MD5sum: ba1cc1aed1d8161e3429909470bd7eb4]
As this ROM now uses the latest official HTC Kernel (#15) you MUST update your Radio/Wimax. I recommend Calkulin's combo update which is available here or via direct download here.
Installation Instructions:
Download Rom and Radio/Wimax updates and place in the root of SDCard.
Reboot into Recovery.
Perform Nandroid backup
Minimally wipe dalvik and cache. For optimal experience, perform full wipe (data/dalvik/cache).
Flash the rom first.
Then the radio/wimax update. While the radios are flashing you'll see a little green arrow phone icon for a bit afterwords, Wait on this. You will then automatically be taken back to recovery.
Once back in recovery, reboot.
Enjoy
But after following those steps exactly, I check my baseband version and it is still on 2.15.00.09.01 instead of 2.15.00.11.19
Can anyone tell me where I may have gone wrong? Or any other suggestions?

i third that. i used clockwork just because it came with my root method (unrevoked) but after having edify issues i flashed to amon ra and havent looked back since. for some reason clockwork complicates something as easy as flashing a simple zip file where as amon ra just makes flashing a simple zip file easy.
Amon Ra is so much better IMO. I got nothin against CWM, but Amon Ra has been flawless for me.
Just for the sake of information. I flashed using that exact same method, using CWM, and everything went off w/o a hitch. However, after all these Amon Ra lovers, I kinda do want to check that out.
thanks for all of the suggestions everyone.
I ended up taking your advice and using Amon RA and it worked! Thanks again.
It is worth noting that when flashing the radios with CWM, I did not see the little green phone icon as described in the instructions. Which I am assuming means that I never REALLY flashed the radios. Although it did seem to flash it, and returned to the main menu of the recovery.
Flash the rom first.
Then the radio/wimax update. While the radios are flashing you'll see a little green arrow phone icon for a bit afterwords, Wait on this. You will then automatically be taken back to recovery.
Once back in recovery, reboot.
Only difference with Amon RA's was that after flashing the radio zip from the sd card, it instructed me to reboot in order to continue the installation of the radio zip.
Anyway, it worked, and thanks to everyone who replied.
Glad you got your issue resolved. I see your kinda new here. Proper forum protocol is to physically click the "Thanks" button for the people that helped you. Just a heads up.
i'm using an Evo for my work phone. It took a week to get it active and my number ported. i put a custom rom on it and i was too dumb to remember to make a nandroid backup. i need to update my data profile for the line to be active and i cannot do it from my current rom.
my bootloader shows "S-on"
i rooted with unrevoked 3.
im on a mac so using htc sync may be out of the question.
i tried using the PC36img.zip and i got an error message during one of the steps and it wouldnt revert me back to stock. i tried the steps on this page
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780141
and i get the error message "main version is older! Update fail!"
im quite familiar with android, rooting, flashing, etc but i have never had to revert back to stock (as i see it this is the only way to activate this phone through the "update profile" option under settings).
anybody have any help here? i need this phone first thing in the morning for work and if i cant make any calls im going to be screwed.
If you're rooted, you should be s-off. You should be able to flash a sense rom and update your PRL from there. Please go to the bootloader and tell me what it says so I can know where to go next.

You do NOT need to unroot for that. Download the STAND ALONE update here:

Put that on you zip card and flash it like you would any ROM (Backup your current ROM and apps if you want it). From that ROM you will be able to update your PRL and Profile.
Almost any other Sense ROM will work (NOT Sense 2.0).
i just downloaded and tried to flash "Supersonic_1.32.651.1_rooted.zip" and i got this message...
"amend script is no longer supported....installation aborted". i found the link to that rom on the official wiki as stock rom #7.

As the user above said, you can flash that, and update you profile. You can update your profile on any sense rom. You can't do it on AOSP roms [CM7, ect] and sense 2.0.
I'm assuming you're using Clockwork Recovery? It will work if you downgrade Clockwork to v2.5 or if you switch to Amon Ra 2.3:

You got that message because you're on clockwork 3.0+ and it only supports edify scripting, and you flashed an amend scripting file [not supported]. To fix: flash an older version of clockwork, or switch to amon_ra 2.3; I'll be floating by as well.

Bad download, try downloading again. If you downloaded from your phone, try it from a comp.
Or flash Amon Ra Recovery and the first ROM you downloaded.
This is the file download for Amon RA:
http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=PC36IMG.zip
Here are the instructions from the thread I linked:
Place PC36IMG.zip on the root of your sd card.
Boot the phone into the bootloader by powering the phone down, then press the power and the volume down buttons at the same time.
Once the phone boots into the bootloader the phone will automatically recognize the zip file. It will ask if you would like to update, select yes and let it do it's thing and you will be good to go
ill try redownloading sprint lover's stand alone rom. i tried loading pc36img.zip onto my sd card and booting into the boot loader and it says "checking" the blue bar on the upper right side fills up and it takes me back to the main bootloader screen. i also tried downgrading clockwork mod to the older version. the clockword mod app tells me it was successful but when i boot into my rcovery image its still the most recent one.
if all i need is a standard sense rom, does anyone have any others that will work with the newest clockwork mod? that might be the easiest way for me to go about this.
i downloaded sprint lover's rom again. this time i used one of the mirrors. placed it on my sd card. flashed again. flash was successful but got stuck in a boot loop. im going to head back into my recovery image and make sure i re-wipe everything just incase thats the issue...
Sounds like a good plan. Let us know what happens.
aaaaaand were up and running! i flashed and wiped so many times i must have forgotten to wipe again before that test run. the line is active and the rom is running smooth. thanks to everyone for the help.
my last question? if i flash any other roms down the road from tonight, i dont need to worry about updating my profile or anything correct? from what i've read thats only necessary when activating the line or performing manual updates? this is my first sprint android device ive been modding and tweaking tmobile android phones since the G1 and im still getting used to the changes!
thanks again everyone!
Glad you got it working. And occasionally, the PRL will get updated. Like now its 60677, next it'll be 60678...you'll see lots of threads on it. Then you would be on a sense rom, update, and do ONLY the profile update. Never accept an OTA while rooted...bad things will happen. If you're not on a sense rom [CM7 for example], you'd have to backup that rom, flash a sense rom, update, then flash back. I use CM7, and keep a backup on myn's 2.2 [sense] just for that purpose only, and takes all but 5 minutes.
I successfully rooted my phone a few days ago using the Revolutionary method and flashed ClockworkMod Recovery without a problem. Then I flashed CyanogenMod 7.1.0 again without a problem. I noticed my gps has been having an issue detecting my location so I figured I should flash the nandroid for my stock rooted android 2.3.3 rom and see if the issue still exists. My main problem is that I can't boot into recovery. Apparently I have the latest version of Clockwork. I try to boot into recovery using different methods and I keep ending up at the white screen that says 'Revolutionary' in pink at the top with the 3 skateboarding androids at the bottom. I try to get to recovery from that screen also still with no success. It just reboots into that screen. I was thinking I may have to use the ruu to unroot my Evo (I rather find an alternative solution). How can I regain my ability to boot into recovery? Any help would be much appreciated...

Turn off your phone, then when turning it on hold the volume rocker in the down position, you will then boot into hboot settings, hboot will automatically check for the update file(PC36IMG)after its done, scroll to recovery and enter that way,if you still cant get into recovery, you will need to download and reinstall the latest revolutionary root tool,i recommend using "TeamWin Recovery Project" i've never had a problem with it.

I installed a new recovery after i installed revolution, because i also had recovery issues. The version should be at the top of the recovery screen.I didnt like rom manager too much, for some reason it gives me problems.
They say that this version of Amon can be used to restore clockwork backups. I haven't tried it with clockwork myself because I avoids clockworkmod.
Thanks for the help everyone. Everything is gravy now. I'm happy with TWRP. I do have a question for making a backup. By default in TWRP, the 1st 3 boxes are checked up for when attempting to make a backup. Do any of you guys ever check the other boxes (Recovery, cache, .android_secure) and if so, why? Also, when you attempt to wipe before restoring, which items do you guys wipe? Any other tips or suggestions about this recovery would appreciated too.
I backup everything except cache.
