So I read all these post about custom roms and how each person has to choose a Rom they seem fit but quite frankly I like the stock evo Rom and I'm using launcher pro so it doesn't really matter to me.. but I was wondering is there a kernel or theme combination I can use to like completely extend my battery life??
I text a lot and my battery will drain down and I read a post on her a long time ago about better battery kernels and some tips and tricks about things that can be removed from your phone to make it better, faster, and last longer..
Any ideas and suggestions will greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!!

rom Burnt droid 1.4
all raidos, wimax, pri, nvm.. all been updated to the latest ..
over clock 1152...... running smartass govener....
i get 13 hours of use.. thats from 100%full to wont turn on~...
works for me!... good luck in your quest.... took me about 8 different rom/kernel variations to achieve this....
this is a good question. my setup is a hit or a miss. if i have 7+ hrs to charge my battery my life is gooood if not and it chargers for 5 or maybe thru a usb my battery life sucks. Im on mikfroyo 4.2 using battery charge kernal and battery tweak mod.
i searched but i find too many post about people and what they have and battery kernels and what not.. im new to the whole how all roms and kernels work.. so id rather people who actually know what works help me instead of me guessing what works for people who posted..

What would you say is the best battery saving kernel? I need to go a days worth of battery , and I use my phone heavily.
I use jd mod 102310.
I'm currently testing kings cfs#8 but its dying fast why? I just loaded the rom after a full charge.
How long will the battery life start to kick in?
Please help me.
Advice is needed.

I may be fairly new, but I'm pretty sure this should be up in the Q&A Section, no?
Anyhow, I guess it all depends, not all EVO's are made the same... Experimenting and tons of testing is the failsafe route. If there were a single, uniform easy-peasy kernel that allows the user to save battery life by just flashing a Kernel, then I guess there wouldn't be much fun in development anymore, no?
Personally, I got the best battery life from the Fresh 3.3.0.1 ROM and KingxKlik's Kernel #11 CFS, but I switched to CM6.1 and used the CMSnap 7.6 Kernel and got a decent 8 hours of heavy usage.
Sorry answer so vaguely, but it's from my noggin and experience (so far) wit XDA-Forums

He knows. Check his post history. He's always starting new threads featuring stupid questions in the dev forum.
I recently ventured into flashing my evo and it was quite easy to root, and return to stock. thank you guys for all of the information posted or else i wouldnt have been able to do it..
My questions are about roms.. Which Rom is the best to use for performance and battery conservation..
So far I love HTC sense, but i'd like more battery and less lag out of it.
Rom's I have tried are:
Cynagen 6
Fresh 3.5
and another i can't remember the name but it was based off of android 2.1
All of these roms ATE my battery.. within an hour-hour and a half I was down to nothing, and It sat in my pocket the whole time, after running quadrant.
I did however notice, my phone would never go to sleep on either rom, not sure if i messed up with rooting it or not.
Any suggestions on what rom to use? I don't want to wait two years for the new sense ui and am curious about gingerbread.
The rom im looking into as of now is CM7-EX.v9, Mixed replies for problems/no problems in that thread though.
As i have said I am new to this, new to linux, etc.. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thank you and thanks or all of the great things on this forum.
Personally I'm using a customized version of MikFroyo 4.4. I'd have to say what he's done to speed up the system is amazing. A lot of tedious work. I turn it into a "senseless" version and remove an ishload of other apps and use ADW Launcher EX. All in all, it's the best ROM I've used. Battery life is pretty decent as well.
If you like sense then try myn's rls 5
As for roms, what do you need to have and what can you do without? AOSP roms still don't have full functionality but do have really sweet custom things added in that could make up for it.
As for speed, I have compared CM6.1 to the Sense rom I am using now and the Sense one is faster/smoother. It has Mikfroyo 4.4 as the base but is even faster than that one. Battery life is OK.
However, if you are not even getting 2hrs out of your battery then something is wrong. You need to investigate or change some settings because no matter what combo you are using should get at least half a day out of it.
1) Make sure you wipe everything before you flash (I'd recommend Calkulin's format all zip)
2) Let ROMs and their respective kernels "settle into your phone." This usually takes 2-3 days.
3) Pick ROMs that don't emphasize speed/power (CM) as much and more on user experience (Myn's)
4) Check my sig if none of these help (however they should )
You may also want to check and see if you are on the newest pri 1.90 if so you can try flashing back to pri1.77 this has helped some people with the 100% wake issue. Then I would suggest another kernel possibly. Good luck.
Oh and +1 for mikfroyo!
mikfroyo seems to be the way to go... someone told me that the battery life would be junk for a few days but i wasn't sure.. i was more worried about the awake time and the up time being the same, meaning something was keeping my battery on.
I like the sense, in fact i'd love to try the new sense for the htc desire on it to see how it is.. looks amazing.
bloatware and what not i can do without
i dont have 4g in my area
i'd like to have both cameras working(i use them alot with my daughter)
mostly its a weather/texting machine.. sound like i got the wrong phone lol.. but i love the advantages of it.

So, been seeing a lot of new AOSP kernels being released, which is great because i have been using CM7...
However, i am trying out some new ROMS (sense) and looking for Kernels other than HTC#15 and Net's.
Lets keep the thread uncluttered... I am not looking for opinions of this is best or not... but just some other options that i can try out. If i get enough options, i can just update the OP and we can all use it as a resource... ??
Here are my priorities:
1. Battery life
2. performance
Battery life is by far the most important thing for me.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
This thread should be closed ASAP. This is going to lead to multiple people suggesting multiple kernels and arguing over which is the best. One of the unwritten rules of kernels is "Do not ask which kernel is the best." You have try them out for yourself and give them a few days to settle in.

Ok.. will rewrite the OP, but i am just looking for options.. i will decide what i like, but the only options i am really finding are Net and HTC#15. There was not 1 mention of "which is best"
But thanks for answering my questions.....
It's nothing personal. It's just that theses threads never end well.
Try HTC #17 (Requires you to be on PRI 1.77 and radio 09.01)
or
Any of Net's, like you said.

I get it though.. i have spent my fair share of time reading through page after page of useless BS...
Best advice is to acquire the various kernels out there.
Try each one out for a few days to see what works best with your hardware.
Finally, don't forget to mess with governors and their settings. That will have a bigger impact on your battery/performance criteria.
I have only used one for 5 minutes, as I run AOSP, but the netarchy kernels are nice.

Right.. I get that and is what i typically do.. just looking for other Kernels TO try.....
HTC #17 (awesome, but best battery life when used on Myn's RLS4 or any pre-3.70 OTA based ROM)
HTC #15
The bajillion combinations of Netarchy-Toastmod kernels (seriously, there are a lot he's made. Static Undervolt, No Undervolt, HAVS, noHAVS, SBC, noSBC, etc).
Ziggy's (not a huge fan of these, but people seem to like them).
That's about it unless someone else wants to chime in.

Ziggy's kernels have a great balance between the 2 priorities, and battery life is great.
And just a suggestion, if you are not "looking for opinions of this is best or not". Then you might want to change the title of this thread, its a little contradicting.

id also like a kernel for my stock 3.70. preferably one with an OC without the need for set cpu.
Ziggy works best for me but like I said that is just me, different phones seem to work different better with different kernels. It's all about what your phone likes

As crazy as this might sound having the BEST battery life is hard to find. I'm using a regular battery not extended so I found that no matter what kernel combination I use there really is no AWESOME battery life. These types of phones on a regular battery just aren't meant to last all day. It ticks me off when people brag and they say things like "oh my evo last all day and etc" . Why brag and you're not even a heavy user like normal people. Most the people who brag about their ultra battery life aren't heavy users, and their phones are always sleeping. I use my phone all day, constant texting, twitter, Facebook, tapatalk, and wifi web browsing from about 8am-5pm. When I say heavy I mean heavy. Around 5pm my phones usually about 20 or 30% and this is perfect for me at least. I get home at 5 so that's my peak usage. I've used about every kernel/rom/tweak combination that exists and I don't think aosp has better batt life over sense and vice versa. Right now I'm using myns 2.2 with the 4.2.2 net/toast kernel sbc with the 1.77 prl and my phone can go from 8am to at least 7pm with very heavy usage. This by far the best I've gotten out of my 004 evo over and aosp/sense rom especially with everything working perfectly. Cheers.

I just flashed Kings UNleashed Ultra Blakk R3 and the kernel that came with it is killing my battery. I came over to Kings Unleashed from MiUi so I'm looking for a great kernel that will help me conserve the battery life
Suggestions Please
Thanks in advance!
Yeah I just flashed this a couple day ago and Im currently using netarchy-toastmod-4.3.4-cfs-havs-more-nosbc.It actually gave me a little better battery life but then Im using this kernal for other things like overclocking support and hdmi mirroring. I ran across this on a thread but dont know if u hav already done this but I'll just throw it out there for u. Batttey Enhancement from HTC....first turn ON phone charge 8 hrs or more...2nd unplug turn OFF and charge for 1 hr...3rd unplug phone turn ON wait 2 min and turn OFF and charge for another hour. Its suppose to giv u up to 10 hrs more on ur battery.I tried it and it helped me some. Good Luck!!!
Each kernel will respond differently to each phone. My suggestion would be try them out and see which your phone likes best. I personally use Net's 4.2.1 (131) on Kings Unleashed 3 and now Koni's Elite 3, and it's the best I've found for my setup.
Might I add which Im sure u already know that every kernal reacts differently to every phone. What might work good on my Evo might not act right on yours. So I would just try different kernals to see which one works best with your phone. At least thats what I done and its worked for me on all different ROMS that Ive flashed.

Was your post *REALLY* necessary?
So, to answer your question:
I don't believe most of the kernels are for the stock ROM, with the exception of faux123's. I have followed faux over from multiple devices, and his kernels have always gotten the best battery life! It also doesn't hurt that you can get over 30 hours with over 3 hours screen on time with his kernel!
[Kernel][GSM][Hybrid-3.0.21]ICS4.0.2/3/4/UV,OC,TUN,CIFS,FIOPS,OTG(v013) [Feb-18]
Also, if its battery life your after as opposed to performance, you should go with the mainline version of the kernel.

nope, just like the thread. his years of "knowladge" didnt help him.
I'm running on Franco 17.2 kernel (too lazy to update to 18.6) with the "stock" 4.0.4 rom and I'm seeing a pretty good battery life improvement over stock kernel.
I collected some metrics last night...
11h 6m on battery with 2h 48m display on time (auto brightness). Wifi was on almost the entire time.
I know people have gotten better with non-stock roms (4 hour display time over 16 hours), but with the stock rom, I'd say it's an improvement (used to only get 8-10 hours with negligible screen time).
I have been using franco 18.6 with the leaked stock 4.0.4 with good results so far, but have seen crashes on 4g/3g border areas. I can't really say if it's the best, because my sample size is a single custom kernel.
Used the app off the android market for OTA kernel updates; and am reluctant to try other kernels until more apps are available like that.
There really is not definitive answer on what the best kernel is for everyone.
Each person uses their phone differently and differing configurations will alter results as well.
Your best bet is to experiment yourself. Flash a kernel and let it run a couple days, trying to take note of how your on screen performance is, what you have run, also how the phone sleeps.
Then you move on and try the next, that is part of the fun!

Well, you obviously failed to realise the point, this kind of thread pops up everyday. So you failed search.
Its like a pair of shoes, you need to try and find what is best for you. Best kernel threads will always be retarded to ask because it is a preference, like an anus, everybody has one.
