Is anyone having an issue with texts being deleted? It's been happening since yesterday and my phone just randomly deletes all my text messages. I also made sure that the option to automatically delete them was off.

There was a previous discussion about this happening on stock ROMs, dont know if they found a solution though. use the search

Tried googling around and wasn't successful; maybe I just used the wrong tags..anyways
I've noticed this issue quiet a while back and never thought of it; but recently it seems to of been getting worse..no Idea why because I haven't changed my setup
But; what happens is if I send a text message then open up another app; I.e browser, irc, ect, ect.. then press the back button when I go to open up my messaging app again to reply or send out another text it'll open up the previous app I just backed out of.
This is seriously annoying because I can't get to my text messaging threads at all and have yet to find a work around to fix this except rebooting.
I've tried clearing cache and that hasn't seemed to work. If anyone has any other ideas i'll be glad to test and report back.
Nothing? Nice help guys

Can't send picture messaging, what should I do or check?

I rarely use MMS so I'm probably not the man with the best answer. That said, I think it would help people a lot if you provided more info, like:
What rom are you on?
When did this problem develop?
What changes have you made to your phone recently?
Have you recently frozen/deleted/disabled any stock apps?
Can you still receive MMS?
What is the exact behavior? I.E. does the phone try to send the MMS and it never goes through, or are you getting some kind of error that doesn't allow you to even try to send?
What troubleshooting steps have you already attempted?
As it stands, with the amount of information that you've provided, most answers you get will be completely wild guesses.
My problem started occurring after I rooted my phone, I'm able to receive pictures just can't send them. It says generic network failure

What carrier do you have?
mms generic network failure site:http://forum.xda-developers.com/
Looks like there are many, many threads that have inquired about this in the past... and that's just on this site. If you take out the XDA parameter for the search, you'll get even more results.
Try the solution in this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835700
If that doesn't work, keep trying the other links that the search turns up
I have a friend who's DInc will randomly delete all of her SMS threads when she gets a new message. When she goes to the app after getting the notification all of her threads will be gone, including the one she just got the message in. This has happened to her 3 or 4 times now. I've recommended a couple of SMS backup apps to her, just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if so, how did you fix it? And if you could recommend SMS backup apps which would they be and why?
Whenever my dinc starts to act up I reboot. Other than that I use the sms that comes with the Rom I'm on. Good luck. I

It's a known Android issue (#5669, to be precise) and it isn't partial to Incredibles or even HTC. I have never experienced it in more than a year but it happens on my daughter's Incredible about once a week.
Use an SMS backup app, and save important stuff externally to the MMS apo.

Yeah this issue has been up for a while, but hasn't been given much attention at all.
It's happened to me at least 4 times, but i started using SMS Backup+ which is perfect.
When turning the phone off and then on, the camera flashes a light several times and it automatically sends previous text messages sent by me to other people again. Why is this hapenning? Can someone please post a solution?? Thanks!
this is actually a known issue
it seems to be a system bug
you can try flashing another ROM, or simply wiping the stock ROM and start from scratch
[Q] issues with SMS resending itself after reboot
I have been having a strange issue recently.
When I reboot my phone, the text messages that I have recently sent are being resent to my contacts, sometimes the messages are resent multiple times. It happens sporadically.
Anyone else have this issue?

I've never experienced this issue. Are you using a 3rd party SMS app? What rom is this issue happening on?

could be a malware
I work for tmo...change ur simcard..

Are you using handcent? This specific issue is why I quit using handcent. If not, then I dunno, that's weird.

switch and use Go SMS
problem solved
hey! thanks for the reply. I tried flashing some different roms but the issue still persists. even though its not every time i restart my phone, it still happens randomly and its very annoying since people always reply back saying why are u sending me old text messages? So what do you suggest i do? I am currently on TricH's rom. how can i completely wipe the stock rom and start from scratch? please let me know! thanks.
which SMS app are you using?
the stock one that comes with TricH's rom
hmm... probably you might be better off using another ROM or a stock ROM just to see if there's any difference?
i have already tried other roms such as the beast rom but the issue still persist. even when i was on the stock rom, the issue was still there. Do you think there is a way to remove the stock sms app completely from the phone and then maybe i can download a 3rd party app?
i have been having the exact same issue. it started while i was on the stock telus rom, i then switched to the best rom and the issue was still occuring. I am now on the bombardier rom and the issue was gone for a couple of days and now when i restarted the phone, the issue occured again. so i dont know what is causing this problem. if someone knows a fix to this issue please help!
you can use TI to freeze it
Link2SD also has the Frezing option
This was happening to me. I narrowed my problem down to media scan looping, especially if you're getting it on a nandroid restore.
merged both topics, just noticed you 2 and a few other people you also have the exact bug
Had a thought... do you have any texts stored on your sim card?
nope nothing stored on my sim card.
ok so i think I may have found the solution to the issue:
i installed titanium backup pro then used it to backup and freeze the stock messaging app. I then rebooted the phone so the messaging icon disappeared from the phone. I then installed go sms pro from the market and using it as my default sms app. Tried rebooting phone after that and it has not been resending text messages so far.
*fingers crossed* hope this solves the issue for good! will update if issue persists.
Hi all,
Does anyone else have issues with the messaging app slowing to a crawl after a while? For me, after using it for a while it really begins to become slow to respond to things like the back button, opening a thread, etc.
Thanks,
Ho'okani
Try setting it to delete messages after a certain number, typically around 200 or so.

My suggestion is to use another messaging app...I personally prefer chompSMS but theres also others with way more features and options than the stock messaging app and I never have freezing problems or anything like it..

It is already set to do that but I think that because I did a restore from a previous phone there are a lot more messages than the set limit. I never had problems with my other phone though with that many messages. Think I'll try using another messaging app as the other reply suggests and see how that goes.
When installing another sms app, would it be starting new or does it integrate with the existing messages on the phone and bring those threads over to the new app.
Thanks,
Ho'okani
The SMS is a globally accessible database. So any app can access it. Just make sure you turn off notifications for the builtin sms app.

Thanks guys. I'm going to give Handcent a try and see how that goes. Anyone know if you make Handcent your default messaging app, does that make it so messages no longer get added to the stock app's database? I ask that because I also use SMS Backup and Restore to backup my text messages.
Thanks,
Ho'okani
