I bought a G2 with a broken glass Digitizer. I replaced the digitizer but the LCD screen was cracked as well. So i replace that too. After replacing the glass digitizer and lcd screen the phone would respond in certain areas. SOOO I took the phone apart once more and press the LCD against the Glass digitizer which help with some of the "dead spots" on the screen. But there are still some "dead" spots here and there. Is there anything i could do to have the Lcd screen stick to the digitizer so i don't have these issues. I love my G2 but its useless at points when the multi touch is not working properly.
You should have sent it back on warranty.
Removed "Void" sticker over one of the screws
I removed one of the stickers do you think they'll notice?
no, they'll send you another one as soon as they get the tracking no. from you.

The digitizer is the part that picks up the touch of the screen for input. The LCD is the actual viewable screen. Is it just the glass that is broken? Is so you can probably just replace the glass unless I'm mistaken. Unless the glass and the LCD are one piece.

The hobo murderer is right. You most likely have the digitizer cracked, since that's the topmost layer of the phone. If you're lucky and the actual LCD screen under the glass is fine then you can save a pretty decent amount of money by only replacing the digitizer.
Edit: This teardown by ifixit is a great demonstration of how this phone is put together. It should give you a better idea of which parts are broken: http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/HTC-Evo-4G-Teardown/2979/1
Ok, so the phone turns on, LCD screen even flickers on once in a while, it won't stay on though. And everything looks just how I left it. So I'm assuming the mother board is good, the LCD is bad/fried and the digitizer glass is ok. Would that be a safe assumption?
Now, I had two other Incredibles, one with a cracked LCD, one with a cracked digitizer. Swapped out the digitizer and as long as we put the right mother board in that went with the LCD, it worked great. So I'm assuming I can't just go buy an incredible off ebay with a cracked digitizer and swap out LCD screens? And will a "New" LCD replacement screen work? Thanks!

I don't see why another LCD screen wouldn't work, but it's really hard to say with this kind of thing without just trying it, which is what people want to avoid because throwing parts at it costs money. Its not necessarily true that the motherboard on the device is ok. Its certainly possible that it could be fried, but in a way that allows power to still get to the LCD but not control it properly. Another option would be, since you will be taking it apart anyway, inspect the motherboard or other circuitry if you can see it and look for burn marks on the board that would indicate a short circuit. You can't always see them, but it would tell you if it were bad if you can see it.
I have had a bad luck and my phone fell out of my pocket and got cracks on the screen, i think its digitizer because the picture is all perfect inside the screen otherwise the liquid would have defiantly came out of the LCD!!!
I have tried pressing on the cracked class and see if liquid comes out or it forms a black spot or anything but nothing happened!!!
The combo of LCD & Digitizer costs 2500-4000 Indian Rupees while only 800Rs for Digitizer so i am thinking of only buying figitizer from ebay but i dont know any way to separate the LCD & Digitizer
Anyone have any idea on doing that and how can i put the digitizer back on LCD?
Thanks!
P.S. The touch is working perfectly even when cracked heavily!
Hey All.
Been using nexus 7 2013 since last 2 years. My nephew dropped it and the screen cracked from the side. The device is working fine. The touch doesn't work at the the area of the cracks on the top right, and a few other places. But works everywhere else on the screen. My question is what has to be replaced, the digitizer or the entire LCD. My personal diagnoses is only the upper glass needs to be replaced. Please advice further!
Digitizer is for $15 and the whole thing is for $50. What has to be replaced and how to find out?
Please see the pictures and help me please
Unless you have a way of separating the glass/digitizer from the actual lcd you need the whole assembly. It's all glued together you can't just lift off the glass.

You'd be much better off replacing the whole assembly. Separating the digitizer from the lcd can be done, but the problem is with locating a digitizer that works. I've tried this for about 5 times, and each time I had to return the digitizer to the vendor.
Also, since the bezel (frame) is designed so the digitizer back always touches the lcd surface (they are glued together on the original assembly), you'll have those strange "rainbow" spots on them when the device is turned off.
Not to mention that if you use an adhesive that's too thin, there's a chance the digitizer might be bent, not enough to crack it, but enough to distort touch sensitivity, resulting in some spots being unresponsive. In short, too much of a hassle for a 30-buck saving.
Hi guys
Had to get my glass replaced by samsung and had to purchase glass and digitizer as one unit. Its back to normal and samsung returned my original unit with cracked glass..however the digitizer and screen worked fine.
Seen yourube videos on how to remove the glass. Do you think its worth salvaging/selling the digitzer and screen?
There is no mainboard parts etc..
..just digitizer/screen only
Thx
