[Q] Sideloading Apps - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

Are there any?
Windows Phone 7 is already open to homebrew applications.
The chevron tool unlocks the device, but to anyone that isn't a developer there seems to be no point to this.
The question is are there any sideloading applications readily available for us non-developing members? Or should I, for now, leave my device locked.?
(And to all you Devs making Apps keep up the good work. And dont let excited people like me rush you )

Yes I have searched...
And the best i could find was infact the same information, that being that the chevron App unlocks it.
Thanks for the help...

So far the only really useful capability we've unlocked is the ability to do networking. Someone used that to make a webserver, which is cool, but the average user probably won't be too interested in it. We're still working on unlocking a lot of other things, though.
The best thing to do is to hop in, learn to program, and start coding yourself! With a weekend, you should be able to make something fairly basic and nice.

Quick yes or no Question.

A) Your question really doesn't make sense.
B) This is the HTC Hero forums, not the HTC Sapphire (Magic) forums.

well first of all, you posted in the hero section.
about your questions, hacking is too much of a big word. better say rooting.
depends on the applications you want to install. majority of them you wont need to root your phone for them to run. there is an option to enable 3rd party applications in the menu itself. however, some applications do require rooting of the phone, for example wifi teetering, bluetooth sharing...
oh sorry i made mistake :\ but i think it would be the same.
i'll try formulate. I wish to download a pack of apps from the internet. I do not know if they are signed or not (not even know if android has that protection as windows mobile has ) . My question was if i can install those apps on the android oficial OS from HTC.
I Hope it was better formulated the question. Thanks again!
For example. i'm downloading this collection of apps: h**p://isohunt.com/torrent_details/148986681/android?tab=summary
Will i need to root or it isnt necessary? What kind of apps need rooting? Or this kind i do not have to worry about.
Thanks =)

from the list you quoted, you dont have to root your phone for the vast majority of them. rooting is required to access proteccted files of the system from your phone
alright excelent. Thank you for your kind help =) I was becoming interested on the iphone but after i saw android, kind of blocked my eyes. the system is great hehe. Thank you again =)
But downloading pirated apps is a good way to get your phone blacklisted & banned from the Android Market.

oh how is this detectable so far? why are they banning people from it? wont they loose money that way? If i dont root my phone, most apps i have on this list will work, in that way i wont get blacklisted? Thanks

Them clever, clever MS boys...LOL

Looks like a win for MS and for all WP7 users content with a closed system:
Nuh uh...no you don't!
No evidence to suggest it's MS, just the ramblings of some paranoid and suspicious forum users started that rumour.
WithinRafael confirms it is not MS.

Hmmm....could be.
Well, I had posted that my phone was getting errors and telling me to uninstall the side-loaded apps when I tried to run them. I had not used the chevron tool to re-lock the phone, so naturally I thought ms had done something to get rid of the homebrew apps. It was not until someone here just said you're phone is locked, just re-unlock it. So I did, and i am now able to load homebrew apps. I have not yet plugged my phone back into the computer since I've re-loaded the homebrews.. So I'm not sure if it will re-lock again, or if this was just a quirk.
But as I read the sticky in this forum... Its not ms doing this.

Jailbreaking Kin 2m!

Does anyone know how to jailbreak the kin 2m? Any easy to use programs? Preferably to be able to get apps and have a marketplace? If anyone can find a good way that works I would be willing to give you $5-10 via paypal?
FGS, read the fu##ing forum before posting.....
There is currently no way to hack this phone at all. As of right now its impossible. People are trying to work on it but are having no luck. Microsoft & Sharp has dropped this phone and are no longer supporting it.
They also will not release what we need to make the phone Open Source so anyone can hack it. At this point until someone steps in that is above who who we have righ now to Officially hack the phone I would not count on anything being done.
No offense to those who are trying but at this point I just cant see the phone being hacked
I hope I don't have to comment on why this thread is closed...

Future Developer(Tips & Tricks)

Hi guys, I'm currently a senior Computer Science major about to graduate in the next year, and a half. I've been really interested in Android development, and wanted to inquire from the pro's and how they learnt to create, edit, and make such software. So far I haven't been exposed to many real world applications of programming, but any tips that could be provided would be very appreciated!

Glad to help!!!
These are awesome links, I've been recently reading Programming Android by Mr. Zigurd Mednieks. So far it's pretty good, and it's builds upon my previous knowledge of Java(which I haven't used in a while).

I'm interested in learning what tools I need and any guides to teach me how to create roms for my LG G3. Can anyone here help me out with this?

If you can't even search Google to find your answers, I'm sorry to say I think you might fail at creating ROMs

Please do me a favor keep your opinions about me to your self you don't know the first thing about me In the past I was a programmer using Pascal and basic which I created programs to test PCB's So I do know how to program just not android. I did google but I probably didn't phrase it right so didn't find the exact info I was looking for. As far as I'm concerned you are being rude and judgemental so the way I see it is in your best interest to keep your opinions to your self.
Thanks for the info Semantics am looking at it now.
I wish you the best, hoping to see a creation by you in the near future ?
@Semantics @IXChicharitoXI way to have a supportive attitude. We need more of that around here :good:
Thanks for the support it will be awhile since I have to learn everything from the bottom up.

Best way to start it by cooking your own personalized stock ROM. Learning as you go is a great way to retain that knowledge. After you get the hang of that move on to aosp. A lot of the same principles will carry over. Don't let haters get you down, I saw a guy post in the hacking and development section asking how to do something. He got lit up with insults but went on to do some really cool stuff. I didn't see this in actual time I was just curious about his othere projects and ran into it. One tip I would say is do not depend on kitchens. They work for a quick shortcut to get your stock ROM started but that's about all they are good for (they don't even work with this phone). Good luck!

Yes I want to do it right but everywhere I look I see people doing work with the kitchen software which I have tried on one of the stock rooted deodexed roms I found here and your right very limited. I will keep looking and reading hopefully I will find some guides on the net which will show me how to do what I want to do. When I programmed before one of my friends helped me learn how to do it and I did learn from the bottom up with his help. So I know it is possible just need assistance getting there.
