Wrong notification sound since OTA update - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Since I installed the OTA update yesterday, I no longer have the problem where my Evo doesn't play any notification sound, but it plays the wrong one.
After a reboot it plays the right one for a while, then starts playing the wrong one again.

Are you using a separate app (Like handcent) to do the notification sound, or did you do it in settings?

I use Handcent. Open it up, go to menu/settings and do it in there. It used to be that it worked for a while and then stopped playing a notification sound altogether. And this was before I installed Handcent.

[Q] Disable music pausing on notification sound

Seems like when I fixed DSPManager my music pauses when I get a notification while listening to music. It's annoying as hell. I've tried to configure the CyanogenMod settings to not do this, but it won't stop. I'm using CM7 Build #22. It only happened after fixing DSPManager (clearing cache). I've since removed it, and it still does it. It pisses me off, specially since I have people on iPhone's that seem to think it's appropriate to send me 50 texts in a row with one sentence on each line.

Did u configure anything from CM settings under sound setting? Silent state blah blah blah?

I get exactly the same on CM7 RC2. Music pauses for a notification, but no notification sound. I often wonder for a couple seconds why the music stopped before I realize someone has texted. I never cleared the DSPManager cache.
I actually don't mind that I get the notification (don't get texts as frequently as the OP), so I'd actually like to hear the notification ringtone.

Yeah, I initially didn't configure any of that - but when I cleared DSPManager (sick of it crashing when I hung the phone up) it started doing the pause thing. It's annoying hahaha.

Yeah, I do get a lot of emails too (work email / personal). So like, when I'm on the train trying to zone out with my new Roc Nation Aviators (love them) and I'm getting pauses about "OMG DA NETWURK B DOWN" I start getting mad. Lol
This is still an issue - even in CM7 RC4
I have found that if I get many notifications in quick succession, the music will stay paused. That is what I find annoying.
I'm going to lose my mind lol. **** is annoying as hell.
I AGREE! lol
I figured it out - you have to disable the "Always Play Notification on Speaker" in CM Settings > Sound.

[Q] Anyone else's Gnex sometimes fail to play notification sounds?

I always leave my phone on full volume (never on vibrate) when I am anywhere that doesn't demand silence, but I've been noticing sometimes I get a sound for a new SMS, and sometimes my phone will just vibrate.
This happen to anyone else?
I am running stock 4.0.2
Are you using a 3rd party app to select custom notification sound?

Nope, stock "ding" noise
Have you checked the settings in your SMS app?
I think I might have solved why this is happening.
Sometimes I lock my phone with my keyboard still up in a conversation, and I think that's when it doesn't play the sound.

[Q] Problem with the notification sound

After downloading Zedge and Audiko I chose a new notification sound and new phone ringtone, my Gnex went crazy right after! it sometimes playing notification 'XX1' and sometimes it playing notification 'XX2'..
My question is: How can I reset the sound settings?
Anyone?

By uninstalling those two apps that seem to have caused the problem, perhaps?

Notification help

So I'm loving my G3 but there is a small issue that I'm having. I have my general notifications set to one sound and my ring tone set to another like I have with every other Android phone I've owned. For the most part everything works perfect, but several times I got a notification and it played my ring tone. Not for one single app either, it was different ones. Some apps I could check the notification sound and within the app it had it set for the ring tone. I change it, but other apps don't give that option, like games.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to correct this?

Still having this issue. It seems like any app that has notifications that I cant manually assign a sound to within the app settings will sometimes use the ringtone sound rather than the notification sound. Has no one else had this problem?

Notification sounds for apps not staying set

One thing I have noticed on the 3 so far is, for many of my apps, the notification sound I set for it never plays. I always get the default phone notification sound for those apps.
When I go in the app to check or change it, its still on the the notification sound I picked in the first place.
Why are certain apps, which allow you to pick a different sound, only playing default sound, while others that I changed are playing that changed sound? For instance, Ive been using TweetCaster for over 5 years now. Always had the same notification tone set for it and it played perfectly on every phone before the P3XL. The file is still in the Audio file for Notifications as it should it. It plays the sound when I click it. But when an update for TC comes through, it just plays the default notification sound in the phone setting.
EDIT: After much searching, I finally found a thread on Reddit that explained how to do it. It's a way deeper dive than just the usual pool I was used to...
