[Q] Disable music pausing on notification sound - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Seems like when I fixed DSPManager my music pauses when I get a notification while listening to music. It's annoying as hell. I've tried to configure the CyanogenMod settings to not do this, but it won't stop. I'm using CM7 Build #22. It only happened after fixing DSPManager (clearing cache). I've since removed it, and it still does it. It pisses me off, specially since I have people on iPhone's that seem to think it's appropriate to send me 50 texts in a row with one sentence on each line.

Did u configure anything from CM settings under sound setting? Silent state blah blah blah?

I get exactly the same on CM7 RC2. Music pauses for a notification, but no notification sound. I often wonder for a couple seconds why the music stopped before I realize someone has texted. I never cleared the DSPManager cache.
I actually don't mind that I get the notification (don't get texts as frequently as the OP), so I'd actually like to hear the notification ringtone.

Yeah, I initially didn't configure any of that - but when I cleared DSPManager (sick of it crashing when I hung the phone up) it started doing the pause thing. It's annoying hahaha.

Yeah, I do get a lot of emails too (work email / personal). So like, when I'm on the train trying to zone out with my new Roc Nation Aviators (love them) and I'm getting pauses about "OMG DA NETWURK B DOWN" I start getting mad. Lol

This is still an issue - even in CM7 RC4

I have found that if I get many notifications in quick succession, the music will stay paused. That is what I find annoying.

I'm going to lose my mind lol. **** is annoying as hell.

I AGREE! lol

I figured it out - you have to disable the "Always Play Notification on Speaker" in CM Settings > Sound.

Google Voice Low Volume

This is ridiculous... I've had this problem for over a year on multiple phones. I'm surprised I'm still using it. I just don't even listen to my vm anymore.
Anyone know what is causing the low volume bug? Any known fixes? I get low volume on both the ear-piece and on speakerphone. I've tried turning up all my volume levels and it is still awful. Any ideas?

Nobody?? Is anyone else having this problem?
Seems to be a Google app issue...I had this same problem on roms and stock for ICS but didn't see it on GB. What are you running on your phone,setup-wise?

Still running an EL29 rom.
Yeah I'm pretty sure its the app, has nothing to do with the phone or setup.

I have the same issue with the Sprint Visual Voicemail app. Most voicemails are recorded so low that you cannot hear them (with the app). I've gotten into the habit of just calling voicemail to listen to the message instead.
This JUST started happening to me as well.
I've been running Gvoice on my androids since my very first HTC G1, and never experienced this issue until this week.
The app was working fine, voicemail playback was loud as the rest of the phone, speaker or headset.
Then later on in the day I play another one back, and it sounds like olden times, when in the silence during a telephone call you could occasionally hear AM Radio being picked up by the phone wires, very faintly.
I de-registered my phone with g-voice, cleared app data and uninstalled gvoice app, rebooted. Re-installed gvoice app, re-registered phone with gvoice, re-forwarded calls, and set the app back up, no luck.
This is horrible. I actually listened to voicemails on my phone before. I don't want to go back to using ATT's crappy default voicemail system.
Any thoughts on how to fix this? If it's an app setting, how did it "all of a sudden" fail?

Try "reducing" the sound below the mid-level
I am on AOKP milestone 6 and noticed the same low volume in Skype, Google Voice (voicemail), and Sprint Voicemail. After some tinkering I noticed that reducing the volume to a little below mid level actually brings back the sound. I am not sure if this is something specific to my phone, but you might want to try the same if you are experiencing this issue.

thanks for this! this worked for me, but I was wondering if anyone else was able to figure out why this was happening. Adjusting volume is easy enough, just a little annoying.
Google just needs to update the app. Happens to me too on aokp and aosp jb.

Random ding-DING notification? ICS 4.0.2 Darkside Evolution v7

I have a random notification sound on my phone and I can't figure out what it is. It's like a "reverse doorbell" if you can picture that. Instead of DING-ding, it's ding-DING...so low ding to high ding. When I go to my phone there is nothing in the notification area.
I don't have a ton of apps installed, about 3 pages worth when I pull up all of them.
I feel stupid for not being able to find out what's doing this, but I'm starting to get frustrated. Thanks for any help!

Try this: Go to into the Sound settings of your phone and navigate to the notification sound setting. Go through all the sounds and find the sound that matches the one you are hearing. Note the name of the sound and then go into each app that has a notification sound and see if any of the apps currently are set to that notification sound.
Or this: Turn off all notification sounds for all apps that give notification sounds (email accounts, calendar, SMS apps, etc). Confirm you no longer hear the sound and then one by one start enabling notification sounds for each app. Hopefully you will be able to pinpoint which app is making the sound.
Hope this helps!
Dingding
Did you check to see if your gmail account had notifications turned on? Mine kept making that ding-ding noise until I figured out how to disable it.

Ha, I was hoping to avoid this (going through each app) but that's what I did. Turns out it was Yahoo Mail. I turned off the notifications at the top of the screen, but they hid the notification "sound"! Thanks for your help!

[Q] Random loud music playing during calls, any ideas?

*Running Jedi Knight 5 w/ included kernel*
Having an issue with Random music playing during calls. I did some searching and saw a few threads from random devices running GB. This is not all the time, happens on random occasions with random people I call (happened a few times when receiving calls as well)
I make a call, it rings for a few seconds then random loud music starts playing. It's not any of my music or ringtones, almost sounds like some 70's porn music. It lasts through the call and the other end cannot hear it. It's very loud through my speaker. I did't get a logcat during a call but will try soon. Happened once before on Jedi Knight 4 and a few times yesterday on 5. I don't have any music on my phone and only a few downloaded ringtones from Zedge. Nothing shows up as running, so I cant stop an app to stop the music. Clearing RAM sometimes stops it, otherwise have to reboot.
Any ideas or links are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had this problem in Dark side ICS ROM. Open your phone dialer, go to settings, and turn off notifications during calls. It worked for me.

I'll give it a shot. Thanks so much for replying. Makes sense that would be a problem. :good:

Bluetooth audio with Viper

Does anyone one have issues with listening to Bluetooth audio with V4A where if I receive messages and get the notification, V4A will stop processing for a second before coming back again? It gets really annoying when group messages start spamming and I receive notifications non-stop. It also happens when I send out a message to people. Sorry if this was mentioned before but I tried to search but just didn't know what keyword to search for lol.
I also experience the same. Every time I get a notification the music stops playing for a second and comes back again, even if the notification volume is 0.
Does it not happen on stock?

Notification sounds for apps not staying set

One thing I have noticed on the 3 so far is, for many of my apps, the notification sound I set for it never plays. I always get the default phone notification sound for those apps.
When I go in the app to check or change it, its still on the the notification sound I picked in the first place.
Why are certain apps, which allow you to pick a different sound, only playing default sound, while others that I changed are playing that changed sound? For instance, Ive been using TweetCaster for over 5 years now. Always had the same notification tone set for it and it played perfectly on every phone before the P3XL. The file is still in the Audio file for Notifications as it should it. It plays the sound when I click it. But when an update for TC comes through, it just plays the default notification sound in the phone setting.
EDIT: After much searching, I finally found a thread on Reddit that explained how to do it. It's a way deeper dive than just the usual pool I was used to...
